Okay.... finally a few minutes. Wow.... just think of all the room we will have on the ship with just 4 Cabins booked. lol Lets see... will that mean we each go to a different dining room? Just think of the odds we will have at the Bingo games, Mouseketter etc. No waiting for chairs by the pool :sunny:
Maybe we can even have a vote on which Ports to visit.
Talk to everyone soon....

Welcome CandianBB & Family!! I'm sooo glad you found us! I know what you mean about a "trip of a lifetime"... that was my intention with this trip but I already know I'm hooked...
My DS (6) is excited, but I'm out of control with planning, reading, researching, plotting... etc... I want the best trip possible!

Hi everyone. Someone has to tell me... How do I put a tag line on my signature to show how long before I cruise?
So, what excursions is everyone looking at doing? After all, with so few people on, we will not need to stay on board at ports to get quality ship time.
Kimmielee
11-12-2005, 08:37 AM
CanadianBB - you can get your ticker at daisypath.com. You just cut the code from there and paste it in your signature!
By the way... does BB stand for Bed and Breakfast? :rotfl2:
Excursions... still deciding. I'm not sure what will keep DS (6) interest more than the clubs and the pool. Most likely the beaches! What are you thinking about? :confused3

Just found this thread. I am very new to this board and to Disney Cruising. Have been reading your messages, not up on all of the abbreviations...
I am sailing with my husband, son (11) and daughter (7). This will be our 10 year Ann. Cruise. We are very excited. If anyone has any helpful tips on excursions, shows or onboard activities, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi Yumi
I'm so excited that the cruise is officially "on" for you and your hubby! How long is your flight to Orlando from Japan?
fantasia
01-06-2006, 10:04 AM
Hi Kimmielee !!
I think it'll take for about 18hrs. We usually use the Japan Airlines and AA.
So our flight plan is :: Tokyo(Narita) to Chicago and Chicago to Orlando.
How do you come to Orlando and how long will it take?
Kimmielee
01-06-2006, 10:37 AM
Much easier for us... we live about an hour north of the Detroit Metro Airport, so we usually stay at the hotel by the airport the night before since our flight leaves so early... flight is 2 hours and 15 minutes! We are usually at POFQ by 11:30 a.m.!!
The Chicago to Orlando flight is probably very similar to our flight... are you coming in early to go to Disney World before the cruise?

My DH, DD(11) and I will be on this cruise as well. We are coming from New Hampshire the night before and staying at the Carribean Beach. I bet we'll see each other on the bus.
Has anyone ever stayed at the Disney Resort and taken the bus to the port before? I'm curious as to what time we'll arrive at the port.
This is our first Disney Cruise. I've done Disney World 4 times, my DD 3 times and my DH about 10+ times. He is a teacher and they go to Disney every 4 years. We are looking forward to trying out a different type of Disney expereience.
Exactly 3 months from today. WoHooo :hourglass

It is our first Disney cruise too! We are staying at POFQ for a few days prior to sailing. :sail:
I'm debating about using the Disney transportation to the port or having a town car pick us up... I want to be in control of the time we get to the port... I guess that's pretty silly... eh?
I'll try to go through the posts (although, most of them are MINE :bitelip: ) and try to come up with a roster of all of us so far...
Welcome!!! :sunny:

I've updated some of my information. (see below)
I"m wondering if anyone on this thread has stayed a WDW a night or 2 before cruising? My paperwork says, if you are a U.S. Citizen and you check in at the resort that you don't have to check in again at the port. I'm trying to verify this with DCL via e-mail but haven't heard back from them yet. If anyone has info. on this, it would be most helpful.
Also, we are looking at shore excursions for Grand Cayman or Cozumel, does anyone have any suggestions. It doesn't have to be a Disney excursion. We are looking for relaxation, with a bit of island browsing. We are not interested in tours.
Any insight would be helpful.
What catagory rooms does everyone have. We are a catagory 8 (deluxe oceanview).

Ok, to answer what I can...
Mitch - I don't believe you can check in at the resort if you are not doing a Land/Sea combo. I read that in the Passporter.
I am torn on excursions... just doing the relaxing beach thing in Grand Cayman. I'm going to rush off at Key West long enough to ship a couple of Key Lime Pies back to my staff in Michigan.... and probably won't get off at Cozumel (been there, done that...). Of course, we'll enjoy Castaway Cay. If you don't have a Passporter, it's the BEST and lists the non-Disney excursions too.
Sharon - We are also staying at POFQ too! We are coming in on Tuesday. I made this trip into our "dream" vacation... :rolleyes1 What special thing do you have planned for Bobby's birthday?
We are staying in a Cat 6 verandah because I am hoping that Noah will nap during the mid day... and I can sit out there with a book and a yummy fruity alcholic beverage... and watch the world sail by! :boat:

Sharon, for a little extra touch, if you are interested... check out Shirley's baskets at www.theperfectgift.cc
She makes them with things that are Disney Cruise specific, can add each child's favorite candy, soda, etc... and, within reason, will add soemthing that you ship her to make it even more unique! She's an awesome lady and I'm ordering Noah's basket from her. It will be delivered to the room on the ship!
I'm putting sand toys for the beach, trying to get my hands on one of the larger Mickey Sailor's and shipping down a Disney game boy game to stick inside as though it is all from Mickey himself! Good luck! :goodvibes

I'm not familiar with a passporter. It sounds like I need one though. What is it and how do I get one.
We're thinking of relaxing and not doing much for shore excursions. We will do our own thing on Key West. We're going to grab a map and maybe ride the trolley. My goal for that shore excursion is to have a frozen chocolate covered key lime pie on a stick. DH and I took a cruise alone in 2002 with a stop at Key West and I had one and have been thinking about them since. Yum. We may do the Seven Mile Beach break on Grand Cayman and most likely a little bit on Cozumel, but might take advantage of people being off the ship that day and doing ship related stuff.
We are not celebrating our 10th anniversary. I'm not quite sure how I gave you that impression. We're not officially celebrating anything. Although I am turning 40(yuck) the week we return to New Hampshire. So I guess you can say I'm revisiting my youth before I hit the big 4-0.
I'm enjoying this message board. It's nice to have a connection with people I'll be on vacation with in 3 months.

Mitch,
You can order it on line from www.passporter.com or buy it at your local book store. I've got the cruise version and am buying the WDW version this weekend. I think if you order it on line it's a bit less expensive. VERY worth it!
Sorry about the anniversary thing... it was Amber and her hubby! I fixed the cast list!
Chocolate covered Key lime pie on a stick ???? Oh my, is that heaven or what? I'll have to try one too! Will you take the kids with you? I've heard you can sign them into the clubs... not sure I could get off the ship and leave Noah behind... :rolleyes1

Hey Kimmielee,
If you have a chance to try the choc. covered key lime pie, let me know what you think. It's pretty darn good. I can picture the place, but I couldn't possibly tell you where it is. I"m planning on asking someone when we get there.
We are bringing DD with us. I'm not comfortable leaving her on the ship without us on board. I'm pretty sure she'll be safe when she is signed into the Oceaneer's Lab, but I still want to her to be able to leave if she is unhappy. It is her vacation too.
No problem about the anniversary thing. There are lots of people to keep track of here.

I'm sorry to hear you won't be around either. But I completely understand. The only reason we can do this trip is because we've been saving for a while and got 2 of our flights free. You will have fun doing the land/sea package. Are you doing WDW first, then the cruise?
Kimmielee
01-26-2006, 07:19 PM
We are doing 5 nights at POFQ, then the cruise for 4 nights, then 3 nights back at POFQ (or perhaps the Nick Hotel...) still trying to decide.
My problem is I saved enough for the cruise but not enough for the rest of it... I should have cut back on the WDW part - but plane tickets purchased, time off granted, etc... the thought of having 13 days off was too tempting!
I'll do a 7 night cruise in 2007 and only do 2 days at Disney before and it won't be as expensive!
Enjoy that chocolate covered Key Lime Pie on a stick for me!

My son did the dolphin encounter a few years ago & loved it. He loves anything & everthing dolphins, even the team.
In November he did the dolphin swim in Mexico. It was more of playing with the dolphins, they didn't actually swim like other places do. It is $$$, well worth to him.
E-mail me & I will send you a picture of him. Not able to add it here.

I just found out that the dolphin swim nor the dolphin encounter will be offered, due to the damage from the hurricane. I spoke with a rep. from dolphin discovery and she said they would be holding a dolphin swim inland, though it doesnt sound as nice. I guess we are going to do the San Gervacio ruins. Maybe next time. :sad2: I would love to see your pict. I' ll shoot you an email.

Hello there!
I've been lurking these boards for quite a while, usually enjoying the posts in the WDW threads. I'm finally compelled to post though, in my quest to meet fellow cruisers for April 22 2006!
My DH Bill and I cruised the 4 day Wonder in September for our 5 year anniversary, and I quickly declared myself a cruise addict! The opportunity presented itself (Yay Federal Tax Return!!!) to look for a cruise and here we are!
Joining us will be my mother, my DS Alex 13, DD Beth 11, DD Casadie 2 (one month shy of 3) and new DD Delanie (will be 13 weeks come cruise time!)
I know my older kids would love to meet some fellow kiddos... Alex is looking forward to checking out the Stack and teen activities, but will probably be more comfortable hanging out with the 10-12's. Beth is just bouncing off the walls about everything, and is soooo disappointed that she'll not be quite old enough to ride horses in Cozumel.
Looking forward to meeting any/all of you and chatting before the cruise!

Not sure how to match rotations...I know that because my hubby and I are cast members, we kind of have to take what we get. We're just happy and thrilled to be here. It will be my DH and DS birthdays just prior to the cruise, so we'll be celebrating on board :cheer2:

Hello again! This thread sure is quiet! Everyone on this boat still on this boat? :confused3 :goodvibes
Is everybody ready for the 60 day countdown? :Pinkbounc  :woohoo: :cheer2: :cool1: I've become completely obsessed with this cruise, and spend most of my time perusing the boards for cool info!
One thing that's hanging me up is the shore excursions, and my inability to make a decision...I'm so excited about everything on the ship, and such a micro-planner..that I can't commit to anything (excursions, flounder's reef, etc..) for fear that when I see that day's navigator..I'll be missing something that I truly want to do..or the kiddos would find fun! :scared1: :headache: My husband is about to disown me! :duck:
Looking forward to more chats and exchanges here! Still hoping to find some kids for my DD 11 and DS 13 to meet, and maybe chat with before hand!

Last visit in DCL, I met the people who got to know in this thread.
Is there a plan gathering together during this April 22 DCL ?

Hi Everyone, I'm counting down also. I have it on my screensaver at work just to remind me that paradise is coming soon.
I was making myself nuts a month ago about excursions also. What I ended up doing is booking our activities on Castaway Cay and 1 excursion on Grand Cayman. We may end up cancelling the excrusion on Grand Cayman. We're going to do our own thing on Key West and Cozumel(or Costa Maya if the port changes).
I'm an obsessed planner as well. But my husband asked me to be flexible so I'm trying to chill and wait and see what happens. It's hard. But that's what my family wants.
My DD is also 11(2 months shy of 12). She is really looking forward to checking out all the activities on board.
Is anyone staying at WDW the night before?
Keep posting everyone. Only 59 days as of today.

We are now a group of 10, instead of 7...my friend Gina and her two boys are joining us! :woohoo: :cheer2:  :Pinkbounc I'll let her introduce herself later.
Since my family of 6 is local in Orlando, we (and my mother) will not be staying in a hotel. I think we are going to pool our money and get a towncar or limo to take us roundtrip. Luggage for 7 plus the actual 7 people (2 with car seats) plus a stroller will NOT fit in our minivan.
My friend may or may not stay at WDW the night before..depends on what flights she gets.
What say you, Eeyoregon? Any pre-trip plans? hee heeh! :rotfl2:

How do you know your pick up time ? From your TA ?
Maybe we'll use the same shuttle.
Last summer when we stayed at POFQ, the shuttle stopped at
POFQ&River,Old keywest and Saratoga.
When we used a shuttle for the first time, we couldn't do the choice of time at all.
As you say, I wish we can ride a little earlier shuttle ! :Pinkbounc

Hi Mharring33 !!
We'll stay at Saratoga Springs before our DCL. :wizard:

We'll be at the Carribean Beach. I'm wondering if any of you have called your resorts and asked this question. I called the DCL and asked them if we checked in there would that count as our check in at the Port even if we were only staying 1 night. They said yes. However, from everything I've read on the boards and in my Passporter, that statement doesn't seem true. Has anyone else asked this question to DCL and gotten a different answer?
I guess it doesn't matter. Whatever we have to do, we have to do. I'm just one of those people who likes to know as much as possible in advance. Did you all notice you can do you check in paperwork online at DCL.com?
Talk to you all soon.

Hey There Dznyjenn,
my DD(11) enjoys listening to music, dancing and theatre. She's quite excited about seeing a show each night of our cruise.
I'm curious. What type of work do you do at WDW? My family has fanatized about moving to Orlando and working for Disney. My husband in particular. He is a music teacher and would love to one of the "Voices of Liberty" in Epcot. That is one of our favorite things at Epcot.

Hi Mharring33 !!
Thanks your great information. I didn't notice the online check-in. :worship:
After this, I'll go to the DCL site and see My Cruise Reservation Details. :sunny:
Oh,the case is different. Did you know the Castaway member check-in service ?
If people have the Castaway member-ID(means DCL repeater),they can do check-in at an exclusive counter.
But we were not able to use this system concerning a Japanese not an US citizen.
Therefore I think there is no correct answer. :scratchin
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Queen2 !!
Really ??? Yes,I think it's a good idea to go to the airport to arrive earlier. :moped:
But I only made two reservation of ground transfers. (WDW to port, port to WDW).
Can we use the Magical Express ? Anyway we'll use the standard transportation system.
After we checked-in DCL, we'll enjoy our lunch time !!
Thanks your additional information !!

I am so excited! We just booked our cruise for April 22! This is our first cruise and will be fun - my husband is overseas with his job in a hostile enviroment and he will be home for 11 days and we are splurging and going on the cruise for most of it so he can relax without hearing bombs and military stuff all the time!
We have 2 children - Aaron will be 9 (he turns 9 on April 21st!) and a daughter Ashlyn who is 11.
We have a category 11 room on deck 6 and we are doing the Romance Package!
I am sooooooo excited!

I saw someone mention about the "gifts" and I went and ordered some cool totebags filled with gifts - candy, snacks, Dr. Pepper (their favorite - not sure if it is served on the cruise), water bottles w/holders, binoculars, glow sticks AND they will have beach towels in them IF they can come up with a Pluto one. My son's favorite character - my daughters is Tinkerbell - so her bag and stuff is tink orinated!
I will then have them tied together with Happy Birthday Baloons! Her birthday was the first part of March so this is for both of them!
I am really excited about this surprise for them!

I'm PM'ing you with my children's email addresses! My DD is 11, and would love to meet someone! Her interests right now are Neopets, Pokemon, and the Sims! My DS is 13, but because he and his sister are just about best friends, and because he's slightly special needs, he tends to hang with kids a couple of years younger than him. He loves Star Wars, Bionicle, Science (Chemistry) and anything Spy related. He's also an accomplished Boy Scout. Here's hoping they'll find some common ground! :thumbsup2
I'd love to make some new friends too! I'm 34, mother of 4...into Scrapbooking, and so in love with the mouse, I had to move to Orlando to get my fix! Looking forward to chatting with you! :earsgirl:

I went to the PO this weekend and got an idea for something for the kids. The PO had mailing envelopes with Disney theme on them.
I think I am going to buy one for each child and mail them together in a package along with things like floats for the beach, sand toys, etc. - I will then have them "delivered" to the kids during the cruise. I might just mail them there - but they will already have their gift totes waiting on them - I think it would be more fun for them to get gifts during the week in anticipation of things to come the next day (like the floats and toys for the beach at CC)
I am going to put my thinking cap on to make this be magical for them.
And I am trying to come up with things to do for my hubby since he has not seen us for over 2 months!

Just a heads up if you give blood on a regular basis
from Red Cross site
Travel Outside of U.S., Immigration
Wait 12 months after travel in an area where malaria is found. Wait 3 years after living in a country where malaria is found.
We got back from the 2/25-3/4 western that visited Costa Maya.
And my brother-in-law went to give blood & was told Costa Maya is on that list. [Cozumel wasn't]
My sister does platlets [spelling?] and she can't donate for a year either.
They say Malaria can be transfered just being in the warm water...
If you donate regular, I wouldn't get off in that port.

DD and I have tossed around different ideas on what to do with ourselves that day, 1. spa at the Floridian 2. Magic Kingdom 3. Downtown Disney 4. just lounge by the pool at day. We are torn because we have so many choices and so little time.
I'm soliciting opinions from my fellow sailmates. What would you do for the day with your DD(11)?

Just look for the super glow-in-the-dark white legs and you have found Eeeyoregon!! Lord help me, I tried sunless tan stuff and it didn't go so well :rotfl2:
I can tell it's getting closer because I have started having vivid dreams about the cruise(ones that I actually remember when I wake up).
The one I had last night might border on nightmare...dreamt we got to the airport and our luggage weighed too much so we started discarding bags left and right. When we got to the port, I realized I had "thrown" out the bag with the custody decree stating that I have sold custody of my boys. They wouldn't let us on the ship............... :sad2:

I'm with you on the white legs. I'm actually considering 3-4 tanning sessions. I'm going to check out the prices for it this week.
What would be a good way for us to know who is a DIS Board member when we get on board in 3 weeks? Any suggestions?

Could this Cruise Meets post possibly be the most quiet one in DIS history? :rotfl2:
What I'm curious about is if our fellow cruisers just don't know about the DIS boards and our cruise is actually jam packed with guests OR is our post soooo quiet because there really are only 100 of us sailing? :lmao:
Getting my hair cut tomorrow in preparation for heat, humidity and a lot of time in the water. April 21st just can't get here soon enough. Are we there yet?

YEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so ready. If my DH would let me, we'd be packed by now. The problem is I keep shopping for clothes and jewelry. If April 21st doesn't get here fast I won't have any money left to spend on the ship.
I have a hair appointment next week and a pedicure appointment the week after.
DD and I finally decided to do Magic Kingdom on April 21st. We wanted to do so much in 1 day we had to put all of our choices in a hat and pull one out. Magic Kingom won.
Come on everyone, let's do the Happy Dance!!!!

I was out shopping today & saw a nice beach bag for 5.00 at the 5 below store. They didn't have much to choose from blue, blue with strawberries, & orange. I picked blue.
Well I walked to the end of the shopping center for a stroll. When I was walking back 10 minutes later the man was putting Lime Green bags out. Ask me how fast I exchanged the bag.
Oh I was just so excited I had to come post right away. :cheer2:  :cheer2:

the web site is `nationalmssociety.org/njm`
our team is horizon family
there is a fairly large group of us so you will recognize us. if you just want to walk for the sake of walking and not raise any money then you can do that too the more the merrier.

