View Full Version : What's up with the Figment ride?

I can't say it ever did much for me. Although I have heard the new Figment was just a shell of it's former self, which explains why it was once popular.
I read the Figment area is walled up and no word on reopening.
Anyone heard anything?

It was open the last time I was there. I agree the first version was the best but I enjoyed all of them.

I have not been in Epcot for a few weeks.
Someone on another site posted they were there yesterday (Sunday) and this is what they saw at JIYI:
"construction walls up with the usual pardon our pixie dust"
They asked a CM about the walls. The reply was the JIYI ride is closed forever, as of July 1.

Can anyone confirm this?

:scared: Oh no! I hope its not true. Figment is my friend.

The official web site still has a link on the main Epcot page for JIYI and the ride isn't listed on the operational updates page as closed.

I checked on another board, and found folks who claim to have been on JIYI yesterday -- false rumor, I think.

We were at Epcot today and it was open. No barricades or walls around it.

Thanks. Now we know how rumors get started. ;)
I re-read the post that made me ask this question.
The OP wrote hisfamily was at Epcot. After that he referred to family as "they".
So this person must not have seen it themselves. And they were asking to see if it was true or rumor.
So I don't know what the family saw, bt it must not have been JIYI.
:wave2:
Wonder if they were at Ice Station Cool.

Minor facts

Original attraction was JII Journey Into Imaginagtion
Disaster (1st replacement) was JIYI Journey Into Your Imagination
Current incarnation is JIIWF Journey Into Imagination With Figment

Based on all the reactions, I don't think Disney will ever close JIIFW unless it will be a real major improvement (see next paragraph).

At the Disney Shareholder's meeting this year in Minneapolis I fired the opening salvo of the www.Friendsoffigment.org movement to bring back the Dreamfinder.

I just called WDW, and JITI is NOT closed. Anyway, the original ride was the best. We particularly loved the "white" room and the music in that segment. Makes you wonder why they messed with the ride to begin with! :confused3

Thank you! I always liked this ride, and it is one of the few that are inviting to kids! They keep getting rid of those in Epcot!

My understanding was that while many of us went on it for nostalgic reasons (heck I always though the Imagineer that hung with Figment looked like the Magic Burger King), that in general it was a skipped over ride and they changed it to try to make it more popular.

Now they failed, but I think it was because they underestimated the popularity of Figment himself - which now its fairly obvious they get.

Excepting when its current incarnation first reopend, I have never seen a line there and always just walked onto the line.

We were on it over the 4th of July weekend. They do have walls up around Ice Station Cool now so that must be what they saw.

OK, I was really scared. My son will have his first trip to WDW in October, and JIYI is one of our many stops. We miss Dreamfinder. I will agree, the first incarnation was the best!, The Bad Monty Python Fun house was HORRIBLE. It was like they hired out failed six-flags designers (or BBC executives) for the theme. The newest vrsion is decent, just as long as you don't compare it to the first version. JMVHO

We love Figment, and voiced our complaints every time we went after the original closed...

Cheshire Figment, do you know exactly how long the Horrible incarnation of JIYI was open? I think it was less than a year, and I am curious if it was some sort of recort for a closing...

One More question Cheshire Figment, The new Figment place... Where is it. WRT to the JIYI ride? I thought Soaring was going in on the right, and I can't remember a Kodak Picture spot....
