Hi MidNite. It's a little OT but, I was wondering if you had any idea where I could find one of those pintrader logo's with Tinkerbell. You seem so "INTERNET savvy" LOL. I've been googling images but I cant find any. I tried copying the image from someones sig but it's too blurry. Any ideas??? Thanks :wave2:
I see you are a night owl, too. Is it one o'clock in the morning, where you are?? :teeth:
I'm not sure about the logo. I don't know that I've seen it? I probably have, but I don't recall.
It's 12:35 here :)
Sleeping is boring. :p PLUS I got a lot of work left to do!!!

HELP !!!
I just did a test print (on regular paper) of the design that MidNite made for me, and it only printed out 1/4 of the design. Does this mean that I will have to overlap the entire design to get it onto the shirt? :scared1:
Am I doing this wrong? :sad2: I wanted to do the shirts this week, and now I am totally confussed

Just a suggestion, check the page layout to be sure it is either lanscape or portrait depending on the design, and also check the image size to be sure it will fit a standard piece of paper, or transfer paper (usually 11x8.5) I had to tweek those two things for my printing to work.

Does anyone have any clever ideas for a Food & Wine Festival shirt to wear at Epcot? Would like something to go on the back of a t-shirt and maybe just put the epcot logo on the front?? Only one cup of coffee so far this morning and my brain is still sound asleep :rotfl2: Probably because I stayed up so late last night looking at all the great shirts on this board :teeth:

I have no knowledge of how to do things in paint or adobe (i downloaded the free trial of Photoshop last night, but am afraid to use it.
" hello, my name is Donna, and I am graphically-challanged........"
BUT, i did just try this.....I have the image saved as MY PICTURES, and when I view it, I clicked on the image, told it to print and it then opened up the Photo Printing Wizard. I told it to print the image as a full page (as a black/white test) and it seems to have worked.
I don't know WHAT I did, but I hope I can do it again....... :rolleyes1

Your shirt looks GREAT!!!! I absolutely LOVE it. I can't believe you found a graphic of Goofy with a pencil. I couldn't find anything with Mickey like that. I ended up using a clipart with him and a pointer and editing it to look like chalk. I like Mickey laughing at what Goofy did. :rotfl2:

You may have to resize it to fit your printing media. :(
Open the photo in Paint.
Go to Image/Attributes (or Ctrl+E) and select Inches.
Enter the dimensions of your paper.
You might want to do a test run on a plain piece of paper to be sure it does fit.
Then either print the picture from there, or save and close it.

I'm completely guessing, because I don't use the program. But if i were to see the boxes like that I would think one of two things was happening:
1. either I didn't have enough RAM to run the program (and I'd try shutting everything else down to see if that helped.)
2. there might be a "preview" setting that isn't showing things pasted in.
It could be something completely different, but that's where I would start.

Thanks for any help you can give me.Do you mean that the background is white and you can't overlap pictures without seeing the white box? I'm having that same problem. If the picture is very simple, I use printshop to freehand crop the white background out. It's very tedious work. I wish there was an easier way. I think some of the better programs have a way of doing it, but I don't know what they are or how they work.

Hi Everyone,

Let me first say that you all are outstanding designers! Those shirts are excellent!
Due to this thread, I have become inspired to make my own trip shirts. I had Disney Direct do one for our March trip, but they were lacking the pizazz of these here on the DIS.
I plan on practicing by making shirts for our trip to Hershey Park and Spa. I am having a hard time coming up with a neat catch phrase (let alone graphics...that is going to be tough!). Anyone have suggestions for me?

Just to clarify something, are you seeing the clipart but there's a white background? If so, then ignore what I wrote. That is just the background that comes with an image. You have to select and delete it.

Julia and Nicks mom--how do I get the image you created for me to come out larger on paper? I am using Word, printing on 8.5 x 11 paper and want it to fill up most of the page. I tried a practice print, and the image seems rather small. Is that something that has to change on your end, or can I fool with it? Maybe just changing the lettering to all caps would make it appear larger. TIA!

Wow, these are all so great, I'm so impressed and humbled by your talents!!! ALL of you!!!
I have a couple of requests, if anyone's interested in doing more designs. The first is for my daughter Aurora, in the picture in my signature. We named her Aurora, after Sleeping Beauty, so of course she is always a princess to us. Problem is ;) her favorite Disney character is Buzz Lightyear! :rotfl: So I was thinking some sort of front/back shirt design would be cute....something along the lines of FRONT: My parents think I'm a princess because my name's Aurora... and BACK: But really I'm a SPACE RANGER like BUZZ! with those two characters on their respective front/back sides. ?? What do you think?
Second request is....we are the Welch Family. My family always travels with my husband's parents, who are just as big of Disney fans as we are. This trip coming up, it's a surprise to my husband that we are staying at POFQ. He thinks we are staying at POP. I thought it would be fun to surprise everyone on the trip with shirts that have POFQ on them as we drive under the arch at the WDW entrance, and tell him that way that our resort is POFQ. It would be a family trip shirt, so if you want our names they are: Poppy, Grammy, Darrin, Lora, Nick, and Aurora.
I really want to try the tie-dying idea myself, but I"m scared to. I've never tie-dyed anything!

How fun to see all the new designs!
I made Incredibles T's for us this weekend using the downloads from the Incredibles website. Made DH Mr. Incredible, me Elastigirl (Mrs), DD(6) Violet, DS(4) Dash, and DD(2) Jack Jack. It was DH's birthday so I ordered an Incredible cake and got an Incredible card. I also made masks from the same website. It's was DH's 50th and he seemed a bit sensitive about it so I didn't want to make a big deal so I thought this would fun to do and keep things light. He really seemed to enjoy it. The website also has a download for Frozone. I used Avery iron ons and noticed when I purchased them that they are available in 4 x 6 size now which might be good for folks doing small logos on front or back of T's. I was going to try using my flat stove top to iron but the instructions said not to use glass so I just used my butcher block counter with a pillow case. I have now put the T's away for our Oct trip so they'll stay clean. We'll have to wear them to MGM and find the "real" Incredibles.
Can't wait to see more great designs. I'm sure I'll be making T's for our trip before Oct rolls around!

After reading through this thread, which I absolutely love, I thought I would try to make my own. I just downloaded some disney clip art and went into word and made a kindof basic design. I used the waltograph font and picked a different character for each of us. (My DH,myself, our two DD (11) (6), and my BIL his, wife and DD(8).) I just need to get the shirts to transfer the design to. Wish me luck... :p GREAT thread by the way. :goodvibes

Ok everyone... we aren't going until Dec, but I am trying to think up a good one for my son.
He will be turning 5 when we are there and his birthday is December 5th... the same as Walt's.
I want to make a design that incorporates the fact that it's his and Walt's birthday-day.
What do you think?

For the Hershey question........Hershey is the Sweetest place on Earth! Not my idea actually one Hershey uses in its ads.
We have season passes and they are not kidding. Lately they even have been passing out chocolates at the enterance when the kids measure themselves for the height limits of each ride. Kisses for the kiss height, PB cups for the Reeses height, etc. They also have been handing out chocolates at the end of some of the bigger rides beside the usual peice at the end of the "ride" in Chocolate World.
Have fun! I would love to see your finished idea so and the girls and I will look for you and your family.

Hobby Lobby is selling their junior and adult tees half off this week. I "think" I recall they normally sell for $3.99, so $2 is a great price and they usually have a good color selection.
Also, I posted last week about A.C. Moore having their shirts on sale for 2/$5...that price is good through tomorrow (26th).

It looks like there are two different manufacturer's rebates - both of which would require you to send in the UPC label. I'm wondering if you can actually use both rebates since you wouldn't have two labels? Does anyone know for sure?

First of all ... I just LOVE the shirt designs on the website.
If I could make a suggestion for a few more generic templates??? I'd love to have different shirts for each park (and we're not travelling during Halloween, Christmas or the Food & Wine Festival). Maybe something jungle-y for AK, something futuristic or international for Epcot, something ... er ... cinematic for MGM?

One of them says the Round Emblem from the bottom of the box and the other one states the UPC Bar Code. So I called my Local CompUSA to see what they said. She was going to go and get a box and see what it looks like and call me back.
Even if you could only use one of the mail in rebates (which I would go for the $30.00 one) it would still bring the Product down to $49.00. It would still be a good deal.
I will post as soon as I hear back from her.

