I've decided I need to challenge myself to stay completely on my Weight Watchers plan and thought the best way to do that is to make a commitment here. :goodvibes

I don't think there is a thread like this right now, is there? If so, just help me to find it and all the info will go on that thread instead.

So, does anyone want to join me? I know our very own Jen (TigerCheer) has been challenging herself and has been doing great with it, so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon.

If you are interested, just post here, giving me your name, your start date, and your number of days cheat free so far out of 100. I will update periodically to add challengers and progress. Regardless of what "plan" you are following to get healthy, we are all in this together. And, if you "cheat" one day, no problem, just start over the next day, or add some exercise :cool1: or  or :Pinkbounc or :cheer2: to make up for the extra calories in which you indulged.

I'll do my best to keep a list and keep it updated. Feel free to send me a PM if you need me to change your info and I haven't gotten to it quickly enough!

Good luck, everyone!

---------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE 8/5/05 -- figured we need some color changes to show significant progress, as reported by our challengers:
10% will be dark red
25% will be orange
50% will be magenta
75% will be purple
and the home stretch -- anything at or beyond 90% will be our favorite lime green to remind us to keep going!
When we reach 100%, RED will be the color, though we should be reminded that it does not mean to STOP the great momentum!
A SPECIAL COLOR FOR CATHERINE WHO IS LEADING US TO SUCCESS!!! THANKS, SWEETIE!

*****So, I see that not everyone has acquired their clippie.
In case you need it, here it is:

{IMG]http://portfolio.iu.edu/jjalexan/cheatfree.jpg[/IMG}

You will just have to go to User CP, click on edit signature, copy the link into your signature, and replace the { and } with [ and ].

Thanks again, swimming-Jen, for making the clippie for us!

REMINDER -- I won't automatically update your number every day unless you post on this thread and tell me how many days cheat-free you are. Too much room for mistakes if I do the math for everyone every day without some help from our challengers! :flower:

Thanks keenercam for starting this challenge! :goodvibes I've been challenging myself, and have so far gone 42/100 days :teeth: I started on the 31st May.

Thanks! :flower:

Wow, 100 days is a LONG time without cheesecake or ice cream :) Actually, I am going to schedule myself an occasional treat, so my cheat free will mean no UNPLANNED snacking. Count me in! I already did an awesome job yesterday - lovinAZ (started 7/11/05) -- 1/100

Catherine, congrats on the 42 days!!

keenercam
07-12-2005, 01:19 PM
WHEW, Thank you so much Catherine and lovinaz! I was so worried that I would be in this alone! :) I will update my post and add you both to it.

Catherine -- how awesome that you have already done 42 days! I did a 100 day challenge earlier this year, and I just realized today, that my efforts have been less productive since that challenge ended, and I really think it is because of not having that motivation!

lovinaz -- "no unplanned snacking" is a very challenging and noble objective. Fortunately, there are all sorts of ways to strategize so that a treat is not a cheat! Good luck!

Lesli54
07-12-2005, 01:53 PM
Count me in. I think I will also go for the no "unplanned snacking" and no potato chips. It's the off plan items that have been getting me lately. So this should help me stick to my plan better and when I really want something special AND worth it, I will plan for it.

Today is 1/100 for me. Can we get a clippie? I just looooooovvvvvvvve clippies. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Okay, Lesli54 and Honeibee! Welcome to the challenge! I will put today as your start date with 0/100 until your day is ended.

Lesli -- I would LOVE a clippie! Unfortunately, I am clippie-clueless! ;) NO idea how to make one.

Maybe someone will volunteer to help us (hint, hint!)

Count me in. I am actually just over 100 days away from my WDW/Cruise vacation so this is perfect. However, I had a freezie yesterday so this will be day 1/100.

Thanks for starting this.

Hello all! I just finished mine up: 100 days without McDonalds (the only fast food place in town...we were supposed to get an Arby's but I don't know now), juice and chips/candies. It was very hard because I babysit and the littlies would offer me chips...and Kool-Aid and candies "it's just one!" But staying that way only made me stronger. I didn't die...felt like it sometimes because my family would bring home Mcy D's...I didn't faint...I survived the 100 Day Challenge.

I might do it again too...I like the no unplanned snacking idea. So please sign me up! 100 days of no unplanned snacking (my idea: snack after school...one after activities. Weekends: one between breakfast and lunch, between lunch and dinner. One splurge a day!)

Thanks Cam! I can be here for support...or anything else!

Thanks, Jen, for joining us! You may have to come up with a cheer for us when our motivation starts flagging, oh, around day 73, I'd think. :) So, I'll put you down as starting today, okay? It will say (started 7/12/05) 0/100 until we get through today, which we all know we can! ;)

Hey, any idea where we could get a clippie?

TigerCheer2009
07-12-2005, 03:27 PM
Awesome! Thanks! Will do.

Plutosmyfav and Julia & Nicks Mom can make clippies...ask them. I have no idea.

Swimming-Jen! Thanks for our wonderful clippie!

i guess give me credit for 15 days, i've been without soda since may 19th, but only about 1 month with no beef...ok give me 15 days, and i probably deserve more than that, but we'll make it hard on me :teeth: lol

07-12-2005, 04:13 PM
Hmmmm...I'd like to join you all for the next 69 days (75 total no cheat days...). I'd go for the whole 100, but we're taking DS to WDW for his birthday on 9/20 and although I've dieted while there twice, I'd rather plan for it and indulge...

But count me in for a 75 day challenge!

Jenn.

Hi, storygirl (Jenn with 2 "N"s, like my beautiful DDalmost 17)! Hopefully, I got your date right. Check out post #1 and let me know if it needs to be corrected, okay? BTW, congrats on being 6 days cheat free so far, but I think that if you "plan for it" at WDW, that counts as not cheating, too, and just think of all the walking you will be doing!

I'm up for a 100 day challenge starting today, July 12, 2005.

My goals are to stay OP with only 1 bite/mini-splurgey (like 1 Hershey's kiss) each day and to only have one splurgey meal each week. I know it doesn't sound like much but it will be a challenge for me. The candy bowl at work calls my name every time I pass it and most of the time I am able to resist. Having this challenge to answer to will help me with the 5% of the time that it is hard to say no.

Thanks for starting this Cam!

keenercam
07-12-2005, 07:50 PM

Have a great night!

I made it thru day 1. I actually thought of you guys when I got home from work. That's usually a difficult time for me, cause by then it's been a LONG time since lunch. But I did good. I didn't have a thing!

And the most amazing this is...I actually got back on the treadmill. :cool1: OK it was only for 15 minutes but the point is I DID it. I haven't been on the treadmill in months! :cheer2:

Thanks CAM SOOOO much for doing this!

Yeah, how do we check in every day??

07-13-2005, 10:03 AM
Good morning, everyone! Did you all stay cheat-free yesterday? Hockeychic -- good job! I will update your number and mine.

Waiting for everyone else to check in as frequently or as infrequently as you'd like your information updated. :)

Hey, Dona! Feel free to join us for as many days as you like. It could be a 35 day challenge for you, or you could plan your cheats for during your vacation, with all that walking making up for the extra calories. :cool1:

We are doing it! :cheer2:

keenercam

Honeibee -- You and I must have been posting at the same time. CONGRATULATIONS! Not just on making it through a cheat free day, but for incorporating exercise in your day and for getting through a difficult time. You must feel so proud of yourself!

I will update your number as well. Isn't accountability GREAT?!?!?!?! Now I HAVE to stay on track!

BTW, in case anyone is interested, thanks solely to this challenge and the support I have found here, for the first time in forever I stayed significantly below my WW points yesterday and didn't use any of the activity points I earned for my one hour 3.45 mile walk. YIPPEE!! And I stayed so on target at Olive Garden -- minestrone soup, salad w/low fat dressing, whole wheat linguine w/arrabiata sauce and NO breadsticks. Only had a tiny piece of my son's birthday cake and scraped off the icing. Thank you everyone for helping me with this. You have NO IDEA how much it means to me! :)

lovinaz
07-13-2005, 10:37 AM
Great job everyone! Keenercam, congrats on not having any breadsticks at OG! I LOVE those things! Fortunately we don't go there very often...

I made it through yesterday (just kept myself busy and out of the kitchen!) so I am now 2/100. Yippee!!! Now, the weekend is coming up, THAT will be a challenge! But I totally agree - I am almost scared to put anything in my mouth because I don't want to have to 'fess up! :rotfl: Keep up the good work everyone!

Honeibee
07-13-2005, 10:46 AM
:earseek: WOW! You were so good at OG! What willpower! You go girl! :cheer2:

Yes, accountability seems to be the key for me.

Hey everyone, don't forget to drink water! It is good for you in so many ways! :teeth:

keenercam
07-13-2005, 10:48 AM
YEAH, lovinaz! Congrats! Yes, having "told" everyone in my journal yesterday that I wasn't going to eat breadsticks, I was determined not to have to 'fess up (as you so sweetly put it), and then try to justify it. The funny thing is, at the end of the day, I had enough points left over that I could have had one, easily, but I didn't even regret having passed it up, knowing you'd all be proud of me! :)

Honeibee
07-13-2005, 01:58 PM
I made the mistake of going to the cafeteria at work today. I did OK, until I saw the frozen yogurt machine...

:guilty:

keenercam
07-13-2005, 02:21 PM
Okay, honeibee, you know what that means, right? If you don't "have" the calories for your treat, you'll just have to take a walk or get on your treadmill to make up for it! :) Remember, now, repeat after me . . . "a treat is not a cheat"! This is real life. We just have to pay for what we want, right?

07-13-2005, 02:31 PM
Cam, thank you so much for starting this challenge. :flower: I think is what I need to get back on track.

If I can I would like my start date to be from yesterday, since I actually stayed on plan!! So today would be 2/100.

Good luck everyone!!! You will do great!! :cheer2:

07-13-2005, 02:50 PM
Extra treadmill time tonight. Maybe two episodes of the Golden Girls worth! :goodvibes

keenercam
07-13-2005, 02:57 PM
clr1194 -- welcome to our party! I will put you down with a start date of 7/12 and 1/100 so far for having come through yesterday so successfully! YIPPEE!!! Just post as frequently as you'd like, giving me an update on whether your number can be bumped up for another cheat free day or two or three!

Honeibee -- No better way to treadmill than to spend the time enjoying some tv and the time goes by so much faster that way, right? BTW, I saw WICKED on Broadway last Wednesday and Rue McClanahan played Madame Morrible, the nasty headmistress at Shiz University. She was absolutely fabulous in the part! (and Ben Vereen was a "wonderful" Wizard of Oz!)

I think that I will join in on this challange. This is a little different for me since I am not on WW but my own plan. My biggest cheat is that I don't always exercise like I should. Maybe being on this challange for 100 days would help me keep on track so that it becomes a very important part of my life. This place gives me so much inspiration and keeps me going. Thank you everyone.

I did well yesterday. I didn't have any "bites" that I didn't record. Speaking of that, I only consider "bites" to be things that I don't record like a couple of bites of cake or a corner of a brownie.

My goal is to only take 1 un-recorded bite each day. If others do occur, I challenge myself to record them and pay the points.

Today is so far, so good. Good luck all!

Cam - wow! I am beyond impressed about skipping the frosting on the birthday cake! There is no food on this earth quite like cake...

pause for fond memories of freshly baked love, covered in buttercream frosting...

Anyway, you can add a good diet/exercise day to my countdown. (Had an ED slip, but I'm not making that part of the challenge :guilty: ) So here's to more successful days for all of us!!

I'm late but I'd like to join. I need to keep On Plan with WW. I just got palm program hooked up and working so I can journal on it. :cheer2:

I'll have to read what the cheat free includes. I'm new to these challenges but its something I totally need.

I know one thing I'd like on there is NO soda because I've been gaining since we've been staying at my moms since she buys so much soda.

Do we just make up our goals for the cheat free or what?

Zoesmama03

TPCShauna -- Good job, kiddo! Minimizing those "bites" to something you can manage is such a huge real-life accomplishment. Just think about it -- totally depriving ourselves of everything I think sets us up for failure in the real world. Strategizing ahead of time on how to handle certain situations/foods is what will make this work for all of us.

TigerCheer2009 -- Good morning, Jen! You must be so proud of yourself, finishing 100 days and jumping right into another 100 day challenge. Thank you for inspiring us! Just think about how awesome your cheerleading outfit is going to look on you this fall! :cheer2:

Hi, storygirl! Awesome going! I know you have some incredible real-life struggles too, that have always driven me to eat (work pressures, sick child, etc., etc.) and I know you are struggling in another way, but I am so glad you are here! :grouphug:

Melissa -- Hi, sweetie! It is sooo nice to "see" you again! :flower: The cheat-free challenge is whatever you want it to be. For me, it is sticking to my WW points, not using my flexpoints (except for special occasions like WDW in August). Others here are setting their goals based on what they feel is "cheating", whether that be eating too much or eating fast food, etc.

So, jump on board -- I will put today as your start date and until tomorrow, it will say 0/100. Then, just pop in here for encouragement and to report your progress and to tell me how many days you have been cheat free so that we can up your number

As for what happens if you "cheat" -- My favorite saying is "a treat is not a cheat". Sometimes the best way to honestly call your day cheat free after having an ice cream sundae or something like that is either to have eaten a whole lot less of everything else during the day or to have done some significant make-up-the-calories exercise. It is totally up to you. In the past, if I did a challenge and "messed up", I started over again. But that is just me -- I wanted to see if I could go 100 days in a row without cheating and just the threat of having to start all over again was enough to keep me on the straight and narrow. :rotfl: That was the "challenge". We all have to figure out what motivates us.

minniespal -- Hi and welcome! Are you starting today? Or do you get "credit" for yesterday or two days or three? :) We are so glad to see our numbers growing, in more ways than one! And in time, we will all have a bunch of numbers decreasing in ways that will make us so much healthier for the long run! So, here's some pixie dust for you, to wish you a happy journey with all of us. :wizard:

Hi, catherine! I love to hear you say "brilliant" -- it reminds me so much of my dear sweet friend who now lives in Sydney, Australia. :cloud9: So, thank you so much for bringing a smile to my face! And congratulations on getting to 44/100! You are almost half-way there!! :cheer2: Keep up the great work -- you are a great role model and we are all right behind you!

hey, hockeychic! Great going, kiddo! :cool1: Keep up the awesome work!

Okay, I am going to go update numbers. Everyone should check them sometime today and let me know if they are accurate through 7/13. (I might not be able to update this frequently throughout this challenge, but I will do my best! :earsgirl:

Count me in starting today 7/14. I'm going to stay OP WW. Reserving Flex points for things like my Bday and DH Bday. Somehow I CAN do this!!

Hi, Julie! Welcome! You KNOW how much I look to you for advice and encouragement, so it is so fabulous to have you here. I will add you to the list. Just check in with us once in a while so that I will know how to update your numbers.

BTW, the expression "reserving flex points" is so much more positive than "I won't use my flex points except . . ." -- I am going to think of it that way-- it's all in the attitude, right? :) I am really hoping that will kick start my progress. If not, DH may have to replace the bathroom window due to a scale-sized hole!

How we doin' this morning?? :flower:

I'm doing ok. Not great. Didn't get to exercise yesterday. Work all day, went to look at a condo last night, 9:00pm by the time we got home, then dinner, then to bed. Ugh.

But...today is a new day! :goodvibes

Yay! Another day cheat free for me! That makes 3/100.

Zoesmama, I am not on WW or anything, but I plan my meals and 2 snacks a day. Eating anything that is not "scheduled" for the day will count as a cheat for me, and I plan on starting my count over IF that happens (but I tell ya, having to post my progress every day has been a HUGE motivating factor to stick to the program!). I agree with keenercam, your cheat is whatever you define it to be. Good luck!

I made it through Day 2! Woo-hoo!

One question for you WW ladies. Aren't you supposed to eat your flex points? The plan says that you should eat them because you will lose weight faster than if you don't. Am I totally confused or did I read something wrong? :confused3

Good morning, everyone! Hey, I hope everyone was cheat free yesterday. I was. I had no choice. All I could think about was all of you here being so incredibly supportive of me and each of us, and it kept me on track!

So, yesterday, I was able to touch base with a lot of you by PM to ask whether I had numbers and dates correct, etc., but I'd love to put together an email list to drop notes when I have a chance. Also, I'd love to share recipes, etc., if anyone is interested.

I know we have the option of clicking on a user name and sending emails, etc., but I don't want to do that without everyone's permission. So, if you would be interested in having an email buddy (and 'swimming-Jen' can tell you I'm not THAT great at it, though my heart is in the right place), please click on my user name and send me either a PM or an email with your email address.

Thanks, guys!

Ooops! I meant to respond to Shauna's question!

One question for you WW ladies. Aren't you supposed to eat your flex points? The plan says that you should eat them because you will lose weight faster than if you don't. Am I totally confused or did I read something wrong? :confused3

Shauna -- my WW instructor always said to use flex points and at least 1/2 of my activity points. She said otherwise your body goes into starvation mode and doesn't drop pounds. I really don't know if that is true. But I do know that I have been within the same 2.5 pounds since about 5/31 and I was getting frustrated because I thought I was doing everything right. So, I just thought I'd try something a little different to try to shake things up a bit. I figured at least for a week I'd try it this way. I can tell you I am definitely seeing a change on the scale already, though it just may have been time for my body to give up a couple pounds.

I'd say that if you are seeing progress using flexpoints you should definitely use them -- that's what they are there for. :)

Just my $.02

OMGoodness! That could be why I'm stuck in a not-losing mode! Thanks, Cam. I could seriously kiss you right now. How many FP do you use a day? I'm thinking about 5, maybe more. And I eat most of my APS.

I'd love to be on the email/PM list...I wouldn't be perfect at it, but I sure as heck would try. I better go send you my email address...and check it too! lol!

But yesterday I barely escaped...stupid babysitting kiddos! (i intercepted your PM right here, Cam!) They were at their ultimate worst yesterday. I thought ahead and brought a package of 100-cal fruit snacks as these were the Temptors with the chips and the McDonalds...good thing! I saved myself from a day of happymouthiness.

Day 2=Success! Day 3=Let's make it one! And this by far is the hardest challenge I have taken on...I boredom-snack, I trouble-snack, I happy-snack, I hungry-snack, I snack snack snack-snack!

Thank you Cam and Co.!

TigerCheer2009 (Jen) -- I think you are doing so great in difficult summer situations. You must be really proud of yourself for strategizing ahead of time and planning how to get a treat in without a cheat. :cool1: You know you inspired me with your last 100 day challenge, so you have to continue to be a good role model here! ;)

As far as using your FPs, there are two schools of thought -- the first is to add the extra 5 points a day and use all 35 over the course of the week. The other school of thought is to preserve those 35 points for those times during the week where you need extra points, like when you go out to dinner or don't have points-friendly options available to you.

On Activity Points -- again, there are lots of theories. WW would say you have earned those points that particular day and you can use them all that day. For someone like me who gets all her activity in at night except on weekends, that would mean eating a lot of points at night after I have earned them. Other people use them all day with the expectation they will definitely earn them -- big risk that you might not earn those points and you will have a deficit or have to go into your flexpoints. I have also heard conjecture that you should count only a maximum of 4 APs a day, no matter how many you earn, and use only 2-4, even if you have earned 10. I use e-tools, and I can tell you that WW e-tools has let me use as many as 12 APs in one day when I earned them.

I think every human body is different and we all have to really try different things to see what works for us.

Of course, if anyone finds a foolproof method, please tell us! :teeth:

I try to save the flex points, but I usually don't use them...maybe I should go out to eat more ;) . I will be using them next week at Cedar Point! What FLEX-worthy treats should I splurge on?

Or maybe I could use 6 extra points three days out of the week and see what happens!

I think I will only count up to 4 AP's too...I earn more, but 4 is enough!

Thank you Cam!!!

And I will always be a good role model...anybody need inspiration? I'm OPEN! :cheer2: Go Challengers! We can do this...one day at a time! :cheer2: Can't weight to meet my email buddy!

Jen -- I have found a couple of really good "treats" that are usually available at amusement parks -- soft pretzels (3-4 pts); popcorn (4 pts) and frozen fruit bars (usually 2 pts, but depends on what kind). A lot of places now sell cut up fruit, too. I hope you find lots of fun stuff to enjoy!

BTW, my husband grew up in the Pittsburgh area and went to Cedar Point a couple of times. Small world, right?

Hi, clr1194! Great going on the 3 days cheat free! Now, tell us the truth. . . when is the last time you went 3 WHOLE DAYS completely cheat free? Or are you one of those people who are this committed and accomplished all the time? Doesn't it feel great?

I am really hoping everyone has an awesome, cheat-free weekend! Just think, by Monday morning, we will have finished 3 more days of our quest! How cool is that?!?!?!

:rotfl: Committed and accomplished, that cracks me up.

I honestly do not remember a cheat free day since the end of March. I gained 6.5 pounds on a short out of town trip and I haven't been on program since. :sad1: But that all changed 3 days ago!!!:teeth:

Hmmmm, maybe there is hope that I could turn into one of those committed and accomplished people.

clr1194, it is sure good to know I am not the only "vacation binger"!! Welcome to the challenge! I am now 4/100!!!!!!!!!! Yay!! Yesterday was the first day I actually struggled to stay cheat-free. My DS9 got in trouble at his day camp and that about put me through the roof. So obviously I must be a stress eater because that is all I wanted to do! But instead of cheating, I got online and caught up on some WISH journals - thanks everyone!! Now, if I can get through the weekend - and I probably will because I will be riddled with guilt if I don't - I will REALLY be celebrating!! Good luck everybody!

Yeah, Jenn!!! Good job, storygirl! You are nearly 10% of the way done! How cool!

clr1194 -- I am sooo happy for you that you are back on track so solidly. :cool1: You must feel so proud of yourself! I am truly impressed. Here's a little celebration for you  :cool1: :Pinkbounc :cheer2: . I am glad to think the challenge is helping you. I know there have been moments all week when I have considered every thing I have eaten in the context of this challenge :teeth: -- not a bad habit for me to get into! ;)

lovinaz -- I am right there with you on the stress eating. I do exactly the same thing. Unfortunately, since my job is almost always stressful (lawyers can be jerks!), I have had to physically remove from my desk drawer all non-points-friendly-in-huge-quantities foods. As you can imagine, there isn't much left! Let's see, I have some wholly unappetizing stale pretzels, a can of tuna fish, some light popcorn, crystal light to-go packs, and a "soup at hand." I used to have all sorts of goodies. Then I ate them. All of them. :rolleyes1 Well, most of them  Whatever was left ended up on the kitchen table, from which it magically disappeared in the ten minutes it took me to walk back to my office for my water bottle and walk the 100 steps or so back to the kitchen to fill it. :earseek:

Oh, wait, I just checked. I also have a can of green beans and a healthy harvest no sugar added strawberry flavored individual serving apple sauce. Anyone want a snack? :p Oh, yum. :sad2:

I will be around off and on this weekend and will update as frequently as everyone is willing to post their progress. Am very psyched that by Monday, our cheat-free days will have increased by 3!!!! Yep, that's it, guys, stay confident! :earsgirl:

keenercam
07-15-2005, 04:19 PM
Hey, TigerCheer2009! What is CP? Hey, you're a Virgo like my DDalmost17!

As far as whether you can "cheat" -- what do you consider cheating? If you are careful those days and you've been exercising, etc., do you think that "splurging" on those days really constitutes a "cheat"? Hmmmmmm . . . definitely a call you need to make for yourself.

For example, I know I am going to splurge for dinner on Sunday, so I am doing low-cal, low points breakfast and lunch and, of course, my WW leader would suggest I use my FPs, if necessary.

Sorry I can't give you an answer, chickie. Only you know in your heart if you have "cheated" or just "treated". ;)

keenercam
07-15-2005, 04:20 PM
. . . What is CP?

Okay, call me clueless. I actually know the answer -- Cedar Point! Yeah, me! My brain is not COMPLETELY FRIED!

TigerCheer2009
07-15-2005, 04:35 PM
Cam! Hi! I don't know actually. But I also didn't know there was a difference between splurging and cheating... Learning something new everyday, I guess... I just want to be able to have a piece of birthday cake and ice cream on my birthday...maybe at separate times. And I want to be able to enjoy Cedar Point.

To settle the score, I guess I can call it splurging because when I think of CHEAT, I think of something wrong, something I can't have. But I can have them...it's just that I have to adopt a new mentality. I will be SPLURGING...I can do this! I will be a good example...and I will NOT eat at Johnny Rockets! (because my cousins already eat there and say it's nothing special.)

Thank you, awesome Cam! My bday's August 28th and we will journal-party!!!

Tasha+Scott
07-15-2005, 04:44 PM
Okay I think I want to give this a shot, although I do think this is going to be my hardest challenge yet! Food--esp. sweets--is my biggest weakness! But maybe this will help motivate me to eat better. I am not on a particular plan or diet as I tend to do poorly on those. So for me cheat-free means no junk food! That means:
1. no sweets (unless they are sugar-free)
2. no soda (shouldn't be a problem since I prefer water and that's all I usually drink anyway!)
3. no fast food unless it is healthy
4. no overeating or binge eating

So start me for today 7/15 and wish me luck!

Song of Today at My House (other than We're Off to See The Wizard for Harry!!)

SuperChic(k)

GET UP! from their album Regeneration

"I'm not afraid to fall
It means I climbed up high
To fall is not to fail
You fail when you don't try

Not afraid to fall
I just might learn to fly
So I will spread these wings of mine

If I get up I might fall back down again
So let's get up come on
If I get up I might fall back down again
And we get up anyway!

If I get up I might fall back down again
So let's get up come on
If I get up I might fall back down again
But I might fall back down again..

But we'll just jump and see
Even if it's the 20th time
We'll just jump and see if we can fly

I'm not afraid to fall
And here I told you so
Don't want to rock the boat
But I just had to know

Just a greener side or can I touch the sky
But either way I will have tried

If I get up I might fall back down again
So let's get up come on
If I get up I might fall back down again
And we get up anyway!

If I get up I might fall back down again
So let's get up come on
If I get up I might fall back down again
But I might fall back down again..

I'm not afraid to fall
I've fallen many times
They laughed when I fell down
But I have dared to climb

Not afraid to fall
I know I'll fall again
But I will win this in the end

If I get up I might fall back down again
So let's get up come on
If I get up I might fall back down again
And we get up anyway!

If I get up I might fall back down again
So let's get up come on
If I get up I might fall back down again
But I might fall back down again..

...

If I get up I might fall back down again
So let's get up come on
If I get up I might fall back down again
And we get up anyway!

If I get up I might fall back down again
So let's get up come on
If I get up I might fall back down again
But I might fall back down again.."

Hi, Tasha + Scott -- Welcome! I LOVE your challenge choices. Very real life. I give you a lot of credit for starting on a Friday. Many a weaker challenger would have deferred to Monday. But, just think! Come Monday you should have 3 days cheat-free under your (teeny-bit-more-comfy) belt!

BTW -- That picture of Kylie is gorgeous! What a beautiful child! My baby turned 12 this week :(

Jen -- That is one of my favorite songs. It is on my workout list on my ipod, as well as my favorites now, and my top rated, etc. etc. I posted it a while ago for the others training for the 1/2 and full marathon and we all think of it often.

Have a great, cheat-free weekend everyone! Knowing I have to come here and tell you all how I did is going to keep me in line this weekend. After all, there are 13 more weekends on this challenge for me after this one. I SHOULD be able to get through the first, right? Then I'll just do that again -- 13 more times! :)

I made a 92. :cool1: I so wanted to go out for dinner to celebrate but I stuck by my plan and will be celebrating tomorrow with my planned splurge meal.

lovinaz - You are definitely not alone when it comes to vacation binging. It is like a free for all when I go on vacation, nothing is off limits. But I think we can beat this way of thinking. :goodvibes

Thanks Cam - I am proud of myself! I am in full cheat free mode. I went to Wal-Mart Super Center at lunch to pick up some pictures and had visions of cherry turnovers dancing in my head :teeth: Instead of the turnovers I grabbed a couple of banana's on the regular store side (stayed totally away from the food side) picked up my pictures and went back to work. :) All I kept thinking was "what would my cheat free buddies think?" and how can I get healthy eating cherry turnovers?

TigerCheer - You are my inspiration :worship: Already on your second 100 cheat free challenge!! You are doing such a great job. I love that you are already thinking ahead to your birthday. I can't think of anything that I have coming up.

Welcome Tasha+Scott! Your plan is definitely doable. You'll do great. Your baby is beautiful.

4Gator -- Welcome, Jeff! SOOOO glad to have you here. You have to 'fess up, though! We all KNOW you have been doing the cheat-free thing pretty fabulously even without us. So, do you want to start fresh on 7/15? Or claim your victory for however long you have already been cheat free. I seem to remember you did really well yesterday! :earboy2: Just let me know what to put for your start date. I'll put you on the list for now with today's date, but will "fix" that when you provide the correct information! ;)

clr1194 -- I think your alter ego is adorable! Congrats on avoiding the cherry turnovers. Bananas are an awesome alternative! Do you like yogurt? If so, you should try layering one of those new 'fit 'n fiber yogurts" with your banana. It tastes like a dessert! Oh, and a tiny bit of cool whip free doesn't hurt either!

Well, guys, I am ready to head off to bed and wanted to report first that I made it through the first social event of the weekend -- dinner at an Italian restaurant (pizza type place) and then bowling. Did salad w/no dressing and steamed broccoli, steamed green beans & grilled, marinated chicken. Delicious and all on plan. Saved points for a soft pretzel at the bowling alley but just drank water and even now feel too full, with points to spare. YEAH! Hoping tomorrow is as easily done. I am going to claim this cheat free day!

Hope everyone else also had a wonderful evening filled with time with great friends and family, and laughter, and yes, even with good food! :grouphug:

Could I come in, please?

I have been SOOOOO bad at challenges lately, and my body-inside and out- can tell. :guilty:

I'm especially bad at carb eating just before I go to bed....literally. I often have a box of crackers in my bedside table. :earseek: Thinking carefully about my lifestyle, I have come up with the following challenges to myself:

NO CARBS JUST BEFORE BED
NO UNPLANNED SNACKS
USING EXERCISE TO GET OVER THE HUMPS and most importantly of all...
CHECK INTO THIS THREAD REGULARLY

And, since I was a "good girl" yesterday, I will take my start date as July 15, with an end date of October 23-which I can remember since that is my youngest niece's birthday!

So, I am 1/100 today, looking to change that to 2 by the time that I'm asleep.

Since I HAVE been so lousy at my challenges, I won't put the clippie on just yet. I hope that that is okay, Cam.

where are you all getting the cheat free things for your signature?

I think my goals are:

1. walk the beach at least 5x a week.
2. no soda, only water.
3. don't use all my flex points....
4. live by "nothing tastes as good as thin feels"....thanks eeyoree...I have written it on sassy sticky notes everywhere!
5. no wine, maybe only a few bud lights during this 100 days...(football season)
6. enjoy my body no matter what it looks like now, it's the only one I've got and it will be a hot bod again soon!

Yeah, Catherine! -- you are inspiring us as you move so quickly and diligently to HALF WAY THERE!! Can't wait until next week when we can make a special note of that!

Hi, Debbie! WELCOME! You are going to LOVE it here. Everyone is so friendly and supportive. :) I know what you are saying about carbs, and I often find myself reaching for a couple of mini rice cakes or mini pretzels late at night. I no longer buy the fat free pringles or the mini pretzel goldfish because they are too tempting to me, especially right before bed. If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion? :) You HAVE to get rid of those crackers in your night table. That is just so unfair to yourself. Just think about it -- late at night at the end of a busy day you are weak and vulnerable and tired and you want something comforting, right? Well, you probably don't suck your thumb (anymore ;)) and you might not sleep with a blankie or your favorite teddy bear, right? So, you are putting a temptation right there, at hand, for easy access when you are most tired. NOT good! Actually, I keep altoids in my end table (and tums, but that is another story!)
Good luck!

Hi, Lillygator! Congratulations on getting through the hardest day -- the first one! The one where you say "no transition" "no sliding into this" "no flexibility" -- JUST DO IT!!! Cold turkey, huh? Bet you are proud of yourself! You should be! And, look, here it is after 3pm, so you are about half way through this day, too! I hope it is going well for you! (You too, Debbie!)

I survived the college open house, even forgoing the free ben & jerry's ice cream bar. Drank lots of water and had two taco belle soft tacos, no cheese, add lots of lettuce and hot sauce, for lunch. Stuck to mini pretzels while DH and DD ate ice cream. YEAH, me! DH said, "well, just think, you can tell all your friends on your challenge thread how you didn't eat the ice cream!" He's so cute! Since we are both training for the 1/2 marathon (he's running, I am walking), he is so compassionate and supportive of all these hugely significant but small changes.

So, this is about the half-way point of the weekend for me. Tomorrow will be the biggest challenge. WISH :) me luck! And I WISH you all a great day, too!

Hey everybody! HP party was a bust. Only cookies that looked yucky and ewwy smelling punch. I had lunch at Olive Garden and had:

2 bowls salad (2.5)
2 bread sticks (6)
Whole wheat pasta with meat sauce (10)
Berries and custard sauce (3)

Panera Bagel Blueberry (6) this AM...a fruit cup (2), 2 sample bites Passion Fruit bagel and 1/2 bite Cinna-crunch bagel (2). 4 FP used...3.5 flex. Not too bad, but NO SNACKS!

I am doing this, gang! And I will succeed! ::yes::

Welcome new challengers! I wish you well!

Hello Everyone!!!

I managed to have another cheat free day yesterday so that takes me to 4/100 and I am on the right track so far today.

Cam - Excellent job at dinner last night and NOT eating ice cream!! That would have been a tough one for me. I'm going to try your idea with the Fit' n' Fiber yogurt. I picked some up at the store this morning. I love yogurt.

WTG Catherine!! 46 days is awesome!!

Welcome Debbie and Jeff the more the merrier!!! It looks like you both have a great plan!!

lillygator - I haven't been doing well with challenges either. But I am determined this time. Attach that clippie to your signature and let us help you get through this challenge. :grouphug: You can do it, we can all do it!! :cheer2:

Jen - You are doing great!!

Everyone have a wonderful and cheat free weekend!!!

Thanks for the reassurance. I have an alterego too, d4dis! It's Purple Giraffe...I can't explain it.

Hi all!!! Put me down for 10/100 - yesterday went fine...I'm on target today to be 11/100 but since the night aint over I can't claim it yet!

I simply love this challenge! I am thinking about this in a whole new light...what is cheating? What is a cheat and what is a planned indulgence. It just takes out the shame and makes it so positive...! I am jonesing for a McDonalds ice cream cone (around 23 carbs, I believe) or maybe some sf Cold Stone. Normally I would consider that cheating, but I may just work it into the plan and enjoy it!

WW ladies - the whole AP concept intrigues me (the real one, not my DIS def, TCJen! :rotfl: )...is there somewhere I can go to read about how it works? I'm a low carber by health (PCOS) necessity and while I love it, I think I could add an activity/carb count barometer in to make me exercise more. Anyone who can direct me to more info? Much thanks!

Tasha+Scott - what a GORGEOUS daughter you have!!!! Makes me almost want...um...nah. DS is still enough ;)

Cam - GOOD LUCK THIS WEEKEND!!

Welcome to all the newest newbies!!!

And I, too, have an alter ego I share with my DH so if I ever don't respond right away to my Storygirl, forgive me!

Happy Saturday all!!!

Hi J2N! I have a nickname now that is not Purple Giraffe!!!!! TCJen! Thanks, Jenn!!!! :) The Weight Watcher books and website will probably be of more help than me! What I know is that 50 calories=1 point, 15 minutes=1 gained back point, or 2 if it's really sweaty and hard work. Can you tell us your alterego...not forcing, I just like to be nosy. You can call me on it, too, if I am being too nosy.

Nice job, Cam! Good luck!

Morning! Put me down for 11/100...!

TCJen - My alter ego is slk537 - Dh started it so it's his intials and random numbers. That's the one I've been around with since May 2004 (when we bought our first DVC contract). I wanted my own so that subscribed threads will go to my email, not his.

Hope everyone is having a terrific Sunday!!!

Hi Everyone--
since tasha told me about this, i think i am going to join--i wont be able to do the full 100 days, since i go to disney in 74 and i KNOW ill be cheating there :) but I would love to be able to be "cheat free" till then...
my cheat free is going to be
-no fast food
-no soda
-no overeating
-cut down a TON of junk food, especially ice cream...
-not eat extra food at work (i work at a daycare center and will munch on snacks when the kids are eating)

hope its okay to do less than 100 and post here?--i need motivation!

Hey, Jen! Glad you decided to join this challenge! :wave2:

Well, put me down for 3/100 cheat-free days so far (that is counting today)! I made it through the weekend despite some temptation! I am claiming today too b/c there is no junk in the house and we have no plans to go anywhere so there is no way I will be able to cheat today even if I wanted to! 3 down...97 more to go... :earseek:

I am 5/100 only 95 days to go!!

I guess I am going to continue using my alter ego. For some reason the system will not let me log out. I like this name better anyway. :flower: I couldn't think of anything when I first signed up due to severe lack of imagination.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!!

Hi lillygator -

If you go back to the first page of this thread and look below our names in the first post there is a link to the clippie.

All you have to do is cut and paste it into your signature and then change the { at the beginning to a [ and the } at the end to a ]. That should do it for you.

Good luck!!

Hi, everyone! So excited to see people checking in and doing so well.

Lillygator-- hope you can figure out the clip art thingie -- it is fun to have. Thank you so much for your kind and supportive words. I still have a long way to go, so it is so nice to hear support along the way to keep me moving.

dopey4disney -- Great work! Keep it up and enjoy watching those numbers go up on your cheat free challenge, and I'd bet soon you'll see the numbers going down on the scale!

Blueeyes101817 -- Welcome, Jen! So nice to have you here. Dont' worry at all about having a trip in the middle of this challenge. We all have days or events or vacations to work around and I think this is a great place to develop a strategy to get through those events without totally de-railing our efforts.

Well, guys, I am claiming today, bringing me to 7/100 and through my first week. I knew today was going to be hard and I did really well. I had only yogurt and coffee for breakfast to save points for lunch, which was a piece of turkey and cheese sub with no oil or mayo. Also ate lots of baby carrots instead of chips. Snack was light popcorn. Dinner was our favorite pizza -- I had the smallest piece of buffalo chicken pizza and a 1/3 piece of chicken parm pizza. Dessert was birthday cake for Andy, which I only tasted and I had cherries. Heading off to bed now, content in knowing I made it through, and 100% confident that you guys kept me on track. Thanks!

I had a good weekend! I lost two pounds! :cheer2:

But more importantly....I was working at my desk at home and the screensaver popped on. I have all the pictures from our Sept trip and our June trip.

Man, you should see the difference. In Sept I was still OP and walking 50 minutes a day. You can sure tell! By June...well, let's just say it ain't pretty.

So THAT REALLY inspired me!

Honeibee - WTG on the 2 pound loss and seeing a difference in your pictures! There is nothing like pictures for inspiration. Your wedding picture is beautiful.

lovinaz - Yeah for you!! Dinner and a party over the weeked and still cheat free!!! WTG!!! :cool1:

Storygirl - Congratulations on 12 cheat free days!

So far 3/100 days. Today is day 4 and doing good but then again its only 10am. :rotfl:

Well, prompted by a pm this morning. . . I'm checking in. Meant to do it last night, but I forgot.

I have had a few days of peace and quiet, reading James Patterson's London Bridge. I have another of his books in the wings.

I have NOT had carbs before bed, so I am 3/100 as of now. I HAVE been to Curves, and that helps.

I've been filling my Blizzard Beach humongous refillable mug with my water, and that makes me :sunny: .

Christie, your cheers have me remembering how important it is for us to encourage each other on. ;)

Cam, your pm was a trigger for me, :D so now I have checked in. [Remember, that is one of my goals!]

lillygator, weigh to go. :moped: I will be at Disney for a week. I'll adjust my goals slightly, but not much. I'll have a few more planned treats that week. :mickeybar

Storygirl, lovinaz, Zoesmom and joelyfaithsmom, you guys rock! Keep up the good work. :cheer2:

Honeibee, I don't have any pictures to inspire me (thank heavens!). . .but I DO have my inspire bracelet that another WISHer gave me a year ago to help me through the ½ marathon. You are looking beautiful, hon, and you are on the right track! :wizard:

Stay strong, ladies. We can do this!

How is everyone's day going so far??

lillygator - Congratulations on making it through day #3. I'm glad to see you got the clippie to work.

zoesmama - One tread a day won't hurt a bit with all the walking you will be doing. Got to have those :mickeybar I do anyway, one a day the whole time I'm there.

Jen - Yeah you!! Four pounds lighter in July and its only the middle of the month, WTG!!!

Debbie - Thanks, cheering everyone on helps me stay on track and I want us ALL to succeed in this challenge. WTG making it through day #3.

I go weigh in at WW in a couple of hours, I'm really curious (nervous) as to what the scale is going to show. :scared:

Have a great day!!!

Hi, Debbie! Thanks for checking in. I hope you don't mind the PM. I just wanted you to know that I was thinking about you. And I didn't want you to go through the day without seeing "3/100" and skipping right to "4/100" tomorrow -- you EARNED that "3" already and deserved to see that all day! You GO, girl!

Hi, Swimming-Jen! So glad to see you here. Isnt' this fun?

Do you all realize that between us we have well over 130 cheat-free days? I know that I, for one, would not have been sufficiently motivated to get through this weekend without all of you, and I really appreciate the support.

For those of us with an upcoming WDW trip or any other kind of special occasion or vacation, I was thinking, "It is so much easier to stay on track at home than in those circumstances. So, I am going to master this behavior in the easiest set of circumstances available to me (which, God knows, is hard enough as it is)."

Having done that, I will be much more comfortable about allowing myself treats at WDW. I know a lot of people really look forward to the :mickeybar , but I am absolutely crazy about the sugar free version of the Minnie bar -- frozen strawberry. And I cannot wait to have that in my favorite place in the world. I am also looking forward to a planned treat at Ghirardelli's chocolate and to sharing a turkey leg with my friend. We are also planning a visit to Pleasure Island where we will have "grown up beverages" and to the Cape May Cafe for a character breakfast where I can't wait to have a ::MickeyMo waffle heaped with fresh fruit!

Have a great night, everyone!

Way to go, Jen! I know that had to be tempting but you didn't give in!

Well, tonight started off rocky but I am proud to say I remedied the situation successfully! Dh came home with pizza totally unaware that I was trying to do the 100 days cheat-free challenge! He said he thought I might like a break and I thought it was so sweet so I didn't have the heart to tell him that I couldn't eat it. So I ate it and told him that I would be starting the cheat-free challenge tomorrow and tonight's the last night I can have anything like that. I didn't want to start over on the challenge though so I upped my speed on the treadmill and worked HARD! I walked for 30 min. and was sweating more than when I walked 70 min. last night. So I am claiming today as a cheat-free day since I worked my tail off to burn that pizza off and I didn't eat tons of it anyway. So I am now at 4/100. :)

Cam - I'm with you, I never would have made "any" of my cheat free days without my challenge buddies. Thanks everyone!

Shauna - Congratulations on a cheat free weekend!!

Paula - Welcome!! You CAN do it, we'll help :flower:

Blueeyes - WTG!!! You did an amazing job of not ordering anything, I don't know that I would have had the will power.

Tasha+Scott - Claim that day girl!! You deserve it!!

Jen (swimmer) - Congratulations on another day down! I will be telling myself to keep swimming all day :)

ADisneyMom - Welcom to the group, you will love it here!

lillygator - Congrats on making it throught day 4!! I have just started staying for the meetings last week. I do so much better when I do stay, they make a big difference in my weight loss. I quit staying in October and I have been on a weight loss roller coaster since and it's not near as much fun as RRC ;)

Last night she talked about stress eating. I don't think it was what she planned on talking about but she said she lost count of how many people came in telling her that they had been stressed all week and were eating because of it. She asked us how we handled stress and some of the answers were: exercise, bubble bath, deep breathing, read a book and some others that I cannot remember right now.

The one question she asked was "When you are finished eating is the stress gone?" Of couse we all said No, because when we eat because of stress it actually just stresses us out more. Because now we are worried about how many points are we over, what is the scale going to show on Monday or how long is it going to take to get the weight off? Stress eating just causes more stress. It was an interesting class.

BTW, I lost 3 pounds!!!

Have a great cheat free day everyone!!! :cheer2:

JoshMom5 -- So, how was your cheat free day? Hope it went well. Remember one day at a time. You don't have to get through 100 days. You just have to get through today, right!?!

Jen -- You are a much stronger person than I -- I would have ordered a side salad and diet soda or ice water, just caving to peer pressure! What a good friend you were to your friend. And what a good friend you were to yourself sticking to your plan!

Tasha -- You are so amazing! After I eat pizza, I usually feel like a lump. It is so awesome that you worked off those calories! See, a treat is not a cheat! We just have to pay for it! You must be so happy to just keep moving ahead! :cool1:

Lillygator -- So glad you made it through the day! Isn't it fun to have that clipart and have the pleaure of updating that number every day? (Reminds me I have to go do mine)

ADisneyMom -- Glad to meet you! Welcome aboard. And congratulations on a cheat-free day! What a strong start!

Hi, Twinkles6892! It's never too late to join. Very glad to have you. Was yesterday cheat-free for you? Or is today your first day? I put you as starting today but will fix it if you already have a day or more under your belt!

Glad to report I stayed cheat-free yesterday. It wasn't hard at all. I got engrossed in Harry Potter, so when I finished my points for the day, I just moved upstairs, away from the kitchen, with ice water and my book. I know I am weak :rotfl2: , so I just have to remove myself from temptation.

First I find out that I have an abnormal pap...pre-cancerous they call it.

Now, I am just back from the doctor for a follow-up to my physical last month. She tells me I have inflamation of the arteries, the beginings of heart disease. :sad2:

She just put me on a baby aspirin a day, took a pint of blood, told me to exercise every single day and RELAX.

How's that for motivation not to cheat?

Oh, sweetie, I am so sorry you are getting all this bad news. :guilty: First of all, I have also had an abnormal pap about 3 times. And having just found out (after my mother died) that she had uterine cancer at the age of 44, that is an even scarier thought than before. I can also tell you, that all three times, the test result was wrong. I don't know much about it, but isn't there a more precise test they can do that will tell you exactly what is going on? What is the plan?

Inflammation of the arteries sounds scary too. Hopefully that is something that will be addressed with the aspirin. I have a "dangerously high" anticardiolipin antibody which means my clotting factor, which should be something like between 0-25 was 109, a number the hematologist said is unheard of. Again, everyone panicked and I was seeing the hematologist every couple of weeks and taking adult aspirin every day, etc. etc. It is down now to about 69-80 and that is still really bad, but it has absolutely no impact at all whatsoever on my daily life. That's not to say that I have any idea at all what you are going through or what your condition is. I just want you to know that some of the scariest stuff can turn out to be okay.

I am glad for you that you are working on creating a healthier you. All you can do is all that is in your power :goodvibes and pray.

I will keep you in my prayers, Honeibee. Sending :wizard: and :grouphug: .

Another day under my belt! That makes me 8/100!! I had to work to earn that day! I found myself doing a couple "pantry drive-bys" so I went out to finish some laundry. And I discovered that DB, trying to be helpful, put the whites in the dryer. And I mean ALL the whites, including a bra, 2 sports bras and 2 of DS9's shirts that needed to be re-treated and re-washed... :sad2: I think I can kiss those shirts goodbye! But I didn't snack so I guess that makes up for it! :goodvibes

Anyway, I had a great day yesterday, cheatingwise. I actually lost another pound, which I directly attribute to sweating in this 99% humidity we are still having.

I guess now I'll be on that treadmill every day. I know from last year when I lost thirty pounds relatively easily that walking was responsible for most of that. So in a way I am looking forward to this.

I have a horse that needs me. So I HAVE to take care of myself and stay healthy! :cheer2:

I am glad for you that you are working on creating a healthier you. All you can do is all that is in your power and pray.
::yes::

You've done it before, and you'll do it again, Honei! You're right, though, about cancer being one of the scariest words around. Look at it this way, if it is, then it has been caught early and now we can battle it. Until then, try not to worry too much. As Cam said, there are lots of PAP tests that come back as "abnormal".

Sending :wizard: and :grouphug: that you can get some rest until the results are definitve. Now-no time to rest-get out there and attack that stress by walking!

I know, I'm ready to go. I was kinda ready anyway, since I compared last Sept's WDW trip pictures to this past Junes. Phew! I looked better before! But this is just the kick in the booty I need.

Thank you for your kind words.

BTW, have you ever been to Pop Century before? We stayed there one night last Sept and thought it was great. :flower:

Yesterday was great for no cheating but food wasn't awesome. DH decided to go out to Johnny Carino's for dinner so I went way into my flex points. On a happy note, I drank 100 oz. of water yesterday so I am still proud of myself.

Please put me down for 7/100 and I'm on my way to 8!

Hello everyone ~

This is my 7th day cheat free. Doing well ~ exercising in the morning as usual although work has been really busy, so I am relying on ready-made meals. Which I really don't like doing.

Will try and check in soon.

Good luck everyone for the next few days.

This is my 7th day cheat free.

Congrats, Minniespal for finishing 6 DAYS already!!! :cheer2: Awesome!

I know what you mean about the prepared meals. Given a limited amount of time, I am also more likely to spend it on exercise and resort to prepared meals. I have been trying to keep lite english muffins, lite tortillas, lunchmeats, salad makings, and lots of fruits around so that I can do something less processed once in a while. When I get a chance (usually on Sunday night), I try to cook up a bunch of chicken breast or get DH to grill it for me. YUM!

Keep up the great work! So glad to hear from you with your great news! :teeth:

Good morning, my cheat-free friends! I have counted them up, and I am 6/100 now. :bounce: Once I make it through bedtime routines tonight, it'll be a week. :teeth:

Congratulations to ALL of us, whether it has been 1 day, 13 (I wanna go on TOT right NOW) or 50! I'm impressed with the resolve to change our habits.

I didn't get to Curves yesterday, as I was at a workshop all day. I've got plans to get there today before I pick up DD at school. BUT, I drank my water, and there is still no box or bag of crackers beside my bed. No unplanned snacks, either....just the ones that I have planned and accounted for. :earsboy:

Anyway, stay strong!

We CAN do this....one day at a time.

Okay, confession: I didn't do so hot yesterday. I am staying at my mom's and the temptation got to me and I gave in! :sad2: It's almost like I am on a mini vacation and unfortunately that's how I have been treating it so far. So, I am going to start over but don't start me over until tomorrow--July 22. I should be able to stay on track much better once I am in my own house. I am glad to see everyone else is still doing well though. I feel so guilty right now!

Hello all!!! :wave2:

I want to congratulate Everyone on doing such a great job at staying cheat free!!

I don't know about you but I am feeling so much better, not just about myself but I am not miserable all of the time due to the FULL feeling I am used to. I wonderful!!

loveinaz I agree whole heartedly about this getting easier! My DS and I usually go out to eat after WW and eat whatever we want. This week I told her we could go eat but we HAD to eat somewhere that I could stay cheat free. It's better for me and her.

Tasha+Scott - Temptation is definitely an overwhelming thing, especially when you are not in your ususal surroundings. Don't let it get you down, you can get back on track tomorrow. Just take it one day at a time!! We're here for you :goodvibes

HI JEN!! I did miss you. I was wondering how your trip was going. Glad to know that you had fun and it's good to see you back!! :sunny:

Awww, shucks, d4dis! You spoil me!

And I can now proudly say that I never want to eat another McyD's burger again. I did on Monday...Tuesday I almost blacked out in my shower (I felt really light headed) and nearly threw up. If those are the consequences for eating that hockeypuck, stick me with a Chicken McGrill and a Fruit and Walnut Salad! Let the laughs commence!

This is most definitely getting easier! If I want something extra, that little WISH voice says "That's unplanned snacking, you know. Can you live without it? Do you really need it? Is it worth it?" I used to hate that voice...but now I  it! Off to eat breakfast now!

Awesome days are ahead! Will this one be it?

Good going, Debbie! :love1: I don't know about you, but I can't remember the last time before this challenge that I went 6 days cheat free! Thank you for reminding us it is JUST one day at a time.

So, I am going to start over but don't start me over until tomorrow--July 22. I should be able to stay on track much better once I am in my own house. I am glad to see everyone else is still doing well though. I feel so guilty right now!

Tasha -- There is NOTHING to feel guilty about! Look at how many days you went cheat-free and remember how you made up for that pizza you ate! You are doing GREAT! :flower: I know that I can really eat mindlessly, and if this challenge just helps me to be more conscious of what I am eating, then it is already serving a purpose. Don't beat yourself up! Enjoy the couple days you have at your parents and make the most of the time away from home!

Jen -- Welcome back, sweetie! We missed you. It has been so quiet, wiht no one cheering! BTW, I think you shorted yourself a day. IF you started on 7/12, you have, in fact, finished 9 DAYS cheat free! 7/12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20! Just tell me if I am right and I will put your count at 9 days!

OK yesterday when I got home I had an unplanned snack (pretzels) but then I made up for it by reducing my dinner somewhat. So I consider it a good day.

Plus...plus....I did my walking TWICE! :cool1:

Keener, this is so great! Thank you so much!

Hey girls, guess what I did!?!?!?! Since I am not hitting up the snack shop at work all the time now, I have some extra change in my wallet now. So, I made up a coffee can, taped it all up and decorated it, and now I slip my spare change and a couple of singles (if I got 'em) in it, and it's my "Magical Wishes Fund". It probably won't be enough to pay for my next trip. But it will be something anyway.

Plus it's good when I have to decide "Do I want to buy that snack or do I want to stay at the Poly next trip???" That always clinches it!

:flower:

I had a bit of a rough day today. I ended up going out to Ruby Tuesday's for a business lunch, which was unexpected. I was able to order something off their Smart Selections menu and didn't overdo the points too much. Paula -- That is so awesome! Congratulations. I am so grateful that more and more restaurants are putting more healthy choices on their menus. I've realized that on WW, I can eat almost anything -- it's just the portions that I have to watch.

So, what kind of 100 calorie packs do you like? I just tried the oreo ones for the first time, last week -- oh, man are they delicious! I dipped them in strawberry fit n fiber yogurt -- 3 points total for an amazing treat -- tasted like chocolate covered strawberries with crunch. YUM! Wish I had some now!

My favorites are the wheat thins. If I have enough points, I like to dip them in reduced fat peanut butter. YUM!

That sounds delicious. I would never have thought of combining those. I will have to try it.

Are smoothies from Planet Smoothie considered a cheat item?

If not, I'd like to join on...I have to have my breakfast smoothie!

Danvers -- I would think that if that is something you have planned for, then it is probably not a cheat. We all have "treats" :mickeybar , and we just plan our calorie or point or carb allowances around whatever it is we eat. I know I am willing to do extra exercise to earn activity points on weight watchers to compensate for special meals or treats.

So, I've added you to the list with yesterday as a start date. If you weren't cheat-free and prefer to start fresh today, just let me know. If you got through yesterday cheat-free, well, then, you are already at 1/100!

This afternoon at our dept meeting they had a Publix cake and homemade brownies. I didn't even go by the table, when the meeting was over I simply went back to my office

Vee-- that is a huge victory, regardless of what the scale says today. You must be so proud of yourself! :jumping1: Congratulations! While I know we all want the scale to show our progress (take it from one who knows!), we have to be so happy about making changes in our lives that will make us healthier. So, give yourself a huge amount of credit for avoiding all that temptation yesterday!

Jen -- I am soooo glad that having us all here as a challenge group helps you through some difficult temptations. I know that is what kept me from eating chicken tenders and fries last night at 10:30. Darn, they smelled really good.

Hoping everyone has another great cheat-free day!

Weigh to go Lilly! You keep up the good work, you hear!

It's going to be a very busy weekend for me, so I went to Curves this morning after I dropped DD at school. That makes me 3/3 on that goal. :teeth:

I had a planned treat before bed last night....but no boxes beside me. :goodvibes

I'm drinking my water, and loving the warm weather. Of course, I'm loving it from inside my air-conditioned house when it gets TOO much. :rotfl2:

Most importantly, I'm getting my house somewhat organized.

So, please put me down for Lucky 7, please Cam. If I don't get a chance to check in until later this weekend, good luck! I always find the weekends to be challenging, but this time, I plan to beat the cheat!

Congratulations to everyone for every small victory -- every single minute counts in this quest. Every time I get through a difficult situation, it gives me so much confidence to face the next challenge.

Here's hoping everyone has a fabulous cheat-free weekend! Mine shouldn't be too bad tonight, but tomorrow, after the 5K, we will be with friends all day who eat very different foods than I might otherwise plan on, so I am going to be very good for breakfast and lunch and save all my points for dinner and dessert. We are bringing desserts, so besides whatever else I take there, I will also take a huge fruit salad.

