DH, DS8 and myself will be taking the September 30, 2006 Eastern cruise on the Magic. Yes! Is anyone else going on this cruise? Since DS is an only child, I'm hoping he will like the clubs and meet up with some other boys his age. I can't wait! September is sooooo far away...
September is just around the corner now!! :woohoo:

Hi, my husband & I are going on the Sept.30th, 2006 cruise. We will be celebrating our 20th anniversary. The kids are staying home with grandma.

Welcome Deboraspringb!! We will be celebrating (sort of) our anniversary too on the cruise (13 years in 2006). It is a couple of weeks before we sail -- I would have liked to have gone on our anniversary, but the Magic is on the Western that week and we really wanted to do the Eastern. That is why I am thinking about getting the REAS package, but DH is uncertain about the massage. Hey, me too, but you only live once, right? :rotfl:
Is this your first cruise? Without the kids? We aren't that brave yet.
Well, hopefully we'll get a few more DISers as our countdown gets closer!!

Hi Disneymom&fam:My mom treated for our whole family to go on the 3 day land 4 day cruise in 2001. In feb 2003 we went as a family on the 7 day western carr. through make a wish. Last July my daughter & I went on the 7 day eastern carr. All through Disney. My husband surprised me with $ for a cruise for our 20th & we really like the Disney line so we picked the 7 day Eastern with Disney. it felt funny @ 1st making reserv. without the kids.

Wow! You are a seasoned cruiser. This will be our first cruise -- not counting the cruise I went on about 23 years ago! I'm having a hard time flying all the way to Florida for the cruise and not going to WDW. :sad2: We just don't have enough time (or $!).

You will love the Disney Cruise. That is why we picked it for our 20th. Your child will also love it. Our whole family had a great time. It will be hard going without the kids, but we are really excited about celebrating on the Disney Cruise. We picked the Eastern Car. because I love to snorkel.

What a sweet DH! I can only hope for something just as nice for our 20th.
We can't wait to snorkel either ... we actually bought equipment this past weekend to start practicing. DH is a great swimmer and DS can swim ok, but he doesn't like to put his face in the water. I'm not that great of a swimmer, but I'm willing to try it -- especially since I heard you wear a thin life vest. That will put me right in my comfort zone! :rotfl: Now, off to the local pool...
I've read on these boards that Trunk Bay on St. John is the best place to snorkel on the eastern. Where is your favorite place?

Hi Disneymom&Fam
It is still just your family & us so far. My friend who goes on this board said that usually @ a year from your trip more people will onto the board.
I have cruised the Eastern Car. before but have not been to Trunk Bay. My daughter & I took a speed boat, snorkel excursion on St.John & really enjoyed that. I have heard great things about Trunk Bay.

Hi Deb! Hello 9/20/06 cruisers!
So excited about your cruise! I am trying to read everything I can about cruising in September. It seems to be a very good time price-wise to go. My 20th anniversary is in September 05 and I WISH I could be whisked away on a cruise. These boards help keep the dreams alive! ;)

Hello all!
We just got off the Sept 3rd Magic sailing and we re-booked on board for the 9-30-2006 Magic sailing. Yeah... we're pretty wack-O to do another Eastern again - but we are comfortable with these plans! :goodvibes
We had a DIS meet with 104 people - although I think only about 75-80 or so showed up for the initial meet. Then we hosted a private treasure hunt for the kids (many families chipped in with loot) and I organized a MICKEY ICE CREAM BAR speed eating contest. We had 12 partcipants (6 over and 6 below age 15) . I shot a lot of pix - about 305 photos of DIS activities or DIS denzions - which I'll upload in the days / weeks to come then post a link so folks can view the album. I have to allow the DIS folks who sailed a chance to review the photos privately so they can review and request if any should be withdrawn prior to public exposure/circulation for what-ever reason!.
So I competed in the above age 15 ice cream challenge and I suspect I effectively came in last place - BUT - I was more on the competition line as "fluff" than as a rabid competitor... heck I was the instigator behind this little bit of fool-hardyness! So- our "adult" winner polished off a micky bar in 1 minute 5 seconds. And I made "award certificates" for everyone - and we managed to get the Captain of the Magic to sign all of the awards! So everyone who participated got (or will recieve - since I have to mail a few out) something. :wizard:
If you wanna see some of the wack-O stuff we went through then check out the thread for sept 3rd 2005 and the "live from" thread... however I was not aware of the "live from" thread until late in the cruise.
So.... our family will consist of myself and spouse (both age 43 next year) and our two daughters age 2.75 and 5.5 by next September. If anyone joins our group and has kids of similar age (4.5 up to 6.5 or so) who might want to exchange private emails and possibly photos prior to sailing then this would be welcome. We did his for the past sailing and it was great fun for the kids and very constructive.
OK... I gotta go for now.... it is 12 midnite here in California but it feels like 3AM... no surprise, eh? :cool1:

OK, I thought I'd check in....not booked on this cruise yet but I'm thinking about it. I ran the numbers last night and if I rebook onboard during my upcoming Wonder trip (oct 2) and go for 2 catagory 12 gty (we have a family of 6), I might just be able to talk DH into it (a few drink-of-the-days first :rotfl2: ) . We were going to switch to RCL next year but if I take the discounts into effect, the prices are the same. Oh there might be hope for this cruise yet. :) Our family consists of DH, DW, DD17, DD15, DS9, DD6 (ages at time of 2006 cruise) My kids have a long fall break so they will be out of school that week.

Not sure yet, but seriously thinking about booking this date. My dd's will be in school during that time and that is my only concern!!!! My oldest will be entering 7th grade and my youngest will be entering 5th. They are GREAT students. I am going to call the principal tomorrow and check with them to hear their opinion before I book.
We are currently booked on 11/18/06 Western Magic. It is really too expensive. The 9/30 sailing will save $2,000!!!! We have sailed two previous times with DCL. We were considering RCCL, but DH feels safer letting the girls walk around the ship without us on DCL.
Hope to be joining you!!!!

