I know on the back of our ticket it mentioned a comfort inn(?) which is nearby. I think the rate was reasonable. Give the station a call. I'm sure they could give you the info.

Try AAA for that information.

I live near Lorton in Northern Va. I do not recall any hotels other than
the Comfort Inn near the Auto Train station. I would stay in the Woodbridge
area if it were for a weekend departure and you could probably save some
money. On weekdays the traffic is terrible here, rush "hour" starts around
5am and ends around 10am, and in the Springfield area there is alot of
construction on I-95. So on weekdays the only sane choice is to stay in
Lorton at the Comfort. There is not much there except the hotel, a gas station,
and the hotel so don't expect any restaurants within walking distance.

Another Alternative.....
We stayed in the Holiday Inn - Eisenhower.. It was about 20 Mins north right off I-95... We went down a day early and toured DC and Alexandria. This hotel is RIGHT accross the street from a metro stop and about 5 mins drive to Alexandria. We toured DC the first day we got there and then the morning of the Auto Train, we toured Alexandria and then drove about 20 mins. south to Lorton and 'hopped' on the Auto Train. We got a great rate on the Holiday Inn from their web site.
Enjoy the trip!

The Comfort Inn is located at the same exit as the Autotrain exit. It is the closest to the station. I would suggest if you are leaving during the week to stay in Springfield. Better known as the mixing bowl. It's about 5 to 10 min. north of Lorton, but they do have more hotels to choice from. You will be going against the traffic when it comes to driving 95 to catch your train. I know there is a Holiday Inn Express in springfield. We used the Autotrain for our last trip to WDW, we loved it!

If the train only leaves Lorton at 4:00 p.m., that will leave a lot of time for this Canadian to check out the savings if there are any nearby. Since we are driving from the north, can anyone tell me where the closest factory outlets are?
Thanks

Keep in mind that the Autotrain leaves Lorton, VA at 4 p.m. (or a bit earlier if they are ready - our train did last month). Passengers are asked to arrive no later than 2 p.m.

Sandyrella the nearest outlet mall is about
5-10 miles south on I-95 at Potomac Mills.
They have alot of stores so take your
walking shoes. Sales tax is only 4.5%.
Take the Prince William Parkway exit,
go west , then turn left at the Mcdonalds
at the 3rd [?] traffic light, and go straight ahead,
you'll be at the rear parking area of the Mall.

Ah yes Potomac Mills, Virginia's number one tourests destination. Actually after exiting off I-95 onto Prince William Co. Parkway it's is the 4th traffic light that you turn left at. Happy Shopping, There's a Disney Catalog Outlet at Potomac Mills, great stuff pretty cheap too.....
