View Full Version : Journey to lose 100 lbs. (support welcome)

I'm new here! :wave2: Well, I've been lurking for a bit and finally got the courage to begin a weight lose journal.
My weight has really gotten out of control over the past 5 yrs. I've been overweight most of my adult life, but gained about 60 lbs. in the past 5 yrs. I'm very much an emotional eater and know that I have to find better/healthier ways to handle stress, my feelings, etc.
I'm down about 9 lbs. so far and feeling very positive about that. In the past I lost 50 lbs. on WW and can't believe I gained it all back. Ugh. So, even though it's really hard to lose the weight, I'm almost more worried about being able to keep it off and make life-long changes.
Look forward to getting to know you all. I need all the help I can get on this journey!!

Welcome! I'm an emotional eater too, and I've found daily journal writing to be really helpful in that regard. It's great to have a place to express those emotions instead of eating, and what's even better is the support you receive from others who are going through the same thing.
Remember that it's a journey; 100 pounds looms large at the beginning, but once you start breaking it down into smaller daily, weekly, and monthly goals, it becomes much more managable. :)

I had a busy day at work. Pretty productive, but I still have a lot of work to do. After work I went to the Disney Store and bought a birthday present. I almost bought some Buzz pj's on sale for DS, but decided he didn't really need them. I resisted all the sweet treats and the mall! Yea! I thought about getting some M&M's the whole drive home, but I resisted! Yea!
Tomorrow will be another busy day. I need to plan ahead what I'll make for dinner. I'm always so hungry when I get home that I have a tendency to snack on something unhealthy. My goal is to plan better.

So, I bought some M&Ms tonight. The bad is I ate almost all of a King size bag. I appalled that it was nearly 500 calories. But I ate it anyway. It was good, but honestly not as good as I remember. So, I think it was really just old habits. The good is that I only got the King size. In the past I would have bought one of the bigger bags and eaten half tonight and the rest tomorrow. Regardless, I ate at least 400 cals. over today. I'm afraid to step on the scale tomorrow. I'll just try to really stay OP tomorrow. No cheats and lots of water. I can do it!!!! I will do it!!!

I've noticed that I'm tired earlier. I used to easily stay up until midnight. Now I'm exhausted by 10, sometimes 9 PM. I'm not tired during the day. Wonder if this is a result of dieting? Hmmm.

08-12-2005, 11:24 AM
The problem with depriving yourself of seomthing that you REALLY want is that you get to the point that you want it so bad, you go overboard. I don't think that you went totally overboard with the M&M'S. Yes, you could have made a better choice, but you are still HUMAN!! Now you have gotten the M&M temptation out of the way and you can start over! Every day brings fresh hope. Don't be so hard on yourself. Like you said, you could have gotten a BIG bag. Good retraint on your part. See...that shows that you are concentrating more on what you are eating. That's a big step forward. Keep going!!!

I agree with Karyn, don't be too hard on yourself. It could have been worse. Tomorrow is always a new day and you can start over.
Keep up the good work. You can and will do this!
Have a great weekend

Thank you guys for your support! Much appreciated.
Today is off to a decent start. My challenges always come later in the day though. I can easily stay OP up until dinner - then dinner and late night snacking can undue a whole day of being "good". I am making meatloaf for dinner w/ lean ground beef and turkey. I think I'll just have a salad with mine and make some other sides for the rest of the family.
I need to go make one of those neat little weight loss tickers for my signature!

Things are going pretty well. I'm staying on track pretty well.
Yesterday I had a smallish pieces of birthday cake. It was yummy! I did walk about a mile yesterday also. I hardly ever exercise and that's something I hope to change. But for now, that was really good for me to get out and walk w/ the kids and dh.
Today I had some soup and a meal repl. bar and both have not tasted good. Just not satisfying my taste buds :( I have some SF jello to make. I better do that so it has time to set. I think weekends are harder because there's less structure and more free time - easier to snack, etc.h

I have a really hard time on the weekends. I have to FORCE myself to behave on Sundays. I usually give myself a little break on Saturday so that I don't crave things all week long. I allow myself to eat treats ONLY on Saturday. That has worked for me so far. If I want it during the week, I can always look forward to Saturday!! :cool1:
Have a great rest of the weekend!! :flower:

Emotional eaters unite! I know where you are coming from. Good luck on your journey. I was talking with someone today about habits and making good habits. It takes three months! So, we have to work on making positive choices for 90plus days to see a change in our mind. Don't be too dissapointed about the M&Ms, but just learn from your mistake and keep going. You can do this. You did it before with WW and you know what it takes - eating right, exercising more, being vigilant. We are all on this journey together.