One (the $30 one) requires the UPC symbol and the other ($20) one requires proof of purchase symbol from inside flap of box. There shouldn't be any problem in receiving both rebates.
Mom2Ashli
07-25-2005, 02:23 PM
The lady from CompUSA just called me back. She seems to think there is a round emblem on the inside flap of the box for one of the rebates and than the other is asking for the UPC bar code from the bottom of the box. She couldn't be 100% sure without opening one of the boxes which she explained she couldn't do. She did say that one of the rebates expires 7/30/05.
Hope that helps.

Love all the shirt ideas...I'm going to have to give it a whirl...now to just decide on which one I'm going to do. I really like those tie-dye mickey shirts...but then that spray on tie-dye...looks good also.... My question for that one though is how did you get such a big perfect looking Mickey head? And how did you make it so the spray didn't go over the line.
Oh...and loved the "Dis lurker" costume...VERY cute. :goodvibes
To make the Mickey head, I really had to play around with dimensions. I had a pic of Mickey that I referenced and kept trying until it looked right. I traced around a salad plate and two saucers. Once it looked right I transferred that pattern onto fun foam and cut it out carefully from the inside. I used the "outside" piece as the stencil. To make sure spray didn't go over the outside of the stencil I placed newspaper on the shirt that was showing. It was so easy.
I just recently used some of the leftover spray for my daughters sixth b-day party. Her guests spray-dyed some cute tank tops.
I also found some white spray by Tulip that works really well on dark t-shirts. For DS's b-day, they made t-shirts with their "Jedi" names on them and sprayed all over with the white. Very cute shirts.

Here is my signature line. Someone from here once asked me for the high res version to make a shirt. I'd love to see how it came out. I never thought of making a shirt but I'm thinking of doing the tye dye one. I have 2 shirts I've been hanging onto and to tye dye and I already have a kit from a store I got awhile back.
i'll post a pic if I do end up making one.

Love this thread so much. Using Julia & Nick's Mom's MNSSHP design to wear to the Oct 6th party. I will post a pic of the shirt when I get it actually made, my hubby has to print it out on the transfer at work because we don't have a great printer.
Julia & Nick's Mom
Got a request if you have time........
My husband & I are doing the 1/2 marathon in January & I would love to have a shirt to wear that celebrates this milestone.
Mickey running for him & maybe Minnie for me.
The McDaniels run Disney......something along that line......you all are so creative, I am sure you can think of something great.
Thanks,
Melanie :wave2:

I use google search and select images and then type in what I am looking for and it brings up images from all different websites. I can't remember the exact website I got that from though sorry :( I made another like that but I can't decide which one I like better? Any suggestions?

HI all, thanks to the wonderful tips and threads and help from fellow diser's (Especially to Midnite & Julia & Nick'smom) I took the plunge.
I learned quite a few things about tie dying (have the stains on my hands to prove it :rotfl2: ). I have another batch of 4 shirts that are setting right now, will post them tomorrow night. Here is what I learned....
1. Use plastic trash bag instead of newspaper (newsprint would bleed every so often)
2. Use a darker color for the Mickey outline and a lighter color next.
3. Double, triple or quadruple rubber bands to create white outline (am trying this on new batch).
4. Don't answer the phone with lots of dye on your gloves :rolleyes1
5. Leave some areas white so there are specks of lighter colors in rest of shirt.
6. Don't use doubled up fishing line for outline (got tangled and broke)
Here is what I am doing differently on my next batch ( I am a perfectionist, so this may not be the last batch..luckily Michael's has a sale on shirts right now :rotfl: ).
1. Using black for mickey head
2. Used 6 rubber bands (doubled) between black mickey head and next color (which is yellow)
3. Mix colors and leave more white "specks"
4. Wrap tighter and let sit longer. I got 2 different dye packs, one said let sit 24 hrs. one said let sit 4-8 hours. I let it sit about 18 hours, will let it set whole 24.
Anyway, pics below are of all shirts (got shirt too big for me so DH modeled extra shirt). I think I did "OK" for a 1st try, but am hopeful the others will come out better. Will post again when done.
Again, Thanks MidNite & Julia & Nick's Mom for your tolerance and wonderful generosity!!! :flower3:

And I must say, the people on this thread are so talented!! Thank you Midnite for our celebrat8 tshirt. And the Haunted Mansion one for the MNSSHP.
We're going to the first one in September...... :cool1:
First of all ... I just LOVE the shirt designs on the website.
If I could make a suggestion for a few more generic templates??? I'd love to have different shirts for each park (and we're not travelling during Halloween, Christmas or the Food & Wine Festival). Maybe something jungle-y for AK, something futuristic or international for Epcot, something ... er ... cinematic for MGM?
Thanks tons!

How about this for a Disney-MGM Studios design? It could be customized in the upper left corner.

I have never been tempted to join a discussion board on any site, any where, until I stumbled upon this thread while planning our upcoming Disney trip. I have looked at many web boards and been put off by the negative, adversarial nature of most of them. Congratulations folks! Your amazing talents and generosity towards one another have convinced me that all humanity is not lost! Thank you for sharing your beautiful designs and for helping one another. In my opinion, this is the internet at its best! Keep up the good work. I check daily for the new designs and have even begun working on one of my own. I may need to check in for help later! :flower3: (I too am having trouble downloading the photoimpact trial.)

Holy Cow! I've never seen such talented and GENEROUS people in my life. These shirts are absolutely amazing. It's been 10 years since DH and I went to Disney for our honeymoon, and now we're taking our triplets in December for their 1st time. I'm blown away by all the terrific designs.
So, do people wear a special shirt every day of their trip, or for just a few of the days? We'll be in the parks for 7 days, so that would mean a lot of designs. :cool1: Since we're going in "winter" would I need to transfer them to long sleeve shirts or sweatshirts, or would you still do short sleeve?
I was trying to think of themes I could link together (triplets). Maybe each child with the same design but a different color and character? Ideas I could use help with are:
MVMCP shirts (I like the "MVMCP star" one but it only has 4 characters on it, and I need 5)
Kids first trip to WDW (the different character but same design) ie Buzz, Woody, and Little Bo Peep shirt
Peter Pan, Captain Hook, and Tink (or Wendy) shirt for our Family Magic Tour
PRINCE shirts for my 2 boys (John Smith, Prince Charming, Prince Eric, Prince Phillip, Peter Pan) to wear at all those Princess meals (we're doing 3~ ;) )
DD would love ANY princess shirt (general or holiday)
My boys would love a Villian shirt with Maleficent, Cpt Hook, etc
Pooh character shirts (general or holiday)
General Christmas shirts (family of 5 so need 5 characters)
Any other cute ideas? I don't think DH will wear a shirt, but the kids and I will. maybe a GRUMPY shirt for DH? :rotfl2: That would be perfect!

I just updated my post by the time you responded. WOW! You are really awesome. BTW, my kids "colors" (multiples tend to color code EVERYTHING! Even my tags are color coded!) are hot pink, orange, and blue.
Orange DS likes Cpt Hook, Woody, Princes, Pooh and Tigger
Blue loves Maleficent, Peter Pan, Buzz, Princes (especially John Smith), Pooh and Tigger
Any other Boy/Boy/Girl ideas for triplets?
Thanks for the help!

Does anyone know whether there's a legal issue with printing your own t-shirt with the Disney characters on to wear yourself (not to sell)? I was speaking to a guy today who owns a printing business. He said i could end up in trouble if I did this! He said that I would be breaking copyright.
Anyone know?

I am pretty sure if you are not selling them - there is no problem
I have made my kids personal t-shirts for Disney before and the CM's have done NOTHING but rave about them -
Disney does have t-shirt software to make your own t-shirts and you can customize shirts at zazzle.com so I am not really sure that Disney wants to be in the business in trying to determine the difference!!!

It depends Jen. Cotton would be the best. If you use something else be careful of the heat setting. Usually the package your transfer paper comes in will give specific details as to material and surface to transfer onto. :earsboy:

No. there is no problem. I am a Intellectual Property attorney and I teach this stuff. Individual use like this, while it could be considered technically copyright infringement, should fall under the fair use exception. You are not selling, it is for personal use....It isnt a perfect fair use argument but I have never seen a case where something you made for yourself(few family members) was sued upon.

Here is a copy of a PM I sent to someone yesterday explaining how:
You will first need to make sure the photo you are wanting to post on the board is already uploaded to a location somewhere on the internet. You cannot post a photo on the board that is located on your computer's hard drive.
There are lots of free photo hosting places out there; I use photobucket.com. Go there and register for a free account, and then follow their instructions for uploading pictures. Once you get the photos uploaded, you will see an address (http://....etc) for each photo. THAT is what you should put into the IMG insert text box field when you are posting here on the board. It tells the board the location/address of your photo, where it is on the internet.

You are so creative! Unbelievable! For a prince shirt, is there any way to get the Princesses Princes put together on a shirt saying something like "Going to WDW to find my Princess?" Princes could include Prince Charming (Cindy), Prince Eric (Ariel), Prince Philip (Aurora), the Beast (Belle), John Smith (Pocahontas), Aladdin (Jasmine), Prince from Snow White. Am I missing any? That would be a great boys shirt!

Thanks to julia & nicks mom, I successfully downloaded the free PotoImpact 30 day trial. Woo hoo!
Now I'm wondering if someone can help me figure out how to delete the background from a clipart image. I can see where the dotted line is around the image, but can't figure out how to get rid of the background. Normally I would just play around with it all day, but I'm trying to get ready to go out of town and I don't have that much time.
Anyone?

Hey I have another idea. You could do Huey, Dewey, and Louie shirts. Those are Donald Duck's nephews I believe. I think they would make cute shirts. :)

first - select your item - on the left of the screen is a toolbar - there looks like what appears to be an eraser - when you click on its arrow - it says object amgic eraser - if you choose this - it erases all of one color - so if your background is white - boom done! - you can choose different degrees of matching - so you can get all shades of blue - but be careful if it matches something in what you want - it will be erased

Is that how you made the white lines through the letters in your MVMCP design?

I have never used 8.0 - but if it is like 10.0 - there is an arrow - click on that - then click on the object -if it doesn't appear to be chosen (like if you opened a jpeg) then cut the object out and repaste it - then you will be able to play with it as it will no longer be considered the base of the design

I love the idea of wearing a themed t shirt while riding the mountain!! :rotfl:
And AMY, I think it was, love your MGM Studios one with the brick background!
I wish I could take the credit, but that was my DH's (Kevin's) design. This is, by far, his favorite thread on the Dis! All he talks about is t-shirt designs! :teeth:

It depends Jen. Cotton would be the best. If you use something else be careful of the heat setting. Usually the package your transfer paper comes in will give specific details as to material and surface to transfer onto. :earsboy:

Any tips on how to actually do the iron on? The ones I did look good but they appear to be "cracked" somewhat similar to an old oil painting. I don't know how long they will last. I used Avery sheets and found the directions a bit confusing. Step 1-printing (easy...). Step 2 total ironing time depending on the size of the transfer and tell you to iron in a circular motion. Step 3 Ironing but they tell you to iron back and forth not circular. The paper was easy to remove so I'm thinking I did it long enough. I use the highest heat setting on my iron and used a butcher block counter top with a pillow case.
Any more hints?
Love all the designs.
thelionqueen-love your tie dyes but can't decide which I like better. I do like that the black Mickeys are more defined but I like the colorful Mickeys too. Great job! I'm not really up for that mess with my 3 little ones running around. I had thought about stamping some Mickey heads on a T with fabric paint but I think I'll stick to nice clean iron ons. :teeth:

To make the white border, I took rubber bands and wrapped really, really tight for about 2" of shirt. For example, instead of just binding 1 rubberband, I used like 10 or so and binded them for about 2 inches. The ink bleeds cuz the shirts are wet, so I wanted to make sure even if it did bleed, I would still have the white border..it worked. I might do it a little bit less next time for a smaller white border, but that's what I did.
Thanks again, good luck!!

Great - thanks for the info - I was only using one rubber band around the mickey head and two rubber bands along the "body" of the shirt I guess that's why I didn't get the effect you did - I like the amount of white you have as a border.
