What adhesive to use on ribbon?

What adhesive should I use for ribbon? Tape runner, glue dots? Also, what about the sheer ribbon? I am afraid it will get goopy or show through. Thanks!

Hey Soccer Princess,
This is going to sound so lame but it's the truth....when I use ribbon in my L/O, I make sure I have a little hanging over each side and then use just regular Scotch tape on the back of my card stock. The pictures are put on top of the ribbon and that helps hold it down. Of course I've only done this 2 or 3 times but it's worked so far. Someone else probably has a better suggestion. I haven't used ribbon in the middle of my page so I don't know what to suggest for those situations. I'm sure you're get some good replies that will help both of us!

I do the same thing TN traveler :teeth:
sometimes I use glue dots if I need it to stick a certain way near the center or something...
I use a LOT of the shear stuff and glue dots work well for me
also double sided stiky tape - good luck finding what works for you - have fun!

I use Zips (by therm o web) or Glue Lines (Same company that make Glue Dots brand) They are long thin skiny lines of adhesive, just cut off what you need. Never tried it with sheer ribbon, but they are pretty thin and transparent, so it might work. I've also done the 'taping down in the back' like PattyT and TN Traveler :) You could also put eyelets on either end, put the ribbon thru and tie a knot on the other side.

I really like glue lines much better than zips (therm o web) -- used both just today putting together a quilted layout. Zips are super sticky and harder to work with I thought. I'd say that if what you're using them for is lightweight, then go with glue lines, otherwise, if it's something heavier (metal embellishments?) then use zips.

I like using the little X xyron...works real well for most ribbons!

I also run mine through my little Xyron. If you rub it really hard at the edges, you don't end up with too much "leftover" stickiness. :)

I use a variety of ways to hold down the ribbon - the photo stickers, glue dots, eyelets. I also have the clear CM photo stickers which work well, too. Have fun experimenting!
