Yeah!!!! I was beginning to think we were all alone. There are 4 of us. DH(41) me (39) Ds(11) DS(5). My kids are so excited we have never been to WDW or DCL as a family. Sorry I didn't reply sooner but I worked all weekend and I am pooped when I get home. This is our big family celebration. I just became an RN in Feb and we have not taken a big trip since I started nursing school 4 1/2 long years ago. My kids and husband deserve medals for being so supportive. I am excited you all replied!!!

You are going to love it, Mary Beth. My first was last year on a 3 night Wonder cruise with my sister and just the two of us had a WONDERful time.
This time it's with my sister again, daughter with my 6 year old grandson, son and daughter-in-law with my 5 year old grandson and 4 year old granddaughter. My granddaughter turns 4 the first day of the cruise. She's my princess.
I'm sharing a cabin with my sister. It should be a lot quieter than sharing with the adored but noisy grandchildren. ;)
We booked early and are hoping for cabin upgrades.

I know we're looking forward to it. My DH has been wanting to go on a cruise for a while, but I've been afraid I'd get seasick. We're DVC members, and for the last several years we've taken the Autotrain to Florida, and I've never had any problems on the train. We're going to be in a state room with a verandah, and we are so excited to have a place to enjoy the ocean view! We just can't wait. I hope we can meet!

Oh, and DiszyGram--you're grandchildren seem like really good ages to enjoy that Disney experience. We took our children for the first time to DisneyWorld when they were 7 and 10, and it was great and we've gone a couple of other times with them. My DH and I also went to DW for our 25th anniversary w/o children, but we just loved seeing the smaller children reacting to the characters and the magic.
We hope you and your family have a great cruise!

The 6 year old visited Disney World for a week last summer but the other two have never been. I going to change that by having added two nights in Disney World after the cruise, with an all day excursion in the Magic Kingdom in-between the nights.
I'm also going to call Disney World exactly 90 days before we are there to try getting lunch for everyone in the Cinderella castle.
Great ending to what I hope will be the perfect cruise.

DiszyGram,
That is exactly what we are doing! We are flying down Saturday and staying at Ron Jon that night. After the cruise, we are driving back up to Disney for 2 more nights. Might as well make a week out of it! I'm not sure if we'll go to a park, though. We were just there this past March, so I don't want it to get old for my DD.
BTW, my DD is 6 years old, and she is very shy. It would be great if she could meet some of the other little ones on this cruise so she'll feel more comfortable at the club. Right now she is saying that she wants to do EVERY thing with us! We'd really like to do Palo one night, to celebrate our 10th anniversary, so I hope we can get her to go to the club at least one night!

My sister lives right in Cocoa Beach so it will just be a short drive over to the ship in the morning.
Adding two nights in Disney World at the All Star Movies resort was a spur of the moment decision and I'm glad I decided to do it. This trip is Grandmom's treat to everyone. :flower:

I went on the Disney cruise website! I logged on and then entered my confirmation # and my itinerary pooped up! From there, yoy can book Palo, Excursions, Spa treatments and register the little ones into the program!
We were able to book all of this 90 days out because we are Castaway Club Members! All other cruisers can book at 75 days out...which means book it on Aug. 23rd.
I booked the Dolphin Encounter for DH and oldest DD while me and 2 younger DDs will enjoy the Blue Lagoon Beach day! I have been to Nassau so many times, but have yet to go to Blue Lagoon Island!
We also booked Palo for dinner Monday and Tuesday night!
Then I pre-registered 2 younger DDs!

AspiringCindy, I went to the Disney Cruise site and my reservation number was fine. It was also driving me crazy because I couldn't find a link to make the reservations.
After a lot of searching and getting kicked back repeatably :confused3 to putting in my reservation number again, I found out why. I had just mailed out my final payment to pay off the cruise and until it's completely paid for...no early reservations.

go ahead and count the four of us too! This is our first cruise and our TA tried to talk us into something cheaper than Disney (more for your buck?), but I told her that I've been promising my kids (12yr old son, and 8yr old girl) the Disney cruise for 3 yrs.! I just found this site yesterday, and I cant believe the great info on it! I'm now a VERY proud member :) Any suggestions for an older 12 year old onboard? Not quite old enough for the teen clubs (will be 13 in Jan.), but too old for the kids stuff. He's not a happy camper right now.

Hi DVCersfromva -- I am also a DVC Member at the BWV and BCV. I almost always stay at BWV and also love it. Stayed at BCV for the first time last November/December as I took a friend, her husband and 3 kids so I thought they would like SAB best. However we hopped to the clown pool at BWV and they enjoyed that also.
Mary and I are so excited to be on this cruise. I just saw her Saturday night and she wanted to leave then! But it will be here before we know it! Are you doing main or late dining? I think we are listed as main, but I heard there is staggered seating now, so I'm not sure which time we will get. See you on the Wonder!

We'll be heading to WDW after the cruise for two nights at the All Star Movies resort. I booked two rooms there at least 5 months ago. I've only heard good reports about ASM, especially if small children are with you.
Disney provides transportation to the airport. Since they are used to picking people up first from the airport and then taking them back, it took some explaining to say why we only want it one way. It's all straightened out now...hopefully. :flower:

As it stands now, our plan is this:
We fly in on Saturday morning and I got a limo from FLTours as a surprise for my DH and DD. Part of the reason for this trip is to celebrate our 10th anniversary, so I thought this would be a nice touch. We are staying at Ron Jon Resort on Saturday night and will get a shuttle to the port on Sunday. Then after the cruise we will rent a car from Budget and drive to DW and stay at POP for 2 nights. We figured we might as well make a whole week out of it. I know it sounds like Disney is going to be very crowded that weekend, but we had already decided that we would not do any of the parks this trip. We'll swim, shop, eat at O'Hana one night, and just relax. That's going to be hard for me not to go to any parks. :earseek:
Speaking of Budget, is anyone else doing this? I was surprised that I could not find very good car rental prices through them. We usually use Dollar at the airport and can usually get really good prices, but since Dollar doesn't have a location at the port, we had to use Budget. Any good discounts that I may have missed?(I think I used the Walmart one from Mousesavers).
Thanks for listening, and we are looking forward to meeting some of our fellow Dis'ers on Nov 6th!!!!

