Hi! Trying to help a friend with her family's first trip to DL. What are the best hotels for a family of 6, one room? I didn't realize this would be so hard to find.
Thanks!

There are only a few hotels in the area that have suites large enough to hold 6 people. They might have to go for two adjoining rooms!
We were a party of 6 about a year and a half ago and we stayed at the Residence Inn Garden Grove (link to hotel (http://www.residenceinnanaheim.com)). We had a two bedroom, 2 bathroom suite and it was perfect for 6 people. We had a kitchen and 3 tv's. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, plates, etc... Breakfast is also included. It was a very nice hotel.

We're a family of six and I feel your pain!
We were at DLR last week and, "bending the rules" a little, the six of us stayed at a room at Best Western Park Place Inn. If I remember correctly, you are only supposed to have five in a room, but we fit pretty comfortably. We had two queen sized beds and a hide-a-bed.
And, the BWPPI is right across the street from DLR!

You could call Candy Cane Inn - deluxe room is big enough for 2 per bed, 1 on the couch, and 1 roll-away.
Our friends with 6 stayed at the Staybridge Inn and liked it.

We just booked a stay at the Residence Inn for Aug. 25-27 for a party of 7. I haven't stayed here before but found mostly good reviews and only a few minor complaints about parking. I'm keeping my hopes up that it will be nice, we are taking my Mom, niece and nephew for their first trip ever to the Land. :earboy2:

You'll like it there! It's a nice hotel and we never had a problem with parking!
Forgot to mention that back in December we had 6 people in our room at the DLH. We had a room with a day bed so it worked out well. The bathroom was big too, so one could shower while one or two used the mirrors to get ready!

The BW Park Place Inn allows 6 in a room this year, in their mini suite. Other hotels to consider: Residence Inn Maingate (I like the grounds at this one), Residence Inn-Resort Area on Harbor, BW Raffles (simple on the outside, but the rooms are nice enough), Portofino Inn & Suites, Carousel Inn, Marriott Suites, and some others.

Thanks! We had the same experience as manchurianbrownbear (in fact we met him on the StoryBook Land Canal Boats last Wednesday!) We got a "mini-suite" at the Best Western Park Place last week with a family of six. Their web site says five people max, but when I called they said six was no problem. There were two queen beds and a queen sofa bed. The BWPPI is right across the street from DLR, the shortest walk possible save for GCH possibly.

We are staying in Staybridge Suites in Nov. We got a great deal, it has a kitchen, 2 baths, 2 bedrooms, plus a hide-a-bed . We are thrilled with it. Also has free breakfast. It's only a few years old also. Nice and new. Good luck and have fun! :earboy2:
We had 6 people in our group and stayed at the Park Inn International. We had a 2 room suite--one room had 2 double beds, the other room had a double bed and a sleeper sofa. There were 2 TVs, a microwave, fridge and small wet bar area. The room was comfortable, but there was only one bathroom. The Park Inn is just a few doors down from the BW Park Place, so it's easy walking distance to DLR.

We have 6 to 7 people everytime and we always stay at the staybridge suites. It is right down the street and it GREAT. If you go to Getawaytoday.com they have great deals which include park hoppers. It is a 2 room 2 bath suite and is PERFECT. It also has a full breakfast included every morning.
You can get an ART pass for 12 bucks for adults for 5 days and they will take you to the parks. It is the best place we found and is reasonable!!

We also are a family of 6, and through recommendations of others, and help getting a good rate, we are going to try it out the Homewood Suites! On the website, if you stay 5-12 days, it's $119/night, I got it even cheaper!
The family that recommends it, has a teenager who is 17, and eat lots! They say it worth the savings of the meals! They have a free hot breakfast and free good dinner, they tell me! Like. lasgana, with bread sticks/salad, or pot roast; Dinners, on Mon-Thurs only. Plus, they have separate bedroom, 2 queens, and hide a bed, with a kitchen, and free shuttle to the parks. I'm going to plan around the day, and come back and eat. WDW on the otherhand was so large, we never came back to use our kitchen. I'm counting on saving my money on some meals. :) :earsgirl:

We stayed in Homewood in 2000-we had taken my parents with us on this trip. We loved it there also. They treated us well and we had plenty of room. :earsgirl:

We are a family of 5 and have the Embassy Suites booked for a week next week. I checked out trip advisor and they rated pretty high and their price was pretty good.
They have a free breakfast and a managers event in the evening providing free drinks and snacks. I will definately post back when we get back to let everyone know what we thought.

We're a group of 6, possibly 7, and we'll be staying in the penthouse suite at Residence Inn Maingate. Haven't been yet, but everything I've heard about it sounds great! :)

Thanks! I will look in to these. I am not finding a lot...seems that the hotels that have these rooms are sold out of them?
I did find the Garden Grove one. What is the transportation situation for that??
