when can I book for 1/2007

I am planning a surprise 50th birthday for my husband. When can I book for Jan. 2007? I noticed 2006 prices came out in May. Do I have to wait til next year May?

I beleive you can book now, but the prices are subject to change/increase. They will quote you '06 prices for the same time frame.

Packages for 2007 will not be out until summer of 2006. Room only reservations can be booked 499 days in advance.

Is this a new policy? When we booked a trip for 2002 we needed several deluxe rooms at the Wilderness lodge. When I called and asked how far in advance I could book them they told me years (like maybe 10).

Yes, I just checked and found out it must also be 499 days from the last day of your ressie, not the first.
I tried today for Dec 1 to 11, 2006 and can't book it for 10 more days!
