Mysterious is basically "surprise me"???
I am excited! LOVE IT!

I just want to verify what I plan on doing is right. I am in the store bought group 3. I pick out a suprise item(s) with the theme of Winter for all 10 people in my group. Since it is store bought, I don't alter or change it in any way, right?? I divide it into packages and send it out on its way. Sorry if this sounds dumb, but now that I have thought about it it seems to easy and good to be true that it would be this simple. Thanks in advance.

got your pm, thanks. Also just to clarify, if you are in more than one group you can certainly send all your stuff together with postage to cover the return. I will return everything together in one package. (so if you are in groups 1, 2, and 3 for example, send it all together, clearly labelled for each group of course) and I will send it all back that way). maggie

I've bought for mine too. I should have signed up for another shopping group. That's just too easy and lots of fun! I say let's do this again sometime. What a great idea!

I know, this is so fun and easy. Just buying stuff is much easier (and cheaper) than making 24 of a bunch of things! I'm having so much fun.
Oh, I have a question. How does everyone ship eyelets and brads, etc? 10 eyelets are pretty small. Do you use small bags? I had some at one time, jewelry bags that I got from ebay. I wonder if I can find anything like that locally? How is everyone else handlign that?

06-21-2005, 09:13 AM
Christina, I found those little bags at Hobby Lobby during an out of town shopping trip. Wal Mart may also carry those little baggies in the craft section. I'm thinking I saw some of them there recently. Speaking of WM, I found all sorts of goodies on their clearance rack in the crafts section the other day. Cute Rebecca Sower thingies (little brown suitcase) for 75 cents and stickers for 25 cents. Lots of ribbon for 75 cents, and also got 500 eyelets in a pkg. for $3!
ETA--Does that help, or just enable? ;)
christinadei
06-21-2005, 09:19 AM
Normally it would just enable, but we make a weekly trip to walmart, and I head straight for the craft clearance section,s o Ithink I already have one of each of anythign they have on clearance, hahaha. But thanks for the idea, I'll see if I can find them there. Maybe I'll luck out and find them at home. But since it was about 2 or more years ago since I bought them and who knows when I last saw them, I'm guessing not. So I'll try to squeeze in a trip to walmart to try to find them. Unfortunately, we have no Hobby Lobby, boo hoo.

I've got all my shopping done, just need to put together the tags. How big shoudl the large tags be? I went to get a template for my shape cutter, and it was HUGE. I'm thinking I'll just make my own tags by cutting rectangles and angling the end? I was thinking of making them around 2"x3". How big is everyone else making them?
christinadei
06-21-2005, 12:51 PM
I just wanted to let everyone know, in case anyone else needs any small bags, that I got 100 1.5 x1.5" ziploc bags on ebay, buy it now for $.99. IT was only $1 s/h, so only $1.99 for 100 bags. There are all kinds of other sizes too, pretty much all of the small ones were that price. They had 1x2, 1x1, 1.5x2, 2x2, etc. I'm sure 100 will last me a long time, since i really only need 20 for this swap. But hey, that's just more motivation to do another one, I've got to get my $.99 worth out of the bags :rotfl:

I am doing small tags and I thought they would be 2 x 3. I have been in swaps where the large tags were more like 3 x 5. Maybe I am wrong. Please let us know so we can make them the right size.

Hmm, I made the tags last night and I guess they may be considered small? I didn't measure them,b ut they are about 2x3.5 or so. What if I just make more and send 2 of each? Will that be okay? I started to make them bigger, but I thought that they may be too big. Sorry, I'm new at scrapping for swaps, I normally just do what I think looks good and that's it, haha. I'll just make more, if that's okay. They didn't take too long anyway. I'll get started on them, and as soon as I get the small bags in for the brads, I'll have everything shipped off. Sorry, I guess I signed up for large tags and ended up doing small tags. My mistake, I'll know for next time. Or I can just do large ones instead or to go with it. Maggie, let me knwo what you t hink. I have plenty of supplies and stuff, I can just cut larger tags.

Maggie, I need just a little guidance. I never heard of book pockets until this swap, but I love to try new things so that's what I'm doing.
What, exactly, are they? I did a search on twopeas for "pockets," and all I came up with were pocket pages and smaller pockets that they called "library pockets." Is that what I'm doing? The library pockets? And, do you have a preference as to their size? I wasn't sure if there's a standard size or not.
If library pockets isn't what I'm doing, could you point me in the direction of other "book pockets"? Sorry to be such a pain, but I want to get this right. :sunny:

Yea! I got my paper and some of my embellishments ordered. Thanks for the template, Maggie! Didja know that Bazzill makes library pockets in several different colors? I found them, yesterday, at gonescrappin.com while searching the internet. I thought about just going with them, but then thought, nah! I want to do this, myself. I can't wait for my stuff to get here so I can get started.

I was kind of stumped with my project although I knew I wanted to do paper tearing to represent water, waves and sand so I thought I would do a search on www.twopeasinabucket.com for journal boxes and I got 8 pages of JBs......

I bought my boyish fibers, but I am having a hard time with my "magical" theme. Nothing is really coming to mind except Mickey things - black, red and yellow. I really want to do something different. I am getting tired of using those colors for swaps, plus I am in a CJ and will probably be doing a lot with them there. Any ideas ladies? I have small tags so I need to make two kinds.

For magical, I'm thinking silver and/or stars. There is some cool cardstock 12x12 paper at michaels that's matte silver with shiny silver starts that woudl be great. They also have some blue paper of the same. You could get each color and do one silver and one blue or something like that. otherwise anythign sparkly/silver or stars would be good for magical, I'd think. I did small tags and it only took one page of each (top and bottom layer) so 4 12x12 pages total for all of the tags (20)

I asked my family what colors they thought of when I said the word magical and got a variety of anwers, but they all said blue as one. I did find a patterned paper with blue background, lighter swirls and pink and yellow stars. DS said it looked vary maigical. Still looking for another. I will try Mike's and some of the LSS's around here today or tomorrow.

Joy, Did you check at WalMart? I was there on the 4th and there were still some patriotic ribbons there. Not as all-out cute as things I'd seen at Mikes or JoAnns, but nice all the same. :)
I thought you might be able to find something at http://www.BargainPack.com but the only ribbon she had was red gingham and another with a stripe each of red, white & blue. I was surprised since she has so much other patriotic stuff!
Speaking of WalMart - Do all of your WMs have a clearance section within the craft section? Or is it somewhere else in the store? A while ago ours had a few items on clearance right in the craft section, but that was unusual. I've never found any other craft stuff on clearance...except at Christmas and that doesn't really count. I feel like I'm missing something. :rotfl:
