Okay, I think there are enough of us who are interested in doing something now. Let's see how it goes!

Summer Card Swap

**Please prepare 5 full cards, blank inside, with corresponding envelope. Please also include in each envelope a small note with your name, DIS name, and email address, so that people can contact you if they want to know how you made your card or to praise your beautiful work!

**Groups of 6 (this will put less pressure on people who are short on time this summer) -- you will not receive one of your own back, so if you want one for yourself, make one extra.

**Deadline to sign up: July 1st

**Deadline to return: August 15th

**Packaging: Place swap items in a large baggie for waterproof purposes.
Write your real name, DIS name, and swap group name and include in the baggie.

**Swap Return: Send a self-addressed stamped envelope for return mail purposes. The amount of postage on your SASE should be the same amount that it takes to mail to the swap hostess. To insure that enough postage will cover the returned swap items, include one additional stamp (23 cents) for additional postage which will be returned if not used. I am estimating it will be about $1.29 to $1.52, depending on how heavily embellished the cards are.
***If you are participating in more than one group, you may want to send a $3.85 postage stamp or $3.85 cash and I will mail back to you in a flat rate priority envelope.***

I will start with 2 groups of 5 and add additional groups if there is interest. If you want to participate with more than 1 card, I will put you in 2 separate groups. Please reply with the type of card you are making. Styles can include but are not limited to:

Sorry it's not clear. You make just 5 cards and will receive back 5 cards from the others. I guess then it would be groups of 6 people, actually... (you would not get one of your own back.).

My cards are definitely homemade but not stamped. I guess, they are more scrapbooked like... Here's a thank you Xmas card I made:

I usually make my card the standard thank you card size, decorated completely on the front only with a blank inside. Is this ok? I could do them bigger but like the look of the thank you sized cards.....I think its 4 1/2 by 5 or something like that.

Standard size is normally 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. When I say full cards, I mean an actual card... versus front only (which is done in some card swaps -- then the recipients will adhere the fronts to the blank card of their choosing once they get them).

I think most people make the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 size. I have some of the larger 5x7 cardstock but prefer the smaller.

hey, since I had to park at the post office today for dance class for dd and it's customer parking only (and I really didn't want my car towed) I mailed my cards for group one out today. I was wondering what everyone mailed theirs in? did you use manila envelopes or a harder mailing envelope, then folded a stamped/aaddressed one and put it inside? I just don't want the cards to get bent in mailing?

I think I mailed mine in ziplock bags (individual) and then put them into a big ziplock bag and then put that into a flat rate priority mail cardboard envelope. maggie

ETA: I have received her address.

So I have my cards all finished and ready to go. I was going to go to the post office today. However I am missing a very important detail in the mailing process. I don't have an address to mail my cards to.

I checked my email account and I also checked my PM box but lo and behold I do not have an address to mail my cards to. I am certain they were PMed to people however since I was the last one to sign up I think I was never sent a PM.

I don't think mailing them to Joy AKA Bubbasmom99: Elk Grove, CA will get them where they need to go. If someone could please PM me Bubbasmom99's address that would be a great help. I will try to mail them ASAP, once I have the address.

I am just quite busy the next few days and had planned into my schedule to mail them today and was unable to send them. I am sorry if I delay the mailing since I didn't have an address to mail them to.

Mine will go out on Sunday, so should be there by Thursday at the latest. Sorry I am late. Had them partly done then my daughter's baby came 2 1/2 weeks early at a healthy 8 lbs, 2 oz, so that meant I went out there to help them earlier than plannned. Since I have been home I have been busy getting ds12 ready for 7th grade and to football practices every night of the week! I was glad when it rained last night and we didn't have to go! (Am i bad or what?!?)

No, I saw yours... I think I used it. Some of the cards were larger than 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 so I wound up using extra stamps on most of the stamped pkgs. I think I'll save myself the headache and require priority mail stamps next time, lol.

The extra stamp I have is a self-adhesive regular flag stamp.

I'm 99% sure, that's mine. I had put a sheet with quite a few stamps in and also one loose stamp. Don't worry about it, use it on someone elses swap or for something else. It's only 37 cents. Thanks again for hosting, your time is worth much more to me than 37 cents.

Oh, no, the people that sent $3.85 were fiine because it's flat rate and everything fits in the envelopes just fine. The people that sent regular postage are the ones I was having trouble keeping track of, because I had to weigh each one and see if it required more postage. It's really just work on my part and I tried to be as organized as possible, lol. The reason I didn't specify priority mail stamps was because some people are only in one group and swapping just 5 cards only is $1.29 or $1.52ish.

I meant that I was putting extra postage that was sent to me on the envelopes.

Got my cards--they are so cool! Now some friends here want to have a scrap night where we make cards. Even some nonscrappers want to do it, so we will probably have scrappers bring thier odds and ends and tools, have nonscrappers provide card stock and adhesives, embellishments. shoudl be fun!