Hi there!
We just got back from the 9-24-05 Magic (had a GREAT time!!) and we rebooked on board for Sept. 30, 2006 Eastern. I don't know if we will end up staying with this date, but I thought I would jump on and say hi. Another fellow DISer the 9-24-05 Magic rebooked on board for this date as well. I'll have to go show her that there is a thread started for next years! My family is me, my husband, my 6 year old daughter and 3 year old son.

My family just returned from the 9-17 Revised Wonder sailing and a week at WDW! :-)
We booked on board for this sailing. This will be our 4th Magical Disney Cruise! On board will be DH, me, DD 12 and DS 8 at the time of sailing. DD has always had a friend before we got on the boat to hang out with, so I would love for her to find someone again and DS to find someone also.
I have to change my tickers...but for now we are excited to hopefully be seeing the Eastern side for the first time!

We just sailed on the 9-24-05 Magic and booked onboard for 9-30-06. Our family consists of DH36, me36, DD8 and DS11. The scuba divers in my family are anxiously awaiting another sailing. Has anyone been to the Eastern Carribean before?
We enjoyed the last cruise but were a bit disappointed with the kid's clubs. We may end up switching to RCCL, but for now we are on this cruise date.

Howdy again!
I just went to the store to develop my 350 pictures. It's going to cost around $100. Ouch. Oh well. The pictures are from the Disney Magic cruise that we took last week. I like to make scrapbooks. Otherwise I would have just kept them on disk. I hope they turn out great. We had a fun time other than we were a bit disappointed that the kids didn't use the clubs much. We had so many troubles with the pagers not working, etc. When they would page us we wouldn't come because the pager didn't work. What a mess! So then they got nervous to ever go back because they were worried when they wanted out that we wouldn't come. They finally agreed to do it again, but this time we made a set time to come back and pick them up.
We also had a 4 year old that cried his eyes out for an hour. We told them to page us if he started to cry. They didn't. They said they try to keep them in there no matter what, because they want the parents to have fun! Despite me specifially telling them we weren't doing anything and this was just a trial period for the 4 year old. Therefore he absolutely refused to go back. That was the first day! So it sort of put a damper on the adult activities!
Anyway, I obviously had fun or I wouldn't have rebooked. I am just not siked about the kids' clubs.
Anyone out there from the midwest?
See ya later. Deanna

Hi All,
I'm DiDi. I just finished the Western Cruise last week and have booked us for Next Sept.30th for the Eastern Carribean. The Western Cruise was awesome, I met great people and I am looking forward to this next cruise. I'm not sure we will stick with this time frame, but I'm hoping. I am also going to get some DW park time in. The DH and myself are hoping to get at least 4 days in prior to the cruise. I'm a bit tired now so I end now and get back soon. Hi to all. :wave2:

Just to make it less confusing for the rest of you, Didi, Julie, and I were all traveling together on the Sept. 24th cruise. We met each other through our cruise meet from the last cruise. We had all of our dining reservations linked for dinners, so we were able to keep in touch with each other throughout the trip! It was great.
I'm getting ready to get a quote from Dreams for this cruise. I will see if they can beat any of the other quotes. That way I will have more money to spend at Shutters on the ship! That was my money pit!

When I booked with then I told them I wanted to go through Dreams Unlimited, I'm not sure if I would get a better discount if I went through them directly. I'm going to check into that today.

Well, I'm the big Disney nut in our family and we had another trip planned for Disneyland this October. Then DH says he couldn't face going one more time, "can't we just go somewhere for a RELAXING vacation and not be so rushed?" So, I suggested a Disney cruise (of course) and he said ok. :cool1: I picked September because it is less expensive and since DS will only be 8 and starting the third grade, I can still pull him out of school without much trouble. I would love to go to WDW too, but we just don't have enough time. I can't believe I'm flying into Orlando and NOT going there -- it'll be very hard to keep me away. Someday...

This date is tentative for us. I just rebooked and chose this as a ballpark date. I hope it ends up working out though. My husband and I went on the carnival cruise in 1998 for our honeymoon. We loved it and had a great time, nothing bad to say about it at all. The carnival cruise in Jan. is going to be just my mom and me. I have heard good things about their newer, bigger ships. About the ladies from my group - was one of them named Christine?? We didn't go to the Golden Mickeys that night so I don't know who was picked to be interviewed.
Take care.

We were at the Golden Mickeys but we weren't there early enough to get interviewed. So it wasn't my family! Maybe we should ask this question on the current 9-24-05 thread.
Disneymomandfan- I also took the cruise because I thought it would be relaxing. Don't tell your DH, but it was far from relaxing! Go here, go there. I couldn't keep up. Especially with kids. So much to do, so little time. Maybe next time will be more relaxing since it will be my second time on the ship. Less exploring and more sunbathing. Doesn't that sound nice? :flower:

Here is a quick review for you:
Wonder - we were on the four day wonder. not nearly enough time to get settled with 2 kids. But if you don't have the kids with you, that might be fine. We had fun, but we had much more fun on the Magic because we met people on here and had a better plan of what to do. I would recommend going on the wonder, esp. if you don't have the kids with you. I can see your guilt, but I would go anyway and have a BLAST! Glad you are talking on the thread for this cruise, I think it will only improve your trip next time you go!

I finally get the chance to say hello to you! We are the couple from NY Jeff told you about. I must add that Jeff, (Sooner), his wife and their two children are wonderful people! I will tell you that we had a great time on the Western Caribbean Disney last Sept. 24. This cruise, our first ever, took us beyond our expectations... What a magical time... My wife, daughter, 8, and I can't wait to go back... :earboy2:
Hopefully, I will be able to post some more in the oncoming weeks; perhaps some of us could meet before the cruise. (That way the kids will have friends already and we can start enjoying the "cove" sooner!) Isabella, our girl, had a great time at the labs. She took full advantage of that; she loved the recreation counselors and met new friends. We also were able to spend some serious quality time together, what a treat!
Take care, friends and talk to you soon,
Ahoy! :earsboy:

Howdy Alfredo! We were also on the same cruise. I'm glad your child enjoyed the clubs, because I haven't heard anyone else talk too positively about their experiences there! Sorry we didn't get to meet you on the last cruise!
Before our last cruise, I got to meet B&J's mom. It was a great time! I would encourage anyone to do it that live close to each other.
We also have a daughter 8 who will be 9 at the time of sailing. Maybe they should be pen pals!
Have a great day! Deanna

Anyone else sailing also a DVC member?

Deanna: Sorry to hear about your Grandmother. Hope things are getting back to normal for you.
Julie: My wife thinks it may have been Christine that we sat by the first night. Thanks for the info on your other cruise experiences. I almost booked the 4 day wonder for the two of us but guilt set in. We found a really good deal on the Costa Magica ship sailing over Spring break. It is a new ship (2004) and only sailed in Italy so far. They have a special right now in which kids sail free. We managed to book a week over spring break for 4 people for under $2000 including trip insurance. My expectations will not be that of Disney, so hopefully with that in mind we will enjoy it.
DisneyMom&Fan: If your husband enjoys the parks, he is going to love the Cruise. I found the cruise to be far more relaxing...At then end of the week just as exhausting (LOL).
Tammy: I was told that you have to wait to request a waiter when you board the ship. We enjoyed both of our waiters and if they are not teamed together then we will have to make a choice. Also, if we link our reservations with Alfredo, we might have to draw straws since he had a different waiter. As much as we go to WDW we should be DVC members. We did rent some points this past cruise and stayed at BWV. Very nice!!
Alfredo: I’m glad you joined up. Now if we can just get our wife’s to start chatting for us (LOL). Can't wait to kick back at Castaway Cay and drink a “Bahama Mama” with you.
Wow, not bad for an introvert Engineer.

Jeff - Look at you! You are soon going to be a crazed computer extrovert like me!
Your deal you got on your spring break sailing sounds awesome!! I agree, the guilt of going on a Disney cruise without my kids wouldn't fly around here either! Sounds like you all are going to have an amazing time. The price is certainly right. I want to hear all about it when you get back, ok?? I like to hear reviews of other cruise lines as well.

Oh my Gosh!!! I can’t believe I’m doing this but I am bumping this thread. I am starting to get worried about you ladies. Either I have offended you or you are losing interest in our cruise.
These forums are funny. You get an email notification every time someone responds to a thread your in. I then have to log in and see what was said. For some reason I now have to see the new post and like I am an expert after one cruise, I end posting to something new. Pretty soon it is like when I used to get a rabbit at Easter...They just keep multiplying.
Alfredo, do your self a favor. DO NOT venture out of this thread or, as Julie said, you will end up a “computer crazed extrovert” like her.

We haven't decided if we will do DCL excursions or just go out on our own. I wanted to snorkel at Trunk Bay, but DS isn't that great of a swimmer, so we will have to do something directly from the beach, not from a boat. We've also thought about renting a jeep at St. Maarteen. :moped: But, on Castaway Cay, we plan on parasailing and swimming with the stingrays.
Hopefully I'll have my home computer back up and running this weekend, although it may not be until next week sometime. Boy, have I been missing these boards. :teeth:
Sooner -- I'm glad you're an expert. ;) I'm not losing interest -- just the opposite -- I can hardly wait and I'm addicted to these boards (like most of us here). Maybe you can shed some light on whether to do excursions thru DCL or on our own???

Jeff, my good amigo extrovertido... :cool1:
Isabella says that she would love to hear from Kalsey. She has very nice Castaway memories with her. She wants a "play date". Do you want to meet half-way?
Deanna: What's your daughter's name?
Regarding Eastern ports, St. Thomas has http://www.godfreytoursvi.com (http://www.godfreytoursvi.com/) For $20.00 for the day, he will give a great tour of the island. He is highly recommended by my travel agent. She had a wonderful time, (she says she doesn't get commission on those tours) I will find out more on other ports later on...
I have come to realize that people that go on the Disney Cruise have to understand that you will not be able to do EVERYTHING! You must be OK with a decision to miss something like a show or a dinner one night. (Even a port) The main purpose, for me anyway, is to go and have some great quality time with the family, as well as having some time alone to be with your significant other without the guilt, since our daughter is having a wonderful time with new friends in a safe and fun environment . Perhaps some kids would love to go to the great labs and activities designed specifically for them but, they make a decision: "I want to be with my parents!" See my point?
Anyway, as we count the months and the days to meet at the Disney Magic let's send a positive thought to the people of Cayman and Cozumel in this new challenge with Wilma.
Talk to you soon,
Alfredo:wave:

Alfredo: "extrovertido" I think that is Spanish for extrovert. Right? This forum will do it to you. If you would like to meet me half way, say ft Lauderdale in March I will splurge for some nice tropical drinks as we sail into the sunset!!!
Julie: Yes, indeed that was my first bump. I used to be content being a soccer dad now I am bumping a cruise thread. When my wife finally finds this thread, she is going to suspect that something really is in that "pixie dust".
DisneyMom&Fan: I really do not consider myself an expert. I think Julie is the seasoned cruiser in our group. Having said that, here I go, I have not checked on the eastern ports other than what Alfredo had forwarded me. We went on our own the last cruise. We rented a jeep in the Cayman's and drove out to Rum Point Beach. It was amazing. We got to see pretty much the whole island and saw a lot of hurricane Ivan damage along the way. If I can save money doing it on my own, then I am all for it.
Take Care,

Alfredo - You are right. You cannot do everything you want to do on a Disney cruise. Just ask Deanna what happens if you try! :faint: I think we only went to 4 of the 7 shows on the Magic last time. It was nice to not have to rush to find a seat, we just did other stuff and had a great time. One thing I don't want to miss is dinner each night, I loved that, especially dining with fellow DISers. It really made the trip fun! :grouphug:
DisneyMom&Fan - Your port activities sound fun! I had never been snorkeling until last month in Grand Cayman and can I just say "WOW!" It was really amazing. Then I did it again at Castaway Cay, not nearly as exciting. I am kind of in the same boat as you are. My daughter couldn't swim well and ended up on the boat for most of our snorkeling excursion in Grand Cayman. She was scared go out there and couldn't hold her in that deep water and help her.
Sooner - the Cayman excursion you did sounds fun!
Cujobugs - Have you left us for good?!?!? :confused3

No, you haven't lost me for good. We almost switched the date of our cruise. So I didn't want to keep typing on here if I was just going to say "see ya" and move on to another cruise meet. So as for now, we are still on this cruise!
Alfredo- daughter's name is Carissa. I really need to find her a chat friend because she won't have anyone she knows in the groups with her!
My travel agent told me that Cozumel has no cruise docs after Wilma went through. So it is undetermined when Disney will be able to return there.
Julie- does that mean we were the last Disney cruise to that port? Or was there one after us after dry dock?
I feel sorry for the people that rely on the cruise ship business for their money. So very sad.
See ya. Deanna

I could just eat him up, but if I did I would be coughing up one heck of a big hairball. :teeth:

I also got my Cast Away Club member cards and the CD. I just love putting in the computer and listening to the music. Wish I was still on the cruise. I know, I'll play the music while paying the bills and remind myself the cost was worth it. :rotfl2: ;)

I think we are shelving our Disneyland trip...which I am so disappointed about. Dh needs to take some continuing education courses and there are two during that time, so it looks like we will have a non-Disney trip to Chicago. (gotta change the siggy...again)
However, I have booked a Vero Beach trip for early June...a long time between Disney fixes.

Hi Stacey and Everyone,
9 cruises! Lucky you! We have done Disneyland 7 times, Disney World twice and Disneyland Paris once. I am always planning my next Disney Trip. I'm obsessing about this cruise..... but in a good way because I am so excited!
It seems like a lot of you know each other from past cruises. That should make this one a lot of fun for you.
I do have a booking questions for anyone who could help. ...We booked one inside Cat 12 for myself and my son and one Cat 6 for my aunt and uncle. Would it have been cheaper to tell them that my son will be staying in the other cabin? He would then be the 3rd person and be charged a cheaper rate. Or would I just be charged a large single supplement that would even it out in the end?
Thanks and I hope to see you all there!

Hi Shell0616!
As far as your question goes - I don't know the exact answer, but I do know that they will charge you a higher fare if you are the only one booked in your cabin. I forget what % they increase it. Maybe you could call Disney cruise line and ask them, but I am pretty sure it would be better going 2 in each room. Sorry I don't know anything specific!! I know that you all will have a great time, it is so much fun!!! :sunny:

She will actually be turning 8 on the cruise, so we will have a birthday bash for her. The first couple days she will be seven, so I was wondering how that works. Will they make her go in the 3-7 year old club until she has her actual birthday? I'm so afraid she will be bored if they do that.
Any input will be appreciated! Neither of us has been on a cruise before, I thought this would be a great birthday present for her!

Hi, Disneymom!!
Glad you made it over here! :) I am sure there will be no problem having her in the age 8 and up Club!! If you register her online, you will probably have to do the 3-7 group, but when you take her there on the ship I'm sure they'll say she can be in the older group. They are really good about that.
You all will have a blast!!

Thanks, that's what I was hoping for. We plan on pal-ing around together as well, so one day is not going to kill her LOL.
Does anyone know if there are other single parents coming on board? We both are pretty outgoing, so not really worried about it. I just don't want to stick out like a sore thumb! I am told that there will be PLENTY (if not too much) for both of us to do! :earsgirl:

There will be TOO MUCH for you all to do!! Seriously, the first time I nearly drove myself crazy trying to fit everything in! :teeth: On the second trip, I toned it down alot and just had so much more fun. Hang out at the pool together, watch a movie in the theater(not that we every got that done), go to the family activities, play ping pong, order room service, walk the decks, explore the ship, shop at the gift shops, go to the shows, order some more room service, play bingo, while your daughter is at the club - go to the spa, go the character meetings - you will have so much fun!
Please don't worry about sticking out like a sore thumb. On our last cruise, there was a single mom with 2 boys that we met on our DIS cruise meets thread. They had such a blast!!!! A bunch of us ended up hooking up and going on a couple of excursions together on port days, we ate dinner together each night - it was great for everyone! :goodvibes

If they are due to turn 8 within a month of the cruise, they allow them to go to the 8 group...My DD will be in the 8yo group as she will turn 8 on Feb 25th
They may even do something special for her on her Bday!

Great! We sail on Saturday and her birthday is Monday! I am also hoping that they will do something special for her birthday. If I'm not mistaken by all of the posts here, Monday is the "formal" night? That would be fun! Also double-great that you have an 8-year old DD too. They will have to hook up!

My Daughter lost control on the ski slop and ran into a tree. Broke her neck in three places. We've been in a panic for two days. Thank God a specialist in Philadelphia saw her today and he said no operation would be needed. She'll be in a special body brace for six weeks at least. My stomach is still doing flips. My wife took today off and will also be with her Tuesday. She can not be left alone. I'll be with her Wednesday. and my DIL Thursday and my son Friday. Her husband just got a big promotion at work so we feel he needs to be there. I'm getting excited and I think I'm going to start shopping soon. :yay: Already keeping my eye out for an over the door shoe holder (my dollar store didn't have one, so I might have to spend the extra few bucks at Target). As are plans are right now, we are flying in the night before, renting a car from Budget and staying the night before at Ron Jons. We are taking the red eye and will arrive at 7:00 a.m. -- hopefully Ron Jons will let us use the room early that day (I haven't checked yet).

Hello  9/30/2006 cruisers! Been cheking out the boards for quite some time now so I decided to register and let the world know that I'll be cruising too! Cruiser will be myself, DH, DD 11, DS 4. This is our third Disney cruise, first 7day cruise. The first time was our honeymoon 2000 and I fell in love with DCL. Cruised with other lines and none can compare. My children are very excited about the cruise, tried to keep it a secret; I was too excited and spilled the beans. My daughter will be celebrating her 11th birthday on the cruise Oct 3rd. I'm really excited about it  and so is she. My son was 2 the last time we cruised and he still remembers the mickey ear(pool) that's what he calls it. He wasn't able to participate in any of the clubs then, so I'm pretty siked about his upcoming experience. We're pretty optimistic about September cruising, praying that there will be no Hurricanes, the price was outstanding (for a DCL cruise) so we had to book. We'll probably book while were on the cruise this time and get that $200 onboard credit. We weren't prepared ($) last cruise and left the ccards at home, but I'll be ready! Here's to a Great Cruise :sunny:

Woo hoo! Welcome aboard! I am fairly new here as well. I just booked and paid off the cruise. I am a single mom and and bringing DD7. It will be just the two of us. She turns 8 Oct 2 on the cruise too!
We are coming in the 29th and staying at the Doubletree Oceanside in Cocoa Beach. My ex-inlaws are picking us up (they live in Tampa and want to see us - haven't for two years) and spending the afternoon/evening with us, then they will see us off Saturday morning when we board the Magic!
I just bought my Passporter's, as this is our first time cruising and don't know what to expect. WOW what a load of information that book has, plus these boards are a TREMENDOUS wealth of information!

Hi All-
I am new to this forum, so glad I found it!
We are booked on the Magic sept. 30th also. We actually booked it while we were on the Wonder this past October. We went on the land/sea package and loved it. We cruised with some friends of ours and had a blast! This year, however, we are cruising without friends (their kids were NIGHTMARES and wouldn't go to any of the kids camps, UHHGG!) so needless to say, we are looking at meeting other cruisers. We have a son, 9, and a daughter, 5. This time after the cruise we are skipping Disney, sniff, and trying Universal and Islands of adventure. We are booked at the Hard Rock. Is anyone else doing a similar itinerary? Looking forward to chatting!

Do all 8 year olds play with Lego Star Wars?? :rotfl: My son is obsessed with those things -- especially the little mini-figs and, of course, the computer game. I'd love to hook him up with some friends before we go too. Danny will be 8 when we cruise and, as I said, totally into Legos, sports, video games. He makes friends pretty easily, so I'm not too worried about the clubs. I'm the shy one, so I guess I need to "hook up" too. Thank goodness DH is overly friendly -- he talks and chats enough for both of us. :rotfl2:

Hey DiDi,
Did you cruise on the Sept 24th Western last year? I kinda hit the boards
late last year, and did not have time to build any friendships. Welcome
everyone who is sailing. We had the time of our lives last year, and even
though we did not hook up with any disboard folks, we met so many nice
people. I am not sure about the barney board you mentioned?? My biggest
concern is the dress code on the beaches in St Marttan, and St thomas. I
know I might sound silly, but I want to be prepared for my DS4, and
especially my DS15 and how they are going to handle it??? I know that you
can link dinners too, but we are on second seating. Anyone else on second
seating??? We had it last time, and like it alot. We just fed the little guy by
room service, and or pluto's. he enjoyed the clubs too. No rushing around!!
Well lets get rolling with plans, excursions suggestions, etc.... Well, I have
to take my greyhound to see and orthopod, he broke his toe!!
Take care let's make the most of this cruise!!!

Hi Patti,
Should I be concerned too about the beaches? Are they nude beaches or topless? :confused3 I think I may have an issue too!!! I really don't want to expose my 9yr old to that. Please give me the scoop.
Yup, we went on the 24th of Sept. last year. It was an awesome trip, except for the fact that my FIL passed away while we were on it. We met so many nice people.
We have early seating since I can't seem to make it past 9PM. :faint: :teeth: I'm an early bird, I was one of those sick individuals who was walking at 5:30AM and made it to every sunrise. :sunny: :cool1:
My 9 yr is on my schedule, and the DH is the night owl.
Too bad about your greyhound. :dog: How did he break his toe? Last year's group was called Barney's Brood after my Maine Coon Cat, who decided to get sick and hospitalized. Let's just say I managed to get alot of Disney points on my card for the cruise. I now have Pet Insurance for the beast :cat:

O.K, all i know is that when you read some of the trip reports, and look at the itienerary for the Eastern cruise. It does state right under the description of the beach excursions" because of the European influence beaches are clothing optional." Now... a girl who works with me said that when her boyfriend and herself sailed RCL, it was all old people walking around in there birthday suits!! i just don't know. I've been trying to read some trip reports to see what the deal is. I will research some more. my greyhound broke his toe running around my yard like a maniac. He is a retired racer so it's in his blood. Alright well, I will work on the beach thing. I love the beach!!! Thanks for chatting. Oh, and i am so sorry about your

Kimmcbee,
Do you have a four-year old son? I think I saw in your post you do? my son Caden went to the clubs the last cruise, but it would be nice if had known another child to play with!! he loves lego's, and Star wars, and transformers. What does your boy like?

our 4yo is into anything his brothers are. Loves Legos and anything that makes noise. Would love to know someone else before we get there to introduce him to.

Would love to have the boys get to know eachother before we leave, but the boys have no clue what we are doing. My mom has a house in Fl so we are telling them we are going to vist for a week. But we are going to make a wrong turn, and she will be going with us.
Hope to get to know all of you better in the next few months and cant wait to all meet onboard.

Good Morning, :sunny:
I'm enjoying my first cup of coffee :cloud9: :goodvibes an thought I'd send a hello to everyone :wave2: .
I'm thinking of taking an extra couple of days prior to the cruise to go to DW. Are any of you going to do the same? Even though I enjoyed the cruise last year I sure did miss the parks. I think I need a fix on the rock in roll rollacoster and a few drops from the hotel. I really want to try the new ride in Animal Kingdom and scream when I see the yeti :scared1: !!! :rotfl2:
I'm right with you Patti, I'll be reading up on the beaches. Naked old people are not my cup of tea, gosh I get scared :scared1:  just seeing myself in my birthday suit. :rotfl2: Personally I like seeing tan marks so that I can compare my base tan to the other un tanned places of my body. :teeth: Not to mention the fact that some parts of this old body are sagging!!!! :rotfl2: I need all the support I can get out of my bathing suit!!! :rotfl: ;) :lmao:

Hi All,
We are leaning towards 2 nights at Ron Jon's before the cruise and possibly the Saturday night afterwards.
What's everyone else doing?
I'm not sure what the transportation is going to be yet. Any ideas?
I'm 40 & I still like LEGO's :rotfl2: To quote Jimmy Buffett: "I'm growing older, not up."
Next stop, Jet Blue.

:wave2: Hi everyone! Back to work today, but I thought I would check in with you all first. :surfweb: DS had the stomach flu last week, so we were home Thurs. & Fri., but he seems to be ok today, just a little slow in eating yet.
Didi -- that would be great to have our sons post. DS is always looking over my shoulder anyways. I'll get him set up with his own user name and let you know when he's ready.
David - We are thinking about staying the night before at Ron Jon's too. We are taking the red eye from the West Coast and arriving at 7:30 in the morning (the day before) :faint: and then heading straight there. We want to hang out and get REALLY RELAXED before the cruise even starts. If we have to pay for 2 nights to get the room early, we will. :thumbsup2
I just purchased our airfare yesterday -- Alaska Airlines had the only affordable non-stops that we wanted. What's that saying? It'll cost ya...

Just a few words before I go to work. We are going to the Ron Jon for a week in July. We really enjoy it there. Beach update: another dis'boarder just back from the eastern told me that when they went to Orient bay, there were a few topless gals, and one naked jogger. She said her little guy did not even notice, and here 13 y/o gawked a little, but otherwise she said the beach got crowded, and it was not a problem. I just did not want anyone surprises. I have my son graduating from High school in May. My sister coming to Florida in April, the Ron Jon in july, and the magic in september!!! What a wonderful life. :sunny:

Hello,
Welcome to the Martinez family, and Good Morning to All. We have to get some excitement going on this board. past cruisers know how absolutely magical a Disney cruise is. All the special little secrets!!! What staterooms do people have. We are actually forward this time. 7500. I have been in 6601, and 5544. I hope we do all right forward, my husband gets a little queasy!!! I enjoy being aft because of the Mickey pool, and the soda station, but i'm willing to try something different. Maybe we will make it to Palo this time, have not done that yet. :sunny: I went to a jewerly party the other night , and I got a real pretty necklace to go with my little black dress I bought last year . Ross, do ya'll have them?? Great store We had fun dressing up!! That's a good idea past cruisers maybe we can post some of our pictures!!! Let me learn how myself. Well, let's get excited, the weather is beautiful in Florida right now. Pretty soon 90's, but It's better than being cold
Have a great day Patti :hippie:

Howdy,
Just looking at the excursions..... I'm opting for feeding Flipper and swimming with him too. The cost to do it with Disney is $188.00 per adult it's a bit steep. Last year we went swimming with the Sting Rays and we took our own excursion it was much cheeper. I'm hoping to find out if we can get hooked up with another group so the cost will be a little less. Any thoughts out there? :scratchin :listen:
A must do for me is to visit Blackbeards castle.... arrrggg pirate: I heard it was a resturant, but has some history. Arrggg!!! pirate:
Of course I have to wait until 90 days til I book Palo's and my massage!!! :woohoo:

Sorry, but I've been two-timing you guys over on the Disneyland DIS board for our trip next month  , and I must say they sure aren't a lively and colorful bunch as DCL DISers here. party:
I can't wait to make reservations either, but I can't do it until 75 days out. I was thinking of doing the REAS, but it just isn't worth it anymore, so I'm taking my chances that we'll get everything we want, including the Rasul , Palo, and Palo brunch. I wasn't considering the tea, but that would be fun to get together for that. Count me in! :thumbsup2
We watched DCL on the Travel Channel the other night too. I think it is on again tomorrow (Sat.) as well. DH, DS and I all sat down to watch it (7:00 pst). After about 15 minutes DH fell asleep :furious: and DS went to go play with his Legos. :rolleyes2 I, however, enjoyed the rest of the show in peace and quiet. :cloud9:

Our friend Betsy should not be reading this, since I told her I love to cook. :ssst:
Hey Besty are you there? :wave2: I am rather jealous of you going to meet up with one of the Food Network chefs. I have to admit, that channel is on most of the time in my house. Now if I could only get Patrick to start cooking for me I would be all set. :rolleyes1 Forget about the DH cooking that man is dangerous. :rotfl2:
I hear you about the food on the cruise being a bit over cooked but for the most part I did enjoy it. Especially Palo's. I'm on board for getting a group of us together for tea. That would be a blast!!! How did the interview go?

Well after much indecision, we have finally booked our next cruise. Sept. 30-Oct7. 2nd DCL for me and DH, first one for two DD'S 10 and 14.
We are from Canada and are looking forward to our fall cruise. Although I am a bit worried about hurricanes and sea sickness. How rocky is it?
First time also booking with DU. The reduced rate staterooms were a real bargain.
Would love to go MNSSHP the night before our sailing...not too sure yet, we'll see how much the plane tickets will cost first.
We haven't cruised yet and I am already checking prices for oct 2007. How often do the prices on the DCL site increase? Is it safe to wait until we are aboard or should I play it safe and book right away?

Hi Claudine,
Welcome aboard fellow matey!!! pirate: I'm DiDi and I'll let you in on a little secret......last year was my very first cruise and I was terrified!!!!!!!! I was worried about being on a big ship and massive waves hitting us. Since I can't swim I have a little fear thing happening. The first day, I felt a little unsteady, I hadn't had anything to drink but I was walking like a drunk. :rotfl: :rotfl2: I finally got my sea legs after the first night on the boat and then it was smooth sailing. :thumbsup2 The sea was not rough at all, I felt like I was in my living room with great Disney decorations everywhere. I was hooked!!!! I have to say, the service was superb, the sunrise every morning was awesome. I'm an early bird so it was dark while I was doing my morning power walk. I do hope there are some fellow morning walkers?????? I met so many wonderful people and it truely was magical.
Though I will get trip insurance again just for the security of knowing that if the trip is cancelled due to bad weather I'm covered.

Maybe we can start a thread for the kids..we did that on the Halloween cruise and so bonds were formed before the kids got on the ship.
In fact, We are having a cruise reunion in July at Disney World. I am excited! I talk to some of them almost everyday on the phone and our thread is still going strong. I couldn't convince any to come on the cruise..they have older kids that can't get the time off school.
I accepted the job.. I went in with what I thought was a "Crazy" $$, thinking we could start negotiating there...but they just accepted it...makes me wish I had asked for the really psychotic $$!!! I start April 3rd. I have been at this job for 10 years and my boss has been very good to me through the birth of my daughter to my 2 recent surgeries, but I have no place to go here. It is about 45 miles from my house and even though he pays my gas, it is really a wear on me and my car.
My new bosses seem very nice and have no problem with the cruise..I think I will be very happy..I mean, if nothing else..I think the $ will sooth me!
LOL
Now, I am definitely gonna book a message in the new spa verandas!
Didi - Giada was suppose to come here 2 days before our Oct 29th cruise, but because we had no power or anything here, they postponed it. Alton was here in Belle Glade when he did his sugar show..I wished he would have done a book signing...We love him too!

I have a message board friend (kinda like you all, but I have met her) that lives about 2 blocks from him...she runs into him at her local bar and he now "knows" her..he actually stopped his car on a street in LA when he saw her and gave her a hug....
ok..now I REALLY sound like a stalker!!! LOL!
I AM giving up his 2 concerts that will be about a mile from my house in August..I am going to my cruise reunion at the end of July and with the cruise in Sept..I just can't see spending $240 for a concert when I have spa treatments to pay for!!!! LOL!
Ok..better get to "work"... Hate this....wish I could just go to my new job!! Too much tension here...my boss didn't take my leaving very well! :(

Hi Stalker, ...errr, I mean Besty!! ;) Believe it or not, I wouldn't even know if I ran into Dave Matthews or not. (I know who he is but just not into his music, I guess.) :confused3 What neighborhood of Seattle does he live in? Now, when I ran into Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters (formerly Nirvana), I just about pee'd myself!! We were at FAO Swartz toy store and we were looking at the same toy - some Star Wars thing for DS - and he started talking to me, so I carried on a small conversation with him. I was SOOO playing it cool, :smooth: like I didn't even know who he was, but I was totally flipping out inside! Well, that's my "celebrity" sighting.
Drinking tea this morning :surfweb: for some reason I feel the need to cut back on the caffeine :rolleyes2 Not sure if its making the cut... :sad2:
Patrick, Danny will be back on the computer probably this weekend. He doesn't get a lot of computer time unless he reads a lot. :teacher:
Have a MAGICal day everyone!

I've been busy getting Ron Jon's booked, getting insurance quotes & checking airfare and transportation.
What does everyone do when I'm not looking... Fill up several pages of posts.
Just a refresher: Me (aka Daddio, I mean David), DW - Kathy (DiDi's sister), DS - Stephen (almost 13) & DS - Chris (9, will be 10).
I read a trip report about Orient Bay & Wakiki (sp?) Beach. Anybody have any experience here? :confused3
Seasickness: When the ship 1st started out of port it felt a bit... wierd. But everyhting settled down very quickly. I didn't give it another thought all week. :thumbsup2
DiDi: I think as Castaway Club members we can make reservations 180 days out. Which is something like 2 weeks away.
If any of the kids want to trade e-mail with my boys, drop me a PM. I'll try to get Chris on. I'm sure I can get him excited. Are there any other kids around 13 (+/-) that like basketball? I know my son would love to find someone to hang with. I'm sure he'll be in the Stack quite often.
Gotta run...

Betsy, when do you start the new job? I do hope you took some time off between them, you know to rest and think of the cruise. :cool1: Hang in there with the old job, it's probably tough right now so I'll be saying a prayer that it smooths out for you.
Oh I am so not ready to book for the vacation yet...... the stress of it all!!! :scared: I'm definately going to Orient beach and renting a boogie board!!!! I love to ride the waves here in the NE beaches, the bigger the waves the better the ride.....the more I see my chiropracter!!!! :rotfl2: :woohoo:
Anyone celebrating a special occassion while we are cruising? I'll miss my birthday by five days, but I'll still celebrate. party: :rockband: :dancer: :drinking1
Hey Angela, how cool chatting with Dave Grhol... okay I have no idea who he is!!! :rotfl2: But I do know who Dave Matthews is and his music!!! :teeth:
I told Patrick that he would hear from Danny this weekend we just have to get Christopher up and running. David hurry up and get Chris going!!!!! Patrick is looking for him on the thread!!!
COFFEE, COFFEE, COFFEE :coffee: :hyper: ::yes:: ::yes:: Angela, don't go to the weak side, use the force :darth: drink the COFFEE!!!! :Pinkbounc
Kim, Patrick got the same surprise when he was 7 we got him up at 3 and on video we told him he was going to DW.... I still have it on tape. He said why? Then he told me he couldn't miss school. It was rather funny for us, but he didn't get real excited until we got on the plane. He's looking forward to meeting up with his new friends. We'll get pics up soon.
Betsy, does your mom know the good spots for shopping? Especially for the jewels!!! ::yes:: ::yes::
Have sweet dreams everyone!!

It is 90 days before for Castaway Club members & 75 days for 1st timers. Oh Well.
Did you know you can fill out most of the forms needed ahead of time and just print & sign 1 page to check in with? Pretty neat.
Gotta hit the sack.
Think warm gentle breezes, azure colored water.... aaah. Oh, don't forget the 9 & 10 year olds hopped up on soda & french fries!! v :jumping1: This was one of the best parts for my son last year. Gosh, you gotta love being a kid.

DiDi. You can't go wrong with the International Diamond Exchange. All the cruise lines recommend them. I bought a diamond tennis bracelet there in St. Thomas last year while on a Princess cruise. There is one on all the major island port stops. They guarantee that if it does not appraise out when you get back to the states, Princess Lines will make it good. That is the only piece of good jewelry I have ever bought, but it did appraise out for more when I got home. You can't go wrong with the Int. Diamond Exc. The cruise director always warn you about going to "Joe Blows" shops to buy jewelry. You could get burned, big time. Anne :surfweb:

Hi Kim and Joksten2000,
Boy, you all are so luckey going on prior cruise before the September 30th cruise. Please pack me in your luggage!!! :teeth:
I am so excited to go on this cruise, last year I didn't start posting until June for our September cruise. I'm starting a bit earlier due to a little problem called the .......I CAN'T WAIT SYNDROME!!!!! :cheer2: :cool1:
I really can't wait until the summer so I can work on my base tan for the cruise. You'll hear about my mad boogie boarding adventures every weekend!!!!! I think Orient Bay has some waves, and I'm looking forward to riding them with a boogie board. I do hope there are others who will like to go riding with me!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:
I'm hoping that everyone is having an awesome week.

Hi all. My internet service at home has been going in and out all week, so I wasn't online too much. :badpc: So, I'm sneaking a peek while I'm at work! :teeth:
The weather is getting nicer here too and we can't wait to get our boat in the water! We usually go boating every weekend if we can, so that's where I can work on my tan too! I'm REALLY pale and there is a LOT of me, so it takes some time :lmao: but by September I should be nice and toasty. :thumbsup2 :Pinkbounc
Our TV died last night, so DH is really excited  to go get a new one. It seems everytime we get a new TV it has to be bigger than the last one. What's up with that? :confused3 :confused3 I'm totally happy with our spare 20 inch TV and now he's looking at over 40 inches. :sad2: Of course this is one disagreement that I can't win!

There's a lot of me too :lmao: I'll be nice and toasty too by September. The dread bathing suit purchase is around the corner. Oh how evil it is, let's just say there is no two piece for me!!!! :rotfl2: I think I'll have to purchase some of that cellulite cream!!! :lmao: I'm wondering if it works....if it does I'll slather it all over my body!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao:

I'm having trouble trying to dig up good info on the various beaches during the cruise. Anybody got any good info on the beaches?
Still waiting for Jet Blue to release the schedule for after Sept 6th. Gosh I wish I could book my airfare. :badpc:
What's everyone else doing for airfare? Also, how expensive have your flights been?
Has anybody thought yet about door signs?

My Father has been out of the Rehab since Friday, It's been a not pleasent experience trying to get home care for him. Started looking and calling last Monday. Need coverage 7-9 am and 4-8 pm. The night is now done, seems nobody wants to get up early.

Only 5 months, 3 weeks and 4 days until our cruise!! I am getting so psyched!! :jumping1: I haven't really bought anything for our cruise yet, but I think I'll start looking at all the sales. Like Didi, I dread buying a bathing suit, much less having to buy 2!!
I bought our airfare -- $359 per person (ouch!) :scared: But, since we are flying from the West Coast I didn't have too much to work with :sad2:
I'm still thinking about Ron Jon's for pre-cruise stay, but I need to talk to DH to see if he wants to stay there or somewhere else in Cocoa Beach. He probably won't mind, but I like to stay on his good side and get his input. Then I'll go ahead and do whatever I want anyway! :lmao: :duck:
I've started looking into door signs -- mine will be on the less creative side. I don't really have the software to work with, so mine will probably be in Word format. But, I do have my Home Depot paint chips to play around with! :rolleyes1
Didi - have you guys been to Orient Beach before? We love the beach, but we haven't boogie boarded before. We live on the water, but we are in Puget Sound, so we really don't get any waves. I think we have decided that we aren't going to do any DCL excursions, just get off the boat and wander around on our own. I know that DH and DS want to rent jet skis and heard they can do that at Great Bay Beach (St. Marteen, right?). We also want to do some stuff at Castaway Cay, like stingrays and parasailing (not sure if DH can get me up there or not). Every time I think of parasailing I remember America's Funniest Videos and that woman that was dragged along the beach trying to get lift off. :lmao: Makes me crack up every time. I don't want to be that woman...
Ok folks, I'm just rambling on here. So, have a great day and I'll catch up with y'all later.