These past few days I have been doing the shore excursion shuffle! Wish I could make up my mind! And now my boys want to parasail. We already have a lot planned at Castaway Cay so I'm thinking of reserving a parasailing adventure in Cozumel - cheaper than Disney too! They will ride tandem. We are about 95% ready. Our suitcases are getting pretty full though. We are pretty much packed. Tomorrow night will be for double checking, adding(or subtracting) misc. items. We really tried not to overpack, but it makes it hard when you have to wear 2 outfits each day. I hope we can fit everything plus leave room for a few extra items on the way home. We are not big shoppers so it shouldn't be a problem.
Is anyone else staying at the CBR Friday night?
See you all Saturday on Deck 10 at the party!!!! I can't belive it is almost here. 14 months of waiting and it's finally here.

Well, I have been 98% packed for 3+ weeks now and have trying very hard to eliminate some of it as I'm really worried that Southwest Airlines is going to enforce the 50 lb max weight and I don't want to be charged extra for overweight bags!!! Problem is if I split it into 6 suitcases plus carryon bags, I'm not entirely sure who will carry/pull them as there is only 3 of us :confused3 :rotfl2:
And let me just tell you how badly I want to lug my body pillow cross country!!! Don't know how I will ever sleep for 10 nights away from home without it :sad2: Do you think if I packed the long pillow case, I could stuff the pillows on board inside and make my own??? Major vacation blues today.
Okay I have to admit, I cried as I exited the ship and pretty much all the way to the airport. Disney just isn't nice when they blast the music as you're leaving and the darn bus driver played Disney music all the way to the airport and showed a good bye Disney Cruise Line video.
Needless to say we had a great trip. The last minute upgrade to a cat 5 put the icing on the cake. We had awsome servers Louis and Beethoven, and our room attendant Maurice as so sweet. But, the best connection we made was with Pikey and Travis. They were so entertaining and funny. AND, they really made Amanda feel special with the attention they gave her. Especially Pikey. She was able to call Bingo with him at the pool and he presented her with a certificate at one of the regular Bingo's. She's pretty much made up her mind that she wants to work for Disney after college. I think that would be a great experience for her. Does anyone know if we can e-mail the cruise staff? I would love to send them a thank you with a picture of them and Amanda.
How many of you connected over the cruise? We met Kerri Ann and her family. I'm so glad that your husband made it. That must have the been the ultimate in your magical moments last week.
We made some great memories. And are looking forward to another cruise. We did book a future cruise so we could get the discount, but probably won't be able to do it until 2008.
Please share your trip experiences. I would love to hear everyone's stories.
Well, I guess it's time to unpack and go grocery shopping.
Talk to you all soon.

I know I speak for my family and eeyoregon also when I say it was a wonderful week! Our two year old may have been a touch young, as we spent quite a bit of time in the cabin during/after tantrums, but even she said "Don't want it!" when it was time to go home! :guilty:
I am planning on writing up a detailed trip report, but unfortunately, it's back to work for me today! I'm throwing in some laundry and heading out, while the rest of my family sleeps off the "motion of the ocean" today. I swear, my house is still rocking...any of you still have that feeling?
Does anyone know if KrisannB and her hubby made it? I never saw them on the boat, and I looked around a lot for a military guy, especially on formal night! :confused3

I saw on another post where hubby made it home. I was in the elavator on formal night, in comes this handsome man(&pretty wife) in full military dress blues. I thanked him for serving our country. I never thought to ask if was KrisannB & family. We were in the glass elavator which is smaller, I don't remember if there were children or not. KrisannB let me know if that was your family.
I saw eeyoregon door sign, & I think I saw a great family picture of Jenn & family from pirate night. The infant was the first clue. I did run into two people the first day. One from NY forgot her name.
Oh DISers I had my grown on at the sailaway party :rotfl2: . I went back & forth from side to side looking for DISers.