Sunday is a trip to the Catskills in NY to visit the camp that DS12 will attend for 3 weeks starting 8/7. Since he will ride a camp bus there, we wanted to go up and tour the camp and meet the director, etc. Hopefully, it will not be hard to stay on plan, but I will strategize ahead of time for the food choices I hope to make.

WISHing everyone else a very successful, cheat-free weekend! Be sure to check in here as often as possible -- I LOVE updating everyone's numbers. You want to "relish" every single digit!

HUGS, Cam

Awesome, lillygator!!!! AWESOME job, everybody! All the lbs lost, all the "not gonna eat it", all of the support-WOW! Good luck Cam! Congrats Catherine!

Today is 10/100 cheat free. Holy COW...it was very hard to do so yesterday. At play practice, they brought in ice cream. And there were cherries calling my name.

But did I eat a yummy? No! I did it and I was proud. I thought of you all and drank 4 bottles of water and busted out the Playdoh!

Gator Guy-you and me are a pair! :p

Cheat free weekends are on the horizon!!!! YES! We can do this! One day at a time, (thanks for reminding me, Debbie!!!)

Everyone is doing so great.

I resisted the pizza day today, which is every Friday, and ate my salad and sandwich. I even have enough points left to have some low fat ice cream for my snack later. Yeah! 5/100!

Here's hoping everyones has a cheat-free weekend! :cheer2: :disrocks:

Nice job JoshsMom!!! Great work...and ice cream? Do enlighten me...what flavor and what brand (I prefer the Breyers WholeFruit bars...25 cals and popsicle shaped/like but smooth consistency...not gritty like certain generic brands).

I got the Edys Grand light french vanilla. A 1/2 cup is 2 points and it is really good. Sometimes, I have the fudge tracks. This is 3 points but satisfies a chocolate craving. I really love ice cream. :cold: :mickeybar

I've made my first 5 cheat free days, 5/100. I know I have a long way to go.
Whenever I even think about something that is not low carb I think about the 100 day Cheat-Free Challenge and I haven't cheated yet.

I loosely follow the South Beach Diet.

Congratulations on everyone staying cheat-free.

Nice job, DisneyMom! I'd like to try SBD...how do you like it? Do you feel deprived in any way? And 5 days is no small potatoes...5 days closer to a better you. As for me, I'd never have thought I could go 100 days without snacking-snacking-snacking constantly. But I'm doing it, you are too, and I'm proud of

~ALL~

of us!

Catherine-Thanks! :)

We had our first showing of the play yesterday, less than stellar, but we pulled it off. And the church gave us dinner. Baked steak, potatoes, and corn...and didn't know the points value for any of it. I was HUNGRY, so I ate it, feel no regrets and am starting a brand new dayt which none of that can mar!!!

Gonna make today 12/100!

Hi, everyone! Made it through another weekend -- would have been tough, but planned for popcorn at the movies Friday night, dinner with friends on Saturday (fruit for dessert), and packed breakfast and lunch for our roadtrip yesterday.

2 weeks for me! Hopefully, when I step on the scale tomorrow, it will show some progress.
I hope everyone else had a fabulous weekend! :)

Whew..made it through the weekend. I thought that it would be tougher than what it was. We went riding this weekend on the motorcycles and instead of eating out as I planned and we always do, I brought healthy snacks and did really well. So I made it through day 6...Today is the start of day 7.

Wow 6 days cheat free...whoda thunk??? This does get easier as the days go by. DH is giving me a headache because of the lack of sweets in the house. I made him a cheese cake a few nights ago and I am getting it from him because I am not eating that with him. He is crazy!!!!

Good job, everyone. Weekends can be a difficult time. I have hit my first 10%, and am 10/100 today. :goodvibes Made some money at the garage sale, and the same again by selling many of my Disney pins. I lost money on them, but I've enjoyed them for a few years and it's time to let the joy go to others. :rolleyes1 Now, I think that I have my food money for my trip next month. Keep strong. . . one day at a time.

We went out of town on Sunday and when we got there I realized I left my
"safe" food at home.

I thought well it won't be so bad I only have 6 cheat free days, I can start over. However, when I thought about having to post that I was starting over I gave it more thought. That made me stay on track. I found a local Wal-Mart found some soda with splenda and other "safe" things and stayed on track.

I was also rewarded on the scale this morning.

Glad to see so many others had a cheat-free weekend.

Thanks for this thread.

ADisneyMom-- You did great! You must be so proud of yourself! Congratulations! I know how good that feels. I did the same thing for our road trip yesterday -- packed food so that I had safe choices. Even brought for my family only snacks that I could have, so that I wouldn't be tempted to stray. The accountability that this thread gives me has been a lifesaver. I am so glad you are finding it to be so helpful!

I was doing so well, until today.

Running errands at lunch time, a stop at the drug store proved dangerous.

There it was.

A KING SIZED Hersheys Dark Chocolate bar.

Right by the register.

As if that wasn't bad enough....

IT WAS ON SALE.

OK, I bought it.

And ate it.

Before I even got back to my office.

Does this mean I have to start over, or do I just lose a day?

If I was in the Whispering Canyon Cafe you'd all point at me and say "Bad bad bad!".

Holy COW. Hotter than the oven in Satan's kitchen today. And we had band camp. I sweated forever...marching, drills, and about a billion bottles water drank (2 actually), then playing. And it storms.

And there's this little evil corner in me that's very frustrated with how I did today...my evil squad leader kept saying I wasn't good enough, too fast, too slow, adding things, not utilizing things. I can't believe I actually started listening to it. You know what they say: hear it long enough and you start thinking that good. She made me feel like every mistake was personally MY fault. I left my flipfolder at home and she Xeroxed some music especially for me. I felt bad, but she made me feel even worse.

And people in my squad seem to think that I have the keys to the solution of every problem in the world. Basically a bunch of negativity. If you're not going to put forth the effort to at least TRY then why am I putting forth effort to teach if you're gonna do nothing and complain nobody helps you?? I can only do so much. Realize: I am not Supergirl...I can't do everything. Please don't think I can...my energy and "powers", whatever you say, aren't limitless. Learn to do things yourself or just don't ask me! Rant over!

We do do this really awesome Napoleon Dynamite-esque dance...I'm so tired. Haven't learned that dance yet...I'm psyched.

I'm ranting because I can't just have a spaz attack at band camp and feeling this way makes me wanna eat crazily even though I really am hungry. Sorry.

A KING SIZED Hersheys Dark Chocolate bar.

Though preliminary, the research indicates that cocoa and chocolates not only contain natural compounds that can protect the heart and blood vessels but also that the quantities present in commercial products may be sufficient to exert measurable effects.

Honei, you were thinking of your heart! Dark chocolate is important to stay heart healthy, so you WERE doing something healthy. Now, you could compound the health (and battle the calories) by getting out there and walking, or doing some sort of exercise. Drink your water, and eat well the rest of the day. Most important, don't beat yourself up over this!

I have actually been cheat free for 2 whole weeks!!! I can't tell you the last time that happened. I went to my WW meeting last night and I lost 3.5 pounds!!! :cool1: I have all of my cheat free buddies to thank for that :rose: , without all of you I would not be staying OP, so THANK YOU

Congratulations to everyone, you are all doing such a great job.

Honeibee - Like Debbie said, you are doing something good for your heart. I read in Prevention magazine that eating 1 normal sized dark chocolate candy bar (3 oz. I think) per day can cut your risk of heart disease by either 21% or 23%, don't remember the exact number.

Have a great day!!!

Hey Cam!

I'm starting over, effective today, 7/26/05. It's not because I've cheated but more because I haven't been keeping very close track. My math class has been kicking my butt and I've been working really, really hard to make sure that I got an A. Well, my final was last night, I got a 96 on the test and an A in the class so I feel that I can devote more time to everything else now.

I was still maintaining and watching what I ate but I have not been sleeping for the past week and haven't been journaling properly. I really want to be fair to myself and follow the plan I set forth.

So, my goals are:
- Stay OP and journal everything with the following exceptions
- 1 "bite" or mini-splurge a day (such as 1 Hershey's kiss)
- 1 splurgey meal each week
- If I have more than 1 "bite" in a give day, I will journal it and take the points. Likewise, if i splurge on more than 1 meal each week, I will journal it and take the points.

Thanks again!
