National Car and Credit Card Block

Can anyone tell me what amount National will block on your credit card when
you pick up ypur rental? Their website doesn't really give much info on that.

Generally the amount of the rental.

Usually they block more than your rental. I called and asked and received an approx. number so I could plan ahead.

National blocks the actual amount of the rental. Alamo charges it immediately,no block for additional (they also accept debit cards with the visa or MC logo), Dollar blocks the amount of the rental plus a certain percentage, min. 200.00.
Best bet, call the rental agency and ask. I did and the above are the answers I received. I have only used National, Avis,Budget and Alamo. Cannot remember what occurred with Avis and Budget, but I do remember National and Alamo. Neither one upset my budget. :)

when I rented from national this past aug 3-6th they only blocked the amount the rental would have been! I always check my CC every day to see if there has been any activity on it and thats all they had blocked was the amount of then rental.....
