hi,
do the tshirts that you buy from ac moore or michaels work for tie die? if not, where do you get your shirts??? oh, DH wants an army camo looking tie die,,,,has anyone tried this?
thanks, wendy
That's FANTASTIC!!!! i may have to use that one if you don't mind...
Look out everyone there's another talented Tee designer in our midst... just wish some of this would rub off on me
Of course you can use it, that was the purpose of posting it. If you would like me to e-mail you a larger and therefore better quality version for printing, PM me your e-mail address. And thanks for the compliment. To be compared with some of the great designers on this thread is quite encouraging. There's just no way that I could be as prolific as them.
Finally got our personal design done for our October trip. What do you think?

Don't know if I'm completely happy with the text at top. But there is still sometime before our flight leaves. Too much time, actually. If anyone is interested in this design, just PM me and I can customize with your own saying or just send you a blank. I enjoy doing it, so feel free to ask.
And now ...
i wonder if you talented guys can help me out.My favourite ride and character are splash mountain and brer rabbit.has anyone got an idea for a t shirt that says something like "i'm back in my laughing place" or something along those lines?
I love the idea of wearing a themed t shirt while riding the mountain!! :rotfl:
I'll give this one a whirl!

T-Shirt Designs I finally get my designs together.
I made a big mistake.
I told everyone I need 2 ideas from each.
Now I have 6 designs.
I'm very happy with 5.
I would like some help with the Pooh gang looks to boring to me.
I would like to use the clip-art.
My DD always draws a funny face with tounge sticking out under her name.
Pooh is her favorite.

Great - thanks for the info - I was only using one rubber band around the mickey head and two rubber bands along the "body" of the shirt I guess that's why I didn't get the effect you did - I like the amount of white you have as a border. Thanks for the quick reply, I'm going to have another go at it tomrrow!

JNESWDWMOM when did you download photoimpact and from what site. I keep getting errors when I try. Thanks
Tracy
I downloaded the trial of PhotoImpact 10 from Ulead's website under free downloads. (Sorry, I can't post the actual link, because I don't have enough posts yet-being new & all). It took 5 1/2 hours! I had trouble the other night on this same site with error messages. Maybe too many Dis'ers trying to download at once! The site had a survey at completion, so they must be aware of issues. Hope this helps! :)

Okay, you guys have inspired me, so I decided to give it a try for our trip. The first one is not my favorite. It definately needs something else.
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b165/kggood/balloonshirt2.jpg
The second one I like better. I asked everybody who their favorite character is and made sure to include it. Then on the other side of the shirt I may put that person's character and their name. I'm just not sure that people will get the play on words. What do you guys think? I'm sure my sisters will probably think they are both cheesy, but oh well.

WOW!!!!! They keep getting better! Love the Supercalifrag...uh..Epcot one and Buzz and really love the Pooh one. And Kevin yours is really great too.
Hipporina-love your play on words with the 17 "characters"!
and the Canada one is awesome too!
So any hints on how to get a good transfer with the iron on sheets before I try any of these great designs?

I want to warn you that when I go to make my Mickety tye dyes - I will probably fill up your pm box with questions!!!
Those look awesome - I have all my stuff just not the energy to deal with the mess!! Did you use 100% cotton tees?
You have done so much for everyone, any help I can be I would be glad to give! I used 50/50 tees. I think the 100% cotton tees wouldn't give as much bright color..don't know...just assuming since it is heavier. I also like the lightweight of the 50/50 (not to mention they are on sale @ Michael's so I could afford to do it twice :rotfl2: )
I found that by doing all the shirts it's much easier (though more time consuming). I bought the black color separately and it didn't bleed as much as any of the other colors. I also did the black LAST to try to keep it off the other colors. I wrapped about 2 inches of rubber bands (as tightly as I possibly could) around the black mickey head for the white background. I wrapped about an inch around the other colors to try to have a white border but they all bled through. I used fishing line for the outline (pretty tight stitches, about 1/4" apart) and tied ends together. I found on the 1st batch that if I knotted the end, it made a small hole.
Anything else I can help with, don't hesitate to ask! Thanks again for all you do! :flower3:

Earlier in this thread, someone posted a site where you could purchase already made tye-dye shirts. The site was mdmintl.c I checked it out myself, because I was going to do exactly what you are thinking-even spoke to the shop by phone. DH nixed my idea due to a previously undiscovered tye-dye phobia! :scared1: Anyhow, the pre-done shirts were reasonably priced. They had an amazing selection of designs in all sizes. Since you are planning on customizing them, this would save you time. Let us know how it goes!
Another one with Splash Mountain. Brerrabbit 28 ... if you like, PM me with e-mail and personalization info and I will send it to you in larger version.

You are one talented and creative man! Those shirts are awesome. If you have any ideas for my triplets (Family Magic Tour, Prince Shirt, 1st trip to WDW), I'd love to see them. I posted some ideas a few pages back.
I'm amazed at the talent some people have and share with others so freely and willingly! I can barely check email!

Again, I want to say thank you - all :worship: indeed, I just sit here and say "I love that one", or "That's great love it!"
Yesterday I was at an outlet mall (Gap) they had tshirts with a bit more spiff to them than the Hane's Tshirts (designed for men) they were $9.99 and 40% off that! I just have to convince dd pink is a good color!! :rotfl: Today we're headed to an enormous flea market (Shipshewana anyone?) and I'm going to be on the lookout for some women's shirts that will hold an iron on transfer!!
OH Pixie Dust! Tinknme - love your design btw, I just thought, wouldnt it be cute to add some "pixie dust" to your shirt with Tink? I know Michael's and Hobby Lobby sell tshirt paint with glitter, and I'm thinking squirt some on a paper plate, get a paint brush, and brush on glitter here and there!!
Also, yesterday I went to a local winery, and they had a pink (or white) Wine Diva shirt, I'm thinking one of your designs ironed on the back will add just the right touch!!

WOW! WOW! WOW! (and BTW, this is my 1000th post! :cool1: ) J&N mom, those are awesome! :worship: :worship: :worship:
On the 1st one, any chance of wording it "Triple the Kids, Triple the Fun, Watch out Disney World, Here we Come" with the names Davis, Rees, and Brantley-Kate and December 2005?
I love the Christmas Princess... didn't even get it for a second until I realized they had on their winter capes and the "wonderland"- VERY creative! DD is here, and loves it! Could you put Brantley-Kate at the bottom and Christmas 2005?
And the villains is perfect! Could you do one version with Davis (in orange color), and one with Rees (in blue color)? And the boys are both fighting over who gets to wear it first...
Thanks again. Hope you had a good day "off". Oh, and if you ever find some Princes for the boys, I'd be very appreciative.

OK the shirts are on sale at hobby lobby Kids size were $2.99 adults $3.99 you get 50% off so about 1.50 and 2.00.
I used iron on transfer. And with the help of a good friend, photoshop and lots of inspiration from ya'll.

I made this t-shirt a few years ago:

Ok, y'all are just amazing! So for the computer illiterate, can you walk me through making a design? I have PhotoImpact.
Where or how do you make the background for all the pictures to go on top? Where is everyone finding the castle, starburst, map, etc?
How do you get the clip art images on top of that?
How do you get rid of the background of the clip art images?
Any other tips? I think I can do the text part, but I'm lost for the other stuff.
oh, and any great sites for finding images?

There are backgrounds in PhotoImpact that I have been using. For clipart go to google & do an image search, you will find alot. When you have your background click on file & then open. Click on the image you want to add from your files. Once this opens copy & paste it to your background. I'm not real good at explaning, hopefully someone else will help you out as well. Have fun!

Nope. My downloaded pretty quickly. I am now "setting up" which is taking quite a while to download all the extras. I ordered a copy for $29 from CompUSA ($99-$20-$20-$30) and I plan on picking it up tomorrow. I wanted to make sure the program worked properly before I open up the package.

I usually go to cnet.com to check computer related things I don't know about. It has always been a very reliable source of information for me. Below is a link to the editor's review on this product and it's been given a pretty high rating. Of course, this is for the "boxed product", not the free download, so I'm not able to give any followup on that. :confused3

So if anyone wants to help I would appreciate it. Where going next Sept. Planning on doing a MNSSHP if it happens to fall while we are there we will be their Sept. 25 thru Oct. 4. We like the pooh gang and of course the Princess. IT will be our DD's first trip she will be 3. Our 4th anniversary on the 28th. and my mothers 50th birthday. She has been to Disneyland once but not Disneyworld. My DH and I had our Honeymoon their. DH is game to possibly where matching shirts as long as their are no princess on them. But he will probably only wear one maybe two shirts that match. I would be willing to wear more if they match my DD's. My MOM would proably only wear one.

Me too! I vote for a Family Magic Tour design. The premise is that Peter Pan has stolen Captain Hook's "hook" and you must follow clues and a map (with a CM guide) while doing silly antics throughout the MK. At the end of the tour, you get to go on a ride with characters (most common is Peter Pan and Wendy). We're doing the FMT on our last morning, Dec 5.

Dumb Question alert!
I'm at my parents, my dad has a Dell computer, with a color printer... I dont see any "paint" type programs to open the created designs... so does that mean I cant "save as" one of the designs, or does it just mean I cant customize?
I was thinking about going to WalMart getting some iron on transfer paper, and a shirt and trying it out... I'm not invited to the "girls day out" today... so I'm trying to keep my mind off of things... and thought I could maybe play around???
I'm looking for a Princess Design for mom and dd (meagan) It's both their birthdays while at the world, so I was thinking of a small front transfer and then a bigger one for the back... or vice versa... Mom's Princess fav is Snow White, DD is Aurora... I was thinking of using a blue shirt too... my email at yahoo is angelmum3... We all like the tinkerbelle one that was posted too - I was thinking of using the Tink with attitude also... (as all us girls have some attitude if you know what I mean!!)
Glad julia/nick's mom made it home before turning into a pumpkin!! :)

For my DH's birthday I made us all Incredibles T's from the Incredibles movie website. So I made DH, me, DD(6), DS(4), and DD(2 1/2) all T's and the iron ons were all the same size and looked fine. You could try printing them on paper and placing that on the T to see what size looks best.
I bought my Avery transfer paper at Staples. It was around $12 for 6 sheets and $24 for 18. They also had sheets in 4 x 6. I saw at Walmart that they had Avery transfer paper for around $7/$8 for 5 sheets and $15 for 12 sheets but I didn't see 4 x 6 paper there.
Love all the designs! Crush is so cool!

I was looking for the site that has the different resort/park logos on there. I think it is Magical Ears but when I go there, it's changed and I can't find them.
Can somebody help?
I really liked the shirt with all the different parks on it but I wanted to do something a little different for our trip. Can't do anything without the clipart! :guilty:

For lower prices on IRON ON TRANSFER try Ebay.
I paid $13.50 including shipping for 40 sheets, brother brand.

We're doing the FMT on our last morning, Dec 5.
why didn't yo say that before? ;)

Anyone out there able to give me a few tips on photoimpact. How do you print text at a slant? How do you add background to a picture? Any hints, please! Thanks
Tracy
To add a background make a new layer - I think you right click in the layer box - and then either copy in a background or fill it using the paint can.
To tilt text select the text using the resize icon - form the left hand size - and some tilit buttons appear in the top toolbar...
hope this helps

It's every day at 10am. It's $25 per person (over age 3), and they do offer a AAA discount. Not sure if they offer an AP discount, and I think right now you can get the Disney Visa discount on the tour. Call tours at 407-939-8687 to schedule it. If you do a search on the Park Attractions or Family boards, you'll get a lot of results. It gets great reviews. Very fun, very silly, and you get a private meeting with a character (can vary, but most often is PP and Wendy). It fills up fast and is usually around 20 people or so.

That would be perfect! And on mine, could you add December 2005 (below FMT and above PP)? And I'm going to make a donation to the DIS boards in your name as a thank you. I'll ask the moderators to credit it to your userID, so you'll get the icon. You have been so wonderful to all of us on here!
OK, I've got to ask: where did you get the characters' autographs?
The autographed photographs were each individual desktop wallpaper that I downloaded from some website probably a year or so ago. Unfortunately, I do not remember what site that was. To make the design I deleted the backgrounds for each and rearranged them on a brick wall background. If I stumble across them again, I'll let you know.

I'm going to try a dark tshirt this weekend if I have time. I got transfer paper by Burlington that is supposed to work on dark colors, but it does say you have to trim around the entire design because the transfer is white.

Thanks! I used the tie dye kit from Michaels, also noticed Wal-Mart sells the same kit, it has the rubber bands, 3 bottles of dye etc. After the shirts were washed they weren't as vibrant
To get the rings on the sides I just pinched up some fabric and began moving my hand downward so it resembed a closed umbrella and started putting rubber bands on it. I used 4 rubber bands (it was a big shirt).

uh oh - I sense more tees coming on... I couldn't see the map picture so I stuck the url in my broswer and then thought... hmm what other backgrounds are here... found the right URL and voila:
http://www.disneyexperience.com/paper1.htm
So many backgrounds for us to design tees with! And a great one of cindy and the prince that I could incoroprate into my wedding invitations!!!
I've gotta go to work now but tonight I'll be glued to photo impact :cheer2:

I'm going to try a dark tshirt this weekend if I have time. I got transfer paper by Burlington that is supposed to work on dark colors, but it does say you have to trim around the entire design because the transfer is white.
I'll post my results here.
So does this mean if you have white in your design it will show up white on the shirt? I was worried about this since there is no white ink and some of my designs have quite a bit of white in them. I didn't want Pooh's white sailor hat to end up yellow because I put it on a yellow shirt. Does anyone know if this is the case? :confused3

I just went and checked Julia's shirt from last year and the white on Aurora's dress is white on her pink shirt -
if you can on your printer make sure you choose transfer paper - I am not sure but that might be what triggers the printer to print white

All these are so great!!!
I tie-dyed some shirts. THe first ones didn't come out as well as the seond ones. But they are all pretty good considering I lack the crafty gene.
P.S. I made my own dye from the powder (I wanted specific colors that no kit provided) for the first shirts. Purple came out grainy. For the second batch, I bought a kit. The blue ink in the kit had kind of leaked out of its bottle. So before I knew what was going on, I had blue speckles all over my clothes (the ones I went to Michaels in, mind you), all over the kitchen - more specifically my fantastic Williams and Sonoma brand new orange towels, the tile floor (easier to remove). You couldn't see the ink powder until it got wet and then WOW blue ink everywhere! UGH

I just bought transfer paper at Office Depot (it's office depot brand) - it says if you want it Matte- lift the paper 3-5 seconds after ironing, if you want Glossy then wait until it cools. I bought 100% Cotton shirts at Walmart. Of course, now my other two want a shirt to wear to disney, so I might be at this awhile! I've got three days until we leave ;)
It was scary to try, but it wasn't so bad. Personally, I would've liked a matte finish better, but she wanted it to be shiny.

Well, I don't have any of these shirts (but I will very shortly!) but we did the Mickey tie-dye shirts last fall and got LOTS of attention with them. I'd post a pic but we just moved and have a new ISP that I can't figure out so can't host photos....but my avatar is of the middle of my shirt! :) Characters let us know how much they loved them, as well as lots of CM's and other visitors :)
And for everyone doing shirts, Wal-Mart has pretty decent 100% cotton shirts on sale for $3.84 each right now....in kid boy, kid girl, and mens departments! Didn't see any in womens so I got mens for me, too, but I was kinda in a hurry by then and might have missed them. I picked up several sets to do for us....PLUS, it's tax-free week right now (in FL, I know, and I think in GA, too) so I went ahead and stocked up :)

My DD's shirt (posted on page 1 of this LONG thread) didn't generate all that much attention, unfortunately. Then again, it wasn't as cool as the other designs on this thread! It said "Celebrating my 5th birthday with a few friends," but none of the CMs seemed to realize it was her birthday until she walked up and told them.
It was funny; telling the CMs it was her bday generated so much pixie dust that for weeks afterward, she would walk up to waitresses, hostesses, cashiers, etc and say, "It was my birthday a few days ago." I think she was surprised when no one gave her a pin, gave her a cupcake, or sang to her like they did at WDW!
