Hi everyone

My name's Rhiannon and I can usually be found on the Disneyland Paris or UK Community Boards, but I have been reading posts on here for the last couple of weeks and it's great to find this board and see some new names on here! :disrocks:

I have just started to cross stitch, which is how I came across this board, but I've noticed there are not a lot of posts about cross stitch.

I have about 10-15 Disney cross stitch patterns so far, some big, some small, some simple, some a bit more difficult. I'm looking to build up my collection and was wondering if anyone else had any other Disney patterns they would like to swap with me? I could scan them and send them to you via email (well I could try!) or send them in the mail, although I live in the UK I don't think it would cost much at all as obviously the patterns do not weigh much.

If there is anyone who would be interested in swapping patterns, please post on here or PM me!

Thanks everyone

Rhiannon :wizard:

I have a couple...both Mickey playing baseball. I'm almost done with one, but haven't even started the second one. I haven't done as much cross stitch lately. It's usually in the winter months when I don't have anything else going on.

I also have a Pooh baby blanket, but I haven't even opened that one yet. I would like to get more patterns at some point though.

I forgot to say - it might be best to take copies of patterns and send the copies to each other - that way we don't have to worry about sending patterns which we haven't yet completed - we can just trade the copies and build up our collections!

Thanks to those who have contacted me!

I love to cross stitch and of course all of mine are disney too. I have quite a few however I moved to the US from the UK and most of mine I brought over with me, mine are mostly designer stitches.

Let me know which ones ya have :)

Word of advise I found that photocopying usually works better than scanning... sometimes the grids do not scan right.

I just bought a book of patterns of all the different princesses, both closeups and incorporated in a design, iykwim. :) (i.e., a closeup of Belle and then another one of her with a flower border and says "Pretty as a Princess" or something like that)

Hi Rhiannon,
I just wanted to say if you do an ebay search of cross stitch Disney there's tons of stuff up for sale from the UK. Makes me jealous actually, some of the patterns you can't get over here and they're really nice!

MerryPoppins

I'm sorry I'm so slow to get back to you guys. I know I have a book or two of Pooh patterns. I think I may have some other Disney, but I can't remember. Right now my mother is in the hospital and I don't have time for a proper search for the books. I'll let you know when I find them. I'd LOVE to have the ones you guys have. Disney patterns can be hard to find.

MerryPoppins - thanks for getting back to us. I'd still love to trade but you obviously have more important things to think about at the moment. If you want to PM me your address at some point I'll happily send you the patterns I have, it doesn't matter that you don't have time to send the patterns out yet, it can definitely wait until you have more time. I hope your mother is okay :grouphug:

stm61 - Thanks for the tip about ebay - I have bought a few kits and patterns off ebay UK and lucky for me the dollar is so weak at the moment that I have been able to buy a couple of kits off the American ebay site for a bargain price, even with the shipping on top. I have quite a few patterns already but I've been looking on this board for a while and thought there must be other people who wanted to swap Disney patterns, and I'm glad to see I was right!

Thanks everyone :goodvibes

Does anyone have or have seen the new Disney cross stitch of the castle with Walt and Mickey? I have seen it on ebay, but the pictures are not that close to see detail. I was wondering if the picture is crisp of the castle. From what I can tell, it looks like a blurry watercolor, but I am not sure how good the pictures are vs. seeing it in person.

Thanks,

Tracie

I know that I bought a kit at downtown Disney in that fancy art store. I think it's called the Art of Disney. I believe those are all "exclusives" that you can only get at Disney.

Hey Rhiannon,

I would love a pattern for the Disneyland Paris Castle. We have friends that are going in Sept and it would make a great gift for them.

I have a Disney pattern book, Disney home collection with 63 projects that I would be happy to copy.

Thanks everyone. I did buy the pattern from the person selling at ebay. It only cost me $3.67 so I think it was worth it. I have tons of colors and aida cloth already so I can make the pattern.
I have plans to make it on the back of a denim shirt I have so look for me at the parks in Nov wearing it.

I have a quite a few Disney cross stitch books. I would be more than happy to copy and send to anyone. Just let me know what you are looking for. I have been cross stitch for over 25 years and have lots of cross stitch items, Disney and non Disney.

I am looking for just the pattern of Mickey Mouse holding the fireman's hand. They have the whole kit at WDW for $45.00 but all I need is the pattern as I have all of the colors of DMC floss and lots of material.

If anyone can help me out I would be most appreciative.

Does anyone have any patterns for the baby characters? I'm looking for anything.

Also, might be interested in the right pattern of one or more of the 101 or 102Dalmations.

TIA!

BTW, I do have several Disney books, so let me know what you're looking for and I'll check. (Although some are still packed so it may take me a bit to uncover them all.)

Unfortunately I don't have the pattern for Cinerella's Castle, although I would love to get it, but I do have Past, Present and 4Ever if you are interested. I would really like the 35th Anniversary pattern. Please just let me know if this is something that you're interested in. Thanks

I'm new to this thread and love to cross stitch but I've been having a hard time finding Disney Princess Patterns & Nemo. If anyone can tell me where I can get these from I would greatly appreciate it. She wants me to make her a blanket w/ all the Princesses, Nemo & Tinkerbell. Hi-- I have several patterns if anyone is interested. I am sorry I don't have photo links though, but would be happy to scan them later if you would like. No need to trade-- I am afraid I can't even keep up with scrapbooking.. so there won't be any crossstitching in my near future!

Here is my list--
From the Disney Home pamphlet by Leisure Arts:
(these are all big ones, some are on 4 8.5 x 11 pages a piece!-- FYI)
Dumbo and Timothy
Bambi (with butterfly, Flower and Thumper)
Mowgli and Baloo
Sleeping Beauty (she is receiving a kiss from her Prince)
Cinderella (losing her slipper)
Peter Pan and Wendy

Disney Classics (this is a UK one from Ebay)
these are smaller designs-- (I have done the Bambi and Dumbo ones and they are really cute!)
Snow White
Mowgli and Baloo
Lady (with no Tramp!)
Bambi
Dumbo
Pinocchio

Walt Disney Christmas in Crossstitch by Paragon (I got this one on Ebay too)
Large Mickey in Santa Suit with JOY printed on top
Smaller (like for ornaments)
Mickey
Minnie
Dumbo (really old looking Dumbo)
Goofy in Santa Hat
Pluto
Pinocchio
Thumper
Chip and Dale
Donald Duck
(I did Mickey and Minnie last year-- both cute and EASY!)

Just let me know.. have a great week-
jennifer

LOL True, I'm taking it down there this weekend for him to see it, but I think it'll come back with me. GOtta show it off to the family next weekend!! There's a small battle on facebook on where to put it, a friend of mine wants it in her kitchen!!! HAHA Ah well. It'll go somewhere!! Then I'll start the next one! I think the framers picked out an awesome frame, and mat, I had it down to 2 frames, this red one, and a blue one just like it, but we liked the red, and she said the mat would make the Mickey part pop out, and she was RIGHT!! It wasn't that much to frame it either, I heard horror stories from my mother in law, paying like 3 or 4 hundred dollars to get one framed, this one was a little over 100. So not too shabby!!!! Anyways, keep up your good work too, I wanna see pictures of everyone else's work too!!!!!

I can send you the self portrait chart if you like?

there isnt anywhere on the internet now that you can see a picture of the retired ones is there.....perhaps i will scan in the ones i have and post them here so people can see what they look like!!

i think the full list is:

Family Dinner
Cinderella Castle
Mickey Salutes
Preening Pixie
Happiest Celebration on Earth
Mickey & Fireman
Past, Present & Forever
35th Anniversary
Tinkerbell Spring Blossoms

WOW!!!! That's alot of kits!! I just found them a couple of years ago at the parks. I've seen the ones at Hobby Lobby and such, but these from Stony Creek are SOOOO much better!!! I like the Past, Present and Forever too, saw a picture of that one, and would be interested in seeing Happiest Celebration on Earth, and Cinderella Castle also. If you have the patterns scanned, sure, I'll pm you my email addy!!! Thanks!!!!!

My mother in law was like that too, but her tastes were MUCH different than mine. But, she was much faster in working on them. I sent most of the patterns she had to my sister in law, since they have similar tastes, which is older victorian houses, and such. So not my taste!! I'm more simple....anything disney works for me!! LOL I've seen the Mickey Salutes kit on ebay for like $150!!! Talk about YIKES!!! I should buy them up at the parks before they retire....cause knowing me, I'll probably want them after they retire!!! HAHA

Does anyone have a cross stitch pattern for the Map of the Hundred Acre Wood? I saw it in some cross stitch catalouge a few years back and forgot to order it and am now obsessing over finding it! Thanks for any help.

Were you ever able to find this? I had it at one time and put it away for a baby project someday...and we have moved since then and I can no longer find it. I, too, am obsessing over it...

Hey everyone! I am fairly new to the cross stitching world but picked it up a month ago when I saw the Disney cross stitch stuff! Currently I just started working on the Thomas Kinkade Snow White kit, and need some help if anyone is willing: it says I need to do tweeding with a gold blending filament (which was provided of course!) I did my first tweeding section and the gold did not show up very well. :sad2: Just wondering if anyone has any tips or pointers on how to tweed metallic filaments? (I did a google search but couldn't find anything). TIA!

Hi everyone,It has been awhile since I have read through the list, you all have been busy! I am working on a 14 count collage of the Princesses. Does anyone have a decent pattern of Ariel or Jasmine? Probably too early yet for Rapunzel. Think I will also add Mulan and Pocohantas, any patterns? Happy Disney stitching!

Was it just me or did the Disney Dreams Beauty and Beast cross stitch only sell for about 5 minutes? I wonder if they will do the Lion King the same way when it comes out? I clicked the add to cart many times, and it never registered. And there the only site that seems to have it. Where was it sold in the first place? Any chance that some were sold to the big box stores? I got the first group from Hobby Lobby and I'll stalk them if I have to. :rotfl:

To tell you the truth I have no clue! I saw one on ebay about a month ago and haven't seen one since. I made the mistake of panicking with the Cinderella Castle one and paid a fortune on ebay for it, so I'm leary of Kinkade ebay buying! HA! But they always eventually turn up on there. I've bought from CSW before, which is why I knew of they had it). Stitchery dot com also carries the Kinkades, but for the past few days their site has been unavailable. Actually, your post DID help. I figured if you saw it on Ebay a month ago, there was a chance that if the big box stores were to get it, they might have it. So I went over to the Hobby Lobby, and while I did not find the kit, they HAD a tag for it. And they had the 5 x 7 one, which I bought.

I decided to go to the next closest Hobby Lobby, and as I approached the display I could see there were no empty spaces. I saw the Bambi kit first and then SUCCESS! You should have seen me in the store, I hugged it! Unfortunately, this was a not a week when kits were on sale, nor it was a 40% off coupon week, but I have the kit!

So if you have a HL, or have family that are near one, it is worth a visit.

Made them using software program. Although I'm a Disney purist, I didn't want the Marc Davis portraits, I wanted the current WDW versions, so it too forever finding a high enough resolution pic to use! They will be massive and they each use about 240 colors, but they will be detailed and pretty close to the originals which is what I wanted.

IF you are selling your Haunted Mansion designs please let me know how much...I would love to purchase them from you.

There would be way too many copywrite issues with selling them. I would just give them to you, but you'd still have to buy the software to read the design, so then it would be mute. I couldn't afford to print them because of their size...each design is over 50 pages and took both my each cartridges a piece. The software was cheaper than one print run! I had to do it over several paydays just for myself! The stack of papers for all four together look like War and Peace!

Plus my way of designing may not be your way...I did decide to use over 240 colors and the design is 11x32 on 18ct aida. I went extremely detailed. You may not want to do it that way. I may start them and decide I was incredibly stupid for doing it this way and scrap the whole thing!

It's wasn't hard, just find a jpeg of the pic you want, plug them into very inexpensive software and viola! Instant cross stitch design! The software does all the work. You just have to find the right software for you. Some are a lot more expensive than others (and more expensive doesn't always mean better - I used to use the expensive software and not only was it hard to use, but the colors were "off" and I never could get them to match).

But if you want em, just let me know when you get the software, and I'll forward them too you if the file isn't too big (I'll have to check on that too-they may be too big for email, then we'd have to use some sort of file sharing service).

Awhile back I saw a kit on Ebay that was similar to the Expressive Mickey Mouse kit, but it was all black and white. Does anyone have a copy of it or can they find the kit for me for sale? I have looked and can't find it on my own.

Also, I am a beginning cross stitcher...:) IF I decide to jump into a Stoneycreek design, is there one or two that are easier OR one or two I should NOT do for my first big project? I really like the Cindererlla's castle or the one with Mickey & Walt....are they too much for a beginner? :confused3

TIA for the advice and help!

Honestly...the stoney creek patterns are a little hard. I wouldn't start out with one of those. I would find one of the simpler ornaments or smaller designs to start with and then advance to the larger ones. I would go ahead and buy the patterns so you have them but I would complete 2 or 3 smaller ones before I started a bigger design. That is my humble opinion though.

That is my plan actually. I have a booklet with Mickey I plan to do, then hope to find the black and white expressions of Mickey. Only then would I consider a Stoney Creek. I just didn't know if either of the two I was interested in were considered "harder" than others. (and if so...what makes it hard? The stitches? The overall time it will take to make it?):confused3

Of the two Stoney Creek patterns you mentioned, the Cinderella Castle one, IMO, is easier. On the self-portrait, there is an awful lot of changing the threads. You will use a color for 1 or 2 stitches, then have to change. It gets tedious and easy to make a mistake. The Cinderella Castle has bigger sections where you are using the same color. I counted it up, 70 colors in the Self-portrait, only 50 in the Castle. Only, the Cinderella Castle uses, something called Glissengloss, which was invented by the devil. It's a metallic thread, and it tends to twist and get knotted. You have to let the thread unwind after almost every stitch, and even then, it could get knotted. Working with the Glissengloss requires a lot of patience.

vhartwell
07-28-2011, 11:56 AM
I changed the Glissengloss to Krienk (easier) and I also use THREAD HAVEN...it is a wax you run your thread over and it keeps the metallics from tangling as much....The still may tangle but not as much as without it....

I can't work without the wax....

Do you know how to Park your threads??? It makes confetti stitching so much easier!!!! I can post the instructions if you like. It is hard to do at first..but once you learn how it makes big projects much easier.

I think it's where when you are temporarily finished with a color... Instead, of cutting it off, you leave it attached, but direct the floss to the side so it doesn't get in the way. You stitch another color, and then when you are ready to come back to the "parked" color, you just start stitching again. So you end up with less "beginnings and ends" of a thread.

I've done it on occasion, but it doesn't always help. On my 35th Anniversary, last night, I was doing Timothy. 39 squares, 9 different colors and only 3 of the colors are anywhere near the vicinity of Timothy, so could be theoretically parked.

I do, however, work with multiple needles, so I don't unthread them after I cut them off. If I know I have to use the same color for a stitch here, a stitch there.

Thank you everyone for the support! I have never heard of "parking threads", but the description makes sense I think.

I am officially scared to try the Castle, but am motivated to get my other Mickey started. I hope to come back and share my completed project in a few months.

Does anyone have the pattern of the B&W Mickey Expressions? I am thinking it is retired.

Parking Threads:

This is really easy...it takes a while to get used to though....and your back will look terrible...this you will have to live with...One thing...You will be working your 10 x 10 grids in colums...it makes it easier...

1. Start with a 10 x 10 grid..

2. Find your first symbol...and stitch all of that symbol in your 10 x 10 grid....When finished...

3. Find the same symbol on the 10 x 10 grid below it...take your needle and bring your thread up like you are going to make the first 1/2 of the X ...but don't do it...just unthread your needle and lay the thread down..

4. Go back to the first grid you were working on...and stitch the next symbol the same way....when finished bring your thread down....

5. continue each symbol until your first 10 x 10 grid is finished....

6. start the next 10 x 10 grid ....you should have thread there already for you to pick up and stitch...

Hope this helps!!!!

I have copies of both Sleeping Beauty Castle and Cinderella Castle Cross Stitch Patterns Available for Trade. The patterns were adapted by Hands-On-Design, have a very retro quality, and are from the 1980's.

Hello fellow cross stitchers! :goodvibes

I'm very excited to find this thread. I've just started cross stitching again after quite a few years, largely because I couldn't find any pieces that inspired me. But I recently discovered that I can combine my love of stitching and Disney so I've started up again. I've just finished a Disney wedding sampler and I've now discovered the Kinkade Disney Dreams kits and fallen in love!

I bought the Cinderella Wishes Upon a Dream kit on ebay last night and can't wait for it to arrive. I'm sure it will keep me occupied (and at times frustrated :rotfl:) for quite some time..

the Disney Classics Disney Home book I have has HUGE designs.. each one has four pages of pattern for one design. The cover of the booklet is bambi with a small pic of dumbo in the right upper corner.

If anyone has books/pamphlets with Mickey patterns could you look for a pattern for me? I saw it as a kit on Ebay awhile back and didn't buy it and really want it now.

It's a black and white pattern of squares of different Mickey expressions. I think it was the same pattern as the Expressive Mickey kit by Janlynn.

If anyone can find it, I'd appreciate knowing which book it is in. I keep checking Ebay and it hasn't shown up again.

Thank you.

i know the one you mean. it's not in any of the books that I have copies of  i think it might be just a kit pattern rather than a book.

does anyone have the tink sketch chart at all?

A while back I purchased a cross stitch (Disney's puppy love - with mickey, minnie and pluto). I wanted to continue it but i lost page 5 of the instructions which lists what color each symbol is. I was wondering if someone would be able to send me the color symbols. I have the pattern, the parchment, the needle and the thread but I lost page 5 which included what the symbols mean for each color. if anyone could email me the symbols page or tell me what they are that would be great. my email is

Last year someone on the boards graciously sent me a copy of Mickey Through the Ages pattern. In the mean time illness and a military move interfered with my starting work on it. The other day I pulled it out to start work on it and I hit a brick wall. There are no markings to tell me where the centre is nor is there anything to say how many stitches up or down. Can someone help? Thank you so much in advance.

Thanks anway. I figure if it doesn't show up too well I will just go back and stitch in some more filament, but so far so good. Good luck on this one, it's a doozie!:scared1:

Not sure if you got your answer yet so here goes. If you stitch with 2 strands filament and 1 strand of floss together your filament should pop more. Hope this helps
