from our local fireworks even with playing my WISHES CD to blasting it wasn't the same. No castle, no Main Street popcorn. When it was finished I told DD it's time to go home...her response "Really home? I can't wait to see Mickey"

Guess I have a young DVC addict!

After tonight the AP is literally burning a whole in my pocket.. use me now, use me now boy it's getting tempting, might have to check availability with MS for later this summer

Sandy,

That is so funny. My daughter and I pretty much had the same conversation this evening. Ah, but no hope this summer for us. I am just hoping to make it down for F&W. :Pinkbounc

Two towns around us put on pretty good shows this year.

Our girls said they wished they lived at WDW so they could see fireworks every night.

We lit off some fireworks this weekend and my dd told my wife that our fireworks were "low fireworks" and Disney fireworks are "high fireworks". She also wasn't impressed with my rendition of Wishes.

We felt the same way this year. We sat on our deck and watched what our neighbors did, but we didn't bother with any of the local "big" shows. Just too disappointing.

We did watch the shows in Boston and NY on TV. They looked fairly impressive and the music (excluding Mariah Carey) was nice. Not the same as Wishes in person, but nice. We pretty much always enjoy the Boston Pops.

Took the kids into Philly for the Elton John Concert and fireworks and pretty much had the same ho-hum reaction.

Now these were pretty darn impressive fireworks, (albeit at 11:30pm ) But didn't the 7-yr-old say, "That's nice, but it isn't as good as Mickey's"

LOL, we all said the same thing last night! "It sure isn't Disney"!

lol no one could understand why my 3 year old was only psuedo interested in fireworks going off all around us last night after the boat parade on the lake. I tried to explain they are "Disney spoiled" and it only got me more strange looks lol (5 year old said the boats were "beautiful" all decorated, but wasn't all that impressed either with the fireworks)

We are on HHI right now, sadly NOT staying at Disney (Westin, big disappointment). We watched the fireworks last night that were over the water right next to Disney. Very Lame! We kind of thought that maybe Disney would have a hand in the display, evidently not, based on what we saw!
We, too, thought about WDW and Illuminations while watching the very slow, boring display!

DH and I are the same way. At one point during our local fireworks we both turned to the other and said "We've been spoiled by Disney" at the same time.

Wouldn't it be great if Disney showed the big fireworks shows, and maybe even Fantasmic on the Disney Channel now and then? It would help pass the time between visits. Ahhhhhh, I can dream. :cloud9:

I was so impressed with the new fireworks show at DL that I purchased a DVD of it and I watched it again on the 4th.

We saw fireworks over Niagara Falls a couple years ago. My boys said they were OK, but not Illuminations, then gave a very unimpressed shrug as we were walking away.

Yep, told dd in WDW two weeks ago to watch all the fireworks there since there was no way that I was going to join masses of people on the 4th and watch mediocre fireworks!! So, there we were, in bed, watching the Pops concert and fireworks from Boston. (we actually went a few yrs ago and won't do that again!!) The finale was set to 'We Go On'!!! Both of us sat bolt upright in bed and screamed..."It's IllumiNations!!!!" Almost like being there. And since we saw the 'try-out' for the 4th of July fireworks for IllumiNations from our balcony at BCV on 6/23 at 1 am, I figure we knew what we were missing!!! Nope, nothing can compare with WDW fireworks.

I am not sure if someone else posted this on the DIS somewhere, but I thought it was worth sharing. This was sent to me by an online friend (another off kilter nut as it happens), I think you need high speed connection to view it properly, but it is awesome!:
