We were down at Lake LBJ near Austin this weekend (a very soggy weekend I might add...) and Andrew went to see POC3 with the older boys. He liked it, but we wouldn't let him tell us much as we are going to try to see it as a family this next week/weekend. If it keeps being this soggy, all the games will continue to be postponed so we'll see it soon.

Hi Flo! How are you? Is Steven enjoying his internship?

We're getting ready to go to WDW/Wonder in the middle of next week, and fighting off mosquitoes from all of the flooding we've had. Record rain for the last couple of months, which is good as we've been in drought. Those mosquitoes have been as bad as the love bugs at Disney -- but they bite and leave huge whelps.... Yuck!

Hi Marci! Thanks for asking! Yes Steven is enjoying his internship. They take him to the sites and he even went to one of the meeting that they put a bid on. He got to go to the New TRUMP Towers that they are building down town by us.
Have a great time at WDW and the Cruise. Are you even thinking about doing one out of CA in 2008? I can not believ ethat we are. Tell Mickey we all said hi.

Dave and I went to see POC3 yesterday - I am still trying to be healthy so instead of eating popcorn - I sat with a big bag of pea pods - Dave thought it was very funny.

We are busy discussin our summer plans for next year 08 sadly Flo we cant join you in CA ( although its on one of our must visit places)

We are thinking of flying to Newyork for 8 days then flying to WDW for another 8.

Dave and I are trying to work through the ' places we really want to visit list'- We are also planning a long week end in PAris in October :goodvibes

What a summer!
Dan and I went to Italy and had a fabulous time! We saw the Disney cruisers in Florence. I looked for Helen but it was the wrong week. I'm really regretting not buying any leather. Oh well, next time. I think our next orchestra tour is going to be France or Spain. Nicholas will be able to play the cello with us next time.

Before we went in late June, my mom had her tummy tuck. They took off 20 pounds of fat! Unfortunately she got a major infection and had to be rushed into surgery. After the surgery she had 4 holes in her stomach. They have to leave it open and let it heal from the inside out. She was in the hospital for two weeks! When she finally got home to my house she was being seen by a nurse three times a week. She was packed with this foam stuff and then was attached to a vacuum. She had to carry the vacuum around with her. It was lovely. She finally is almost back to normal. She now weighs 25 pounds less than me and looks great. She can't wait to have the next surgery for her arms and breasts. Can't wait :eek:

The kids go to school next week. I'm back in my masters program and getting my class ready. I have been having lower back problems and knee problems. I have a "spondy" (cracked vertebrae) and degenerative discs just like Helen! They think I have a torn miniscus in my knee. I have had to get MRI's for both. I'm also in physical therapy 2x a week.

Valerie, it is so good hearing from you. I am pleased your mom is recovering and I am so sorry you are having trouble with your back. ouch I feel for you. Is physical therapy the same as physiotherapy -I wonder - if so it is really good, it may hurt but its worth it. Also have you tried acupuncture? I find that especially good.

I was thinking of you and Dan when we were away- I knew you were touring with your orchestra. Glad it went well.

Tif - you are too kind - you are making me :flower3: we had so much fun - I'll write about it in my TR.

It was great seeing you again -

and you all know if you venture over the pond you will have personal tour guides..

I've always wanted to go to Italy -- glad you had a great time! How long was the trip?

My sister had her baby three weeks ago today. His name is William, or Will for short. He is darling and is such a good baby! My boys started school today -- they wanted to see their friends but aren't looking forward to homework. I hated homework, and I wasn't dyslexic like they are, so I guess I should be patient with them. (at least for a few weeks...;) )

I have to share my news. Steven's spring trip this year for baseball in Febraury 2008 is going to be Central Florida. They are going to be playing in the North part Orlando. This is only 45 minutes from WDW:dance3: I am on:cloud9: . Even if we jsut get to go to Down Town Disney it is something. SInce we have the cruise in June.

Valarie- We are going to be out on the Saturday before.

So who all is going on the West coast cruises this year? We would like to, but we've decided to go to Jen's home state -- Hawaii. We're set for July 31st - August 9th.

Its been a while since I posted and was happy to see that everyone is still keeping in touch.

We've been busy with work since we opened a new shop on Maui in May.

Boys are still doing baseball and piano. And Jaclyn started a new preschool which she loves and is also taking ballet.

We are booked for the West Coast cruise on July 27- August 3. This time, DH's parents, his sister's family, and cousin's family will be joining us.

Marci, if it works in your schedule we can meet up after we get back.

Did everyone hear the "news" about a Disney resort in Hawaii. I posted about it on the DVC Mousecellaneous board and here is a link to a newspaper article http://starbulletin.com/2007/09/29/news/story04.html

Yes, this is Steven's last year. It is so hard. On Friday we got the information to order is invites. I also am going to miss baseball. But they all have to grow up I guess. So everyone enjoy them while they are young!

No he does not have time to do an internship while he is at school. The place he worked at duing the summer asked him to come back when he is home on break from school.

He is going to go into the electric part of engineering.

DARN -- I have the worst luck! :rolleyes:

We have a reservation on that same cruise, but I'm only keeping it if our Hawaii plans fall through. I was successfully able to get our award seats on American Airlines so it looks like we'll be Hawaii-bound, while you are on the mainland.

It sounds like you'll have a great bunch with you -- isn't Ohana wonderful! (most of the time....) I hope you have a great time!

That is great that he's been asked to return to the same employer. I think I've already told you this, but Randy was an engineering major for a couple of years. Those classes he took actually come in quite handy around the house sometimes... :)

Jen it was great hearing from you - Dave and I would love to go to Hawaii! Not sure when probably 2015 known us !!!

Here in the UK I dont do anything special for halloween- but boy are the children excited at school.

Halloween always signals the start of a difficult couple of weeks for me as on November 5th, here in the uk we celebrate Guy Fawkes night. (Bonfire night). It dates back from the 17th Century when some Catholics tried to blow up the houses of Parliment (see http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/customs/Guy.html)

Well its on this date that people celebrate by setting off fireworks. However my dogs do not cope very well. Infact the last 2 years we have nearly lost Sally our old dog due to the stress that she has. Last year she had a small stroke. So from tomorrow night, the dogs are fed early, all curtains are drawn and classical music is played in the kitchen.

Not sure whether I've told you, but starting this week I am job sharing a class whilst my friend goes on maternity leave. I am really looking forward to this as I've missed having my own class. I will be working in Year1 (5-6yr olds)

I've also had some news today regarding my mam. March 06 my mam had a fall and had a collies fracture in her wrist. After manipulation and 6 weeks the fracture healed, however my mam developed something called sudex atrophy (sp?) Basically she lost her mobilty in her hand. The doctors have tried anumber of different treatments to try and get her some use back but nothing has worked and her condition is still very painful. We have been waiting for some time for the 'last stance' treatment. They want to take her back into hospital and anthaetise (sp?) her, whilst she is under they want to force her fingers to move. Now she wouldn't let them do a general anaestic and has requested for them to do a local so that she is awake during the procedure.

Well we have found out today that she is going to be admitted on Nov 7th. I am so worried for her. It has taken her a long time to accept her condition and whilst I am pleased they are trying this to get her some mobilty back, I am fearful that it will cause more pain and set her back mentally. My mam was a very independant women who has found it very hard to cope with just one arm.

I'm so sorry for rambling on, but just talking /typing about this is helpful. Please keep my mam in your thoughts next week.

Are doges have always gone crazy with fireworks to. We usualy give them tranqulizers. This is the only way them keep calm.

I loved your card and Jen's to. The picture is the first good one we have all taked together.

We are all fine. We got a letter in the mail today that Steven made honors list. I am so proud of him. He said that for some reason this year is clicking. I hope he keeps it up. He also got an office from the place that he did his internship with this summer (and over Thanksgiving) and he took it. He likes the people.:)

Tell Randy next year, we can all put are ages.;)

No we are not booked on the cruise:sad2: Since we are going Juner of 2008 I don't think we will cruise until 2010 or 2011. Hopefull it will be on the new ship.:yay: But I do want to go to WDW for the holidays in 2009.

