OK, could some of you fellow WISHers please make me feel like I am not the only hormonally challenged woman on earth? Does anyone else gain 4-5 lbs of water the week before that TOM? I am really bummed out because I have been doing the best I've ever done (no snacking, decent portion sizes, working out consistently) and I have just packed on 4 lbs in the past 4 days. ARGH!!!!!! I talked to my Dr about it and she was so helpful - she said "Just wait, it gets worse as you get older." Thanks a lot, Doc!!!

I am thinking of taking some water pills until TOM makes the water go away, has anyone done this? Normally I don't worry about it but I am the heaviest I've ever been and these extra water lbs are making even my biggest clothes feel tight :guilty:

Welcome to the club! Only I can pack on 8 - 10 lbs in just a couple of days- as many as 6 overnight. I'm almost 45, and it has gotten worse, but I've always been bad and DD13 is in the 4- 6 lb range each month.

UGH!!

I can put on 3-5 as well. It really stinks to be a woman and be overweight trying to get weight off. That is one thing that is really going to depress me next week as mine approaches as I've been really working hard as well.

Here's an idea - since I appear to be the peeing queen try this - drink 32 ounces within 30 minutes - that'll make you go and get rid of some of that water.... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

goldcupmom, that is pretty bad! Great, you mean my poor DD6 might be in the same boat when she gets old enough? Poor thing... Well, let's see, I guess I only have about 20 MORE YEARS to deal with it - YIKES!

Cruise, I bet I could drink 32 oz of water in 30 minutes and it would just soak into my bones at this point! Hee hee, I guess we have to keep a sense of humor about it or we will all go insane, right?

THANK YOU for this thread!! I was just thinking the same thing this morning! How is the world did I gain weight OVERNIGHT?? I find that I gain about 1 1/2 or 2 weeks before TOM. Is that the way it is for anyone else? What we women go through! Men just don't appreciate us enough!

OH yeah big time here. I weighed in this week down 8 lbs from last. :earseek: MOstly due to my TOM starting any day now. I'm actually light right now so should be full on tomorrow.

I found that when I was drinking 64 ounces of water a day that I didn't flucuate much at all. A trick I learned while going to Weight Watchers meetings. :) Give it a try. Believe it or not drinking more water will help. Water pills too I guess.

OH, I gain around 5-8 pounds a week before and it says on until day four.
Then it is like I have taken a diuretic. I just have to go to the bathroom every two hours.

It is sooo bizzare. I guess it is the progesterone and estrogen elevations.

I can easily gain 7 pounds during TOM. It is such a drag because it makes me feel as if I am gaining instead of losing. The only plus point is when it goes I actually feel as though I have lost more than I have.

Lord have mercy it's awful. Plus my tummy sticks out like I'm pregnant. At least 3-5 pounds and by the time TOM actually gets here it's almost a relief.

I know the feeling, I look like I am about ready to deliver!!! I found that since I've started exercising at it's not as bad as before though.

I've gained as much as 12 pounds overnight. It's uncomfortable but it goes away. I just avoid the scales when I know I'm holding fluid. Too depressing otherwise.

Believe it or not drinking more water will help. :drinking:

I've heard the same thing. Drinking water helps you eliminate water (and fat too!).

I've been on South Beach for about 8 days now and I'm just about at TOM and cutting out a lot of the sugar has helped. I'm not nearly has shall we say bloated as I usually am. Exercise helps a lot too.

It doesn't take TOM for me to gain water weight. I just have fluid retention issues  For example I weighed myself on Sat, the scale showed that I had lost 3 pounds. I weighed myself this morning and the scale shows that I have lost 1 pound! I have problems with my legs and ankles swelling up. I have to say thought, now that I have been doing WW's for a few weeks it isn't nearly as bad! :)

me too!!

I found that every fourth week at WW I usually have a gain no matter how great I have been all week simply becasue of water retention! It's awful!

I've always retained a ton a water. I could easily jump 10 pounds overnight. I read recently that if women who easily retain water take calcium supplements, it can dramatically help the situation. I started taking two calcium supplements a day, one in the morning and one in the evening (you're supposed to get something like 1500mg a day). It's made a huge difference. I can tell when I haven't been taking them. I immediately start retaining water. So maybe this could help some of you too. In fact, I am going to take one right now!
