Need help with attachment received in notepad

I know this isn't DIS related, but a friend sent an email to my hotmail acct wiht an attachemnt. when I opened it, it opened in notepad and it's just all this mumbo jumbo. How can I see it????

It really depends on what the mumbo jumbo says.

It might have been some type of word processor document for a program you don't have so it opened in Notepad which of course could not display it.

The other alternative is it's not a document at all but a program, or spreadsheet, a photo, or something else. Notepad of course could not display these types of files so it would just be mumbo jumbo.

You need to contact your friend and find out what he/she was trying to send.
