206#. There it's out there. I'm owning up to it. Now lets see if I can say goodbye to that number forever. At this precise moment, I am at my heaviest ever and I hate it.
I've decided to start a new journal just to keep track and try to stay on target. I'm doing Oprah's Boot Camp. Giving up the white stuff is going to be hardest for me. I am a carb-o-holic. I live for rice, potatoes and bread. With a little help from God and my sheer determination, I'm ready to shed the weight and if that means making sacrifices along the way, so be it. I'm saying goodbye to sodas and alcohol too.
So wish me luck everyone! I could definately use it!!
Yesterday:
B - 1/2 Fruit and Walnut salad (from McDonald's)
L - 2 Smoked Sausage links and the rest of the Fruit and Walnut Salad
D - Baked Cod Fish, Green Beans and Carrot Souffle
I got all my water in (100 oz.) and did 15 minutes on the Eliptical machine at the YMCA and did my full weight training exercises.

Hey Desiree! I saw your post on someone else's journal and that you are from Baton Rouge, too, so I just had to stop by and say hello! Good for you for doing Oprah's Boot Camp! And cutting out the alcohol here in BR is half the battle, I think. Anyway, goo luck and I know you can do it. If you need some motivation, here's the place. My journal is probably the main thing that keeps me on track. I will be checking in on ya every day- so you have someone to answer to other than yourself!!

Welcome back Desiree! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: We're glad to see you. :3dglasses I think I have finally figured out that it is better never to leave wish. Bad things happen when we are gone. (ie the scale goes up) It is amazing how fast everything falls right back into place. Have a great day! :sunny:

Thanks everyone for your support! I know I can count on you guys to keep me motivated!
Yesterday wasn't so bad. I got most of my water in, I think I was shy of 100 oz though. Managed to get to the gym twice yesterday for cardio, 1st time was for 25 minutes on the Eliptical and then 35 minutes in the afternoon.
B - Oops! I skipped! :guilty:
S - 1 Dill pickle
L - Grilled Chicken Caeser salad
S - 1 small can of mixed fruit in light syrup
D - Chicken Fingers from Raising Cane's (I did cave and eat 1 piece of Texas Toast, but I didn't touch the fries.) :(
Brandip: Gosh you are so right. Alcohol is so much a way of life around here, it's scary!
Well my boss just brought in doughnuts. Yes, she is an evil woman. :teeth: I am going to avoid her office like the plague until the rest of my co-workers eat them all!
Y'all have a good day! I'll try to check in on some journals when I can!

Good plan to avoid the boss' office--those doughnuts will be gone soon enough! Stay strong and have a wonderful day!

Thanks everyone!
Yesterday was pretty good. I didn't quite get in all my water and I only got to the gym once yesterday. But I did get 30 minutes done on the Elliptical machine. Food choices could have been better, especially yesterday evening, but honestly, we never go out to eat. It was quite a treat!
B - Small peach cup
L - Spaghetti sauce and meatballs (no pasta)
S - Dill Pickle
D - We went out to Lone Star Steakhouse! Had a handful of cheese fries for appetizer, a couple slices of that yummy bread, salad, 1 small piece of chicken and 1/2 of the baked potato. (I bombed big time with the bread and potato part.... that's sooo not allowed on Oprah's Boot Camp!) :( And to top it off I had a Mango Margarita. Now on the Camp they allow 3 times during the 3 months that you can have a drink. I'm going to try really hard not to use my other two times up and just not drink any anymore. Try.... That's a hard word!)
The good news is (well as good as this could be), I had a OB/GYN appointment yesterday and the scale there at the doctors office said 202. And that was with my shoes on! Woohooo! If that is the case, I'm down 4 pounds! I know it's only water weight, but I'll take just about everything I can get at this point!
Y'all have a healthy and happy day today! TGIF!!!!! :cool1:

Sounds like you're on your way and determined. Slip ups happen. Oh well.... Time for a new day....sometimes I need a new HOUR!!

Morning everyone! I'm just going to make a quick post here, then off to the gym to get it over with for today! I'll try to check some other journals out later on when I get back!
Yesterday, no cardio. Actually it wasn't for lack of trying. When I arrived at 5:30 in the morning no less, ALL the Elliptical Machines were in use. And those are pretty much all I can use (treadmills are too hard on my knees), I opted to go home and do some housecleaning before work. I did manage to make it back there after work but only did some weights for about 30 minutes.
As I sit here, I'm making out our grocery list. I'm about to go throw out all kinds of stuff in the pantry and fridge that we don't need. Won't Chris be surprised when he wakes up! hehe :earseek:
Anyway, here's yesterdays food rundown:
Water - I didn't get all my water in. I really need to work on that.
B - 1 Scrambled Egg and a sausage link
L - Beef Brisket (lean) with baked beans and corn
D - Boiled Shrimp, corn on the cob, steamed carrots
Jen, Judy and Goldcupmom, thanks for all your support!!! Hope you guys are having a terrific weekend!

Good Morning Desiree!!!!!!!!!!!!
You tried and I'm very proud of you for doing the weights and sticking to it!!! I know how you feel about grocery shopping. I did that just yesterday :).
Yeah, I need to increase my water uppage too. Maybe that can be our next challenge: the Drink (Water) Like a Fish Challenge, write down how many ounces you want to drink and then do it, like an exercise challenge. You're a great supporter too. I'm bound to have a good weekend! Why? Because I feel like it and I know all my WISH friends are gonna have awesome ones, too!
Good luck with today's journey, Desiree.
It's a new day. I like to compare them to pinatas. They are brand new, and it's your choice with what to fill: good day, bad day, hope, love, determination, inspiration, motivation, exercise, good choices, bad choices, etc. etc. etc. So how will YOU fill your "pinata" today?

What's a weekend??? I haven't had a Saturday and Sunday off since - hmmmm well it has been a while. I have 2000 Disney bus drivers ahead of me on the seniority list. I won't see weekends or dayshifts for a few years. Thats ok though. It's cooler at night and weekends are over rated. :rotfl2: Hope you have a terrific one!!!

Desiree, you are doing a great job. I have the worst time getting to the gym. That's my main problem. And if the machine I want is taken, that de-motivates me, too. But, I keep trying. We'll get it right one day. Just taking it one day at a time! Hope all is well and that you have a wonderful weekend!

Jen, you are the best cheerleader here on WISH! Your posts always make me smile and you keep me motivated! A big THANK YOU!
Judy, I have been there! I used to manage a few movie theaters here in town so I know what it's like not to see weekends and holidays. But it makes a HUGE difference if you love what you are doing!
Brandi, I know! What a huge bummer, when I walk in and all the ones I can use are taken. That actually happened to me again yesterday. So my mom and I went for a walk on the track outside for about 40 minutes. We started around 8 am before it got too hot. But let me tell ya, by the time we were finished I was starting to sweat up a storm. Stupid Louisiana weather! It shouldn't be allowed to get hot until at least 2:00 pm! ;) I guess next time we are just going to have to shoot for getting there at opening time (which is 7:30 on Saturday) to insure that I can get an Elliptical.
Well I have noticed that I do slack up ALOT on my water during the weekends. I drink a glass with each meal, but I'm not getting my other ounces in. I think I totaled about 40oz total yesterday. About 60 away from goal. :(
Here's the rundown:
Exercise - 40 minutes walking outdoors
B - Fruit Smoothie
L - Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad
D - BarBQ'ed Chicken and 1/2 baked potato. :blush: (I am having the hardest time giving up the white stuff for good. I'm too much of a potatoes and rice, kind of girl!)
S - A small handful of pistashios
I hope everyone has a fantastic Sunday!
I'm not sure I'll be able to make it to the gym today as we're planning on moving the stuff out of my Uncle's apartment. This will not be fun. He passed away about 2 weeks ago. If we can manage to get everything taken care of, I will try to make it though.