Hi all!!! Good to look through and see how all are doing! Life here is good. Iain and I are heading south tomorrow morning...just a little Disney fix! We all head down for Easter break...about 2 weeks!! HOORAY!
Well, basketball has ended for us...Alec was on an in house league and then a travel team. Iain played 7th grade varstity and was truly amazing to watch. They won their second Diocesan title...and they really did have to earn it playing some pretty tough teams through the Diocese! Tom's 6th grade team was coached to a 3rd place victory in the Diocese...they were a bit down. Abby played JV...but we also had to attend all varsity games. They underestimated her again...she worked really hard and showed them that she was the kid they really needed on the court. She started the season on the bench and ended it by being the gal that was never taken out of the game...and then was actually moved up to Varsity! She played in our Regional game and did very well. Unfortunately we didn't win. This was the first year Abby was on a team that had a losing season...but she did okay. Her first track meet was last night and she did well.

Well my friends...when is everyone else heading down to the World?? I get to see Flo down there at least for a bit.

I love Congress Park!!! That is my favorite spot at SSR!!! We have done 4th of July there for the last few years...and it is PERFECT! Head out to the pool area at midnight and you can watch Pleasure Island's fireworks!!!

Well I'm back from Tunisia!:beach:

I had a lovely holiday with my mam. The weather was a lot better than in the uk:thumbsup2
The hotel we stayed in was lovely and it had the most amazing ceilings and decorations. My mam and I made friends with a large group of people and we had a laugh every night.

The one thing that was uncomfortable was the amount of men trying to get you into their shop or cafe. They would all stand outside and shout at you whilst you were walking in the street. Also you would have them trying to put scarfs or beads on you and demand money. I was ok with it -my mam said I had my cross teacher stare on - but my mam found it very stressful . Saying that though it did not spoil the holiday.

So glad to hear everyone's well. Great pictures!
I wish we were going somewhere. No Disney, no cruise, no Europe this year either. We will be taking our orchestra to Spain in 2009. That will be fun.
I have tickets to WDW but I can't get any good air fares. We don't have the benefit of frequent flier miles either. Bummer!

Anyway, I have been furiously working on my master's thesis. I will be done and walking through graduation in May! I have started Jenny Craig and so far have lost 15 pound! I have a long way to go. It's slow, but working.

My mom is finally healthy. She had her last surgery, arms and breasts. She lived with us for about 3 months because I had to wrap her arms everyday.
It was nice though. She was able to cook for us and it made things easier.

Nicholas and Nolan are doing well. They are on different baseball teams this year so our schedule is CRAZY!

Thanks for all the cards at the holidays. It was great to hear from you all.

Valerie -- good for you for Jenny Craig! I think that is a great program for a working Mom. I did it years ago and was very happy with it.

I'm glad your Mom is well -- that is terrific news. Congrats on the May graduation! I'll be in DL in a couple of months for a convention. It's my first time as an adult, and I'm very excited. I don't really remember the time we did DL when I was 10 or so.

We are actually scheduled for our next Disney cruise in July for the Mexican Riviera but looks like we are gonna reschedule since Justin ( the younger son ) really wants to play football this year and conditioning starts the week of our cruise! Needless to say I'm really bummed about that but oh well...the things we do for our kids.

So looking at taking a Disney cruise next summer....anyone else going?

If anyone is coming to Hawaii soon be sure to let us know!

I wanted to tell you. We were there from Saturday to Saturday in February. We stayed at SSR (DVC) and did not go to 1 park. It was so relaxing. We were down there from my sons baseball but tht did not begin until Wednesday. You could always just walk around Down Town Disney like we did.;)

This is turning out to be a great week for us....after talking to Justin's future football coach we were given the okay to miss first week of practice for our Magic West Coast Cruise this July :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I was seriously thinking about the August 2009 cruise with Helen and Marci but now that we are cruising this year I think next year will be a WDW trip.

Valerie -- I checked my dates for the conference in Anaheim, and I fly in on April 20th around 10 a.m. I could do lunch or dinner that day or Monday the 21st. Hello Everyone!

Since you have all be with me through baseball just want to let you guys know. We had a last home game last Sunday (sob Sob)! It was also Senior day. It was sad but I think I am ready for the next stage. We had a great time. Everything turned out great. My boys (the six Senior) loved their gifts. I also got a give certificate from my boys to the Olive Garden. I had tears in my eyes when they gave it to me and hugs me. The parents also got me some great gifts.

In two weeks on the 24th he graduates. Don’t know how good I am going to be at that. I sure do not know were the 4 years have gone. I know he is ready. It has been a busy year for him.

On a good note the following week we leave for are cruise. I am so excited. I will miss all of you guys wish you were coming to. I have meat some nice people on the boards to.

Flo...so sorry to hear that your baseball days are over...can't imagine that. With graduation on the horizon...does he have any job offers? A cruise sounds sooooo good right now! We had friends sail at Easter, they said it was a perfect week! Sigh....

Life here is still nutty...Abby missed going to the State Finals in the 300M hurdles by .15 seconds! Huge! Iain did go to State for grade school in the 4x100M relay. It was kind of like a miracle.

Abby is now 16...YIKES! Not getting her license for a month or two so we are still calm. She will go to a Career Camp at Sea World for her birthday...she does it at the end of June. The boys will be going to
Duke Basketball camp! They are excited.

Florida for the boys and I is 11 days away...I am ready.

He will be working for a company Called Huen. Right now he is woring on a new hospital. When he was home for the summer he even worked on Trump towers in Down Town Chicago. Good afternoon all!!!

Everyone has such activity going on...fantastic! We did have a couple of really nice honors sent Abby's way this year...she was asked to represent Illinois girl's golf at the Gold Medal Games in Australia as well as to be a part of the Congressional Leadership Conference out in Washington, D.C. We were able to defer her Australia opportunity to next year...and Iain will be able to join her!
Helen...she has bee able to take Driver's Ed through the school, which has been great. The downside is that she has to be at school at 5:45AM on Friday mornings! UGH!!! Good luck on breeding Floss!!!! That should be rather exciting!

I will try to talk Tom into August 1st. of 2009...it is questionable as to golf season for Abby and Iain. He and I are sailing at the end of September this year...the 27th. The kids are itching to sail. They were so affronted that we were't going this summer! Funny how they take things for granted when they are able to it so often.

Marci...Florida this summer has the boys and I down May 21st. The boys will head home on June 1st after Tom brings Abby and her friend Tine down. The guys head back down and home for Father's Day. Abby and I will return to Illinois sometime after that...depends on her job with the Golf Center-she teaches camps. Then the kids and I are down July 2nd till mid-August with Tom in and out on the weekends.

Jen...sounds like good things happening in your baseball household! Enjoy the westcoast cruise!!! WOOHOO! I hear it is supposed to be wonderful!

The boys and I have made it down! Weather definitely interesting!!! :confused3 Libby is down and still struggling. I hurt for our puppy...okay four year old puppy!!! Her allergies cause her to shake her head really hard...they really affect her ears. Well, she has created another hematoma in her right ear. She had surgery just before Easter to relieve the bleeding. Unfortunately this one is getting worse. We are really trying to keep her drugged up...doc's orders, but drugged up enough that she never has to get bothered by the weather. I am hoping too that the weather will ease a bit, and she won't be going nuts. Of course it makes nights a bit rough...she gets up or is whapping her head during the night. That means I get up. It has been worse than a new born...truly!
Au weai...if you could, keep Miss Libby Grace in your prayers. :dog:

Thanks! He is at that stages in his life were he is ready to move on! I was proud of my self I only had tears in my eyes when they were marching in to pomp and circumstances. I am a sucker for that one. His company is going to pay for him to get masters. This is good. They want him to have one. So soon he will be going back. One thing I will tell you is the older they get the faster time flies. I do not know were the 4 years have gone.

Hi to my DIS friends. I haven't been on the boards in a long time, and I had a lot of reading to do to catch up on our thread. We are cruising June 1st too, Flo, but we are going on the Wonder out of Port Canaveral. We are driving part-way this Friday, so we can see the shuttle Discovery launch Saturday afternoon.

This time, we've talked our cousins, with kids 13 & 12, into going along, so I'm sure we'll have a great time. We have reservations at Atlantis for our Nassau day - and we're gonna hit all the water rides and aquarium! :dance3: I'm a little sad that I haven't been on the boards to get to know the DISers for this cruise.

Yes, that's Addison with ANOTHER broken arm. She was riding her scooter and fell. That's the 3rd broken arm (same one) in 3 years! She got the "all clear" about 2 weeks ago.

The girls finished school this past week, and Ansley had her 8th grade formal. She's headed to high school "rookie" band camp for 3 days next week.

Carla!!! We were at the aquarium on our spring break!! We went April 4-6. We traveled with Dan's junior high jazz band. They were selected to play in the Next Generation Monterey Jazz Festival. They were one of only 4 jr. high jazz bands in the whole country!
I will be soooo bummed if you were there the same time.

Flo - When you get to LA there are some great places to have dinner. But if you go straight to San Pedro (where the dock is) I don't think there is much. I do have a couple of friends that live in SP so I can check with them.

Valerie - I cannot believe that!!! HUGE lesson learned. We were only there 5 nights, and no room in our itinerary to head any farther south - we were travelling with my Mom, Dad and Brother. I started to call your cell at least twice while we were in town. We were in Monterey April 5-7 - then headed back to San Francisco for the last 2 days.

We could have met for lunch or even at the aquarium (our tickets were flexible)!! Darn:( I am so sad! We probably crossed paths sometime that 3 days!!! I'm kicking myself!!

That said - we did love Monterey and plan to visit again sometime - (San Francisco wasn't my favorite).

We're back from the Wonder - and it was a lot of fun!! We had 2 glorious days at Castaway Cay!!! I even made it to Serenity Bay for my first time ever thanks to Helen's suggestion, and the lunch was fabulous. I didn't know they served different food at the Adult Beach - until Helen told us about lobster. We didn't had lobster, but the grilled shrimp and salmon skewers were so delicious!! (plus they had chocolate and macadamia nut cookies that I never saw anywhere else on the ship!)

Toy Story, the newest show, is now on the Wonder. We saw the show, and the costumes and the props are very impressive. The story line, however, is simply a repeat of the movie - really not my favorite show, I probably would not go see it again.

We went to Atlantis for our day in Nassau, and had a great time. The water slides were fun and we loved the lazy river.

We arrived in town early on Saturday so we could catch the shuttle launch. We went to the beach to watch, and it was very neat!!

Flo, I am so jealous, we've already been home for 2 days and you are still cruising!!

I'm So jealous -SB is my most favourite place on earth -I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
I have a picture of SB as my screen saver.
They have loster when you are on the magic as they use up the ones left from the Captains Gala night! but the Skewers sound yummy!

Bet the shuttle was fun to watch - although this it was realy a glorified plummer - with the most expensive toilet part ever:rotfl:

Hope all is well! Well we got back last Sunday from are West Cost Cruise! I could tell you this. IT sure is not like the FL terminal. Missed all of you. We meat allot of nice new DIS people. On are see days it was cold. On Saturday they were putting blankets on the lounge chairs so that people could stay warm of they wanted to sit out side. It was in the 50's. Then Saturday during the day the waves were up to 14 feet! We did not get sick but most of the DIS people I meet were sick. Not sure if I would do another West Coast cruise. They would have to change the ports. Cabo, and Purta Varda were nice. Mazlan I was not crazy for. I think we were only off the ship there for about 20 minutes to a half hour.

Helen and marci, not sure if we are going to do at 2009 seven day. We were thinking of doing a 4 day and WDW. Now that Steven is out of school I have 2 weeks vacation to play with.

So nice to see messages. Marci and Helen...we are cruising summer...at same time as "our" cruise. We are on the Magic July 25th....and sooooo excited! The kids didn't sail since the Med. We are doing the week of our Easter break...pre-Easter. The kids are almost giddy for that one. There is another family that we are friends with, that might be sailing as well. They have boys our boys ages and they get along beautifully. We are hopeful they will come!

A quick update....Abby did get to the State Finals this year for golf. She did not fare well...but learned a lot. She is hopeful to go again next year, and do better! All three are back in basketball...and playing exceptionally well. It is Tom's last year to coach.

So...what is new with everyone else? Baseball? Music? Dogs? Disney?????

Great Christmas card...Helen, loved yours too! Thanks. I am the WORST at cards...the ironic part is that I design cards privately!

Marci, if we didn't have basketball commitments, we would definitely be down at Disney! We really tried to find a way to get a four day Wonder cruise, and couldn't find four days with no basketball practices. Unfortunately, the kids do get penalized for not making it to practice...by not playing.

So we do Christmas in the midwest! WOOHOO! I do love it...Christmas anywhere is a good thing! The weather for the next couple days is looking a bit scary with an ice storm on the way. We are hoping it won't be too bad...tomorrow is the last day of finals for the high schools!

Anyway....have a GREAT and MAGICAL time!

Hi to everyone - we are having a busy summer.

Visited the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas for spring break, so no Disney cruise this year. BUT, we are taking a 5 night Double Dip to Castaway next year, May 30th!

Helen, I saw a nice Palo photo of you and Dave posted by AndrewDerekUK on the boards. Have fun on your Eastern - that's the one I really want to go on - would love to see the virgin islands!! But, DCL just never seems to book the summer 7 nights on the years we travel. (which now is every-other summer, 2006, 2008, 2010.)

Flo, your puppy is cute, and dogs are so great to have around! We have a mutt and the girls love her so much!

Marci - You are so right about seeing how the kids have growen. It is amazing.

In December of 2010 we hope to be at WDW in the middle of the month. We are going for Steven's 25th. He has helped so much while i was out of work. Some of his friends may come to. I finaly went back to work the week before Thanksgiving. I am so happy.

Any one going to WDW in December 2010.

As far as crusing in June 2012 Not sure. I figure if we do the Dream in 2011 don't hink we can do a cruise in 2012. The one we want in June 2011 has two stops at castaway to.

I need some advice for a friend. We are taking a cruise this summer with Randy's college buddies and their wives. We've taken a cruise with them before (actually, we introduced them to cruising and now they cruise regularly) and see each other a couple of times a year, even though we are spread out over Texas.

Anyway, we are doing eastern on Celebrity, stopping at St. Martin, St. Thomas and San Juan. Has anyone done scuba in St. Martin or St. Thomas with a local company instead of the ship? They may decide to go with the cruise line excursion, but I thought I would see if anyone has experience with outside vendors.

I hope you are all well and think of you all often. I said it before, but we love getting the Christmas cards. For those of you that sent them, thanks for keeping us on your list!

We are doing well. The saying about hitting 40 and health going downhill seems to have fit in my case, even though I always thought, no not me -- I'm healthy! I've had shoulder surgery last year, sinus surgery this year, and now have psoratic arthritis. It's not cancer, and the doctor assures me that after a few months I should be feeling better, boys are doing well in school and athletics, and Randy loves his job.

What is up with everyone else? Anyone happen to be going on the Dream June 12th of next year? :)

We are going on the Dream next year. But don't know when. We are looking at August I think.

I have to wait because we are waitlisted for Decembber at AKV for asavana view and concierge. Steven really wants the concierge. And after all it is his party. He has helped so much when I was not working so he deserves it.
