We are soooo excited here!!! This will be our first cruise ever, I think we are going to have a wonderful time. I need to go get some sand buckets and shovels before summer is totally over for the beach day.
That is so wonderful that you will be celebrating a birthday on board!

My DH and I will be on this cruise also. My birthday is in November and my three DD's surprised me with an early birthday gift--a Disney cruise! I am thrilled!!!! Neither my DH nor I have ever been on a cruise before so it will be an exciting adventure. Hope to see you all there.

We just checked out our room number on line, looking at stuff to do off the ship and getting all our papers in order. We are really excited! I get the feeling that we will wish we had a longer cruise though when it is all over.
I am starting to think about door decorations. Anyone else doing them??
mwaldron
09-14-2005, 10:53 AM
I want to do door decorations, but I am clueless. I might pay someone else to come up with something....I am domestically challenged.
Deb Quen of Colorado
09-14-2005, 11:20 AM
from what I have read, the door decorations are easy-peasy! I bet you can do a seach for the threads on the main cruise board and fiond them.
pretty much it's whatever you want with magnets on the back. Some people did photos or print outs with their names on it. I think I'll just do something that says.. Deb! This is your room :)

Add us to the thread -- me, DH, DD (5) and DS (1). This was a last minute cruise so we just booked a few weeks ago. Yeah! I am so excited. This is our 4th Disney cruise and we can not wait to go!
mwaldron
09-15-2005, 07:39 AM
No Deb. I am SERIOUSLY clueless. If I do it myself, you'll se like a magic-markered stick-figure Mickey, mounted with scotch tape-and you'll know it's my cabin!!!! 7 weeks, people. I know that because DS turns 8 tomorrow; and DD turns 7 on 11/4-and they are 1 year, 7 weeks apart......guess I was clueless about birth control too.
Deb Quen of Colorado
09-15-2005, 06:57 PM
I hear ya on the birth control thing! We just lucked out having them 2 1/2 years apart.
My 2 boys, 13 and 10, have been checking out the Disney site and clicking on all the things to do on the ship. I have been making mental lists of things to pack. We are still thinking about excurtions and such. I want to do the Pirate museum in Nassau, but I think we'd be ok if we decided to just stay on the ship and play.

Hi all,
I just finished booking the 3 Nov cruise and wish it wasn't a month-and-a-half away. It'll just be me(50), solo.
Deb, where are you in Colo? I spent a lot of years in Colo Spgs until I moved to Texas in 1999.

Deb,
You probably won't see anything till about 3 weeks out and if memory serves me correctly, they'll be delivered UPS.
As for excursions, I haven't decided about Nassau, but I may go back to Atlantis. Castaway Cay will be parasailing and the Personal Watercraft Eco-Tour, plus some time on the adult beach Serenity Bay.:cool1:
Anyone else?

We're doing the Catamaran reef sail and snorkel. Very seriously considered staying on the ship-but that one seems to get pretty good reviews.

Ok, we need some more activity on this thread!
I'm calling perfect gift right now and ordering a gift basket for the kids. I don't want to try to pack sand buckets and I definitely don't want to pay Castaway Cay pricing!
Also, I keep thinking about a day room at the Atlantis. I missed out on the $99 rate (we just booked this cruise a little over a month ago). Is anyone going to the Atlantis?
Have fun,
Jennifer

I have been thinking about the sand toys too. My boys are older and would rather play in the ocean, but without waves there won't be any boarding.
Trying to find beach toys in Colorado during halloween season is going to be tough!

Hey Deb,
When you see the UPS truck pull up you have to run out and grab the driver and shake them till the document package falls out of their pocket! After a while they won't make deliveries to your neighborhood unless they have a DCL treasure chest to hand to you!:scared1:
Deb Quen of Colorado
10-08-2005, 12:57 PM
Now, usually when the UPS guy drops off a package for me there is glitter leaving a trail from the truck to my door. Something like that tends to make them rememember you.
I am kinda hopeful that they arrive when the kids are home. It'll be more exciting for them.

