I know this sounds strange and my DH thinks I have lost it. (FYI) I have a Disney embroidery machine and I love to use it. I have put many Disney things on towels, shirts, pillowcases blah, blah, blah.
Now that we are going to DL in Sep I am making Shirts for my two DD’s (gifts the Princesses will leave every night) and I just bought some plain underwear to embroider on for my older (3 yrs old) DD. My DH thinks the “big girl panty” embroider thing is a little over the top. I say it finishes the outfit given to her everyday from the Princesses. What do you think? Have I lost it? Or should I go buy some plain socks and embroider those also?

No! You sound really crafty. I would love to make that for my 4 dd. My hubby always thinks I am loosing it for disney! :jumping1:

I say you need the socks too - too bad matching gloves and a hat would probably be too much.

I'm for the socks too! Maybe he's just jealous, you might want to surprise him with a nice pair too!! Sounds like you are having lots of fun, and when it comes to Disney that's all that matters.

My dd couldn't get all the way potty trained until we bought her 7 days worth of princess panties. If she had an accident one day, the next day she had to wear boring white panties the next day. It took one week and we haven't had an accident since!

kc10family, I have that machine too! I have never thought of doing the underwear thing, can you use the regular hoop or do you need the little one? I bought a disk off ebay with tons of designs, some good, some not so good. I also have 1 memory card of disney characters. DO you use one of small designs or just the regular ones? My girls (8 &10 ) would probably love them!

Way to funny. I saw the machine at Walmart for $457 today. I almost bought it. :cool1:
I said I needed to clean a spot for it and I will go back and get it. Maybe this is telling me I should go get it. :goodvibes

Rcraw – I have the ULT2003D (LOVE IT!!) and today I used both the little tiny hoop and the next size (4x4 ?) I have 4 different hoops. It worked great with the princess card, I made a castle, crown and then I went bigger and made Belle with the dress. I might make Jasmine standing also. So far things seem to work fine. Good luck and let me know how it goes for you.
Anyone and everyone else, thank you for your replies! I have made 3 “big girl panties” so far and plan to try the socks this weekend. And YES!!! I love the idea of making the big boy (a.k.a DH) a set of his very own big boy undies. Did I say I LOVE the idea!!! You are all so great with the ideas. If any of you even think you would like to machine embroidery a little, try it, you’ll love it. The only problems you will have is spending too much time on the machine and trying to hid things from people in your house while you make things.
Did I tell you all I think I am a Disney freak and I didn’t know it until just these last few months. Thank you all for helping me with my new addiction.
Have a Great Disney Day!

Are you making the socks and big girl underwear matching? I am smiling as I read this I love the idea, but my 3 sons just wouldn't appreciate it. Though I am looking for Disney fabric for matching boxer shorts :rolleyes1
I guess I am just as bad.
What will you put on the big boys pants (DH) I like the Beast. :rotfl2:

kc10family, I have the Walmart machine that the previous poster mentioned. For anyone out there contemplating it, go for it. Even if you don't know how to sew (as in me!) it is sooooooooo easy, even my kids can operate it. kc, I am about to order that small hoop, it says on the Brother site that it adjusts to three sizes, how does that work? I have done shirts, sweats, handbags and have made the sling bags out of DIsney fabric and embroidered on them. I am thinking about the princess card, I may go ahead and order it from ebay. I think it'd make adorable towels! Have you seen the Incredibles card? Unfortunately no one around here carries a selection, I have to rely on ebay. Happy sewing!

I think that the idea is wonderful. My daughter loves DISNEY things! Plus they are so much more economical to make. I am actually kind of jealous, I can't sew. Maybe you can buy some GI JOE to embroidere for dh. :maleficen princess:

In fact, I think you should make DH the undies, socks and a matching tshirt to match his DD. And then make the girls whine and insist that Daddy wear his stuff too. Everyone knows that Daddy's can't say no to their princesses!!!!!! Please post a pic of this when i happens!! :love2:

I made the Big Boy Undies!!! The socks didn't work out, they are to small to put in a hoop. I would love to post a picture, but I don't know how. Can anyone help me in posting the picture?

Count me in as another embroidery nut - I have the Brother/White embroidery machine and I just LOVE it! I remember trying it out for the first time and my daughter walking in & saying "mommy, it's sewing by itself" -- all I could reply is "yeah, isn't it great!" :) (I do quite a bit of "regular" sewing too )
Happy to trade some designs (although you probably have everything I have -I bought a disney princess disk off ebay too!)
Let me know!
Kate
For an DISers out there that also sew ... I'm in search of a Cinderella costume pattern from a few years ago (I believe it was Simplicity). The pattern that Simplicity has right now just doesn't look right to me - its in the quick sew section and I like the look of the more difficult sew patterns they have (currently Snow White, Belle, Ariel, Aurora). I've already made the "difficult" version Snow White costume, but really wanted a Cindy too. (We have 2 MNSSHP's coming up!)

I don't have the sewing machine but I did just buy one of the great big LL Bean canvas bags to bring with me to the park (hanging off the back of the stroller- not me!) and I bought a mickey iron-on at stuck it on there.
Also, we are all equipped with plenty of Disney clothes (a lot of which were from Disney direct summer clearance sale) so we can wear Disney for all 8 days we're there :earsboy:

Ok, after reading this thread, I am obsessed!
Can you please give me the specific name of the machine? All 3 of my kids ADORE anything and everything with Disney characters, so this would be the biggest thing since...well I don't even know...for my family.
I am a FAIR sewer. I quilt, so that is my sewing skill set. I have never done anything like this or even made basic clothes...just quilting and mending. Do you really think I can use this machine?

I have the Brother sewing/embroidery machine SE270D. It's available at Walmart for ~ $ 435. It practically runs itself. YOu load the thread via a cassette, it threads the needle for you. Once you atach the hoop to the machine and hit start all you have to do is change thread colors.

I have a Disney embroidery machine too! Brother SE270D that was my birthday/christmas gift last year. I LOVE IT! I have already started getting stuff done for our trip. I bought a CD of princess designs that are great! I did a Belle shirt for my DD yesterday- she is only 22 months old and could not wait to put it on!!

I wanted to add I got mine at Walmart on CLEARANCE for $400... you can also bid on ebay..
also the PED Basic card writer is a great addition. Then you can buy design CD's or designs online and write them to a card... buying cards is REALLY expensive (on ebay about $65 each for anywhere from 5-15 designs)... You can get PED on ebay for around $115... there are lots of free designs online too.
Happy embroidering!!

I bought the Amazing box II for around $200 and love it. I also have the Taste of Disney card and a monogramming program called Monogram Wizard Plus. Unfortunately the closest Brother dealer is about 30 miles away and is super high. He charges over $100 for all his cards. I wish I could find a place with a big selection so I could just browse............

Look on ebay... they average around $70 for the cards. If you have the amazing box it would be cheaper for you to buy designs on CD (on ebay they are around $5-$8 for 10-200 designs) then write to card and put in your machine!
