from my friends on the Dis.
The next few days are going to be very hard. One of my DD's team mates committed suicide on Wednesday. She was 15 years old. She was also a fixture in our home and like one of our own. The parents have requested we gather the hockey team at their house today while the blessing is done and that the kids wear their jersey's to the funeral on Tuesday to do the "honor Guard" for her. We are already emotionally spent and the worst is yet to come.
Keep planning those trips with your kids everyone- for us these memories are now even more precious.

This must be a very difficult time for you all. It is always especially hard when a young person sees no other way out.
My prayers and pixie dust are with as you and your family deal with this pain.

Please accept my deepest sympathies... there is no greater loss than that of a child. How sad that your daughter's friend was so much in despair, unfortunately the teenage years are often the hardest and young girls just seem to feel every emotion at such a heightened state that they often cannot understand that with time all things do improve.
Again my prayers are with you and your daughter.

please know we're thinking about your family, and your DD especially... :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

My deepest sympathy to your fmaily and especially to your DD.I am so sorry to hear about this. Your family must be devastated. It is so sad when a teenager feels they have no other options. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Good luck on Tuesday. I'm sure it will be a tough day.

More pixie dust coming your way for your DD, your family and all the members of the hockey team. It is such a tragedy when a young person decides that it won't get better.

For many girls at this age who play competitive hockey, the team is family. This has to be devastating for everyone involved and our hearts and prayers go out to you.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to your family, the teammates, friends, and most certainly Kallie's family. You said it best that time with our kids is priceless and to enjoy every second. Just keep hugging your daughter and let her know how much she is loved. :grouphug:

Once again thanks everyone.
We had the blessing at their house yesterday and while I was very skeptical it was quite theraputic.
Mike you are so right about hockey teams being family. We had 3 teams gathered, her rep team, highschool team, and old boys team. The father even said if it wasn't for her hockey they would never have acquired so many friends.
Wendy- I will definitely keep you in mind. There were a few girls there that I am concerned about.
For the first time ever I am dreading the upcoming hockey season.

Oh Sherry ... I'm so sorry. My thoughts, prayers and hugs go out to you, your DD, this gal's family and all of her hockey family. It will be a difficult time for all, but please let those girls know that talking to someone, even a stranger, is better than not talking about it all. Such a tragedy.

Sherry, from one hockey parent to another, all the pixie dust in the world to you and your daughter. My daughter used to play for Aurora and then Stouffville, I can only imagine what your girls are going through.

So sorry to hear of your loss.
My daughter asst' coach passed away this year of cancer and the girls from the team also did a honour guard. It was so touching. I was so proud of my 12 year old daughter, she is the capt' of her team and they held their heads high and helped each other through.
Pixie dust and prayers to you and all families involved.

I was so sad to read this and I offer my honest sympathy. I was thinking about your daughter and how she must feel. I lost a close friend to the hands of her abusive step-father when I was in grade 8. This was one of those things that left a deep impression on me. I cried for days. My mom suggested a few weeks later that we plant a tree in Lisa's memory. It still stands to this day and was always a touchstone in many ways. Just a thought, I know all your family are probably very raw right now. I am so sorry for your loss.
