Will anybody else be there a few days ahead...?

Anyone arriving anytime during the week ahead of the convention? I plan on spending at least a couple of days there beforehand , I'm also contemplating whether I can afford to be there as early as Thanksgiving.

I'll be at the Yacht club for the convention but any time before that I'll book for CBR. Anyone else...? I'd love to meet up with someone and spend some park time or go to Downtown Disney or experience a restaurant.

Barb, I think a dinner meet sounds great! We have plenty of time to play with some ideas...how about Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge? I've never tried that one before and it might be fun to go with a group.
Whatever we decide, I'll make a PS for our group at the appropriate time.

Anyone else? I'm open to suggestions of all kinds for the days preceding the convention, maybe even meeting at a pool with the kids...am I right in saying that if I'm staying at CBR I can have guests from other Disney resorts join me at CBR's pool or vice-versa? (don't wanna get in trouble here :D )

We can do a resort tour....

Another idea...spend some time at Universal's City Walk...? I'm sure some of us will have cars...I'll have my station wagon that holds 7 so with myself & 2 kids I can take 4 people along.

We'll (DH, 3 kids and I ) arrive on Monday afternoon (the 26th) and stay at the Dolphin. My tentative plans are to relax somewhere outside the theme parks on Monday, and visit IOA/USF on Tuesday. We're flying home at noon on Dec. 2nd, but I COULD be persuaded to hang around a few extra days solo!

Well our current plans have us arriving late on Saturday night (I think it is the 24th). We will actually be using the 3 days prior to the convention to check out the rest of Orlando. In our previous trips we have never left Disney property except to get to the airport! :eek:

We will be staying off-site for 4 nights prior to the convention but an evening with DISers sounds like fun. :)

Donna, Whispering Canyon is one of the places I was thinking of, too! That would be a lot of fun. Whispering Canyon is on our do it every time list! :) My family loves barbecue! It's a fun place to eat and things can get very loud and very funny. They have activities for the kids, too. We have to make sure somebody asks for ketchup!! ;) Now we have to see how many are interested. Who else would like to join us? :D

I did my first solo trip in December 2000 (11 days at WDW and the 3-day DIS cruise) and had a great time!!!
It's the perfect combination; I get to meet people from the DIS and have time to spend on my own (it's really nice to do whatever you want to do, when you want to do it!!).
But of course, I would be great if Marielle could come to the DIS convention. :cool:

I just returned from eating at Whispering Canyon with a big group at Glo-Con. If you've never eaten there, it's a fun place to go once - though I'm not in any hurry to go back. The food is rather pricey, and the restaurant is VERY LOUD!