Welcome!!!!
I can be an emotional eater as well but I seem to have squashed that some. I've had a hard time this weekend kicking the cravings that have come back. And because I haven't written things down I ate worse than I have in 6 weeks. So the important part for me is writing everything down I put in my mouth.
Keep up the good work and come here for all the support you need - everyone here is AWESOME!!!!!
Keep on

Yes! I agree w/ all you guys. I know quite a few people manage their weight/cravings by having one day a week to eat what they want. I think it's a good idea that I may try once I get the weight off.
I'm really liking this journal. i think it's a great habit write down what I eat and my feelings.
Tonight I had a big dinner. It was pork chop (big one) and a tortellini pasta salad (FF dressing). I really shouldn't have eaten so much, but I think I still did OK for the day since breakfast and lunch were light. I'll eat my jello later. I worked in the yard for about an hour this afternoon, so I consider that my exercise for today.
The things I'm already improved on are night snacking. I used to to terrible about snacking in front of the TV. Now I have one small snack like a skinny cow or nothing at all!!!! And my sugar craving is definetely less.
Later - will try to read some other journals and still need to make a ticker for my sig.
Monday will be my official weigh-in day for the week.

today was rather uneventful. I didn't make the best dinner choice - poor planning on my part. I was hungry when I got home, so I ate the rest of the tortellini pasta salad. The kids ate some too, so it wasn't that much. then I ate about a cup of the Kraft mac and cheese that I made for the kids. So, not the best use of calories - bad carbs and fat. I should have defrosted some meat, but I didn't have the energy to cook it just for me (DH was out).

Happy that my kids didn't watch any TV this morning. They have gotten into a very bad habit or watching 1.5 -2 hrs. of TV in the morning and eating their breakfast in front of the TV. I feel this is largely due to laziness on the part of DH and I. We are not morning people, but our kids are. :confused3 My Dd is naturally slim - just seems to be the way her body is made. DS is a bit chubby and has always liked to eat, so I don't want to set him up w/ bad eating and couch potato habits.
Went well today: Ate only 2/3 of my burritto at dinner. Stopped when I was full. What a novel idea LOL!
Needs improvement: Water. Haven't been keeping track and I need to. Don't think I'm drinking enough.

Pretty uneventful day. Work was pretty good, except I lost a paper w/ some important notes on it.
Did a good job staying on OP - hope the scale will reflect that. I had a lean cuisine lasagne for dinner and it was really good. I'd been getting into a rut and finding my regular fare quite unappealing.
Went well: went into the grocery today and wasn't tempted to buy anything I didn't need!!
needs improvement: exercise - got get moving

Went out to Mexican food tonight. That kind of blew it for today. I didn't make a great choice of entree - could have chosen something healthier. However, it was better than in the past. I only ate about chips and salsa (mainly because the entree came so quickly) and a couple bites of rice and beans - just ate my taco and enchilada. I think the most important thing is that I see a difference in my thinking. I used to just quit and make overeating an excuse to just continue overeating. Now I just keep going w/ my plan.
Also, went to Costco and not tempted at all to buy something I shouldn't have!!
Pretty good day overall. Got quite a few things done.
Went well: I did eat in moderation. Didn't stuff myself like it was the last time I'd have Mexican!
Needs improvement: choice of entree at restaurant. I could have chosen a salad. I find restaurants a big challenge - large portions and a desire/habit of over indulging in fattening foods.

flakypuff - you can get the scale ticker at tickerfactory.com It's easy to make one and then put it in your signature.
Today was fairly good for food choices.
Breakfast was a meal replacement shake
Lunch - we end up going out to California Pizza Kitchen. I was so happy w/ my choice. I got a half order of BBQ chicken salad w/ dressing on the side. I used almost no dressing, but it had cheese and tortilla strips in it (along w/ greens, tomatoes, BBQ chicken, black beans, corn). It had so much flavor, it really didn't need dressing. Delicious!
Dinner - Chicken breast and peas. Dinner wasn't very tasty. Chicken was bland and peas were the only veggies we had (need to grocery shop). I resisted having a starch
Dessert - skinny cow (love those)
went well - choice at the restaurant today
needs improvement - water. I don't drink as much on weekends, no water cooler like at work.

