The point of this thread is that I want someone to explain to me why you would act all the "dark creepy I cut myself I have 47 piercings I love hot topic" way. Please. I just do not get it.

Hey now, I wear all black but I HATE that kind of music (except for the Japanese kind :rotfl: ) I'm more of a Big-band liker.

But, I know where you are coming from. I hate going places and seeing all of these little 12-year-olds dressing in these baggy pants and long chains and stuff. I don't know why, but those pants just irk me for some reason. XD But hey, it's really none of my concern what they wear.

I, myself, tend to be a dark person (Cynical, apathetic, pretty morbid LOL) but I, by no means, consider myself "goth". I just enjoy being very different, but now, it seems like everyone acts that way. T_T

But anyway, sorry if I've offended anyone. =(

Believe it or not, some of us are actually very interested / involved in the gore metal/industrial scene locally (wherever you might live). Personally, I am a horror movie fanatic and enjoy many fetish "acts".

And before you start talking about other people, take a look at yourself. I haven't seen anyone bashing you for enjoying Britney Spears or Good Charlotte.

I totally agree with you there. I don't mind seeing someone dressed in black. But once I see the huge ripped up pants, chains, peicings, mohawks, and the "not caring about anything" look. I'd rather people were caring and maybe didn't want to stay locked up from everybody feeling the world is against them. I wish I were born in the 1920's.

But I do happen to be a few years older and obviously at least a smidge smarter than you as I don't judge people just by the way they dress or act. Why not let the little teenies have their fun and dress how they want to? Are they hurting you? but i also agree it can be annoying at times- yes i realize i am contracting myself but when i see like 50 of those people in the mall by the wall watching everybody it is creepy.. those are the ONLY time when i don't like those people.

Since when does the way a person dress, or the music they listen to decipher who they are? Like two years ago I used to have black and pink hair, and wear clothes from hot topic, and even still I listen to that kind of music... But for the past 5 years I've worked at a camp for autistic kids because I love helping them... I also went to catholic school for 9 years, and come from a very religious family. You can't tell me that if you saw me on the street dressed like I used to dress that you would have thought anything other than OMG she probably cuts herself and blah blah blah... One of the very first things my mother taught me was to NEVER EVER judge a book by its cover... And I'm sorry but I find people like you VERY close minded and I don't think its very fair. Everyone has their own personality, they way they dress or the music they prefer does not necessarily reflect their personality. Don't judge that which you do not know. Basically, what i'm trying to say is don't judge people you do not know, that's hypocritical and just plain wrong. My main wardrobe is black and i have 6 piercings going right now, that does not mean I worship satan or like these bands that you speak of personally I listen to pop/rock and broadway music. I also have a lot of friends who are into the punk scene that have gotten judged by people before, and if you didn't know them you would think that they were bad kids, but they are some of the greatest people I know.

I don't wear all black, but some of my friends do... it is very offensive to be so stereotypical and tell us that those people are the way you described. I happen to know that they are the nicest people you'll ever meet. Now some people, however, are the way you described. Hey, can we lay off the stereotypical accusations of "i'm goth/i'm emo i cut myself for attention" ?? Not everyone who cuts themself is looking for attention. For some it's a way to control some aspect of what may seem like an overwhelmingly chaotic life.. I can live with not being on the same page as far as clothing or music interests, but cutting is a serious issue for some kids, and it's wrong to say that they all "just want attention" because that isn't true.
