I made a thread as well but looks like people are noticing yours. My DH and two DD and myself are going on the 10day. We wanted to do the 11day but could not take the kids out of school for 2wks. So we are just so happy to be on the 10day.

Wow

What is it with the 10 night ?

are the prices about the same ??

is there another thread ?

have a great Cruise..

gabbysmom04

I think the price is a little lower. Though it seems to me that there are a lot more people on the 11 night then the ten.

We're looking at the 10-night simply because the dates work better for us. I'm still waiting for my wife to give me the go ahead to book (it always comes down to the wife ;)

gabbysmom04
08-12-2005, 03:21 PM
I get the feeling that no one wants to go on the ten night cruise. I am wondering if I should have tried for the 11 night. Is there something about the 10 night I am not aware of? :confused3

WeLuvDCL
08-12-2005, 03:39 PM
I'm getting the same feeling! I guess we will just have to lurk on the 11 night thread and hope more people join in soon.

I thought it would be exciting to be the FIRST to do Southern Caribbean on the Wonder, we'll be on the inaugural visit to Barbados (I think) and we are only missing one port. And I just can't swing the 11 night vacation time.

I'll have to do some research on St. Kitt and see what we are missing.

kris1973
08-12-2005, 04:25 PM
I have been getting the same feeling ..... whats up with the 10 night. The price is only a bit lower. The main reason we are not doing the 11 night is because it takes the kids out of school for 2wks. The 10night is less time out of school.

Is it possible that disney woudl cancell the 10night if they don't sell enough?

Kristin

WeLuvDCL
08-12-2005, 04:58 PM
I highly doubt they would cancel it. I've heard they have already compensated those that were booked on the 3 and 4 night cruise that the 10 and 11 night are replacing. If the ship is still not booked a few months before the cruise they will probably offer FL resident discounts - or at least I hope!

gometros
08-12-2005, 06:33 PM
Good. maybe if they don't sell as well as expected they'll allow DVC points to be used.

gabbysmom04
08-12-2005, 08:23 PM
I wish there was a way to see how many people have booked. There are a ton of posts on the 11 night. I think this is a great cruise. Although I was in such a frenzy to book this I never really looked into the price diff. between the two. I am very happy with our cruise! maybe we will get upgrades!

WeLuvDCL
08-12-2005, 09:04 PM
I'm hoping to use DVC points too. I'm pretty sure the eventually allowed DVC points for the 14-night Panam Canal cruise, so I'm hopeful!

The price difference between the 10 and 11 night was only $150-$300 I think depending on category. If it was just a money issue, I'd change in a heartbeat. But it's the way the days fall that makes this one more appealing for us. My husband works 4 - 10 hour (actually 11 hour) days, Mon-Thurs and only gets one week vacation, so we take a lot of long weekends to Disney! With the 11 night I would use 3 more vacation days which limits my long weekend vacations and hubby would miss 4 UNPAID work days. With this cruise I'll save 3 vacation days and DH will only miss 1 unpaid day which means money and time for three more long weekend getaways!

I am not sure what the deal is with the 11 day cruise. I was looking into both and this is the one I wanted to book. However, I am unable to book at this time.

If I can convince DH to book another cruise I will be on this one. At this time we are taking our 3rd in Sept and he said that is it for now. I hope to talk him into booking while on our cruise 9/17. A few bottles of wine should help!

I am sure you will all have a great time. I do know that alot of the cruisers from the 10/06 cruise (dismeet, I think Cruisetoberfest?) switched to the 11 day. That may be why it grew so fast. I think about 20 ressies changed?!

We were displaced from the 9/17/06 4 night. What a surprise getting a call from DCL stating that the iteneraries have changed and that we'd need to change our dates. At first couldn't decide between the 11 and 10 night but settled on the 10 as DS's birthday is 9/9 and thought that would be extra special. :D We are still waiting to find out some final plans but think that those dates will work out well for us. Actually DH has put in a transfer to FL and if we do move it will be no problem... if we don't move then we have to decide if we want to take that many days out for the cruise and only have one day per park which is hard with DS as we typically don't spend the entire day in the park. Funny thing is that I've always said that we'd save the longer cruises until we moved down there... so maybe it's a "sign."