Well, today ended up being a splurge too - although I'd say it was a controlled splurge. It's all about control and I have to say that I feel really in control of my eating. Binging or emotional eating was out of control. So, today I had quite a bit of popcorn at the movie theater (this was my lunch) and I chose to have dessert tonight (small piece of cake, with fresh fruit and a bit of whipped cream). Like I said, I feel OK about those choices. We'll see what the scale says tomorrow - I may not feel so OK about it then!!!
went well today: fruit and veggies
needs improvement: exercise

Today's been good. Totally OP. Still need to get my exercise in. I've been thinking of joining Curves and may do that after Labor Day. I've been really busy the past few days and it's just going to be a busy week. I have a lot of errands to do my house to clean. I have my parents coming in from out of state on Sat. and on Sun. we're having a combined bday party for both kids.
TV is all repeats, so I keep watching Food Network. That has got to be a bad idea LOL! Everything looks so good, it's like torturing myself.

Goal for tomorrow is to exercise. I need to do it in the AM, otherwise I'm bound to get busy and not do it. Eating is going OK. I have to say I'm a bit hungry though. Tomorrow is my day off. I have a bunch of errands to run, some work to do from home, and I have to clean the house since I have house guests coming. The day off always gets eaten up by this kind of stuff.
I'm so anxious to fit into some smaller clothes. I'm down close to 20 lbs from my all time high. I guess my clothes must have been really tight because, except for a couple items, they all still fit fine. I'm hoping that 10 lbs. more and I'll be able to fit into a bunch of the stuff I have. I weighted 232 for at least a year, so I think that's the weight I need to be to wear some things in my closet. How much do I need to lose before it's noticable??? I guess I'll find out....

Semi productive day. Didn't get all my cleaning done. Have house guests (parents) coming tomorrow. I'll procrastinate and do the what really needs cleaning most tomorrow afternoon.
Finding myself very hungry at 9 or 10 PM. I know a lot of people frown upon evening eating, but I wonder if I'd be better off eating something healthy and small rather than feeling unsatisfied (which tends to lead to binging).
Exercise today was another walk to the park w/ the kids. It's not too far, but I pull them both in the wagon and that's gotta be about 100 lbs. The love going in the wagon and have been very happy with our two trips this week. I'll have to keep this up :)

Finding myself very hungry at 9 or 10 PM. I know a lot of people frown upon evening eating, but I wonder if I'd be better off eating something healthy and small rather than feeling unsatisfied (which tends to lead to binging).
Well, the way I see it a) a calorie is a calorie whether you eat it as 9pm or 9am. I know not everyone agrees with that, but for every study that suggests evening eating is metabolized differently, there's one that says it isn't. Your body will tell you if it's an issue for you. B) I don't know about you, but I can't get to sleep when I'm hungry. If I try to go to bed and just tough though it, I wind up tossing and turning for hours. I'd rather have the snack and sleep well.
Now--about Curves. It's a pretty good setup. They run women-only gyms in storefronts and little stand alone shops (mine is a converted Pizza Hut). You go there and all the machines are set up in a circle. In between each machine there is a foam board. You get on the circuit wherever you want and you stay at each station for 30 seconds. There is music and a cue that tells you to change stations. Each machine works a different muscle group. You work the machine as hard as you can, then you move off to the little foam boards which are called Recovery Stations. When you're on the Recovery Station you can walk, jog, or dance to keep your heart rate up and get a cardio workout. You go around the whole circuit twice, which makes a 26 minute workout. Add a few minutes to stretch and you're done in half an hour!
I don't find the environment intimidating--in fact, they really market toward women who have never joined a gym before or who are beginners to exercise. When you join the person working at the club will take you around the circle and show you how to use each of the machines. They're always there to help if you've got problems. At my club you could sign up for a month-to-month membership with no contract. It was more expensive, but you had the freedom to cancel when you wanted.
One thing to note is that the people who founded the company are very conservative and evangelical Christians. This sometimes comes through at the clubs in their advertising posters, in the book/products they try to promote, and in the fact that some clubs play at least some Christian music for the workouts. Mine doesn't, but the one down the street does. It may not matter to you, but I thought I'd throw it out there as an FYI.
Hope you have a great weekend!