We originally had a full size car booked from Budget with a rate of $27 MCO to Port...and then pick up at Port and return to MCO for $48...but decided to rent an SUV from Dollar at $149 for the week! I know it is more money, but the larger cargo space(there is luggage for the 5 of us) will be better for us. Also, I want to be able to exit the ship at a moments notice, and know that I have a rental car waiting just steps away! Being that we will only have 1 full day at WDW, we don't want to waste a moment!!

Hi 11/6 Cruisers!
This weekend I find out if my Jan 06 Magic/Western cruise is a "No Go". If my friend can't go I decided this morning (!) to go on my birthday (11/7). So I checked out DCL and Cat 11 Deck 7 Aft is still available, so I may be joining you all ::yes::
I already had planed on WDW for the last weekend of the F&WF. I'll be meeting some DISers there Thu-Sun.......so, since I'll be flying down anyway....why not jump on the Wonder? I've gotten so excited by this idea, I'm kind of hoping my friend cancels :goodvibes
I'll be traveling alone and this will be my FIRST cruise (of any kind). Don't even plan on getting off the ship at Nassau, may do Palo brunch that day (my birthday).

Hope you get to sail with us! I never thought of sailing alone, but I'm sure you'll meet some great people on this trip!
I'm really upset! My digital camera just broke! I sent it out to get fixed, but they said it would take 4-8 weeks to get it back! I guess I'll be buying several throw-away cameras for the trip! Now I won't be able to e-mail pics to anyone. Oh well.
No documents yet. We reserved through DVC, so I don't know how quickly they get them to us. I'll really worry if I get to the 2 week mark and still no docs!
I'm not packing yet, but I am buying some little things a little at a time. I got my over the door shoe holder and my waterproof camera. I put a call in to Shirley at The Perfect Gift to make up a basket for my DD. Not sure what to put in it yet, though. So many great ideas!

I need to put in a call to Shirley as well! For DD(4 yr), we are making a basket with Pail & shovel, night light, glow necklaces, goobers/raisonettes(for the movies)and drinks...for my older DDs, they will get underwater goggles, a waterproof camera, water bottle straps and glow necklaces!
Hey!!!...whoever gets their docs, post immediately so we can do a cheer :cheer2: !
Gutto: it is funny, I could probably do most of our packing now...being that in Jersey, the weather is getting cooler and we are presently not using our summer clothes. Normally, we would be switching our wardrobes to fall/winter around now! I have been holding out because I know I will need all that summer stuff!
It seems that there will be alot of us at the Radisson Saturday night! The hotel is sold out, and being that I am checking in after 8:00PM on Sat., I am a little bit nervous that they won't have a room for us even though I have reserved one.

We are flying in the night before and will be picked up at the airport by both my sister and brother-in-law, in two vehicles. 7 people to pick up with luggage takes more than one car to transport. :)
We'll stay in Cocoa Beach at their beautiful home and get to the ship before noon the next day. There will be three cabins between us but I still don't know what catagory. They were guaranteed as 12s when we booked the cruise a long time ago. I know a 12 will be too small for my son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. My sister is certain we will be upgraded. I have our magnetic door signs ready to put up so the grandchildren can find their cabin doors.
I've started packing for myself as I switch my summer clothes for my fall and winter ones. I've ordered an airport van to pick us all up from my house the day we leave and to be waiting for us when we return. Sure beats the hassle of using an assortment of cars and people to drop us off and try to find us later.
I'm a planner and I love making things go smoothly. So far, so good. :flower:

Yesterday I had my travel agent put a hold on cabin #7125 (didn't want to risk loosing out on being near the 'secret' verandah, since I have an inside cabin). Called my rewards people and there are enough points to cover my airfare, so I'm thinking Saturday night at POFQ instead of a value. Check in, a nice boat ride to DTD, dinner and shopping, maybe a nice apple martini before bed to kick off the vacation. Boy, this is sounding good ::yes::

If so, I'll just have to wait till boarding day. If anyone else is planning on staying on the ship that day and wants to join me, just send me a PM or post here.
I'll be staying at POFQ the night before, and heading back to WDW after the cruise to meet up with some DIS pals for the last weekend of the F&WF and having dinners at three of my favorite places, Cape May, Boma and 'Ohana.

DiszyGram, I'm traveling alone, so it's just self (55) for me.
I bought my trip insurance last night. Went to insuremytrip dot com and pulled up some comparisons. Ended up going with CSA for $75. Not bad at all!
Has anyone given any thought to a DIS meet? I know a lot of other groups have met on Dec 10 around 3PM for a 'say hi' quick meeting before the 4pm lifeboat drill. It would be fun to see each other's faces....just so you can say 'hi' as we pass each other on the ship. ::yes::

I changed it for you, ibouncetoo. :) I would love to meet some of the others. I'm a moderator for another large site and many of us went to different site events. I took it upon myself to arrange meetings with everyone.
The events were fantastic but meeting friends from our site were just as fantastic.
My sister (51) and I (61) will be sharing a cabin. Both of us are very friendly and easy to talk to. My daughter (37) is the same way and I know she would love meeting other people. She is a people person.
Maybe one of our group here has done this before on a Disney cruise and can come up with a good place and time to meet. I seem to remember reading about wearing something.

. I seem to remember reading about wearing something.
Yes, DIS green (lime green). Always keep you eyes peeled for lime green ribbons, Mickey heads and DIS t-shirts, lanyards and pins. DISers are all over the place on the ship. I'm sure there a quite a few that will be on ours that haven't posted here.
I'm making a special t-shirt to wear that day (or the following day on). I'll post a picture of it when I'm done....so you'll all be able to find me.

Dizygram Thanks for make the list. It is really cool to see us all listed it also is great to see the ages of others kids and such. Myself and DH are both very social, but sometimes it is really hard for us to socialize with our DD, Dont get me wrong she loves people but is mentally and phyically handicapped and sometimes takes time to adjust. This is her make-A-Wish trip so we will be letting her get away with being our "cruise director" :earsgirl: My DS is very social and will really like meeting other "guys" to hang out with. This is my 1st cruise so I have no idea of meeting places . This is a long shot, but is anyone on this cruise taking Amtrak's AutoTrain to get there the day before we sail? We are, and we're looking forward to it. For us, it's a totally relaxing way to get to Florida.

DizneyGram-
Thanks for putting out the list! Looks like lots of young travelers will be with us - it would be nice to meet so they could get to put a face with a name for the kids clubs! I've also read that people sometimes meet on Deck 10 before the drill. That would be okay by me! Or what about the hidden Deck 7 aft verandah? Or Is it too small to accomodate everyone? I'll have to go buy something lime green since I don't have a Dis'ers t-shirt(yet).
Jackie(IBounceTwo), I am a Jackie, too!
We haven't gotten our docs yet, either, but I hold my breath everytime I see that UPS guy drive down my street!

I'm willing to meet up with everyone who wants to. I even found a nice light green ribbon at home I'm going to make into a bow and pin on whatever I'm wearing each day.
Hopefully one of you who is very familiar with the ship can come up with a good place and time to meet.
We will probably get on board before noon since we'll be staying in Cocoa Beach. My sister is letting my children and grandchildren stay in her house the night before while she and I and my brother-in-law stay at a friend's house.
The friend and his family live in a beautiful, very expensive home...that is haunted. :earseek: The ghost can be seen by the owner and it moves things. His wife and daughter can't see the ghost but can feel when he's around. It's a young man who was the son of former owners and he does not try to scare people. I'm supposed to be sleeping in the room he appears in the most. I would LOVE to see him and would not be frightened, just completely fascinated. :goodvibes
My sister is a very good photographer and will try to capture the ghost in a picture. The owner will point out where it is located. Hope he makes an appearance. Florida seems to have a lot of haunted places.
This is a link to a picture of me, some short, big-eared guy I picked up, and my sister, Debby. It was taken last year on my first cruise on the Disney Wonder.

Did you get any type of upgrade?
dvcersfromva
10-13-2005, 07:59 PM
No, no upgrade. I shouldn't feel bad, though. This is our first cruise, and we used DVC points and sprun for a category 6 room with a veranda since we'll be celebrating our 30th anniversary. It you (or other out there) get an upgrade, let us know!
AspiringCindy
10-13-2005, 08:33 PM
I am not counting on an upgrade this time out because we are now a family of 5 and had to book adjoining/connecting rooms! We have outside cabins (cat.9) and didn't want to spring for a verandah because as it was, we are paying adult prices for 2 of our DDS! On our last cruise, we were able to upgrade at port from a cat. 9 to a cat. 5 for $200. Of course we were only a family of 4 back then! There is a slim to none chance of me seeing an upgrade! That's okay though...I'm happy enough to be going! :teeth:

Hi Kids
The excitement is building. I was worried I'd miss UPS for my documents, but if they are sending some in the mail, well, I'd better start checking my mailbox DAILY! ::yes::
I'm coming to the port via Disney transportation from the resort, so I think I'll be getting in a little later than those of you who are staying nearby. I'll do some exploring this weekend on other threads to see where DIS people tend to meet. I remember Deck 10 (near the Overlook Bar) around 3PM being mentioned several times.....but I'll try and see what others have done so we have some options. I think that time kind of works for most people because you've had time to see your stateroom, make sure your luggage is there (unpack if you're fast). Pretty much after the lifeboat drill at 4PM, people tend to go their own way for shows/dinner/exploring, etc. I'll report back.
My travel agent asked if I wanted to put an upgrade note on my reservations. I told her I wanted to stay on decks 5-7 and since 11's usually get upgraded to 9's, I didn't want to. She told me later she just put in Cat 8 or above......yeah, right! I don't want to loose my Deck 7 aft location.....well, OK, I might give it up for a verandah! ;)

DVcersfromva congrats on your docs! :cool1: I can't wait untill ours show up. Being its a MAW trip I am not sure if they get mailed to us your the wish corrdinator. I am hoping its to us otherwise I most likely wont have them untill the day or 2 before. This is getting so exciting.

My DD is going on her Wish trip and has been having a terrible promblem for the last4 months with reoccurring ear/ sinus infections so any of you that could please keep her in your prayers. Thanks Gail Her entire life has been an on going challenge. She is our "little Angel" .She loves Mickey so much that we moved to to Fla to live close to him. Since she goes to the parks all of the time the cruise would be a new Disney experience for her. She loves Mickey so much that when ever she sees him nothing else in the world matters. It still bring tears to my eyes to see how she reacts to him . It is truely magical ! :lovestruc

Michelle, she will have MANY opportunities to see her idol!!
Also, regarding the meet place, the Overlook is a good place to meet, because it is out of the way. It sits on a higher deck above the Cove pool. It often goes missed! Just a secret though...they have nice wraps around tea time everyday!!!
update: Just found out, they only have Panini sandwiches and wings instead of wraps...and only on sea days!

Okay, sorry everyone. I was wrong about the delivery of the cruise documents. They did arrive via UPS--not the mail. My DH gets home before me and picks up the mail. When I got home, the box (a little bigger than a box of checks) was sitting on the kitchen counter on top of that day's mail. I wrongly assumed it came in the mail too. We live in a fairly rural area, and our UPS guy (as well as the mail carrier) just comes into our breezeway and leaves packages. My DH left the package for me to open when I got home from work. Only after reading this post did he tell me I'd made a mistake about the delivery!!! :confused3

We are getting so excited here in MA - especially since it has been raining for two weeks almost straight and neither one of my boys has had their sporting events. I just looked up the past weather in FL and it was 87 last year!!! I can't believe this trip is so near. Y' all will probably get on the ship before us because we are staying at the Polynesian before and I think the resort guests come later so have an extra shrimp or drink for me or whatever you like. DIZYGRAM thanks for making that list!!!!!! I think I'll pack today. Anybody have any tips for a first time cruiser and WDW visiter? Can't wait to meet you all. Here's a list of things that are less obvious items that I try to include in my packing!
a night lite
air fresheners (plumbing can be poor)
an extension cord (to dry hair in front of big mirror)
an alarm clock
gallon size ziplock bags (for wet suits, ice for our cooler etc.)
door stoppers(for our connecting rooms)
beach towels (I know they supply towels, but I like larger size towels)
lots of $1 bills for tipping room service
2 way radios
6 clothes pins (hanging bathing suits and beach towels)
sample size of laundry detergent
a lot of cruisers also use an over the door shoe hanger for storing toiletries and such due to the tight counter space in the bathroom!

Three weeks from today, I'll be heading to the airport! Time to do the banana dance
Today I'm going to plot out (on paper, so I don't forget) all the things I need to take care of and when to do them before I go. Today is shop for a snorkel mask that goes over eyewear and get my ears re-pierced. Then there's plotting out the hair cut, hair color, pedicure, taking dinner outfit to the tailor, organizing my papers, bla bla bla.
EVERYBODY, remember to alert you credit card company that you will be traveling out of the country and maybe making 'out of the ordinary' charges. Also if you have a low credit limit, or are close to your credit limit, ask about having you limit temporarily increased. You want to have enough to draw on in case you have to pay for unscheduled hote/airlines/food should there be any problems. Your trip insurance (which you all have, right?) might cover these things, but you have to pay for them first yourself.
Judith, we may be on the same bus to the port! I know they usually do pick-ups from several resorts on one bus. I'm getting on at POFQ, maybe I'll see you on the bus!

Judith, I think several of us are on deck 7....Gutto, ode2joy, michelle9343 are also. And dvcersfromva & newright, are on deck 6. Maybe we should have a 'back up plan' DIS meet on the secret verandah after the lifeboat drill!?!? I know I'll be wanting to check that spot out as soon as possible. I'm thinking hot tea and a good perusal of the navigator may be my deck 7 verandah morning ritual. ::yes::

We like to use the 2 way radios on board because they just go unit to unit! As long as you are within 2 miles of each other, they will always work!
With cell phones, once you are out at sea, the roaming charges not only accumulate, but sometimes the call can not be reached. It is almost funny...on our last trip, DH and I were standing next to each other while he called my cell. The call never came through! :rotfl: I guess we were standing too far apart!

Hi everybody! Our docs came Friday! I'm not sure how they came, though. They were in between the doors when I got home. So that could be from the postman if they didn't fit in the mailbox, or from the UPS man. I already threw the box away, so I can't check.
Looks like we will be the only deck 2 family. I am going to try to do a magnet for the door, but I'm not very crafty (or computer savvy), so it won't be very fancy.
A meet at 3:00 on Deck 10 sounds fine with us. We are staying at Ron Jon the night before, so we will head over to the ship around noon. :grouphug: I figure the pool at the resort will be neat, so Millie ( our DD) will want to swim there first.
Jackie, we have early seating for dinner, I guess because of our daughter. Otherwise we would love to do dinner with you!

Just got home from Walmart. I got almost everything on the list - stocked up on meds/bandaids/moleskin. I am still debating about the 2ways but I think it would be a good idea after all and I am going to go back another day. I found an over the door shoe holder but its not plastic. Its a canvasy material so I think I'll go to Target and look for the plastic one and if I can't find it I'll keep this one. I did just look at a Navagitor from August and for that particular cruise:
Sun was Hercules 6:30/8:30. Also was 70's Disco night in Wavebands.
Mon (Nassau) was cabaret with Mark Nizer 6:30/8;30 family friendly show, I remember reading people really enjoyed this. 80's night at wavebands. at 3pm there was kite making, so you could fly kites the next day at CC. Also a $15 martini tasting and a $10 beer tasting
Tue (CC) and Pirate night!
Golden Mickey 6;30/8;30, pirate party and fireworks. Karaoke night at Diversions
Wed (sea) $12 wine tasting. Disney Dreams 6:30/8:30 AND a matinee during the day. There's also a cruise staff lunch at one of the restaurants, you can dine with the crew. The big DON'T MISS ADULT EVENT: Pub Night at Diversions. The crew put on a show at 10:45pm, heard it was a riot! :rotfl2:
Lots of family activities going on all the time, shows, contests, bingo....kids, four days WILL NOT BE ENOUGH!

AspiringCindy,
We are cabin #2068. Is this across the ship from you guys? I picked this one since it is close to the center of the ship. It's my first cruise, and my husband thought I'd better try everything to limit my chances of seasickness. It would ruin me for any 7-nighters we might decide to do later!
Jackie,
Thanks for the navigator example! I can't wait to see what we have to choose from and what we choose to do. Our DD is not sure about the kid's club. She's pretty shy. So we may be doing mostly family things. Although I'd like to see 80's night! I might have to venture over there by myself! ;)

A question to the cruisers friends !
i was checking DCL reservations today and saw that they still have available places to many categories, even cat 12 is available for 11/06. it sounds curious to me, because i thought that the ship should be almost full at this time. Do you think that we will not have the ship with full capacity ?
DiszyGram
10-16-2005, 03:52 PM
Hi Gutto, I think you meant 11/06, not 12/06. :) My guess, and it is only a guess, that the time we are going is not the most popular. People like to take a cruise around a holiday and it's too early a date for Thanksgiving.
School is in session and many schools don't like children taking off for family vacations during regular school days. Of course that would limit the vacations to the most crowded times of the year. :( . My grandchildren will be on unexcused time from school, but the trip is well worth it.
My sister and I will be in cabin 1069, an inside deluxe cabin. There will be a magnetic sign on our door with Minnie Mouse (me) and Daisy Duck (Debby) on it. I'm sure we can make it to wherever we all decide to meet, if 3pm is not the time we need to do the safety drill.

A ship with unsold cabins, means a ship with possible upgrades!! Be sure when you get your documents, you check your cabin number.....sometimes they upgrade before sending them out and it's a nice surprise. Sometimes when you check in at the ship you are advised of an upgrade and you also have the opportunity to buy upgrades for special rates. One of the 'perks' of cruising in the 'slow season' ::yes::

Good Morning everyone!!!! The kids are off to school, I just got back from a run (only so I can lose 5 before we go?) and I have a nice cup of Dunkin DOnuts while I obsess over my Disney trip - life is good.
We will be staying the WDW for four nights before the cruise. So we will be taking the DME from the airport. Has anyone used it this year? I just read a passporter thread that wasn't so positive. Does anyone know the layout of the airport and how it works?
I can't believe its only 16 days away!!!! I decided to get 2 ways if not for anything but the cruise and I figure that we can use them skiing this year.
I am also interested in getting a new digital camera. Does anyone have one that they love? I now have a Olympus stupid camera - point and shoot- that takes phenomenal pictures. I want simple to use but good pictures. Help!!! It is hard to get in sync with all this technology. Thanks in advance for your help.
Well, everyone have a nice day. I am going to try to get this house cleaned before I have to pick the kids up and go to work.

jblrn2b > We went last year and didn t have any problem at Orlando airport, it is very easy to get oriented, it has a lot of signs.
take a look at the official site of the airport:
http://www.orlandoairports.net/goaa/main.htm
About DME i have a friend that used the service last year without any problem, they put " greeters " at the terminal so i guess it is very easy to find them. I read at Orlando Sentinel that Disney had problems with other companies at the terminal, maybe something had been changed. here is the link:

Today i use a Nikkon coolpix, i bought last year at super-target in Kissimmee, it costs about $ 400,00 ( included a new memory card that you should buy to add more pictures) ,it is a very very good cam, the great advantage is the battery, it works with a kind of bat that doens t get memory so easy. it was a big problem when i was useing my Sony DSC 71.
i really sorry about any misspelling

Mary Beth, shame on you for even saying the "H" word. I won't even allow myself to turn on the weather channel.
I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do with myself Thursday at WDW after the cruise. I can't check in to POP until my friend from Chicago arrives at 9:30 or 10PM (she has the AP). Only have a 2 day park hopper, which I will use to play with her on Fri/Sat. There's always DTD shopping/movie, or I may rent one of the water mice (or whatever they're calling those little motor boats now) and zip around the lake. But if the Magic Kingdom sends out its siren song....I may just have to buy a one day/one park ticket and play at the happy place ::yes:: I do have an ADR for Kona that night, I've always wanted to try it for dinner. Made it for 7:40P, so I could walk out to the beach afterwards and watch WISHES. (sigh) I'm ready to go NOW!

I have a small set of drawings picturing all the decks and 10 has the Wide World of Sports in the bow, Palo in the stern (love those nautical terms :teeth: ) and the Outlook Bar mid deck.
There is a midship elevator lobby that might be an easy place to meet. We would have to bunch up in a spot that doesn't block the elevator. :grouphug:

The Outlook bar is right next to the midship elevator so it will be easy to find.
I hope hurricane Wilma doesn't cancel some cruises coming up before ours and pray it leaves the Bahamas and Castaway Cay alone.
We were on Castaway Cay last year and it still showed a lot of damage from the two hurricanes that hit not long before we arrived. There have been so many, I don't remember the hurricane's names. The bus tour we took on the way to tour Atlantis in Nassau showed a lot of badly damaged homes in town.
It made the poor section of town look even worse. The people we met from Nassau were friendly and wonderful.

Hi Jackie,
I'm sorry for bringing the "h" word into play. My mind is a strange and frightening place! Let's hope for the best. Have fun with your extra time after the cruise.
Hey, did you ever go to Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge or Cape Canveral National Seashore? We've been to both several times. If you are an animal/bird geek like we are, you might enjoy those places. Close to Port Canaveral, Merritt Island is free (the seashore is $5.00), and there are lots of wildlife to see. We've seen everything from alligators, sandpipers, roseatte spoonbills to a Florida panther on our trips there. We'll definately stop by on the way down or back. It will be a great time of year for migratory birds (how geeky does that sound!) Anyway, it's a thought on how to pass the time!

My documents came today. There's a change in how we go to dinner. If you have the early dinner, you will be assigned 5:45pm, 6pm, or 6:15 pm dinner. They are staggering the times people come and go to avoid crowding.

DiszyGram, :disrocks: Don't it just?
I just talked to DCL and they will take you to ANY Disney resort when you leave the ship to go back to WDW. PICK-UP from WDW is at the land/sea resorts only. I get picked up from POFQ Sunday morning at Noon....so should get there about 1:30 (ish). So those of you who are there early, save me some food! Actually, I wonder what time they stop serving at the buffet.....well, I can always have a mess of ice cream from Scoops for lunch ::yes::
The staggared dining was designed to decrease crowds in the halls and atrium etc. Which ever rotation you have determines the time you have....for example TAAP may have the first 15 min segment, APPT the second and PTTA the third.(I just made those rotations up as an example, don't remember exactly what order the restaurants go in on the rotations).
BTW..... I'm still interested in linking dinner reservations with any of you who have late seating. I'd love to 'know' someone at my table ::yes:: And I love kids, so I'm not looking for adult only dining ;)

Hi all I have a dilema I need your help with. We added on an extra night with the 7 day land/sea so that we could make the most of our park time. I received my documents with my DCL luggage tags that state 11/3/05-/11/10/05. I haven't received any DME tags for 11/2/05 and when I asked my TA from DU she said that Disney knows we are coming early and not to worry about it. I am afraid they are going to lose our bags. We are taking on board 3 bags and checking only 1 (I think - I haven't completely finished packing yet). But I am still afraid it will get lost. What do I do? Thanks Judith
DiszyGram
10-24-2005, 09:14 AM
Hi Judith, I would take your travel agent's advice, and don't worry about it. :) This is a trip to look forward to with excitement and happiness. Don't let a worry about something that may, and probably won't happen, spoil your anticipation of a great vacation. :flower:
I have one little thing I do with my packing that I want to share. I go out and buy new underwear. Then I go through my drawers at home and pick out the underwear in the worst shape. Those are the ones I take with me, and throw out after I've worn them.
It doesn't give you much more room in your suitcase when you come home, but it makes the contents seem "fresher" if your suitcase is searched on the way back. :teeth:
ibouncetoo
10-24-2005, 09:50 AM
Judith, I've read that some people, when they arrive at MCO, insist on collecting their own checked luggage and personally taking it on the DME bus. So if you don't have any (regardless of date printed) ME tags, I believe you can do this. What's important, is that DME knows to pick YOU up. If your travel agent has given them your revised schedule you should be fine. BUT, if you want to make sure, call your resort for that first night and have them connect you (or give you the number to call) for ME and speak with them directly.

Apparently Blue Lagoon Island is in need of repair(not due to the hurricane)and refurbishment. I think Disney has dropped the excursion because they don't like to promote and endorse anything that is less than their standards! On the phone, the CM said they(Dolphin Encounter) are not going to be up and running. Yet many have called the place directly...and they are accepting reservations through January!

Hey everyone-
This is just a request for you all to keep us in your thoughts. My DFIL has to have surgery 2 days before we leave for our trip. I'm worried about him anyway; now I'm worried that we won't make the trip, either. :guilty: He has to have neck surgery (again) to fuse some discs. I was told it was a 6 hour surgery which really has me worried. He's not in the greatest of health anyway. I wish he would have had this done after we get back. I know we won't want to leave if he's not doing well afterwards. Besides that, we didn't get insurance. Jeff told me not to get it, but I was a little skeptical.