So, our docs will arrive soon? I printed some stuff off the DCL web site. Is this the same stuff?

The document package you get through UPS contains:
- a booklet with facts and information about the ship, dining, customs & immigration, children's programs, and all kinds of other stuff.
- your cruise contract (in the form of a small booklet with tear-out pages). Included in this booklet is the signature form for your cruise contract, emergency contact information form, credit card authorization form, transfers (if you included any DCL ground transfers in your cruise purchase), and some other things. You will need to take this contract booklet with you on the cruise.
- Bahamas immigration document
- your colored DCL baggage tags that you will attach to your luggage before you give it to the porter at the cruise terminal.

Deb, thanks for saying hi on my other thread. Can we do a kid (and kid at heart) roll call? My DS8 and DD(turning)7 will be in different kids' clubs, so I'd love to know if they have some company. DH and I will be the 2 adults doing as little as humanly possible while still allowing the kids to have fun. We are SUCH lazy vacationers....we work too hard in our real lives.
Deb Quen of Colorado
10-09-2005, 08:55 AM
I have 2 sons.. 10 and 13, 4th and 7th grades. I don't know if they will be into the kids club stuff or not. This is our get a taste of what a cruise is like cruise.
We watched the DCL show that was on the travel channel last night. I kept saying I can't wait to be there! The kids aren't so impressed yet, but bring up room service and their eyes get big.

Keeping an eye open for those documents today. Deb, this is our second cruise: We took a Carnival 4 day in 2003 and were really underwhelmed. It's the Disney mystique that has us giving it another try. DD won't know until we surprise her the night before; and I think that I'm missing experiencing her excitement build. We surprised DS with a birthday Disney world trip 2 years ago, and it was priceless, the look on his face (at 4am) when we told him we were about to fly to Orlando!

Hi everyone. Just found this site! We are on the Nov 3 trip also. Me, daughter (29) grandson, his birthday is Nov 3 and he will be 12! Its a surprise for him, he thinks we are going to Cape Canaveral! Looks like tons of fun!

Welcome! My DD's b-day is 11/4 (she turns 7), and we're surprising her too! I think we are going to tell her the night of the 2nd at dinner: We have to be up at about 3 am for our flight- and 2 years ago we surprised DS with a WDW trip, and we left on that same early flight. DS and DD were still half asleep when we told them their surprise!

Thanks for the welcome! I am sure she will be so excited!
We have surprised Thomas before, once with Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween, and once with Christmas, but this one is the big one! We live in Florida, so we are driving down to Cocoa Beach the night before and staying there and telling him we are going to Cape Canaveral... he won't figure it out until we get to the dock!
Are the kiddos going to dress up for Pirate Night? pirate:
p.s. what does DS and DD mean?
Getting really excited here! Started packing already... and unpacking of course !!!! :cool1:

Question for those "seasoned travelers" among us. How do you go about finding out about upgrades?
mwaldron
10-24-2005, 05:53 PM
Yes, my "dear son" (DS) will dress as a pirate, and my "dear daughter" (DD) will be some sort of princess, probably Jasmine. As for upgrades, this is my first Disney cruise; but it looks from recent trip reports as if you can ask if any upgrades are available at check in. There is a fee involved; but often it is a better deal than if you had booked that stateroom in advance.

We are staying close to the airport the night before. Doing the Disney transfers this time. Too many now things with this trip to try to do it all on our own. and, I like the idea of it all being taken care of :)
The kiddos have 1 set of grandparents that live in Florida, they are coming up to stay that night at the same hotel to see the kids. Grandpa has been very sick and can not travel far, so this is good for him to see the kids and them to see him too.
I am just so excited!!!! Trying to get everything in order for us to go, thinking about packing and all the details.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first Disney cruise.
3 nights was perfect for a first try- but next time will be seven nights.
Yes, the water was bumpy that first night- glad we had a cabin on the first deck.
Our rotation was APT.
We ended up in bed after the shows. Did I miss anything?
We went on the morning catamaran ride on Nassua and loved Castaway.
