Hi all,
I camped at FW when I was in college for spring break many moons ago.

Thinking of planning a trip with the kids now....
What do you think the best time to tent camp at FW is....
Heat ?
Bugs?

How much is the total cost for a campsite (per night)?
How are the shower facilites? I remember them as very nice.....

Thanks for any advice...

I find the fall or winter is the best camping at FW. Cool to cold night not many bugs. The shower are still Nice some shower areas have been updated. Cost $38-95 basic - Perferred

We're thinking about tent camping in the fall down there, up here in GA is too cold for tent but in Orlando is just perfect.

I recall many years back the tenters had a field they set up camp in for very little $ ... I suppose that has all changed and they're required to have an actual site?

November and March are the best months weather-wise. It will still be shorts and T-shirt warm in the daytime but will cool off after dark. 8/7 - 11/17 is value season so a site will cost 38/nt plus tax. All of March is peak season so the same site (partial hookup tent or popup) cost 62/nt.

I may be wrong but I think that is for groups like boyscouts etc. It is the "roughin' in kind of camping. Of course I could be wrong.

You are right about that. I don't know how things used to be way back when, but that grassy area is the group camping area now. All others to their sites! :earboy2:
