My friend and her kids want to go with us to Universal at the end of this month. :Pinkbounc She wants to stay at the RPR but no rooms were left. :sad2: She said there were very little rooms left at HRH and many rooms left at PBH.

What's the deal with RPR? Why are they sold out? Is there a convention in town? Is this the MOST popular resort out of the three Universal hotels? I've never stayed at the RPR so I wouldn't know. Oh well, she ended up finding a nice garden view room at the PBH. I said she wouldn't be disappointed. It looks as though PBH has a good pool with a waterslide. :flower:

My guess would be that convention(s) have booked RPR for the remainder of July. We stayed there 2 yrs. in a row, both around 3rd week of July, and both times many conventioneers. The RPR has a big convention center with all the meeting rooms, etc. We just left there yesterday after a very peaceful week........best stay yet.

This is only speculation, but the HRH is the "hip" hotel that rock/movie stars check into. It's become a favorite with the business crowd booking conventions to impress clients, because it's the closest to the parks in terms of walking distance. Some people on this board found the attitude of the HRH turned "snooty" last year, so they decided to stay at the RPR, which costs less. This is exactly what happened with me, as I just got back from the RPR. People who couldn't book the HRH are now turning to the RPR for the costs reasons and the attitude of the staff.
The PBH has always been the most expensive hotel to stay at, and it is the farthest walk to the parks. That explains why rooms are available there.

I'm surprised. I thought it was PBH that was snooty and had an attitude!

Just stayed at PB and they are not snooty at all. Ii had stayed at RPR resort twice before, but we loved PB. Our room was much nicer and our cost was only a little more with AP rate.

as of 2 weeks ago, they were still offerring "stay 4, play 4" at RPR, but not the other 2. Might be why it filled up.

Raymond James & Associates has the RPH and part of the PBH booked from July 12-17 for a conference. I'll be there "working" (only about 3-4 hours a day) from the 13-16th, representing Raymond James Bank to the Financial Advisors. If you see a guy in Stormtrooper armor, that'll be me!

Raymond James & Associates = Raymond James Stadium = GO BUCS

It'll be a lot of locals, plus a lot of RJ&A Advisors from all over the country. But since we're Florida based, we have a heavy Florida/Southern US concentration for that division.

I head off to Chicago on Sunday for the Raymond James Financial Services conference. RJFS has them all over the place. Next year it's Vegas!

What I meant to say I found PBH on the aloof side except for the bellmen. PBH is Universal's signature resort. Compared to the Grand Floridian which is Disney's signature resort, I found the GF to be warmer. That's just my opinion :flower:

RJFS has come a long way.

Funny! Years ago, I used to drive by the St. Petersburg Branch every day on Central Avenue on my way to SPC....... and say to myself I'm going to work for that place! LOL It never did happen...... I'm stuck in a hospital.

It's much better working and being at Universal than working and no universal. Have fun! :cool1:

Had the same problem for the end of august.. but all of a sudden there are rooms available! Hmmmm.. seems they hold onto some and then they get released... soooo my advice.. book at one of the other 2 while you can and check the website EVERY DAY until you see what you want!...

Good Luck!

I was part of the Raymond James group at RPR. My kids thought it was cool when the Star Wars guy was going through the buffet line. Good Job.

They told us that we had about 60% of the RPR and when it was full we had to book some people at PBR and shuttle them over for the conferences. They had a large convention area for us and since it is the cheapest of the 3 hotels, I imagine firms would rather book there first.

Next year our conference is at the Contemporary in WDW.
