I have a question for the people who are using PhotoImpact 10. When you open a new image for a shirt, what image size do you use?
I use a 8.5 x 11 - since that is the size paper you would want to print on

Specific for the Poly or just tropical/Hawaii? Lilo and Stitch, Mickey...
I'm open to suggestions. I guess it doesn't matter. I think something Poly would be cool, as well as L&S.

Julia & Nick's Mom-those are AWESOME for the Poly. It just so happens that the 2nd day we're there is my oldest daughter's birthday and she really wanted something with Lilo and Stitch for her birthday shirt. Any chance you could change that script to '10th' birthday or guide me in changing the script?
Also, I really, really like the other Poly one and would like to do it for the family shirts. Any suggestions for script? Our background---There's 5 of us Tony, Amy, Alex, Kelsey (the bday girl), and Madison Horner. We'll be at the Poly Sept 17-25. What do you think?
I tell ya'-I am more indebted to Dis board members than I am to anyone else in this world! :grouphug:
Thanks!

4 generations of princesses with a few princes thrown in for good measure
The girls could have a shirt that said, "2nd Generation Princess" (or whichever number) and the boys could say the same only prince
Thank you for the suggestion!!! That is a cute idea. Hmmmmm. . . I wonder if the boys should just say Prince John, etc.
What pic would you suggest for the princess/prince shirts?? You guys are SO creative!!!!

I don't want to hurt your feelings poohangel, but that is kind of scaring me. It wild! You should take that "mood" and try something with the haunted mansion. *shiver* The b & W castle looks abandoned...hmmm optimal touring conditions! Mabey it would make a good MNSCHP shirt.

So it looks like our dates in August overlap. Do you have a T-shirt itinerary worked out yet? I'm still working on mine:
Sunday 8/28 arrive MCO 10:30am all wearing ASMovies T, go to MGM, Sci Fi @ 2:15
Monday 8/29 MK, 8:10am CP, me Tink, DS Buzz-To Disney T, DFriend's DH Thanks Walt T (to wear on Keys to the Kingdom tour).
Tuesday 8/30 Epcot (no T's yet....) Maybe Mission Mickey for DFriend's DH
Wednesday 8/31 we have a 6:30 flight home. Not sure if we'll do AK or go back to another park. Maybe Mickey fireworks for DFriend's DH.
No, I haven't yet, but it's a great idea! That could be a thread all in itself-Post your T-Shirt Itinerary Here kinda' thang. I am still working on getting my shirt designs together. I have a request in to one of our design mavens on this thread, but at the same time, I am stumbling through learning PhotoImpact 10. I missed the extreme deal of 29.99 after rebates so I downloaded the free trial. It doesn't have a very user friendly tutorial. I refuse to pay full price so anybody see a deal again, please post!
Arriving on 8/28 at 11:30am and to MGM studios for the day too! Same schedule as you on 8/29 also, 8/30 we're back to MGM then MK on 8/31. I will PM you if I get my act together on the shirts before our trip, assuming my DH will abide by a t-shirt schedule at all after I've put up our hotel room sign! :rotfl:
You can spot my family with our matching strollers (DSis & mine). They are really unique and we have only seen one other like them. They are black with a blk/white check pattern and lime green accents (total coincidence!) They also have a built in bug shield. We will have our DIS ears on them as ID.
Have a fantastic time. . .I know you've got to be as excited as I am!

Sims,
N & J's mom has a pretty good summary of the tranfer on page 96. I wrote one myself but I don't know what page its on...probably in the 100 range.
Ok..Tracy, fonts. I learned this from Midnite. Download the font. You'll need to uncompress it. Then right click on the font file, copy and paste it into c:\windows\fonts (I just type that under run...its the easiest way to open it.) Once you've done that, you can use that font in ANY program on your computer (printshop, word, ect.).

J&N'sMom-WOW. I'm glad I hadn't finalzied my Tshirt itinerary yet because I've got to add that Happiest Celebration shirt to the list! All the others are great too. LOVE the Dumbo one-he's always been one of my favorites (tied with Peter Pan). And the Germany one. Well all of them are so wonderful!

Adding to what Amy said above about halters at TCP - Old Navy has 100% cotton girls short sleeved shirts - buy one get one free for $6.50, makes each shirt $3.25 which is even less than I can get at Michael's!
J&N Mom - your latest designs are awesome! Thanks again for sharing them with us.

Ok..think I need a translation on that Germany shirt...but it is very cute! Why single out only germany? J & Ns Mom..I think your next BIG project collaboration with Midnite should be the countries! Does anyone want to second that??
Somewhere back a very helpful DISer sent me this link for Character Autographs: http://home.att.net/~disneysue/characters/wdw/disneycharacters.html
I want to say THANK YOU. I just had a chance to check it out. For those of you that are going to "scraplift" J&NsMOM's idea for the autograph book..this site is a must. A fellow DISer has put it together. It has ALL the possible characters you can meet, where to possible find them, a brief background, plus a picture of what their signatures look like. Also, some use stamps and some won't do autographs at all and she includes that information as well. The best part: she has a rating system for how likely you are to encounter the character (1.super common, 2. common, 3. often out/findable, 4. sometimes out/sometimes not 5. somewhat unsual/not easy to find, 6. rare 7. really really rare, 8. ridiculously rare/special event, 9. not currently meeting). It will give you some idea of which characters you should premake autograph cards for and which you should bring along blanks for.
Now all I need is to pick up a new printer cartridge and some 6 X 6 scrapbooks and I can get started! Mabey I'll even let the kids help, since it will be for them....nahhhh I think I'll hog all the fun! :Pinkbounc

WOW. Love that one too. That would be great for my oldest DD (a real princess) and the first would work for my DS. Could you do one for my "baby" (do I have to stop calling her that now that she's 2 1/2?). Remove the princesses ("no PINK Mommy!) and add a few Pooh friends?

I personally don't think making it larger will help. I would try for a "girly" font that's easy to read. I would want the names to be very easy for the CM's to read, just in case some extra PD comes your way! I may have to borrow the Dinglehopper shirt for my DD. It's way too cute!

I can't imagine they would even know that you didn't buy it someplace. The clipart (as you can see from what everyone is using) is available all over the internet. I think as long as you aren't making a profit from it....it is ok.

Man, you're getting REALLY good! BTW, where did you get the color castle without the people? Can you post just the castle (big)? Thanks!
thanks so much!
let me tell you...erasing the people out was a pain...lol...i did it by using the clone feature to copy the side walk next to them OVER them...then i enhanced the color a bit....I dont know if i saved the people free version of the castle but i can certainly do it again :)

I don't even know exactly what I'm looking for. I am going in 4 weeks with a friend. It will be my 15th trip (11th in the last 5 years!), and only her 2nd time and the first was about 25 years ago! Baloo- if we put together a post to put on the first page - can this be done? People have so many of the same questions and it would be awesome if the first post explained the most FAQ's and directed them to Midnites & Mine websites -
also I am willing to put instructions on my site of how to tye dye -
how to print and save transfers
transfer tips
etc.
is anyone willing to write these out?

I am so addicted to this thread. I have saved more ideas then days we will be in Disney.
We are going in Dec and I am afraid I won't be able to find short sleeve shirts in Oklahoma that time of year. So......I have gone shopping!!
For anyone interested, Old Navy had t-shirts on special. I bought my girls matching colors. I think I bought every color they had except 1 and that was only because they didn't have it in both sizes.
Anyway, the girls shirts were 2 for $6.50.

You have to put a shiny surface on the object. I use Chrome. Actually, I made a brighter Chrome than their default.
i tried that and it still looks grey...not even shiny grey...just flat, dull grey...is there something else im supposed to be doing ? :confused3

BeijiNo, I haven't received any offers yet. So, sure, I would be thrilled if you want to give it a shot!
Thanks!!
Lucky you getting two volunteer designers! Mine has quite a different feel. That's the great thing about this thread and the DISboards in general. There are so many people with different ways of approaching things. I made it before I left home this morning. I haven't made the one for your friend yet, but I will probably just change the wording and try to find somewhere to put Dopey.

beiji how did u get that font for ur siggy? it is adorable!!
I'm glad you like it! It's the Disney Print font, and I tweaked it in Photoshop using bevel and emboss and put in a drop shadow. I added the Mickey ears too. Your designs for CDooBee are really cute.

I hear you. I'm on my computer 8 hours a day. And I don't work outside the home. :rotfl: This is the first forum I've subscribed to and it's very addicting. I'm trying to talk my DH into make me a computer to use specifically for this and my photography. :rotfl2: No luck so far.
I joined 3 days ago. It has taken me that long just to read all the posts on this site. I LOVE the t-shirts. DH said the WDW trip is costing enough w/o having to do all the shirts. I told him to look at how much I was saving by not purchasing pre-printed!!! LOL!! This really is addicting. I wait until he has gone to work so I can sit and read quietly.

This is my favorite thread ever! It's the first one I check every day & recheck & recheck & recheck.... :rotfl2:
I am so amazed at ALL of the talented designers and I think it's just wonderful that so many people are sharing and helping each other. Someone posted a few days back that they thought Uncle Walt would approve highly of what is taking place on this thread and I totally agree. This is such a feel good thread to read. :goodvibes
I bought PhotoImpact when it was on special but I've been busy ever since and haven't even had a chance to try it. I'm really looking forward to figuring it out and making some designs, too. There is so much inspiration here, it's really contagious! :)

When you set up a new material, you have to choose a "reflected light" color. A medium gray will make it super reflective.

I've read this thread for nearly 2 hours this morning before finally having to skip to the last few pages...phew!
So I don't think I ever saw the answer to my question...is there a particular brand of t-shirt transfer paper that's preferred?? The reason I ask is I have some Canon paper I bought several years ago and never used. Not sure if I should try it or look for something else...
Any tips for using the iron ons?

hehe i can imagine the 100+ pages would be a bit much to read all at once lol! As for brands most people here have said that Walmart brand works pretty well..I personally have used Avery...it was a bit difficult at first but once you get the hang of it....I think some one has compiled a word document with the tips/hints and I think they were going to put it at the begining of the thread..cuz quite honestly this thing has gone on so many pages I dont even know where the hints and tips were :earseek:

I have used Avery, a generic brand and something called Invent It (it was on sale somewhere and I don't remember where I got it). All have worked well. I have found that the important consideration for all of them is following the directions as they are written. If it says iron for 3 minutes, then iron for 3 minutes. Also, a hard surface is very important. I use my coffee table (it's wooden) with a towel over top the table to keep the heat directly off the table. Someone else recommended a stovetop and someone else recommended the kitchen table. I did some t-shirts last week for my girlfriend's 60th (a collage of pictures from the last 40 years) and did that on my ironing board. I found I had to press harder and longer to make the transfer work. I also found that the pictures worked better using a transfer made for dark clothing, even though the t-shirt wasn't that dark.
My transfer paper is over 2 years old, and I have had no problems with it. I have been making t-shirts (Christmas gifts, non Disney) for 2 or 3 years and below are the stupid mistakes I have made most often. :rolleyes1
·I put the transfer upside down so when I peel it off, the picture is upside down.
·The colors don't compliment the shirt - they are either too dark/too light.
·I don't line the transfer up very well and it's crooked when it goes on the shirt.
·Be cognizant of where the transfer is placed to make it look the best. I now print out a picture first and lay it over the t shirt to be sure I like where it is going to go. I didn't do that last week and it was a very embarrassing mistake. :rotfl2:

MidNite, can you either post or e-mail me a high resolution of the background resort map w/border (minus text) on your design irish-dancer.jpg? Sorry to post this, but I tried to e-mail you from your site on jadespider, but I got an error message both times. Thanks so much!!! Since you are busy with the resort designs, I am going to have another go w/PhotoImpact of my design idea I PM'd you on a few weeks back. This would make a great background for it. I only have three weeks left and I am stressing! :scared1: Thanks so much!

My pointers? Play with everything. Filters, styles, Layer Styles, the things under the Image menu. Also, use layers every time you make a new thing, like text (which will do that automatically anyway) or shapes or pictures. Use layer masking. Take a photo, put it in a layer of its own, then use a Mask to draw parts out. That's the number one thing, I'd guess, for me. And use the help files!! F1!! :flower:
Above all, treat it as fun!!! It sure can be. :)

Go and at least hear what they have to say. Convince them they need YOU and show them how important you will be to their office. These days you have to sell yourself with all the competition out there. You never know......if they are really interested they could cover moving expense for you and provide you with a signing bonus. It is worth atleast checking it out.

Regarding Photoshop, try to use it on a regular basis. There's so much there, and it's easy to forget if you're not working with it regularly. See if there are any free or low-cost classes in your area. If any of your PS books have tutorials, go through them. There are also PS classes on the Web.
I agree about putting everything on its own layer-it makes the work so much easier. In CS you double click a layer in the layers palette to get the Styles menu. At least on a Mac you do.
