As you can see by my countdown, we'll be checking into DL on Thursday. :cool1:

Since we don't plan to go to the parks until Friday, I'm wondering if we'll at least be able to view some fireworks from the hotel on Thursday. We're staying at the Grand Californian...but I don't think we've booked any particular view.

TIA,
Kelley

If you've booked a Downtown Disney View, you may be able to see them from your room. However, the best place to get the full effect (since a lot of pyrotechnics come off the castle) is in the parks.

I know gcurling was able to see them from the Disneyland Hotel, but I also know they don't pipe in the tunes.

You can also see them from spots in DTD. Again, you won't get the full effect with the castle in the background and the music.

The castle isn't all you'll miss, but I'll say no more on that.

You could always try standing right in front of the DCA entrance. There is a great thread right now showing the fireworks from just inside DCA, if you want to get an idea of what you can see. I know with the old show some people would watch from the top of the parking garage.

When we were at the GC in May with a DD view (right across Hagen Daz) we had no problem viewing the fireworks. However, like everyone else has posted, you don't really appreciate the full effect unless you are in the park...

You will be able to see the fireworks "in the air" but you will miss the music and other effects, as well as lower level fireworks.