pearlieq,
thank you so much for all the info!
I tend to agree about the night time eating.
Interesting about Curves and Christianity. I've never heard that before. I've been meaning to go check out the one down the street. They are literally all over my area.
Onto the general update:
I've been soooo good! I hope it pays off on the scale tomorrow!!! Hosted a bday party at my house today. Didn't cheat at all. Not even a lick of frosting. I really wanted to eat the chex mix! And I was buys hosting, so I don't think anyone even noticed that I didn't eat.
My parents came in yesterday. Haven't seen them in 4 mos. They didn't notice my weight loss, so that offically confirms that my first 20 lbs. gone is not noticable at all...bummer. Definitely have some clothes fitting better, though.

Jackie -- Congratulations on your success at the party yesterday! That success is something you will take with you into the next challenging situation and you will go into it with confidence that you can succeed! :cheer2:
As for your parents not noticing -- don't think that that means your huge success so far is not noticeable! Sometimes I think my parents didn't say anything because they just didn't know what to say or how I would take it. Don't let it affect how you feel about what you have accomplished -- it is awesome! As long as you can see a difference and feel a difference in your clothes, you KNOW that you are making great progress. That must be a huge source of pride for you!
Keep up the great work

Still plugging along and doing well. I have fantasies about cheating, but don't! I hate dieting!! Can't I just wake up when it's over and I'm thin???
We're going away this weekend and that will be a big challenge. But even worse is that I pulled out my bathing suit - bought it 2 yrs. ago for a vacation and I don't think I've worn it since. Well, it's two sizes two small :guilty: and I refuse to buy a new one just for this trip. Please tell me how I can possibly squeeze into it??? Oh my...just be glad you won't be there to see it!
OK- I just remembered that I did go in the pool at Disney last Fall. I don't see how I could have fit in this suit...and yet I can't find any other bathing suits in my drawer.

It's been a rough week here. We found out that our good friends' 3 y.o. is diagnosed w/ leukemia! What a total shock. She was just at our house less than 2 weeks ago. My heart is just breaking and it's all I can think about. I feel awful for them...and it freaks me out as a parent myself. They live about an hour away, so it's just far enough to be inconvenient and not practical to go help out a lot. I will try though. Another friend had a baby 3 wks. ago and the baby had seizures and possibly liver problems. She's home from NICU now and doing better. I cooked dinner for them and brought it over last night. And I'm cohosting a baby shower for another friend next weekend - much to do. Anyway, as you can see I'm swamped. Can't get my house cleaned and feel generally overwhelmed.
Good news is that I'm doing great w/ my diet. I am very strict w/ what I can and can't eat and that's helping a lot. There is no gray area - that's where I run into problems. I haven't made time to exercise this week. I need to do that, but am really lacking for time.
Hope you all are doing well and thanks to everyone who's been visiting and supporting me!

I'm set up to go to Curves tomorrow for the first time. Wish me luck. I'm soooo out of shape.
Been doing well w/ water. Not too hard when I'm at work, it's Fri-Sun. that I struggle to get it in.
Big challenge on Sun. I'm co-hosting a baby shower.

We'll I've been to Curves twice - Fri. and Mon. It's pretty good. Challenging but doable. I'm stuggling to find time to go though. Should be better next month (i'm short on child care until then).
Work's been moderately busy. I'm supervising a new intern and he needs quite a bit of hand holding. I'm not too impressed with him... Maybe because last year I had a great intern.
Had an old filling replaced today. The dentist did it really fast. I was impressed.
Our little friend with leukemia is supposed to come home from the hospital on Fri., so that's great news. She's doing reasonably well. She has a lot of treatment yet to come - including losing her hair. She was referred to the make a wish foundation, so maybe she'll be able to go to Disney.

Jackie, sending prayers & pixie dust to your friend's child. What a shock that must be for them.
Congrats on the weightloss so far. I went to Curves about 3 years ago & loved it. They were always very supportive. The manager at our Curves had lost 100lbs. She showed me before & after pics, and it was totally amazing. She was everyone's inspiration.

Hi! Thanks to everyone who's come by and given support :)
My friend's daughter is coming home from the hospital tomorrow! :) They're so happy. Another friend and I are going to one of these places where you can assemble a month's worth of meals using their food and recipes. Then we'll take it over to our friend so she doesn't have to cook. I don't know how I'll do being around all that food tomorrow....
Scale was up 1 lb. from Monday. Grrrr. I hate that when you're good and then the scale goes up anyway. Hopefully it will correct itself! LOL. I've really been doing well w/ exercise this week. Maybe that has something to do with it. I've been to Curves twice and will go today also. I also got our my walk away the pounds tape and did that once this week. I'm proud of myself. I have never liked exercise or physical activity.

Well, I was rather disappointed at only losing 1 lb. last week. Hopefully this week will be better.
Went to Curves and walked today! Yeah for me!
I just ate some ravioli and really want some more...I'm so trying to restrain myself.

Way to go on the exercise!!!! I know you can resist the ravioli! You can do it!
Keep up the good work.
You are doing great.
Happy Wednesday!

Thanks! I have to say though...it's frustrating that as I increase my exercise my weight loss has slowed a lot. I hate that. I really hope it will show on the scale soon or in how my clothes fit.
I did resist the raviolli! I only had my small portion and that was it.
Sorry I haven't read and offered support to anyone in a while. I will try to do that soon!

Hi, Jackie! You are doing so well with your exercise and in being so disciplined about food! Please do NOT worry about what is happening on the scale. I have been there so many times and it is so good to remind ourselves that we are creating a whole new lifestyle and becoming healthier in so many ways. I bet you will see such a big difference in how your clothes fit as a direct result of your exercise. Eventually, you'll see satisfying progress on the scale, too, but enjoy the sense of self-satisfaction you HAVE to feel for all that you are accomplishing.
Congratulations and keep up the great work! :goodvibes:
BTW -- how did that "cook for a month" process go?

Thank you for all the encouragement. I know you're right. It's just hard to not obsess w/ the scale.
The cooking for the month experience went well. The actually food preparation was very easy...so nice not to have to prep or clean up. All we did was assemble according to the directions and package in the bag or container for the freezer. Our only complaint was it was a bit crowded. I know there are several companies that do this. The meals were for a friend, so I don't know first hand how they taste, but they looked quite good. As for the day and managing my own food, it went well also. I was concerned that the friend I went with would want to stop for lunch, but she didn't. We each just had a snack with us and we stopped for coffee, so that was good. I was hungry when I got home, but that's OK. I'd rather that than eating fast food or something like that.
Just walked my kids aroung the block. Not too far, but I pull them in the wagon and that's about 100 lbs! They really like going for walks and we now go any day we have time.

Friday night I cheated. :( I pigged out on take-out Mexican with some friends. The worst part is that the food wasn't even that good. This was a spur of the moment decision. Negative peer pressure, I guess. I much would have cheated on something planned for and really yummy.
Anyway, it's not the end of the world. I've been back on track the last two days.
For a while I've believed this theory that a binge or big jump in calories can actually break a plateau. Curious what the rest of you think. Maybe I'm just trying to make myself feel better!! The Mexican food doesn't seem to have negatively affected the scale. Perhaps the neg. effect is that it encourages me to cheat again if it doesn't cause me to gain wt.

You are doing great, even with your cheat!

Congrats on those 2 pounds lost - that is awesome!!!!
I do have to say that I totally believe now in the mixing up your calories intake. Every couple of days it appears that I tend to increase my calories, not really realizing I am and only by about 100 or 200 calories and then I experience a loss. That happened to me a few weeks ago and it happened to me just the last couple of days. I was being very religious with my food and then yesterday blew it and had some GOOD yummy sugar items and I lost a pound. My scale hadn't moved for a few days. Who knows. I have noticed that in the past though when I've lost weight, I do need to have some sort of sugared food or chocolate once every couple of days to keep my metabolism going. If I go a week without that, I hardly lose. It's very weird!
Keep up the good work - I know you can do this!
Keep on

A couple people at work have noticed my weight loss - AT LAST! That felt good. I'm having a good week and feeling great with the exception of my left foot. About 7-10 days ago I developed significant pain on the top of my foot. It's really painful at times and I've been taking some motrin and icing it. I'm pretty sure the exercise at Curves is aggrevating it, but I really don't want to stop going. I'm just gettting on a roll with it. I have no idea why it's hurting/injured. I don't remember doing anything to it.

Hi!!!!
Don't push yourself too hard if you are sore/injured. I would suggest going to the doctor to see if they can tell you what you did??? Just an idea!
Doesn't it feel great when people start to notice??? I love it!!!!
Hope you are having a wonderful Friday! Keep up the great work!

Hi Jackie!
Isn't it great when other people start noticing your weight loss?
Please take care of your foot. I know it may just be a temporary thing that will go away on its own, but I would hate to see it get worse. Better to treat it so it doesn't become a problem later. :)

I decided to make an appt. for my foot. Experience tells me things don't usually just get better on their own. I call the podiatrist I've seen before for a totally diff. foot problem. Unfortunately, the first appt. isn't until a week from Thurs.
My son has been really sick and now I'm getting sick. My throat started killing tonight. :(
Weight loss is good, though. I'm having fun trying on some of my old clothes and finding they fit again!

Sorry to hear that your son is sick. And now you are getting it! Yuck!!!!
Hope you both get well soon.
Take it easy until you are able to see the doctor....hopefully they will find whatever is wrong!
Keep up the great work, and get well soon

I'm feeling better. Never got as sick as I was expecting. But I did take it easy at work and with working out for a couple days. Went to Curves today though and will go tomorrow (I don't usually go Sat., but I missed two days mid-week). So, my foot feels fine now! Figures- as soon as I make the appt. We'll see, but I'll probably keep it cause if I don't it will no doubt start hurting again! Probably skipping those days at Curves this week helped my foot.

Gave into temptation on Tues night and overate at the mall. The mall is so tempting...so many smells and good food everywhere. Even though I ate before I went, I think I had let myself get over hungry earlier in the day. I had resisted a lot of temptation over the weekend.
I'm feeling good though. I feel better about myself and like the way my clothes fit.

So glad to see things are going well for you. Isn't it fun when you can get back into clothes that didn't fit but use to? I have been experiencing that lately and it's been fun. And things are looking better now than when I originally bought them. It's like Christmas in my closet!!!! :)

I obviously haven't been very good about journaling.
The good news is that I'm down 50 lbs. from my all time high weight! I feel soooo good! Really, I can hardly believe how great I'm feeling physically and emotionally.
The not so good is that I'm having more and more trouble staying OP. I'm cheating more and I really don't want to get back into bad habits. I still need to lose about 60 lbs.

Not much going on here. Busy w/ lots of Halloween activities for the kids. I've been really good at resisting the treats. I know I'm going out to lunch on Mon. w/ coworkers, so I'm trying to be good until then. I've already decided I'll be getting a salad w/ dressing on the side, but still it will be a treat and more calories than I normally eat for lunch.
Scale's been stuck all week. I hope to see it move again tomorrow!!
Goal for tomorrow is to get some exercise. I didn't do any today.
Thanks for the support :)

Things are going well. I have eaten NO Halloween candy!!! I was tempted, but I'm kicking this sugar habit!
A couple other successes:
Went out to lunch w/ everyone from my dept. I got a wonderful big salad w/ chicken breast, fresh veggies, and mango and orange w/ the dressing on the side. I wish I'd resisted eating the bread. However, this is a good choice compared to the pasta and pizza most people had.
Also, on Tues. I really exercised my willpower. The previous two Tues. nights I got takeout on my way home from work. This was becoming a BAD habit and I broke it! I really thought about it as I was really craving some Mexican. That 7:00 time is when I'm weak so I'm going to play to eat something before I leave work and not be starving when I drive by all the restaurants.

Hi,
I've been terrible about updating and journaling. I really need to get back to it. I'm doing pretty well - still losing :) I do find myself eating "bad" foods on more and more occassions. I want to try to limit splurges to once a week at most. This week I went out w/ friends and had a wonderful (and greasy) pizza. I ate it all! And then I had McDonald's last night. I really should have passed on that. When I looked up the calories, it actually wasn't as bad as I thought - still not healthy, though. I'm really pleased w/ my exercise. My new fav activity is walking around the mall - LOL. I can do it for an hour or two and it doesn't feel like exercise :) Curves is good, too. I go 4 days a week.
Will be back later this week to discuss Turkey Day...and also need to start thinking about Disney trip (I'm excited, but also nervous about gaining).
