My DH, DD12, DD7 and I have reservations at POP from Sun. 6/26 - 7/2. We just found out today that we are going to be able to leave for WDW a day early. If we can't get a room at POP, we will have to stay off-site for the first night. If any of you have done this could you give me some information on hotels close to DTD, location and pricing if possible.

Hello - It depends when you are getting in. Will it be late? Last summer we flew in late and went on priceline for about $35 and got a decent hotel by the airport.

What is your budget? That would help w/ where to recommend.
Also, what time will you be getting into FLA? There's always the Hyatt at the airport if you just want the closest, but it can be pricey.
If $$ is no concern, then try one of the fancy hotels like Hyatt Gr. Cypress or Peabody orland (and watch the ducks march); or maybe another WDW hotel to preview it for a future trip (always thought about doing this at AKL)

I like the Kissimmee area - very close to WDW.

I enjoyed Laquinta Inn lakeside

www.laquintainnlakeside.com - looks like best western has hijacked this website -

you can still find it here
http://www.lq.com/lq/index.jsp

try the first link several times - why - because sometimes it has excellent rates on that side.

also try

we just stayed at Caribe Royale last week. It offers a bedroom separate from a living area with pull-out sofa. All 3 of our kids (almost 12, 9 & 6) LOVED the pool slide. They said it was "way better" than the Poly slide! Only downside was overpriced food. However, there is a Ponderosa directly acroos the street with a $3.99 breakfats buffet. The kids LOVED it (when else could they eat jell-o and ice-cream for breakfast?! It is a VACATION after all. :rotfl: ) Also, the Caribe's sister resort, Lake Buena Viasta Suites (directly next door) offers a free breakfast if you stay there (we did not see it, so I don't know how it is). The mousesavers.com website has some good rate for these resorts and they were a direct 5 minute (if that) to the WDW and DTD. Good luck! :flower:
