Who does it and how does it work--I'm thinking of switching the workout for after the kids go to bed (8ish). I just don't think I can get back in the groove of getting up before they do and even when I do, they wake up and join me by the treadmill. It is really annoying.

I tend to stay up late anyway--so I'm wondering how much time do I need after a run to "settle down" before trying to go to sleep.

I would eat dinner about 6pm....and this would actually be incentive to eat responsibily at dinner..always seem to do well through the day...then at dinner resort to unnecessary eating and such.

Lisa -- I LOVE working out at night, though I often wish I could get out in the morning just because we are so busy so many evenings. Frankly, I find I sleep just fine after working out. There is a real sense of satisfaction in ending the day that way, too. And I definitely do not overeat if I haven't worked out yet, so the only trick is to NOT eat after working out when you feel like "gee, I burned off x calories, so I can eat a few more".

Let us know how it works out for you. Good luck!

I work out in the evenings - I just can't get up early enough to do it in the mornings! My husband and I walk on a walking/biking trail near our house. We normally go after work anytime between 5:30 and 6:30 and we normally go for an hour. We eat when we get home. I can't eat beforehand because I get too comfortable and then it is harder to motivate myself to get out the door! I have found that I am sleeping better since we started.

Good Luck!

My DH and I are also walking at night. We eat around 6 and then walk at 9. We live right across the street from our local track. We both are also sleeping better and feeling better in the mornings.

I exercise at night too ... I do my workout when I get home from the office. And we eat dinner after that. I'm NOT a morning person at all, and I was totally stressing myself out with my inability to get up and exercise in the morning. For some odd reason, I also find that I eat a better dinner if I eat right after a workout :confused3 It also helps to curb my "snacking". Good Luck!

I'll have to be doing mine at night too. But will try to get additional thrown in exercise of swimming during the morning hours before it gets too hot or after dinner. I like swimming in evening when you don't have to worry about sunscreen so much.
