Hi all,

I have been surfing some other boards and noticed a neat idea. They have an area for those of us starting at much higher weights than others so there is a place to discuss how it is going when the journey could be longer and there are different issues. I think we all know we face challenges at any weight level when we are overweight but the issues one faces when they need to lose 150, 200, 300lbs are definitely different. (Not better or worse per se, just different. I don't want anyone to feel their experiences are invalidated by this idea.) The thread would be of course open to everyone but the discussion within would focus on support and the challenges of us WISHers that have a starting weight of over 300lbs (Or even those of us who would consider weighing in the 300s a great accomplishment from where we have started, speaking for myself! hehe).

Any thoughts?
Have a great night!

I think it's a great idea!

There is a really big difference between needing to lose 40-50 pounds and needing to lose 200! It's a longer journey with different challenges and different needs, and I'm not sure most folks totally understand (which is a good thing, I suppose).

I'm in!!!

How about a sub-350 club, I'm still close enough to 400 that 350 will be a great milestone for me.

As someone who started out in the club (375 at my heaviest), I think this is a good idea. People with a lot of weight to lose definately have different experiences. Early on, it was not uncommon for me to earn 5 or more lbs a week. Now, 1 lb is great. I crossed under the 300lbs mark on January 17 of this year. I had lost 75 lbs in 5 months. My weight loss though has slowed down since then. In the 7 months that followed, I have lost 30 lbs. I still have almost 50lbs to go to get to my goal. Right now, I'm holding pretty steady about around 270 lbs. I'm in a bit of a stall that I can't seem to break. Whenevery I get down to about 268, I jump back up to 271 again.
