I've looked and looked and can't find a thread...is there one out there? We are heading on the 4 night Wonder with my DH and 3 DS and sister and sister's friend. We are a little nervous as we have mostly only done 7 night cruises and are afraid 4 nights will be too short. Anyone else out there??? Lisa

I've been counting the days since I booked a month ago! :cool1: This is our first cruise so I've been scouring websites for info. This has been one of the most informative sites I've been on. :earsboy:

Is there a thread for MAY 21ST 4 night wonder

DD5 and I are on this cruise! I'm so excited to find more Dis'ers on it. I started a thread a while back, but there were on other takers, so it's probably so far back on the list of threads that its off the radar. This is our second cruise. We did a 3 day on the Wonder last year. We'll be celebrating DD's 6th birthday. We're going to WDW on the 17th for a few days before the cruise. I can't wait! 4 more months and counting...

:woohoo: We are counting the days "till we set sail. My DH and I took a four day cruise on one of the first sailings during the summer of 1998. I can see that Disney has come a long way in eight years. We can't wait to see all of the wonderful changes. This time we are bringing our 8 year old DS. Looking forward to meeting fellow members on board.

03-12-2006, 07:43 AM
I would like to make a sign, but haven't taken time to find out how. Where to buy supplies etc. :confused3 I don't expect to talk older two sons into costumes. They are to cool :cool1: Last year at WDW I wore my ears the entire trip because they said it was silly. :earsgirl:

I would make a door sign too any ideas? I did make some pins, I think I have 6 or 8 extras! If anyone is interested let me know they have green mickey heads and a red, white, and blue ribbon, I had leftover from when 9/11 happened I made pins and took donations then sent it to the 9/11 fund it wasn't much but at least I felt that I contributed to the fund, I felt so bad. :sad2:

damiel

There is a great thread on door signs with a lot of great ideas and photos. I think most people design something and print it on magnetic paper. I want to do a sign but I will need DH help - I am not very computer capable.

My first cruise also, but my passporter's field quide says coat and tie. :sad1:
I bet you could get away without the tie though. Just go ahead and do it, tell your wife you really don't mind because you'll get special time with her!  The brunch is more casual if you prefer that.
By the way you might want to try to find the book. Mine was from BAM. I've seen it online though.

lilbertrph, ckphilia must be on Spring Break! Or busy trying on her costume. Go back to DCL forum and over to the right it has a place to do a search. You should find your pirate costumes. Also, I think the pirate party is on the 3rd night. It should be the same dining room you were at the previous night. 52 Days!

We are also on this cruise. Our first. My family is beyond excited. We booked the first day this cruise was released!! We are celebrating My sons 5th b-day on the 24th. We have a lot of b-day's between May 13 and ending on the 24th.

Travelling are myself, dh, dd (will have just turned 8) and ds (turning 5). My grandmother, mom, aunt, dad and step-mom.

I have searched for threads on our cruise before and never found one.

I have read a few of you mentioning the Palo brunch. Can you share more details and what day you think is the best to reserve?

One other question...My ds turns 5 the day after castaway cay. He really wants to do the stingray excursion there. I am hoping they will let him once we get on board. I tried to sign him up online and I couldnt. What do yall think the chances are?

Have you all received your stateroom assignments yet? I got mine when I booked. On my first cruise, I booked a GTY and can't remember when I got my stateroom assigned. I booked a category 9 this time (which is fine), but I'm really hoping to get upgraded to a veranda. I know it's not likely, but I'm hoping for some pixie dust to come my way.

3sons
04-09-2006, 03:57 PM
Yes, we have cat 9 also. Our family of 5 had to have adjoining rooms. I'm sure tht means we are not likely to get an upgrade. It was still $500 cheaper than the Deluxe verandah that would hold 5. I'm glad for the extra space. We are so Excited!  :yay: :yay: :yay:

I think we are category 8.....it's true, you spend the least amount of time in your room. There are so many activities to keep you occupied.

Did anyone, who has been on the cruise before, ever book anything in the spa? My dh and I wanted to book something on the day at sea. Any recommendations?

:cloud9: I can't believe only 41 days left.....all my family talks about is the cruise and the exciting things we are going to do. We are hoping we will see the two gentlemen that waited our tables, Marion and I can't remember the other gentlemans name.......THEY WERE EXCELLENT!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc

Oh My Gosh - 41 days!! :sail: I have 10 pounds to loose and alot of details left - like ordering my gift basket for my DS. I too am hoping for a room upgrade - Cat. 9, but my TA requested a cabin that she really liked so I think my chances may not be that good. I checked Disney Cruise and there still seemed to be room in all cabin categories. It's not looking too good for an upgrade.

3sons
04-10-2006, 08:12 AM
I'm working on those same ten pounds damiel. they are the hardest to loose. I also noticed all the cabins left. Do you think that means the ship may not be at full capacity by sail date. (I've been reading threads about the pools being crowded.)
For those driving, I've also read threads about I-75 in south GA having a lot of traffic because of construction. We drove that streach of interstate last Sept. and it was bad then.
40 Days :yay: :yay:

DISNEYMAN36

My t/a said there are not many cabins left mosly 11s-12s. I tried to find sites that showed the status of cabins with not much luck. Where did you get your info?

We had to book cat 4 due to the fact there are 5 of us going dw, dd12, dd09, dd1 1/2. getting 2 cabins was not an option. Verena will be nice though. I booked this trip back in 12/05 for a christmas present for my family and I only had a choice of 4 cat 4 rooms mid ship the rest were reserved I was told.

Disneyman36, What a great gift! When we booked in Jan. through DCL, they indicated that our deck 2 aft was it. Maybe someone had just canceled. I let them know we would like mid ship, but I get the feeling connecting rooms are not that easy to come by.
The reason I mentioned the available rooms was b/c on DCL website there are at least one of cat 4-12 available. Go to DCL and pretend your booking for three for our cruise.

DISNEYMAN36
04-16-2006, 03:47 AM
Being this our first cruise we went into this aventure not knowing anything. I found this board after we booked and learned a ton since, with a little help from the porter's/Birnbaum's guide book.

We took the eairly seating 6:00. I hope I made a good decision in this time but still not sure. Going by the boards all the seatings have the goods and bads. The only bad I see from this time will be sunday rushing around after the safety drill and party to go to dinner. other than that I think it will be great and we cant wait. :Pinkbounc

F1Julie
04-16-2006, 09:20 AM
We're doing the early seating as well. DD and I usually eat around 6:00 at home, so the late seating would be way too late for us. Plus, I like the idea of seeing shows after dinner. It would be weird for us to see a show and then go to dinner.

Cdn Castaway
04-16-2006, 08:40 PM
We are doing the early dinner seating as well because last year my son who was 5 years old slept through every dinner, he was way to tired from the days excitement.:faint:

mmmagic7754
04-16-2006, 08:41 PM
Last year we had late seating for the first time. Our other two cruises were early. We like the earlier seating better, seems like more time for late night activities and not as stuffed when they bring late night sweets around.Even at 10 or 11pm they walk around with trays of sweets or cheese. So we booked early again. :cool1:

3sons
04-16-2006, 09:39 PM
We also decided on the earlier seating. We just weren't sure about pushing 3 year old that late. He would have to have a long late nap, and might miss a show.
I had not thought of late snacks! I really need to lose a few more pounds. My clothes may not fit by the end of the cruise :rotfl2: I found a packing list somewhere in my reading that suggested a button extender!

damiel
04-17-2006, 12:53 AM
Sounds like we may be the only ones with late seating. We are from the West coast - three hours time change so eating dinner at 6:00 (3:00 our time) seemed too early. I hope we arn't sorry - but I like the idea of having more time to spend doing activities before we get ready for dinner and the nights activities.
pirate: How are your pirate costumes going? We are still stuck. Went to a costume shop, but they didn't have much. I don't have much time to get it together.
We made a count down chain today. My son is so excited! (so am I!)

We start our long drive on May 11th at 3:00 AM, we stop for one night, last year we made it to Perry, Georgia, slept and headed out early and arrived in Orlando about noon....I have a few countdowns going......19 more days until our departure, we will spend 9 nights in Orlando and do all Disney Parks.......29 more days until the Cruise :yay: . After the cruise we will spend another 9 nights in Orlando and we are thinking of exploring Universal Studios, my kids have never been, my dh and I went about 14 years ago.

:cheer2: AND 12 MORE DAYS OF WORK!!!! :cheer2:

Dinner rotation is in 3 restaurants: Triton's, Parrot Cay and Animator's Palate. One restaurant you will eat in twice and last year the repeated night was the last night. My dh and I ate in Palo's for dinner the last night, the repeated night, so we wouldn't miss eating in any of the restaurants, but if the last night is pirate night I definately do not want to miss that. Does anyone know if the last night is still the repeated night or did this change?

We Received our flight info today. We went through a t/a and purchased a disney package (flight/tranportation/cruise).

Im not happy with the fligt disney set us up with :furious: . Leave harrisiburg, pa 8:30 am arrive atlanta at 10:00 leave atlanta 12:005pm arrive Orlando 1:45PM then take the next availiable disney bus to the port. The way it looks we will be lucky to be on the wonder by 3:00. Looks like alot of rushing that day.

I checked all flights and connecting for that day and there is about 4 availiable for that day that would get us there by 10:00- noon. I had my t/a check + I called disney. They will not change the flight plans. they advised me they do this to control traffic comming into the port. I know thats a crock but Ill keep trying. Next cruise Ill handle my own flight plans.

I know it will all work out and we will have a great time, I just was under the impression we would be in port alot eairlier. Guess we will eat lunch at the airport because food shuts down on the wonder at 3:30 to prepare for the muster drill at 4.

disneyman, is it possible to leave Sat. and pay for a hotel that night? It might be worth the $$$ to avoid the frustration. Which airline?
In the south we say you can't get to heaven without going through Atlanta. Which is normally fine.
Just remember, you and your family has planned this for months and ya'll will enjoy it so much! Just relax and know that it will work out.

we are flying delta. I will talk to the t/a about flying in on Sat. but the way im understanding it is I will loose $1,800.00 in airfair I paid to Disney for 5 people round trip. Most likely we will stick to flying down sunday and hope for the best. ;)

Hey everyone! :teeth: Add me to the thread, we are crusing on the Wonder (May 21) as well. :smokin:
I have my family, dh, ds (7), dd (3), and another family identical to ours.
I have cruised before, no one else in my group has. :sad2:
I am extremely excited because school will be out on May 18 and we are flying down on May 20. :yay: Then after we get back, I have the rest of the summer to be with my kids and rest up for next years kinders.

Great for you Ckphilia! :cool1: Do you know which parks you'll go to?

I've got another question. I've been reading some of the threads about "dress up" night. What do you all think that means? :confused3 These days "church clothes " could mean anything.
My boys have sports coats because I only have to buy one every couple of years and we keep passing them down! Great thing about boys, navy sports coats never go out of style! :thumbsup2
What about ladies?
I appreciate your thoughts.

:confused3  :jumping1: party: :mickeyjum :donald: :goofy: :tigger: :woohoo: I planned on all the parks! two on friday and two on saturday! with ee! I can only do certain rides I'd love to do the new one in AK but I'm not allowed to do roller coasters! bummer I love them too! I was also there in Oct so just gonna take my time this time only like 3 or 4 rides to go on.

I know I am wearing a long sundress one nite, my pirate outfit another nite and either capris and a top or a skirt and top on the other nite, I'm not getting real dressed up. Nothing formal! though I was thinking about it but decided not to dress that formal I hear alot of people don't really dress formal on the wonder but on the magic they do! Also on a 7 day I would dress formal. But you can dress in just about anything except shorts, tank tops bathing suits that sort of stuff from what I gather.

chphilia, I may just take the trusty black dress for the night I dress the boys up (don't tell anyone its my summer funeral dress!)We'll get good pics.

I am wearing a sundress type dress for dress up night, I may wear one to dinner several nights. :)
Hey 3sons, tell me the ages of your boys. My son is 7 and my daughter is 3.
We have door signs, do you? :rainbow:
I booked in Jan. also. I have been through periods of where all I do is look and read info. about the cruise, and I have been through periods where I just had to put it all away to stay sane. :flower1:

I think they put 8 & 9 year olds together. But our 3 year olds will be in the same club.
We're working on the door sign. I'm not satisified with it, its a work in progress.

Update:
We have been talking back and forth with my t/a and disney over this late arrival on the 21st. Disney would not change our flight times but did offer to fly us in on the 20th and put us up in a disney hotel for an additional $375.00.

Since we basicaly had no other choice we took the package and will be arriving on sat the 20th. Thats alot better than landing at 2:15pm on sunday then rush around. I think it will be better for my dd 1 1/2 also.

So now I can find something else to worry about.

Sorry to hear of your troubles/extra expenses DisneyMan36. :sad2: Lucky for us our t/a informed us that disney was not the best option for flights. She was able to save us quite a lot of $$$ by booking our flights for us. :thumbsup2 We decided to fly in a day before and stay at a airport hotel. Originally we were going to take a hotel shuttle back to the airport on sunday to take a disney transport (t/a suggestion), but I recently cancelled the disney transportation and opted for an alternative transport thru this web site. (click Transportation icon at the top of this page). They are going to pick us up at our non-disney hotel at a time we requested. Then pick us up at port on our return, again at a time we choose. BTW we saved $$ in the process. We should be in port by noon. My goal is to be first to board. :woohoo:

Yea, we're using Florida Tours Transport. When I looked at my post last night, there were 5 very positive reports and 1 slight negative. The negative report was because FL Tours was 15 minutes late and didn't offer an apology. I think they're out of Orlando, I don't know where there service area extends. You can click [Transportation] above to get to there web site.
