Sort of off the subject, but our active duty Air Force son stayed at Shades of Green at WDW this past year. What a wonderful place it is and at a great price, too. Yes, they do deserve it and I am soooo glad to see it.

yes it is, and WDW currently has discounts at the other resorts too for 30% off up to 3 nights and 40% for 7 nights for military !! that is incredible!! until 10/04... too bad I live in Ohio...I'd be there all the time!!

I didn't see anything that said it included retired military. Hard to believe we are retired military, and only in our 40's. Where did you see it included retired military?? I would love to be able to get a discount.

We just got back from Shades of Green, what a awesome resort.

they said that it included retired when I called and asked. Yes my bf is 43 and retiring next year :) I wanted to make sure so when he does retire we'll know how and if our options change...

I have stayed in SOG, as my sister and her husband are both DOD employees and we travelled with them. Wonderful experience, and unfortunately missed a 2nd trip last year when one of sister's children got sick on the eve of another joint trip (and my healthy DS and DW and I could not check in to SOG w/o my DOD sister, so we were SOL and the trip was DOA but I was not too PO'd and went ahead and booked the Wonder for this past January to make up for it).

SOG is awesome and we had a chance to tour it last December. Our Air Force son is stationed at Elmendorf AFB, Anchorage and he always insisted he was going to turn 21 at WDW. Sure enough, we met up with he and his wife for the week. What I especially like was the cheap beer at the bar. they had a very large room with a view of the Castle. I would recommend it to anyone who is eligible for it.

I noticed these disounts on Wednesday.

Dreams Unlimited Travel was great in getting me the military disount rate for our already paid off cruise. Got me a $375 credit on top of what was already a great rate.

I sure appreciate travel agents that work for you like this. :)

It's GREAT that they have this kind of offer for the Active duty. But lets not forget many of our retired military also fought a war of the're own. Wish they could see that!! :confused3 And offer the retiree's the same benfit.

I did call Disney directly but assumed both would be ok since they posted the rates and dates on theirs... how do they know if you're retired? she just said you have to show your id...I don't think they list if you're retired or not do they? Also, I called Disney earlier today wanting to book for Jan. and she said they may offer the rates again in Jan. :)??? that would be too cool!!

I'm not sure how they would know that you're retired? but sorry!! several places are supporting us military families. like you can go to either Sesame place, busch gardens, or sea world orlando for one day FREE and several other places are doing wonderful things!! it is wonderful, they do so much obviously!

No worries LindakMonty, it's like a lottery ticket, I knew this was wrong, bit I called ************* with the glimmer of hope. But the "ticket" is not a winner for retirees, big deal, sometimes even the possibility of a win can be fun. Truthfully, our kids on Active duty have few enough perks for the job they have signed up to do! Godspeed to our Men & Women in uniform! :love1: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :cheer2: :cheer2:
