DD3 has a little rash today on her tummy and hips. Just little poofy bumps that are itchy and thats the only place. I'm trying to think if we did anything different, but I can't think of anything. She had a bath last night, same soap and shampoo, but new little care bear toy with her (but other DD was in bath too, and no rash). Dinner last night, nothing new, chicken and rice. She put new shorts on after her bath, but I had washed them. The only thing I can think of is they were washed right after the dogs laundry (blankets, towels, etc from dog). Could she possibly be allergic? I'm allergic to dogs, and DD actually has never touched dogs/cats before (long story). Or could it be just some other allergies? Any ideas? I gave her some benedryl and lotion and will call dr. if it spreads or gets worse, but I thought maybe I'd get some ideas here. Thanks!

Could be a viral rash, especially if she's had a fever lately. Did you use sunscreen on her (probably not that since it's on her her hips)? Last summer my son got a nice rash from some spray sunscreen. He remembers and reminds me not to use it on him when I get it out for myself.

benedryl would be my choice, then keep an eye on it, see if it improves or not, then call doc.
Depends on what the rash looks like. Some things my kids have had over the years - Fifths Disease, roseola, poison ivy, mulloscum contagiousum (that was weird - DD#3 had that, and "the bumps" as we called it, lasted for about 6 months!)
May want to check with your doctor's office, maybe talk to a nurse and describe the look of the rash.
Good luck! :sunny:

Sorry, forgot to add...she hasn't been sick at all lately...not for at least 2 months...sleeping good, eating good, no fever. Went to a festival over the weekend, no pools, no sunscreen.

Is she still in a diaper? If so, it could be just a combo of the heat and being in a wet diaper for a while. When she was in diapers my DD would sometimes have a little rash in the morning when I'd change her. I'd just put some diaper rash cream on it and it would go away.

CEDmom - nope....shes potty trained. It has been hot here, but no more than the past few weeks.
Tigger&Belle - was the sunscreen banana boat? DD did get that last year as well, so we switched to Coppertone this year, but hasn't had any on recently.

Is it red dots at all kind of like prickly heat rash? Or is it more just welts? If its the welts I'd say it could possibly be related to the pet hair and dander, not sure. Both my kids and self are allergic to pet dander and break out and itch, etc. The Benadryl usually helps with theirs. Hope she feels better!

Could it be chigger bites?
Hope it is nothing and goes away soon. :)

I would imagine it's prickly heat, although with the itching it might be an allergy of some sort. Try Benadryl and see if that helps. As long as the bumps are pink and raised and will blanch when pressed then it's probably nothing serious. If it's still there in a couple of days you probably want the pedi to check it out. Hope she is better soon!
