There will be 6 of us travelling in October to Orlando. 3 Adults and 3 children from 2 families.
We were thinking about making 2 different EA reservations for full size cars and then if when we get the EA if there is a mini-van available, we will cancel the second reservation (in the other family's name). We are only going to WDW for 4 days and really feel that we wont use 1 car, let alone 2. But we are afraid that the 6 of us wont fit in a Full size car (especially with luggage/strollers etc.).

I have that same problem so what we did was make the ressie with national for EA and also with dollar for a mini van using the KISS code and we got the rental for 39.99 a day. (ZL was 49.99 a day for van) personally I wish I could just use the EA but you can't be guaranteed that there will be a mini van on it. I would rather get an SUV for myself but with 2 strollers and all the bags plus having to seperate the kids we need a van.

I believe the cancellation fee to be $50 or $100 for no shows. This is proabbaly one of the reasons that a previous poster reported back stating no more mini's and SUV's we will packed on the aisle. Another draw back is that if you are using say the DC coupon code on both ressies, you are actually adding to the coupon capacity queue which could be blacking it out for others. I suggest if you really need a minivan, book just that wheteher with National or not. Just my opinion though.

What constitutes a no-show? If we cancel when we get there, is that considered a no-show??? To me a no-show is someone who doesnt even tell that they are not going to pick up the car...
I checked the prices for a minivan with National and it is cheaper to get 2 full size cars vs. 1 minivan. I don't want to be charged the $50- $100. Maybe we will end up with 2 convertibles!!!! ;)

A no-show is someone who just doesn't show up, no call nothing. I just looked at National's website. When I do a price quote for a mini-van it says there is a $50 (think it was $50) cancellation fee if cancelled less than 24hrs before reservation time, there is also a charge if you don't show up for that reservation. It is not showing any sort of cancellation or no show charge for a fullsize car reservation. This was just a regular reservation, not Emerald Club, but I would think it would be the same. It showed the cancellation policy on the bottom left on the screen where you get the prices.

If the cancellation policy is 24 hours, that will not work for us. I may have to do what Beverly Lynn did and make 1 reservation at National and the other at Dollar (but for another full size car). I will have to think about this one some more...

If you really need the bigger car, I would opt for the mini-van with Dollar. That's what I have done lately and I think if you get a good price code, you come out better in the long run. I joined FastLane at Dollar and I think their service is ever bit as good as EA with National. Last May, we went through National, and we were disappointed with their lack of help. Have not ever been disappointed with Dollar and their minivans!

Is that new I've never been charged for a no show. But I usually book a regular car.

poppins, the noshow is only for things like mini-vans and such, unless you request a gurarantee (I assume you can do this if you call, but not on website)
