Um. Well this is a bit eerie. I just got back from Alumni Reunion Weekend this past weeked at DePauw. I was an SAE, class of '04. Glad to see another Tiger on here! Where are you looking for law school? Let me know if I can be of any help to you when you are applying in the next couple years.

Whats your name? I was on campus as a freshman when you graduated and I know quite a few SAE's. Most of my floor went SAE.

Not sure if I'm still allowed on the college board, but I'm a former law student ;) Graduate of Dalhousie Law School, Halifax, class of '99; called to the Bar (aka 'admitted') in 2001.
I'm considering calling Disney Legal Department and asking for a bit of a talk-and-a-tour of the Department while we're visiting. My new practice includes corporate law (albeit for a municipal/government corporation) so I can rationalise this as legitimate professional interest. :rolleyes1 I don't think I can get any continuing legal education credit hours, though :-)

I am currently taking a BBA concentrating in both legal studies and finance and I am looking into possibly going into law upon graduation.

RedRuby I currently attend Cape Breton University, or you may know it as UCCB, so I am not very far from Dalhousie. :)

Former law student here. Graduated in 2002 from law school in Cali., clerked for 2 years, and now am in private practice (appellate litigation). If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me.

Completely unsolicited advice, but I would recommend some of the third party writing/studying courses that you may see advertised when you first get to law school. Without exception, the people who took those courses and applied the principles did substantially better than others.

Law school texts and professors are meant to complicate issues-- help you learn how to think critically, how to recognize logical loopholes. Exams, however, are very practical-- meant to see if you can state the rules and principles succintly and clearly on paper. Thus, how you prepare for class can be substantially different from the way you prepare for your exams. These courses help you apply those two different approaches in an efficient way.

By the way, no one is good enough so as to not need study guides. No one would hire a lawyer who didn't canvass all available sources to understand their problem (case law, treatises, briefs filed in similar cases, CLE materials). Why act differently in law school, relying solely on what you learn in class? Buy study guides(used or new), borrow other people's outlines, incorporate class notes and principles, and memorize it all before the exam.

I am a newly-former-law student (graduated this past May) I am currently studying for the bar (well, right now, as you can tell, I am PROCRASTINATING studying for the bar!!

I'll be entering private practice in Intellectual Property in August (assuming, of course, I pass the bar :-))...

This is kind of odd...I'm not used to seeing posts of people asking about Belmont students...but I am one! I'm a junior at Belmont (International Business and possibly double major in French), but I'm taking a semester off to do the college program at Disney. I'll be back in January- ready to cheer on the Bruins during basketball season!

I'm at Mississippi College. While I can't wait to graduate, I'm also scared to take the bar! Well, really, I'm scared I'll fail the bar! I've just heard so many horror stories.

The transfer students at my school liked Cooley ok. They just wanted to end up at a smaller school.

Hi! Congrats on your weight loss! Your beginning weight and goal weight are exactly the same as mine, but I'm having trouble staying motivated. For a while I was going to the gym 3 or 4 nights a week, but after working all day and getting out of class at 9pm, I was too worn out to keep going to the gym that late at night. I'm taking this semester off though, so my plan is to get back on track with my workouts. Great job on your success and I'm sure it will continue for you! :thumbsup2

Thanks alot Holly:thumbsup2 I must admit I have strayed several times on this diet, but I'm getting married at Disney and I really need to lose the weight. I too used to go to the gym 3-4times a week at University, but I was so exhausted I just couldn't keep going. I then bought an elliptical trainer, which I can now use whenever I want! I gained weight again over Christmas, due to all the gorgeous food that I just couldn't resist, but I'm now back to what my ticker says:banana:
I have a gorgeous Wedding Dress so I have no excuse, I have some time off just now myself, so I'm doing my best to stay on track also.

I too had considered buying an elliptical trainer so I could workout when it was convenient for me, but my house is too small. :sad2: But I'm sure with having this semester off, I'll get back to the gym. Good luck on your continued weight loss and your upcoming wedding!