I'm passing on a question from my daughter-in-law. She's bringing along some nice activities and school projects for the children to work on. They require scissors, the blunted ones. She wants to know if they are ok to bring on the ship?

DiszyGram, my birthday is the 7th (Monday). I have a sign like these that just says "Celebrating a WONDER~ful Birthday", would you like me to bring it so you guys can put it on the approprate door?
I'm sure you can bring the blunt edge sissors....just pack then in your checked luggage. I don't image they'd be doing projects the first few hours on the ship.

That would be great. It would go on my daughter-in-law's and granddaughter's door for both of their birthdays.
All 5 of us adults in our group have a 10:30 am reservation at Palo for brunch on Nov. 9th, our day at sea. Would you like to join us? You can say yes here or send me a message. :) I'm 61 and my sister is 51 so you would fit right in with us. Just don't ask my sister to get up and bellydance. She would do it. :earseek: I may be ditsy but she beats me by a mile. :teeth: Since I am the oldest of 6 children and their role model, I have to behave myself..at least in public.

Hi everyone, this is Debby, DiszyGram's sister, and I am very excited about going on this cruise and meeting everyone on the board. My husband and I have cruised on the Magic quite a few teams and have always enjoyed our Disney cruises. The shows are like going to a play on Broadway and the food is the best. Be sure to be hungry when you get on the ship because there will be a delicious buffet waiting for you.

Dancer754 Welcome
I am looking so foward to meeting everyone.Question , how much work is envolved in filling out the documents? Ours went directly to MAW and they are meeting us on Thrus night. I work ad Disney on Friday and Saturday night ( Fri till 2:00am and Sat untill 1:30 am yuck) and I was wondering what needed to be filled out .Do you fill out luggage tags and can I pre print info on mailing labels? If so what info needs to be on them. Also Angelina is still sick I had her back to the Dr yesterday and he says is viril(sp?) so it has to run its corse but it has now been going on since last Tuesday. Anyway even if she gets better over the weekwnd I will keep her home all of next week . I keep praying that this will pass soon. It is not unusual for her to take so long to get better I just want her to have a wonderful trip. When she is sick she gets extremly sleepy and it lingers for a really long time. I know that she will really love the shows so I would hate for her to sleep through them. Thanks for listening. I just need to ramble on a little.

Michelle,
I sure hope Angelina gets better soon! We still have a week, so hopefully she will start feeling better before you leave. I'll say an extra little prayer for her, too.
Does anyone have any idea what the movies on board will be? I think I heard there is a number we can call to find out, but I haven't done a search on it yet. I was hoping that Chicken Little might be showing since it opens on Nov 4th! That one looks really good.
I'm starting to pack. I can't believe how much trouble I have with this. We've never been away for a whole week, so we have to pack more than normal. I hope I can keep my suitcases under 50 lbs.!!!
I made my door posters already. They are just hand written and colored, since I cannot figure out these computer images and stuff. My DD helped make them bright and colorful, and she is going to make up her own poster, too!
We can't wait for this trip! And we are looking forward to meeting all of you, too! See ya there! :grouphug:

Update-
I called the number and Chicken Little is playing! There were several more, but I can't remember them. The girl said them really quickly with a less than perfect accent, but I heard Chicken Little, so I didn't pay much more attention to the others. I think I heard Flight Plan, Herbie and National
Treasure. Sorry I can't remember the others.

We are also hoping Chicken Little will be playing . I have no idea how to find out before hand.
I wish I started to pack. With Angelina being home sick I really dont know how I will pack. I mentally have pack everything 100 times over , so i know what I want to pack just have to have a little alone time to do it. Hopefully Sunday. :goodvibes Thanks for the prayers. She actually has gotten an even stronger cough so I really dont know . To complicate things 2 really good friends will be in town doing the Disney thing and we really want to get together, so if she is feeling better I really have a crazy busy week. Its always feast or famin. I am trying to make some door signs and tee shirts but cant seem to get them finished . I made 2 cute door signs but need to laminate them and had a few other ideas. Whatever gets done will get done. I just really hate waiting to the last min.

Hi again cruisers. Thanks for the info on how to link the dining -- I got my TA to link my dining with dvcersfromva so we are all set. Mary and I are also doing Palo brunch on sea day at 11:00 so we will hopefully see you there, DiszyGram. Also, about the luggage tags -- they are self-adhesive and have your stateroom number on them, so you should probably use only them. The cruise documents are very simple -- I filled ours out in 5-10 minutes earlier today, so don't stress about getting them late. You can probably take a couple minutes right before checking in and do them -- the only hassle is that all adults in your party have to sign just one of the forms. Otherwise, simple and easy!
See everyone at 3:00 on the 6th -- I'm not sure what Mary and I will be wearing, but I have a mobility problem (very bad knees) and will be on an electric scooter from Care Medical. The scooters I have rented in the past are either blue or red, so I am sure I will have the same on this trip. Mary has red hair so she will also stand out!

Dane,
Welcome! I'd seen a post by you eleswhere and wondered if you'd come 'check-in' with us.
Page 5 of this thread lists all of us here, with ages of children, and some other info.
We are planning a short DIS-meet on embarkation day at 3PM on deck 10....above Scoops. We chose this location because it's less crowded and the kids can hit Scoops for ice cream while the adults talk. ::yes:: We'll all have to attend the life-boat drill at 4pm, so it will be a quick hello. Come by and introduce yourself (and family), and you'll at least have people to wave and say hi to during the cruise. I also plan on going back to deck 10 (above the Goofy pool) to watch the sail away party.
Hope to see you!

Hi AspiringCindy,
We booked a room for Nov. 7 at the Paradise Island Comfort Suites for $152.00 plus tax/gratuities through www.smartertravel.com. That will give me and my DH access to Atlantis' pool, beach, dig, and aquarium. We thought it was a pretty good deal--and cheaper than the dolphin encounter. We had wanted to do that, too, but we also wanted to spend some time at the beach.
If you're interested, you need to go to the smartertravel.com site, and click on the "Significant Organization Savings Rate." I called the Comfort Suites directly, and the rate they gave me was $40 more than the website. They told me it would be no problem to check in in the morning to go over to Atlantis. I don't know what the cost would be for more than 2 people.
I hope this helps!

