I have loved my solo trips in the past, but must admit I am dissappointed to be going solo this Oct :sad1: I was supposed to be taking DD with me but looks like she won't be able to get the time off work :sad2: But...I am still going to go ;)

I have never been to the Wine&Food Festival before. Has any one done any of the special lunches or dinners solo before? I am wondering if I'd feel out of place at the Party of the Senses or Lunch and Learn etc?? What do you think? I will go to MNSSHP for sure :) I went solo to a couple of the MVMCP's last Dec and had a great time.

So what do you think? What do I need to know for Oct?

but once you get there, you'll be into the swing of things!! Have never done any of the specialty meals at the F&W Fest, but sounds like a fun thing, especially if you're solo.

But the best thing about the F&W Fest is just wandering around the WS, sampling different foods and drinks from around the world. There are also some great seminars that take place at this time!!

We'll be there the first few days of Oct. - maybe we can hook up for some "grazing"!!! :teeth:

Travelin' tigger -"Grazing" sounds good to me :cool1: Thanks for the kind offer to meet up, but looks like we'll miss each other if you are going early in Oct? I will not be arriving until the 16th. I always love walking around the WS so this should be "extra fun" .

go look on the Dis meet board and see about joining a meet while you are there.

then you get to meet the best people on the internet - US!!!!

If you do it early and make friends with someone you can arrange to meet them later in your trip.

have a great one!

Hey katypop - Remember me? I should be around during your visit and would love to meet up for some "grazing" if you'd like the company. :cool1:

spiceycat-you are right...you all are the best people on the internet :goodvibes I have done a few meets now and have enjoyed them all. When it gets a little closer and I've hopefully booked a couple of special events at Epcot, I'll see if there are any meets happening on my "free" days.

Taswira :wave2: Of course I remember you! I'd love to get together with you again. We shouldn't have so much trouble connecting this time
I'll send you a pm.

Sorry Kathe, I take all the blame for that goof-up. Sorry to hear your DD can't make it (wanna take me instead?) :rotfl: . But here's wishing you have a wonderful time.

My Dad and I will be there from October 18-23 and are planning to attend the Party for the Senses on the 22nd. We've never been to that before, but if you'd like to try it and want someone to "sit with" :) you're more than welcome to join us.

Actually, my DH said he wanted to sit out this next trip and my Dad said he wouldn't mind joining me, or I'd be solo for this trip as well.

Hope you have a great food trip :cool1:

I'd love to take you Cassie :) Are you going back any time soon?
By the way, I'm sure I must share some of the blame for our "meeting mix-up", glad we all got together in the end and that we were all :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

I think Oct 22 is the only night during my stay that Party for the Senses is taking place, so if I do get lucky enough :wizard: to get a ticket I just may be there that night.

Kathe, I may be able to swing a few days just to keep you company for Food and Wine!! It would be a great hardship for me to spend a few days at WDW, you know, but if you need company, I would be willing to make the effort!

By all means let me know if you can "force" yourself to make a trip while I'm there :) It would be fun to arrange a meet or two. Have you been during this time of year before? Done any of the dinners or parties solo? I will be in the world from Oct16-27 :teeth:

You are all making me feel so much better about this trip :goodvibes

bavaria-does that mean you haven't been to MNSSHP either? Oops  did I just give you another excuse to visit in Oct ;) If you do make the trip maybe you'd like to join me at MNSSHP. I'm going on two different nights, I don't want to miss a thing!

Uh oh. How could I have missed MNSSHP all these years? Now I will really need to go...... :)

That should go on the 'excuses to visit WDW' thread I started awhile back.

My excuse for this month is that I REALLY need a haircut and my hair salon is at CSR. That merits a trip, doesn't it???

LOL Amy :earsgirl:
Seems I have all sorts of DD "wannabees" here at home too.Quite a few of my df and co-workers have offered to take her place, but I've decided the extra spending money will be spent on me :teeth: I'm thinking I can attend a lot of events for the cost of her airline ticket and food budget for a week!

How did you make out? Were you able to book the Party on the 22nd? There is a thread on the Dining Board" Epcot F&W Are You Doing Any Special Events" and if you start at page 4 there is some planning for a possible mini-meet if you're interested :flower: Wasn't sure if you had seen it or not.

Thanks for that info. I haven't booked it. I was all gung-ho, but then my Dad kinda talked me out of it a bit. It is a lot of money, especially because we're paying for wine we're not going to drink. I may change my mind before we go, but I think we'll skip it this year. There's always next year. I'm glad you found some other people though!

It's always nice to save something so you have an excuse to come back another time ;) There is so much going on I'm sure you'll have a great time. It is a lot of money, especially if you don't drink wine.

I just wanted to post an update here - as you can see by her posts, katypop was really really strongarming me! :rotfl:

It's 90% certain that I will now be going to WDW for a few days in October.

I am making the sacrifice so that she won't be alone during Food and Wine... and you all know what a big sacrifice it is to plan a trip to WDW!

Well, I'm going solo October 15-23, and I've got lots of food and wine
events booked. In fact, I thought you had a couple of the same events
booked the same as me from another thread about the F&WF.

Some of us are going to do the Nosh Around World Showcase with Mr.
Disney on 10/17. (The thread is out on the Restaurants board.)
Come out and join us! I'll be the fluffy redhead wearing the lime green
VMK wristband. :teeth:

At any rate, I'll be at the Party for the Senses on 10/22. You should be
able to buy into the PFTS when you arrive. It doesn't usually sell out,
as far as I've heard. I'll be checking in at the entrance usually around
6pm.

I don't have any problems doing the special events solo. I did it solo last
year. But some of my friends were able to join me at the PFTS and a
food and wine pairing. :)

Lets see...I have 3 weeks to convince you for the other 10% !

BriarRosie-You are right, we do have a few of the same events booked :)
My original post in this thread was made some time ago, and since then I went ahead and booked a few events and have planned a couple of meets with fellow dissers :cool1: (hopefully Bavaria will decide to come and I can plan some more) I am also attending PFTS on the 22nd. I am attending the Dinner at Citrocos on my arrival day, Oct16. I think I remember you saying you had booked that as well? Can you believe it is getting this close?

Yep! I'm doing the Signature Dinner on 10/16 and PFTS on 10/22, with
4 other dining events in between. :earseek:

Make sure you say hi :wave2: I'll try to remember to tie a green ribbon on my purse on the 16th, but in any case I don't imagine there will be too many solos for the dinner :confused3 This is my arrival date so I'm stressing a little that my flight might be delayed, especially since I'm flying NWA, but the flight is almost fully booked so I'm thinking it's not likely?

Less than 3 weeks to wait now :cool1:

Hi, Katypop, remember me? Looks like I'm going to miss you by a couple of weeks. I'm on the Wonder 11/6 for 4 days then heading over to WDW for the final weekend of the F&WF. I was on my way to the meets threads, looking for someone to play with (outside of the parks) on the 10th, when I saw your post. Sounds like you've got some meets set up.....you know you'll have a great time!

Hi Jackie :)
Of course I remember you! That was my very first meet with other dissers at wdw :goodvibes I do have some meets set up and am so looking forward to my 1st MNSSHP and F&WF. Only 5 more days, yippee!
Are you going solo this trip? Lucky you, the Wonder and WDW :cool1:
Hope you find someone to share your day on the 10th. Maybe we'll be able to get together again on a future trip.
Hope you have a great trip too.

I'm attending a conference at WDW...arriving on Monday, October 24. Planned to visit MK after check-in. Have all day Tuesday available and planned to do whatever until my 4pm reservations at Liberty Tree.

Wednesday my conference begins at 9am and runs until 12noon. Have dinner reservations at Mama Melrose's for the Fantasmic Dinner.

Made reservations when friend was coming with -- and now she is not. So, I have reservations for 2 for both events.

DH and DDs are unable to attend with me...so would love to meet up with another Disney fanatic and enjoy the Disney experience.