Can't wait... I could really use a cruise about now.

Hi skycan I hope you are able to come! I was all over my husband about booking this cruise the night before he was leaving for a work trip. I was crazy! Have a wonderful time on your upcoming cruise.

WELUVDCL, if you were to guess what would you think the points might be for this cruise. I am happy that I will be able to use my points for a sun- thurs stay at WDW after the cruise.

Welcome landmark and skycon! I hope you all are able to join us!

Landmark, What part of FL might you move to?
gabbysmom04, We just joined DVC on the May repo cruise so I'm not sure about the points. We were booked on the May 27 double CC cruise which was a few hundred more than this 10 night. DVC shows that cruise as 206 points pp for a cat 9, so I would assume it would be close to 200 pp for a cat 9 on the 10 night. If they open it up for DVC, we'll probably use half points and half cash.

Oh and I forgot. It will be me, DH, DD who will then be 14 (gasp!) and DS who will turn 8 on the ship. This will be their first cruise and they are VERY excited.

That's great news that your parents are joining you. I know they will love it! Don't forget to tell Disney or your travel agent about your sons birthday. They will ask you what night you want to celebrate and bring him a cake and pin (I think they still do the pin).

I still can't believe we don't have that many people posting. I'm going to work on a door magnet tonight....we can't let the 11-nighters put us to shame. :teeth:

I was going to work on it over weekend but I was grouting tile. Not exactly fun but we should have our kitchen remodel done by Labor day - I hope! I don't know what we were thinking when we decided to do it ourselves - but we have saved a lot of $$$ - which means more Disney vacations!

My Best Friend and I will be going on this one. It is our bi-annual vacation that we take together. We were originally booked on a RCCL cruise, and this one just sounded so much better (of course its DCL). We are actually booked into a insided guarantee room, so if they don't fill it maybe we can get upgraded. :cloud9:

I know my parents will. They came with us to WDW this year, meeting up with us after we got of our three night cruise. Then they spent four days enjoying the parks with us. We all had a blast! So when I said we were going to do it again they didn't need much convincing!

Yes door magnets! I've been thinking about one but haven't actually done it yet... I see you've already posted yours.. Nice! I have no idea what exactly to put on mine. Hmmm brainstorming session! I will have to get mother to do one as well. Actually been trying to get her on the forum as well.

I hear you about the remodeling job! We are doing the same thing!! Except we are in the process of repainting the entire house we also recently put on a new front door but now we are trying to get it fixed up to sell... especially if we get the transfer to FL.

My best friend Kim and I will be joining the 10-day cruise.....booked it today. I hope we can build a great DIS group and plan some fun meet & greet activities. This is my 8th DCL cruise and Kim's 2nd. I brought her along on points way back when when it didn't cost an arm and a leg of points to cruise. We will be in one of the "secret verandah" rooms on deck 7, with late dining. Hopefully we can build some friendships here and link some dinner and Palo reservations.

Here is the link if anyone else would like to add it http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b41/weluvdcl/849ffece.png Just send me a PM if you need help adding it. Can't be a real DIS group w/o a signature graphic! :goodvibes

If you all like the door magnet I created, I would be happy to make one for each of you. I will hopefully have a better printer by the time we get closer to the cruise (this will give me the perfect excuse to buy one...lol). Magnet paper is a little expense so I will laminate them and put magnet strips on the back. Then after the cruise you can peel off the magnets and put the door sign in your scrapbook! I got this idea from another DIS member, thought it was pretty cool.
So, let me know if you think we should make any improvements. I was thinking I should probably add the date?

Dawn,

I see you went on the first Repo cruise. Can you tell us some of the activities they used to entertain you for 14 nights? Perhaps we can start getting an idea of what kind of things we can hope for on the 10 night. Like did they still do pirate night? Did they repeat the shows? Just wondering what they came up with for the longer cruise.

DD and I are in brainstorming phase to plan for door decorating. What fun. Mother is a scrapbooker as well and should have some great ideas. BTW I know she joined the forum and has read this thread but apparantly "forgot" to post a hello. :rotfl:

WeLuvDCL

I could talk for hours (ok, days) about our Panama Canal cruise! :rotfl: It was the best vacation to date!

There were over 300 DISers on board. They planned stateroom tours, scavenger hunt, scrapbooking class, cross stitch class and much more. But DCL had also planned sooo much that the only thing I was able to attend was the scrapbook class. Do you think your Mom woudl be willing to have a scrapbook meet on board and show us some of her secrets?? If I ask her PRETTY PLEASE with sugar on top! :rotfl2:

ok, Disney entertainment on the 14 day cruise...oh, where do I begin. There were no repeat shows....our cruise was the debut of the new Cinderella show, Twice Charmed, we had BoyZ II Men perform, Bob Saget and the muppets, movie premier (Galaxy something), and different entertainment (comedians, juggler and magician). Each dinner was also a different theme and they still did Pirates in the Caribbean (except we weren't in the Caribbean that night...lol). Don "Ducky" Williams was onbaord for part of the cruise and he did a presentation, Jason Surrell (an Disney imagineer) did several presentation about the making of Pirates of the Caribbean, the PoC movie and the making of the Haunted Mansion...he is a great presenter...very funny! The President of DCL was also onboard. The also had presentation about the Panama Canal. oh, and how could I forget, we were able to buy special pins, well some of us were, very long story that involves sleeping in the halls and atrium of the ship! NOT me personally. This provided a lot of material for the comedians.

I was worried about being bored with so many days at sea, but they had so much to do we didn't even sleep in until the 4th day. If they do only half as much on this cruise, I guaranteee we will all be very pleased.

P.S. They also had a very good selection of movies to watch in the stateroom and in the theatre.

News on the "move to florida" front. DH still hasn't heard about the position he applied for (the one he put in for is a paid move position but he could always lateral transfer) However, I did get a call yesterday for an interview for a job that I had applied for. :Pinkbounc If I were to get this position and he didn't then we will still move and he will just lateral transfer rather than get the promotion he put in for.

Our children will be the exact same ages. It would be great if DD's could exchange letters or something in the meantime so that they would have a friend on the ship. DS really loves the kid clubs but DD is "worried" about any teen activities. Is your DD planning to use the teen center at all?

Hello everyone! We just wanted to say hello and introduce ourselves. My wife (Monica) and I (David) are booked for the 10 day Southern Caribbean on the Disney Wonder. In July, I was on the West Coast Disney Magic itinerary and had so much fun it was time to book another one. We hope to get to know everyone in the next year or so and look forward to hearing the cast member announce our name as we enter this ship in September 0f 2006.

Our Vacation begins in 380 Days!

Anyone have any girls that will be around age 10 and 8 for the cruise. My 2 daughters would love to get to know some of the girls before we go.

Thanks Alex! As soon as we find out for sure I know that we will have many questions. Are you going on both the 10 and the 11 day?

Yes we are. Not only are we hooked on DCL, but we have done all the "firsts" and the 11 day is another first. We did the west bound repo for 14 days and stayed onboard for the first West coast 7 day cruise. You don't have to be crazy, but it helps. Alex :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Wow! When we move to FL we plan to do more cruises as well. We really enjoy them. Now we still like to spend time at the parks as well and Kansas is a commute :rotfl: I hope that I can get a job where I can accumulate vacation quickly :rolleyes1

Alex, I was wondering when you were going to join this thread - it is a FIRST! :rotfl: Can't wait to reminisce about the Panama Canal cruise with you!

I think there will be a lot more people joining our thread in a couple weeks. I heard DCL is offering a $500 onboard credit to anyone who books this cruise while on the eastbound Panama cruise (not sure if they are offering this on other cruises). We booked a cruise while on the westbound and then switched it to this one so I'm going to try to get the credit also. I'll let you all know if I'm successful. Oh, the things I could buy with a $500 credit! :goodvibes I'd have to take an extra large empty suitcase! :rotfl: :rotfl:

We booked directly through Disney. Of course we were originally booked for the 9/17/06 4 night but changed to the 10 night when the Sept plans were changed. Yup... they had to twist my arm :rotfl:

What do you do if you want to rebook for the discount and credit but the cruise you want is too far away. For example we want to cruise in 2008 but they will not be booking that far in advance. :confused3

I hope that someone more techno-savvy can figure out how to link the bookings if members of this group want to link dinner reservations to sit in the same area for meals, whether that is early or late seating.

Hi everyone! Kimberly/landmark and I were chatting and thought it would be a good idea to create a new thread that had the very first post contain information about all the DIS events going on for this cruise. That way, whenever someone new joins we can just direct them to the very first post instead of having to repost certain things or have them searching the entire thread. I will also post a message whenever anything is added to the original post. We hope that is okay with everyone. Here is the link to the new thread - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=9673680#post9673680Please begin posting to this thread.

Also, Kimberly came up with a great logo for our group, "How low can we go!" - I thought it was great and we have added it to the new thread name.

Oh and I forgot. It will be me, DH, DD who will then be 14 (gasp!) and DS who will turn 8 on the ship.

One of our dd's will be 15 when we cruise the 10day & our son will be 8 by then. :flower: Our youngest dd will be 5.

We just booked yesterday. ;) And we are thrilled because we were able to get a Cat 2! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We are going on our 1st cruise next month on the Wonder.

I will be the "keeper" of the cruise roster. So if everyone who joins in this thread will post their "crew" details and cabin type, I'll keep track. And I will add the new ones as they find this thread. Evntually I'll get together an e-mail group list for us.

Am I stepping on any toes volunteering for this?

Marilee :flower:

That sounds like a plan! :teeth:
We will be in a Cat 2 -- unless we can luck into a Cat 1! :teeth:

Just got back from the 10/22 Magic cruise and we booked the 10 night. Yes they are giving $500 onboard credit for booking. We are in joining cat 9 on deck 2. Me, DH, DD 19, DS 13, DD 11, and DD 9. We did the Eastern last year, ended up Eastern again this year, so looking forward to the new Southern itinerary next year. So glad its on the Wonder too.

We will be cruising with our 5 children -- 26ds, 23dd, 13dd, 8ds & 5dd.

The 3 youngest and dh & I will be in a Cat 1 - the Roy - and the older dc will be in a Cat 8. It is going to be so much FUN!!!!!!!!!  :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Hello, everyone!

I'm booked on this cruise too with my DS19 and DS13! I'm glad to see others with kids the same age!

WeLuvDisney All6ofUs--I noticed you've cruised since your DD out grew the Teens program (Stack/Aloft). How does she enjoy the cruises now? Is there much for those over 18, yet younger than 21 to do? This is the first cruise my oldest will sail since he turned 18. He usually has a blast with the teens, but now he's over the stated age. I'm worried he won't have fun. Ask you DD how she felt that first cruise at 18.

I found the first thread with all the planned activities. Cool...count us in too! Here is a website with some additional shore excursions. http://www.shoretrips.com/common/search2.asp?rcode=CAR
Has anyone had any experience with ShoreTrips? I understand lots of cruisers take these instead of the on-board offerings. Also, my DS is a SCUBA diver, if anyone is looking to do a dive excursion.

I can't wait to meet everyone!!!!

My wife and I are booked on the 10 night also- It seems there may be two threads on this cruise. We just did a 4 night Wonder March 5 with our 2 adult children and their spouses, but it's just the two of us on this one. Looking forward to it. We're also DVC members at BCV.

I just checked out the "double" thread for this cruise. There were no postings here between Dec of 2005 and March of 2006. The other thread is active. Please meet us over there. We are so ready for this cruise!