Morning, Desiree!!!!!! A big YOU'RE WELCOME and many hugs in assorted shapes and sizes are coming your way.
Y'know what I do with my water (other than the fact that I have to have it cold with at least two straws in it)? I play a game. I split the day up in to 3 segments, and then (like for you, you'd put about 30 for each segment, with ten extra) I split up 60 oz in to segments of 20. So it's like a contest, kind-of-ish. I also carry a 24 ounce mug with me all around the house so I can drink and drink and drink.
One bad day for any reason does not make it a bad lifetime. So you ate a potato. Oops. You 'fell down', so get on up, watch how it goes next time, tame it and learn from it.
You have so much dedication. I could never, NEVER get away for 3 months without carby white stuff.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fill your day positively, Desiree!!
Congrats on your loss!!!! Don't sell yourself short by saying it was just water weight. You worked darn hard for it!!!
I know it can be very hard to give up refined carbs. I wouldn't feel too bad about a potato here or there--especially if you eat the skin. Potatoes are full of vitamins and fiber and are really wonderful foods. There's a big difference between that and white rice or pasta which has almost no fiber and very little nutritional value.
Hope you have a great day!!!
Just wanted to do a quick post before heading off to the gym. Did 35 minutes cardio yesterday morning, then after work my full weight training regimin.
B - Scrambled egg and sausage patty
L - 1 peach and a yogurt (I couldn't bear the thought of eating roast again for lunch!)
D - Baked Talapia and carrots
S - Fruit smoothie
Morning everyone!!
Had a really good day yesterday! I made it to the gym twice and did the elliptical for 35 minutes each time. And after dd Devyn's softball game, we went to see Batman Begins :cool1:
B - 1 Scrambled egg
L - 2 small slices of roast and 1 small can of diced peaches (lite)
S - Fat Free yogurt
D - 10 breaded chicken nuggets
I didn't make it to the gym this morning, but I'll try to hit it tonight after work.
Going to try to check a few journals and then get ready for work! Hope everyone has a great day!
Batman was AWESOME! I can't wait to go see it again! We're going and taking Devyn Saturday morning. I highly recommend it. It was very true to how Batman was/is supposed to be portrayed.
Just wanted to check in right quick before getting ready for work. I'll be able to hit some journals tomorrow, I promise!
B - Fruit smoothie
L - 1 peach and 1 yogurt
D - OOF.. Fried catfish and a handful of french fries. I ate too much fish though. I was over stuffed. :( I can't resist seafood.
No gym yesterday. I took the day off. I did just get back. I only managed 20 minutes though. I will be going back after work today to finish up.
Hope everyone has a great Friday! :cheer2:
Thanks Perlieq!!!!
Well overall this week I've done really well with the exercising. But alas, my food choices haven't been the best in the world. And my water intake has been on track too. I've got to really get cracking with the food issues I have though. I haven't been snacking, but it's really just been my meal choices. Chris has been working late this week and Monday, dd had her game. What do we end up doing? Instead of cooking a good meal, we go to Raising Cane's and eat fried chicken fingers. Yesterday after getting back from the gym, we head to Home Depot for a few things then on the way home we swing by Whataburger! Grrr! I could have easily piped up and said no that we should eat at home, or at least when I got there I should have gotten a salad. But of course, that didn't happen. On the plus side, both nights I didn't eat any french fries at least. And I guess chicken fingers and a hamburger won't kill me in the log run but I'm still a bit disappointed with myself. I have been busting my butt at the gym and I feel like I've been sabotaging myself. Maybe it's because TOM is around the corner too. But I don't want that to be an excuse either.
Sorry, vent over!
Yesterday I tried yoga for the first time! WOW. I felt so good afterward! I can't see me doing this more than once a week, but I think I will continue it. We (my mom and I) are going to try Pilates for the first time on Friday also. And yesterday morning I did my usual 35 minutes on the Elliptical but yesterday was the first time that I did the most strides ever and worked away the most calories! That's something positive right?! I really didn't feel like going yesterday but I did and boy am I glad I made it. Today however, I slept too late. But I am going tonight. I may try to start implementing some step aerobics in my work outs too. Those seem to burn alot of calories!
Well since I'm not at the gym, I'm going to go check a few journals this morning! If you made it through this long post, you deserve a fat free yogurt!!! Have a great day!
You were right...Batman was fantastic!
Congrats on the new clippie and the loss. It sounds like you are doing great on the exercise; I think trying new things like yoga and pilates is a wonderful idea to switch things up a bit and stay interested.
This is my new week for staying positive about food, so I say don't let a few questionable food choice get you down too much. Besides, who actually orders a salad at Whataburger?!? ;)
Have a great week!