OK, hair cut and colored, pedicure done......now does anyone know how I could drop, oh, say 50 lbs by next weekend? ;)
Does everyone have their docs? Mine are coming Air Express to my office tomorrow. If you hear any shrieking coming from the west....it isn't a ghost or goblin....it will be me if the docs don't show!
I re-worked my WDW portion of my itinerary and now instead of wandering around aimlessly on Thursday I will be using one day of my hopper doing MK and Epcot (lunch at Crystal Palace, dinner noshing at F&WF) and an Illuminations cruise that night. Friday, park hopping with DIS friends Epcot/MGM/Epcot (lunch at 50's PT and dinner at Cape May) and Saturday buying a one day/one park ticket to AK and doing some relaxing by the pool and dinner at Boma. Took a while for that plan to come together, but I like the way it looks ::yes::
Has anyone heard if the stingrays have come back to Castaway Cay? I know they were 'released' (took the net down) for Wilma and I don't think the excersion has been available since then. Maybe I'll go look for a 'live from the Wonder' thread and see.

Jackie, I got the hair cut and curled last week, this week it gets colored. I'm going to get a pedicure and manicure done too. The pedicure will last a looog time, the manicure will probably get messed up before I get on the ship.
Am I the only one who tries screwing in something with my fingernail? Doesn't help the nail.
Let me know if you find the secret of losing those pounds. No matter where I try to lose them, they find their way back. :confused3
BTW, I'm trying something new for me on the airplane. Everytime I fly somewhere, I catch a cold. Last year it turned into bronchitis, thanks to a woman sitting behind me who was trying to see if her lungs could be blown out of her mouth. :earseek: Walmart had a big supply of something called Airborne displayed in their medicine aisle. I've never heard of it but it looks interesting.
It's a tube of ten tablets that are supposed to stop a cold before it gets going. If anyone is interested in it, do what I did and investigate it on Google. I take one in a fizzing cup of water one hour before getting on the airplane and am not supposed to get sick. The reviews make it sound incredible. The proof will be in seeing if I get through this flight and trip and stay cold free.
I read Oprah Winfrey bought cases of it to give to friends. :)
Just did a search on here and see it's already been discussed.

Hi all,
We are still looking forward to this trip, but we did hit a bit of a "snag" (understatement) on Sunday. Our DS (21) had to be hospitalized on Sunday night in the psychiatric ward of the local hospital. He was diagnosed about 6 months ago with bipolar and anxiety disorder, but his meds were making him feel like a zombie so decided to quit. Well, he had a meltdown. He's out of the hospital now, and our DD (24) went to visit him tonight (he didn't want us along and doesn't feel comfortable talking to us yet), so hopefully we'll get a report. Our DD also has bipolar--diagnosed at about age 15. She (and DH and I and probably DS most of all) had quite a few rough years, but she is doing better now.
Will someone get these anvils off of our chests!?!!! We're planning on making the trip barring any further emergencies, but, oh please, just let those two be okay and have happy lives.
Thanks for letting me vent. We're looking forward to getting away and meeting all of you.

I hope your family birthday celebration is great, and we look forward to meeting you.
And, hey, we've been out your way only once (though my DH was born in AZ to a military dad), but we love it out there! We took a trip to the Sonoran Desert several years ago (Tanque Verde Ranch and then onward to the Grand Canyon). Oh, it was great. We were at a dude ranch, and the horses trampled over something the locals called "odora." It smelled great, and ever since our trip, I've been trying to find out how to get that smell back here in Virginia, but I can't find what it actually was. We're also jealous of your lack of "daylight savings time." We now back on "real time" but only until April and then in 2007 even less of that "real" time.
We sure hope to see you soon.

my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I can not imagin how difficult this is on all of you. I know that it is such a hard balance to find the right meds. I hope your son is feeling better. It is so hard to be a parent no matter what your childerns ages are. We are really looking foward to meeting you and are sending :grouphug: and pikie dust your way.
We had our own little scare today. I know I have told you all about my Angelina, she is still not feeling great but not any worst. Well I get a call today from my sons school that he is have an asthma attack( which has never happened before) the nurse was extremly concerned and of course I was at the mall over 35 mins away. I hit every light and was behind every slow poke on the rode. By the time I got there he was breathing better but not great. Took him to the Dr and got him some new med and we will hope for the best. It seems like its always something else.
Question for all
Is anyone dressing up for pirate night?

Hi Michelle,
Thank you for your kind words. You have so much on your plates and are still willing to reach out. Thank you.
I hope your little Vito is doing better! Our daughter has asthma, also, and it can be scary indeed! If you can't get enough air, it is frightening! We had many trips to the emergency room with Rebecca, and we feel for you. We sure hope you, your husband, Vito, and Angelina are all well for this trip.
Today's scary happening was my father (82 with dementia, prostate cancer, and no mobility). He "forgot" he couldn't get around, and tried to get up from his chair and fell and hit his head on the tile floor. I spent the afternoon in the emergency room with him--over 50 stitches and a big scare. The CATSCAN said no concussion, but he sure looks miserable and has a horrible black eye. Worrying about hurricanes looks easy now!
We're still (with all that's going on) looking forward to meeting you all. God willing, we'll see you on Sunday.

Marybeth Sometimes don't you think enough is enough. I hope you Farther is feeling better. I think the circle of life is amazing . We start off needed so much care and so many end up needed the same later in life. Bruising to the face look sso horrible. I hope and pray nothing else goes on in your family.I am really looking foward to meeting you and giving you a hug in person :grouphug: How is your son doing?

I am feeling the same as you. I can't imagin how I will be done before Sat Night. But I know by Sunday afternoon it will all be worth it!
To All I know that alot of you have kept my DD Angelina in your prayers. Well amazingly yesterday her horrible cough just stopped and so did her runny nose. I think God was listening. Now if he could just bring her energy level back....

I'm happy to hear your good news, Michelle. :) Looking forward to meeting you and your family. I know prayer does work. It doesn't matter what faith the person doing the praying has, the power of the prayer is the same.
Can't believe, 6 months after making the reservations, the cruise is only 3 days away. We are all flying down on Saturday so it's really starting in two days for us.
I had my pedicure and manicure yesterday. The toes look good but the nails were messed up shortly after I got home. They didn't like me using my hands to clean up my hose reels outside with them and bringing them inside for the winter. :guilty: I'm just going to put clear polish on my fingernails, chips in that polish don't look as bad. :)

Hey everyone!
Just thought I'd check in to let you all know that my FIL came through his surgery okay. He's in a lot of pain, ofcourse, but he has already been to therapy this morning. Hopefully, the healing will start quickly. He'll still be in the hospital when we leave on Saturday, but we feel really good about everything.
I'm sorry to hear about everyone elses worries right now. We'll keep you all in our prayers as well. I know how hard it is to leave when things aren't "just right".
Jackie, I have ALOT of running around to do today and tomorrow, too! I have most of our things together (spread out all over the ping pong table). Now it's just time to put everything together!
I still need to find Millie some of those "earplane" things. I can find adult ones, but I can't seem to find the child size ones.
Sophilab1,
I'm so glad you joined us! It sounds like our kids are close in age - maybe they'll like to be in the club together!
See everyone on Sunday!!!!!! :Pinkbounc :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Hey everyone!
(spread out all over the ping pong table).
WOW, just had a flashback to my childhood. We had a ping pong table in the basement and it got A LOT of use for things other than ping pong ::yes:: It was great for spreading out fabric and cutting patterns and best of all it was set up as 'command central' for Christmas gifts and wrapping. In the post-Santa years all our presents were stored there under a sheet.....AND WE NEVER PEEKED! I became the designated gift wrapper, and mom would even box my presents and I'd wrap them myself.
Thanks for the flash-back!
It looks like I'll be able to sign the papers on my mortgage re-finance tomorrow! :cool1:
See you all on Sunday.

Michelle,
We are so happy to hear that Angelina's problems seem to have diminished. We hope that Vito is doing okay now, too. Like I said, asthma is very scary. You are so sweet to send your well wishes to us when your issues are so powerful. I can't wait to give you and your family a big hug, too. Life is hard, true? But thankfully there are little things along the way that make it all worthwhile. We're looking forward to seeing you Sunday!

Hello all
I just wanted to say our trip offically started tonight... We were taken out to dinner by Angelinas wish coordinator. She gave Angelina a bunch of "Disney" gifts already. Had a bunch of balloons and a huge picture of Minnie at the table. She also made it even more special by inviting our neighbor who introduced us to Make-A-Wish. Anyway I have our Docs and they surprised us, A limo will be picking us up!! My son is so excited.
Marybeth Life is definetly harder then I every could have imagined!
DisznyGram I can't beleve it is already hear. Just think when we get back the holiday rush is fast aproaching...

I just washed my 16 year old, 4 1/2 pound Yorkie Poo, Gizmo, to get him clean before taking him to the vet for boarding. I don't want to show up with a stinky pup and he did stink. He's old, cranky, pretty much blind and deaf, but he is my baby. No one in my family wants to watch Gizmo since he tends to do his "business" where ever he is when he needs to. :dog2:
Giving him a bath...I prepare first by setting up a playpen with four locking gates and line the bottom with towels. I get out his shampoo, another towel and plug in my blow dryer. I have a small sprayer on a hose that I screw onto the faucet in my laundry room stationary tub. It's deep and he can't escape from it. He has a small doggy door to the outside so I have to close it or he will sense I'm up to no good and escape into the yard.
I get Gizmo backed up into a corner and drape the towel around him to pick him up. He is no longer happy about being picked up and wants to bite the hand that feeds him. :earseek:
After I put him in the tub, he starts his pitiful dog act, trying to climb out. I get him wet all over, reducing a fluffy black dog to something skinny and sad looking. He gets shampooed all over and rinsed off. I pick him up with a towel and put him in the playpen. Gizmo tries to find a way out while I aim the blow dryer at him. He can't get away from the warm air. He is a very happy dog when I release him and seems to like being clean again. :)

That's a funny story, DizeyGram! I hope Gizmo does well at the vet this week. I just took our puppy, Bailey, to my mom's house. She'll stay with them for the week. Boy, that's as hard as leaving a kid at home. We've only had her about 3 1/2 months, but I am very attached. And she's attached to me too. I hope she does okay. She loves my mom and dad, so she should do well. I am really going to miss her, though.
I tried to get my Southwest boarding passes online this morning, but it wouldn't let me. We'll just have to check in at the terminal tomorrow. I called them, but they said for some reason, the program wouldn't let me do it. Bummer! I was hoping to get an "a" boarding pass, so we could be closer to the front of the plane. As long as we get to sit together, we'll be okay.
Everything's ready to go!!!
See you all on the Wonder!!!!!!
Happy travelling to everyone!

Hi Jackie, our plane leaves at 2:05 pm tomorrow and I was able to download all 7 of our boarding passes today at 2:05. We are all in the A section. My son and family should be able to get on even earlier since my granddaughter will be three. She turns four the next day, on the cruise.
I had my boarding passes lined up on my computer and nearly had a panic attack because my printer wouldn't start printing them. I finally found a spot where I could ask my computer to find the printer, and it did! Don't know why it couldn't find it at first, it's sitting right next to the monitor. (Dumb blonde joke. :teeth: )

::yes:: Got my boarding pass printed this morning too! I'm just cleaning up my desk and getting ready to head out early....I AM going to sign my refinance papers this afternoon and have a LONG drive to get there, so I got the OK to split at 2PM. YEAH FOR MY PALS AT WORK!
My tummy is in nots......the travel/excitement kind. I'm having birthday dinner tonight at Claim Jumper with sis and brother-in-law...then it's about three hours of packing. I KNOW, I've been pulling stuff together for weeks, and the clothes portion should go fast. I know I'll just be sitting on my bed, re-thinking, small purse, back pack, large Disney tote????? Hope there's room to throw in my Tigger sweatshirt...in case I want a midnight stroll on the deck.
Golly, some of us are already there, you know....those lucky dogs.
See you all on Sunday!

My family and I are back. We ended the cruise with two nights in Disney World so we didn't arrive back until today. It was a WONDERFUL cruise. How about we all move our conversations over to the Cruise Reports forum now. I'm exhausted from lack of sleep but will start the new thread, adding to it as you all report and I get rested enough to continue. :flower:
Loved meeting those of you I did, in spite of waiting at the wrong spot the first day. :guilty:
