I just read that the latest Mickey Monitor says that you can now book through the "Best Rate" program through Feb 15. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks! :) :flower:

Yep, that's what it said. Unfortunately, they haven't updated the website yet. I sent an email to Disney about it but haven't heard back yet. I'll keep you posted on what they tell me, if anything.

Thanks so much, tjmouse. :flower:
If this proves to be correct, what do you think it means for the possible release of AP rates the old fashioned way? Just curious...

I have been thinking about that, as have a lot of others. If I had to guess, I would say that around mid-August, they will release an AP code through December 19th. I would say that since the Best Rate Program has been so popular (there are hardly any rooms left at most resorts through 12/19 if you play with the website), there will be a very limited number of rooms released with the announced code. I would also guess that the announced code rates will not be any cheaper than the best rate prices. However, if they are lower and the best rates that have already been booked are not changed to reflect the lower rates, Disney is going to get a lot of wicked emails. There is another thread below talking about that.
So, I guess we will all have to wait and see what happens! I hope I am wrong because I know there are a lot of AP holders who missed the 120 day window for the Best Rate Program and I would hate to see them not get a discount.

Hi,
I also read this in the Mickey Monitor over the weekend and I sent an email to Disney asking when they were going to have the site updated since the current verison of the Mickey Monitor was indicating that the rates were out. I have yet to get a response back from Disney. I will post when/if I get an answer.

The website still isn't updated today. I look forward to hearing from those of you who contacted Disney about that. How annoying!

Hi, what is the Mickey Monitor? Thanks!
The Mickey Monitor is a publication that Annual Passholders receive via mail and have access to via the Annual Passholder section of the Disney web site.

I haven't ever received anything from Disney about me being an AP holder...guess I'll check the site. Thanks!

The website has been updated BUT they aren't showing rates yet. Should be any time now.

Don't know if anyone here has the answer, but we want to book in mid-February (going through President's weekend). But Best Rate Program is only until Feb. 16th. Through normal way, if your stay starts in value season, the entire stay is value price for the room. But with the on-line booking, do we need to do two separate reservations (ie 2/10-2/16 under value season, and another ressie for 2/17-2/20 under peak season)? I don't think they can fix this and give me value price for the room during our entire stay from 2/10 to 2/20 if I called CRO. What is your opinion?

I'm in the same boat with crossing over seasons. In the past, if your stay started in value, the rate would extend through the entire stay. I've also done the flip side -- that is, had a couple of days of peak and then value at the end. I did two separate reservations for that 'cuz otherwise you have peak rates for the whole trip. I've had so much trouble with the Passholder's BR website that I don't know what will happen once they get it working. My guess is that you will not need two reservations and that you'll get the value rate for your whole stay (assuming you stay at the same resort and aren't moving).

I'm in the same boat with the 13-20th Feb dates. My question is if we can only book through the 16th how will we know when and IF any ap rates for the rest of the week will be available? Will we need 2 ressies and have to change rooms? What if we don't like the rates? I think everyones makes vacation decisions based on costs (where should we stay, when should we go, can we afford it at all this year?) and this is like buying a pig in a poke. :confused3 Plus I'll lose my deposit if only rack rates are offered for the rest of the week and I have to cancel. I suppose we can wait until all the dates are available but could we lose out on the first 3 days by then?

I got an email from Disney stating that the best rates should be updated "soon". Gee that helps.

Typically, the booking work for "reservations starting on xx/xx/2006," so you should be okay even if the end of your trip is past the date (as long as it's not more than 10 days which is a problem for everyone). But, with the way this is going, this is all speculation only.

sandi,
OOOh I see. That would make more sense. Thanks
Also... there was some talk somewhere that indicated that booking with a voucher would ACTIVATE it. Anyone know if this true? I hope not.

Whew! It took a while..but, I did it...I booked the (AP) best rate for arrriving February 14th and departing February 20th...Three rooms (had to do it THREE different times) for Pop Century....$59.00 each day..(standard)...My deposit per room was $65.80..(non-refundable)...Somebody earlier had said that if you were to book more than one room...(3 in my case)..you would have to put YOUR (the pass holder) name on each room...When I did that...each room has a person "missing" ...I guess that will have to be straightened out when I get there...Had I not done that....there would really be a mess..because out of ten of us...my sister and I are the only ones with Annual Passes...My adult children and grandchildren just have regular park tickets...I am paying for all three rooms....The total for each room for six nights plus tax for Pop Century came to $354.00....So..unless it comes down to $49.00 a room as it did last year...I think I did well. :Pinkbounc

Hi All,
I just checked out the site and the rates are in but they are way up over years past.
Last year we booked a savanna view at the AKL with an AP discount rate of $161 inc taxes. Right now the rate is $239.74 inc taxes for the same room. Water view is $178.40 a night inc taxes and a Courtyard View at the WL is going for $211.86 a night inc taxes.
Right now I am holding off booking until I see about the Swan/Dolphin having discounts.
Our dates are Jan 21st through the 27th.

I just booked January 27th - 30th at the Grand Floridian, lagoon view for $390 per night. Rack rate for same room is $468 per night. A total trip savings of $234.12! Adding that to the money I've saved from my August CBR trip, the AP has MORE than paid for itself. I'm sold!

I booked WL for 1/20-24 for $150 a night including tax. Total reservation $602. That is $312 saving from rack rate. With all the discounts being so questionable as of late I'm pleased with the savings!

We are happy campers as well. Had our pick of resorts and dates on the Best Rate Program today. After much debate, we are staying at a moderate this time. Feb. 11-16, 2006 at POFQ for $99 per night (before tax, with tax total is $110.40 per night). Figured this might be a good resort with Mardi Gras two weeks away. Plus, Feb. 16-20 at Universal.
Hope we won't be disappointed with our choice of POFQ after our December 2005 at GF and BC.
Good Luck everyone. :wizard:

When I couldn't get my dates (12-26 to 01-02) through the Best Rate program, I called CRO. They said the reason was because the blackout dates are 12-20-05 through and including 01-01-06.

I booked POR preferred view for 5 nights Feb 14-19 for $641.18. Booked the exact same dates , hotel and view last year for $524.00. So the rates are definately up. The only thing that bothered me though was that the form provided no place to request a preferred location which I was always able to do when I called CR's in the past. Does anyone know if there is anyway to do this now?? Thanks

We are planning on going Jan 3rd to 12th this year and were hoping to get a good AP rate and save the DVC points (we are in a constant state of borrowing, this would help.) However if we can't get a good deal I will just book the DVC room.
We got PORS last May for 88 a night (with tax.) I was hoping for that or better, or AKL for 129 or so (we got that one year AP rate for Aug.)
Anyone know if this reasonable? Still not sure about the best rate thing.

Yes, that was including tax, and you're welcome! :sunny: Happy to help!
DisneyPhD...discounts aren't looking as steep this year as they have in the past, so I'm not sure where they'll eventually end up by January. Right now a standard view room at AKL is going for $150/night including tax with the Best Rates program, I think. Standard view at WL is the same...last year at that time I paid $140/night for Woods View at WL, so a better view for less money.
