Hi
Someone on the UK board has suggested there's horrendous roadworks on I4 between Orlando and Tampa. We leave in 12 days and normally drive to Busch but the poster suggested this may be a bad idea due to the roadworks.
Can anyone shed any light on these or has anyone travelled over this section of I4 recently ?

Yes they are working on that stretch of road. Just allow extra time. At night they close down lanes so the traffic is even worse.

I just drove from Orlando to Tampa on the 9th of June...yes there was construction but still able to get there...depending on the time of day it may be worse then at other times...
just leave with time to spare

It all depends on the time of day you're traveling. The last few times I've headed to the Orlando area, it hasn't been so bad. I have actually made pretty good time.
There have been times that I have left the parks in the evening and it's taken more time to get home than it should have due to the lane closures.
The really bad area is between exit 31 and Exit 43. Of course there is ALWAYS a back up just outside of exit 55. Take your time and take it slow, you'll be just fine.

Thanks guys.
Can you estimate how long it may take then ?
We're staying in the Seaworld area with easy access to I4 and would like to be at Busch close 9 am. If we leave at 7.30 am is that about right ?
Not so fussy about the return journey.

Well if you're traveling on a week day, allow 2 hours, on a week end, shouldn't be more than 90 minutes.

If you are traveling at night on I-4 between Tampa and Orlando expect delays. There are lane closures at night which will add travel time.
