This may be a hopeless cause, but I really don't want to blow my Weight Watchers progress while at WDW and on the Wonder. I've lost 11 pounds so far :) , and have a LOT to go. 68 days and counting til our WDW vacation. The vacation itself is keeping me motivated right now. Any tips for staying on track once we get there?

For the WDW portion of our trip, I've printed menus from allearsnet so I can steer us to places where we have lighter options.

I would guess DCL offers "lite" options on the dinner menus, and I can say "no" to dessert (after-dinner coffee is fine for me). Does Disney offer any other aids to staying on track?

I would love to hear from other WW members who have resisted (or not!) and come back from their trip not having gained. If you did fall off the wagon, were you able to get back on when you returned? I think that worries me most - backsliding and then saying, 'oh well, why bother now?'

Thanks for any advice!

I made several trips to Disney while losing weight on WW. In fact, my trips to Disney were a motivational tool that I used. I would think "I want to have lost 75 pounds by my next trip", etc. Then while I was at Disney I would do what I do at home: eat lots of fruits and veggies, no fried foods, drink lots of water. I would treat myself on occassion as well. The only trip that I gained on was when I went to the Food and Wine Festival last year. I pretty much ate what I wanted and I think that I gained a couple of pounds. When I would come back from a trip, I would set my next goal for my next trip. I may have had a different "journey" in my weight loss than most people however. I had so much to lose that I realized very early that I would have weeks when I would gain. So when I did gain, I didn't give up. I think having that mind set helped me stay with the program even after a gain.

Keep in mind on DCL that if you wanted, you could get say, two appetizers or two salads instead of an entree, if that would help. One of my friends ordered two appetizers (of course, he kept everything else that came with the meal too!), and they didn't seem to mind at all.

Don't make food a big focus on your trip. Have breakfast, lunch, dinner and a few snacks. Plan your workouts at the fitness center and just have fun.

I find I have extra time to fit in exercise on vacation, so I don't gain weight. Just think about it. No house stuff, work stuff etc. Plus, all the walking in the world. I know it is scary to think about undoing your progress but by the time 68 more days comes around you will know what are good choices to make and what it is worth it to spend extra calories/points on.
I've never been on a Disney cruise, but I was on a Celebrity one and they had a "fit spa" menu which was great. I ordered from there and the food was wonderful and healthy. (I was really scared too about gaining lots of weight with the good food, but they have a lot of choices. You can choose good healthy food.)
The best advice is to enjoy yourself though. You are paying a lot to go to WDW and the cruise, so don't agonize over food. Just use moderation, take advantage of exercise opportunities (I always love trying out the new equipment when we stay different places) and HAVE FUN.

I was doing WW very religiously on our March trip to WDW and had a fabulous time with no negative impact on my weight. At every meal, I ordered a salad with a lighter type dressing on the side and drank a full glass of water before the entree arrived. For entrees, I tried to order non-fried foods (splurged only at O'Hana's on the appetizer stuff) and lots of veggies.
I carried a little pocket notebook with me where I had written down some menu choices at our favorite restaurants based on the menus available at allears.net. I also kept track of my points in that same notebook. That was a HUGE help for me to keep on program.

The Liberty Tree Tavern had a fabulous field greens salad w/strawberry vinegarette dressing, and a sauteed crab cake. Most places had fabulous grilled chicken or a caesar salad without croutons. I also LOVED taking the "lid" off of sandwiches and eating them with a knife and fork with only the bottom half of the bun. The frozen strawberry bars are a great treat in the park, and we even found one that was sugar free! I also enjoyed carrying treats in my backpack instead of being tempted by food in the parks (I LOVE the Nature Valley fruit & nut bar -- 3 extremely filling points).
We were also on DCL last summer (as well as two times previously) -- you will have no problem at all finding healthy options there. At every meal there were healthy options on the menu, and you can always order your food prepared any way you like.

Good luck and have a fabulous time planning! I actually found that aspect of the planning a lot of fun. Kind of like planning menus for home without having to do the shopping or cooking or cleaning!

Thanks for the tips and advice. I am more excited than ever to stay with my weight loss plan. I will definitely keep my restaurant options close at hand in WDW.
