What is your own personal interest in a DVC resort at the Contemporary?

Assumptions:
* Same 2054 ending date as SSR--assume about 45-46 years of ownership (roughly 2008 to 2054.)
* Point schedules probably a bit higher than current at BWV/BCV/VWL.
* No "Standard View" component.
* DVC rooms would be in one of the Garden Wings, NOT the tower.
* Resort is in the neighborhood of 200-300 DVC rooms (between BCV and BWV sized.)

My interest would be mild to none. Contemporary is my least favorite resort, and MK is my least favorite park.

Personally, I have very little to no interest at all in it.

I suppose around 2038, if I wanted to try something different, we could give it a shot, but it's highly doubtful.

If it weren't for the rehab, my interest would be nil. However, after seeing the pics of the rehabed model I will re-think this....

....Okay, re-thinking done. I might opt to stay there at some point (which I wouldn't have done before rehab), but I doubt I would buy points. :drinking:

i WOULD stay there because because of the monorail convenience and the nostalgic factor (our family stayed there every trip we took in the 80s).

I have no interest in the CR whatsoever.

MGLOL, Maistre. Thought I was the only one. If it weren't for those pictures, I would have voted no interest at all. Instead, I voted might stay occasionally. Would not buy.

Best wishes -

Like the poll, but the audience here is pretty set already. Its kind of more of an "add on" question on this forum IMO. More interested in what someone actively looking to buy DVC (or add on) would say, esp compared to SSR being currently offered. I voted if price is right but then again I may add on BWV before VCR if it came down to it.

Always wanted to try out the CR. It took about 7 yrs of trying to convince my family but finally did. We stayed there for two nights last summer. Everyone loved it!!! Even got used to the room decor. Since we were there the same time as H. Charlie, there were a lot of things we couldn't do...swim, eat at CM's when we were supposed to, back and forth to MK, boat to FW/WL. But we will be staying there again, I'm sure. If one wing became DVC, we would be right there, on the phone, at the 7 month mark!!

I'd have some interest in staying at a Contemporary DVC occasionally, but not in owning there. The more DVCs the merrier, IMO, so even though I wouldn't buy points there, it would be an interesting addition to the family.

I don't think I'd be interested, but I haven't seen the pictures. If it got Maistre Gracey's attention, I might better check it out! Where do I find them?

One of my happiest moments was seeing the CR. Remembered Disney 'revealing' the plans for it, it just looked too cool for school! Yes, I would stay there but buying more pts? perhaps VWL first..

I'd never give up or not use my BWV points, nor would I stop staying at OKW (which I don't own, but love too).

I would however be willing to pay a hefty premium to own and be able to stay at the CR around Halloween & Chirstmas!

I consider myself to be very interested in a possible offering!

I could see staying there once in a while. We stayed in a tower room in December of '03 and it was wonderful to be to walk back to the room after MVMCP. We won't be buying any points there however because we have all the points we need right now.

Like other DVC resorts....I'd try it once if it were available but I'll stay at SSR!

we had our second stay there over a weekend a couple of weeks ago. Both times we've stayed there we had a magic kingdom view. I like the polly a lot, I love the wilderness lodge, but it is hard to beat the cont. view.

And you know, it IS the tomorrowland hotel, the only one you can see from tomorrowland, every bit as much as the polly is the adventureland hotel or the wilderness's are for staying in frontierland. There is something just cool about that. There is something really cool about the monorail going right through the hotel. The shops are great, the restaurants are good, it couldn't be any more convenient. It is as disney world as you can get, with all that nostalgia and memory of it being there always.

I'm not really that interested in staying in the wings though. A lake view might be nice, but they are sort of out there. I wouldn't mind if we got a lake view from the tower really, but the magic kingdom view is hard to beat for fireworks, etc. Wow, the fireworks are cool to watch from the balcony. Beats the daylights out of illuminations from bcv.

I would buy it for the proximity to the MK. And I am planning to purchase another 150 point contract in a couple of years so that I can have two 150 contracts, one for my son to inherit and one for my daughter, I think the extra years would be good for my younger daughter. So, I won't have that far to go when i visit with my grandchildren some day, (I hope). Count me in!!

Finally someone who understands me!!

You're CERTAINLY not "alone"!!
The ability to hear the whistle of the WDWRR steam locomotives in the morning is another thing that really makes it special to us! :)

And the premo view of the EWP from the marina dock! :)

We LOVE the CR ! :)

We might stay once in a while for the closeness to the MK, but we already own at VWL, sot that should suffice. 500 points is all we need. Won't be buying any more.

That decor is a touch too sterile for me. Obviously, a DVC room would not look exactly like the rehab rooms. That said, the cornerstone of real estate is location---and the location is perfect for those of us with kids in the under 7 crowd. I'd be more tempted to add on there than at SSR.

I'm hoping & waiting impatiently for an announcement...want to add onto our small resale contract & would hate to purchase somewhere else, then have the Contemporary announced. Guess we'll all know in a year or so

I think Disney could utilize the location and build the most popular DVC resort ever. It might be better to change the contemporary theme and build a new resort from the foundation up.

They could design some nice resort attractions like a roof top observation deck with a few Jacuzzis, catwalk into the monorail level transportation deck, walkway to MK and a new pool.

For the criteria you mention, what little interest I have in just staying at the CR would be squashed completely. Stayed at the CR last Dec. in a Garden wing room and hated it. It's all in staying in the tower as far as I can tell....maybe if we had a tower room it would have made our experience different. To only be able to stay in the garden wings though...NO interest whatsoever, especially having to pay more points for a wing room  And then of course because their would be a DVC option (this being in the garden wing) they would end up eliminating the option of staying in the tower on pts so there goes being able to stay in the tower altogether unless I want to pay the outrageous cash price through CRO...which I didn't want to pay hence the fact that we opted to try out the garden wing.

As far as buying into CR...No interest in that at all. Love our home resort of OKW and have a few other favorites that I'd buy into first before buying at the CR anyway.

Lately I've had a bad case of "add-on-itis". But checking out the photos of the refurbished rooms and Happy Birthday Cat's thread about the mouseplanet rumors, I'm definitely holding out for VCR. I would buy in the moment I hear the announcement!

We had a great experience staying in the South Garden wing about three years back. Best place I've ever viewed the Electrical Water pageant! Some of the Garden Wing rooms sit within feet of the edge of Bay Lake. We loved the size of the rooms for a family of 5 (even though they were a bit frayed) and the relative quiet compared to the Tower. Nice to be right on site with Chef Mickey's and the California Grill.

Come on DVC, make the announcement!!!

I would love to own at the CR. I have stayed there many times and love it!
I have always found it a convenient place to stay.
Hope they offer them soon! :cheer2:

I haven't purchased DVC yet, but if the Contemporary became available, I would have to grab that. It's my son's favorite resort. I would hope they would make at least one floor available for DVC, but even the wings are great, in my opinion (love the monorail access everywhere).

I don't understand why someone would use points on it now. Depending on when you go, you "pay" more (by not renting out the points) by almost $70 per night on Sunday through Thursday, and by as much as $300 on Friday and Saturday.

Anyway, count me in if it happens.

I like Contemporary but not enough to buy there. Now if DVC builds at AKL or Poly that is a different matter. I would buy points at those locations!!

Ditto. I would probably try and stay at the CR once just for the experience but our home resort will be VWL which is close enough to MK for me.
