I was thinking of trying it next solo trip. One nice thing about going solo is if DH and I are considering a resturaunt, I go myself first, then report back how it was. That way, if the resturaunt isn't a great success, we've only paid for 1 meal, not 2. So how's California Grill? Any tips there on dining solo?

I did once. I sat at the open kitchen and got to watch the chef make my sushi (which I ordered because I saw him making it for somebody else).

Hi Dorothy -

I did Cali Grill alone. I did enjoy it but it is one of the 2 restuarants where I felt I was treated as a lower class citizen as a solo traveler. I told them I didn't mind waiting longer for a table by the window. As soon as I was seated, I was told another CM caming running over to say I was seated at the wrong table and moved me to a non-window seat just a dew tables away. Then a few seconds later they seated a happy couple there! Maybe it was fluck and just poor management!

I ate there solo in May. It was an early seating, 5:30ish. I sat at a window seat in the bar to begin with and my waiter said I could stay there for dinner if I wanted. When they came to take me to a table I said I would stay there and it was great. I loved looking out over MK. The food was fabulous, the waiter helpful and attentive. I certainly will go back. I'm taking all my family for five days in January, but told them I can't afford to take them all to Cali Grill since it was $80+ for me on my solo trip. Can't really afford the $500+ it would be for all of us. :grouphug: I'll wait until my next solo trip. :cloud9:

Personally I think I would have raised some holy heck with the manager.

I dined there solo for the first time a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Had requested a window table at the time I made the PS, plus I got there a little early, re-requested the window table and told them I did not mind waiting for one. Got a great table, with a beautiful view. The cm was very nice and respectful of my dining alone. I had a book with me anyway and that always takes the awkwardness of dining solo away.
