Virtual Magic Kingdom Game (Beta Launch)

Maybe we could even add another room that's linked to the Dis hang out room, or maybe a second lobby that will connect w/the hang out room (for more teleporters).

Great minds think alike :) In my original way-too-long to read detailed post (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=8877108&postcount=726) describing the setup, I did mention:
- if we need more common rooms in the future, we could use the other non-coffin teleporters to link to additional common rooms

- if we need more lobby space for more personal teleporters, we could create more lobby rooms, and then link together the lobby rooms. Perhaps each lobby room could link to a different common room.

My thought was to use the Lobby room(s) as "hubs" that linked to "Hangout Rooms" and personal rooms. My personal preference would be to NOT have hangout rooms have more teleporters, because these "chains" of rooms will be harder to navigate; of course, the owner of the room can do whatever they want.

I'd like to fill up the current lobby with personal coffins first (that really sounds disturbing); this should minimize people hanging out in the lobby to chat, because there will be no room to sit or gather. Also, a more concentrated hub will be more efficient. When the lobby is filled, we'll choose a specific teleporter type (boat perhaps) that will link to another lobby room.

If the primary hangout room ends up filling up too often, we'll add another teacup that will link to hangout room number two, probably from lobby room two.

How's that sound?

I think I was there too when that one character wouldn't move, and then later I tried again but the ropes were up so I couldn't get into the room to go into the teleporters.

I didn't have anyone on my friends list that was on at the time to go into their room to teleport to the lobby, so I was out of luck!

Once I get enough credits I can teleport through my own room...but im about 225 short right now, I should get them tonight when I play some games and click on the characters (Yenti, Ned etc..)


I will make sure to add you to my friends list ASAP when I see you again. The same goes for trstno1. I was trying to invite you to be my friend, but you left the room before I got the chance! :)

You can change the room name by clicking the little "i" button in the bottom left corner of your screen while you are in your room.

And I misread the "give you my other half" at first to mean you were offering your spouse! That's what I used to say to refer to my dw. :)

I'll be on tonight, but after I do the dishes. I think multiple nights in a row of Dis'ing and VMK'ing without doing my share of chores is about to make MY "other half" a little... grouchy.

I hope you didn't think I was being a pain - I realise now that you are trying to get people to not hang around in that room and talk but get on into the other rooms. I was just pleased to get the chance to talk to someone from the Dis!

I am having fun in the game - and I would welcome the chance to chat to some Disers there. I think I have only really talked to a couple of other adults in the game - so I hope to meet a few more of you guys.

Of course I remember! (I think I even said something about think we had met at some point before, and I remember trying to type "across the pond", but it wouldn't let me say "pond".) I'm sorry if I came across a little snippety; the lag was so bad that I would type and watch the characters come out 1 character per second, it was awful, so I was trying to be brief!

It's funny what you say about trying to find adults. Besides finding other DIS'ers, another place where "geezers" seem to hang out during the day is in Central Plaza on Main Street. Astryd, aka ValerieK(?) on the Dis, is frequently holding a bench down there, and there are often more old folks there. That's where I usually go to watch the VMK go by.

Regarding your fireworks question, can't help you. I have yet to break 200k.

Regarding the Lobby and teleporters, that refers to a little project that I've been organizing, linking together people's personal rooms via a teleporter network, with another linked "hangout room" that DoomCookie has kindly donated. For details, see this thread (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=8877108&postcount=726) where I post the details of implementing it; skip to the bottom for instructions on how to get linked into the network.

It's working out nicely, with about 15 rooms linked so far. The first lobby will probably fill soon, so if I can scrape together the credits, I'll start a second lobby that will be linked to the first lobby.

It's in Frontierland, one of the lands not currently fully open yet. But you can get to the store, I think, in 2 ways:

1) walk through the Frontierland entrance off Main Street
2) get off the monorail at the Frontierland stop

After being to the store and double-clicking on the cash register, in the future you'll be able to shop there without actually going there. On the other hand, people have said that the inventory occasionally changes, and you have to actually go there again to check.

This is a little tricky - you need to get 200,00 points and still lose to someone else. Then you get the Maleficent's Evil Fortress Room and the fourth pin available from the fireworks game.

The Level 2 pin is a little tricky to get. You need to make it to the fourth level in the game, then lose. I like the Level 2 pin a lot, and it's cool that a lot of people don't have it.

I can't score 240K on my computer. The game runs too slow and the curser sticks for some reason when I move it from side to side too fast. I also cannot change my icons as fast as I used to before they had the 10 Player minimum addition

Thanks to the one and only pumpkinfish (aka MissBelle on VMK), we now have a second lobby to put personal teleporters in! Her lobby is linked to the original lobby via another set of tea cups.

So, if you'd like to install a teleporter link from your own room to the Dis teleporter network, just buy a coffin teleporter from the Golden Horseshoe Mercantile, install one of them in your own room, and trade the other one to either MissBelle or Bezoar!

Maybe I can help you...
Go to your desktop and right click, then go to Properties and then to settings.
From there go to your screen resolution and change it to 1024 X 768 Pixels, click apply and you should be good to go, I have to do this everytime I go into the VMK.

I purchased the coffin teleporters. I put one in my room. JeanJoe(aka: Bezoar) & Pumpkinfish(aka: MissBelle), I will look for you sometime later or tonight to get the 2nd teleporter to one of you for the lobby room.

Kind of cool: VMK seems to be developing communities for different Disney boards. I was walking around yesterday (got a little restless from the "usual" haunts :) and visited another teleporter network.

Turns out, it's a bunch of people at the Intercot boards. They were a nice bunch of people hanging out in their Intercot room (Enter caught, in VMK). They've also started up a teleporter network (e.g., see their map (http://www.intercot.com/boards/ultimatebb.php?/topic/9/7720.html))

Soon there will be little fiefdoms for different communities :)

Maleficent's castle seems so dreary, so maybe I'll try my hand at redecorating a bit.

Hi guys! I didn't play much for about a week; I was out of town. But now I'm back into it, kind of. I still can't play Pirates! I've never been able to play it. It just won't let me in the game. I've reported it, but it hasn't been fixed yet. So I can't do that yet. I think I might have to buy a new mouse for Fireworks, too. (This is really so sad, isn't it! :rolleyes: ) And for the last two days, my Jungle Cruise has been going really slowly before it gets to me for me to board, so I lose a lot of time before the game even starts. Is that happening to anyway else?

So I'm not really playing a lot, it gets frustrating after a while. But I go around and look for DISers, try the games, and get my credits from the characters. I'm looking forward to the party on Saturday! I have a party to go to that day. Luckily it's earlier! :teeth:

Hi sage, got your message -- sorry I wasn't able to get online tonight until just before closing. If you see "Bezoar" or "MissBelle", we can place the coffin for you.

A frequent place to find Bezoar is in Central Plaza, but I'm afraid there's a good chance I won't be able to get on until the afternoon or evening. (Hope I don't miss the parade.)

The *rumor* is a total of 8 magic pins:
- invisibility (available via pirates)
- fireworks (semi-available, people still confirming method, thought to be Fireworks score >240k, but still losing to someone else who scored higher)
- dance inferno
- teleportation

- pirate costume
- 3 unknown

I had problems, too, but this is how I got around it. Also, when you put in your screen name for the first time (logging in), put in the whole email address. Hope it works! :)

Are they expanding their hours, every day, or just for weekends, or just for parade day? Or is it a countdown bug...?

LOL! Sorry, I tried to put directions in the room description.

The setup is:

Central Lobby is the HUB, and in that room there are:
- 3 tea cups, which each go to a Lobby filled with personal coffin teleporters
- 1 Jungle Cruise Boat teleporter which goes to the Dis clubhouse. This is the one you were looking for

Each Lobby contains:
- 1 tea cup that brings you back to the Central Lobby (HUB)
- a bunch of personal room coffin teleporters

Tried to keep it simple, but apparently I failed, lol.

"Escape" is a nice personal room of a VMK "Guest" Dis member who gave me a boat instead of a coffin, and so it was banished to a mostly empty lobby, just until I get a coffin. Otherwise, it would get confused with the tea cups and single Boat teleporter to the Dis clubhouse.

It wasn't at the beginning. But:

won -> deleted (can use 'win', but end up sounding like English is my second language half the time)
too / to -> deleted, then reinstated after outcry
tree -> deleted (I now use 'plant')
for -> never taken away
hive -> not yet taken away
sick -> deleted (I now use 'ill')

I'd recommend not trying to use rhymes / homonyms for numbers, because losing the words can be too painful (it was AWFUL without to and too). When people ask if there are "I or too" mickeys in a room, I reply

"There is a mickey" or "There are mickeys".

Yea, I got there an hour before everything was suppose to start. Got on Central Plaza, just chatting right along with everyone else. Then not 10 minutes before it was suppose to start, my screen went WHITE and I was no loger connected to the game.

Then it took me almost 10 minutes to get signed back in...keeped getting the "Your connection has been lost." Then all the sections were FULL! I had to wait almost 10 minutes before I was able to get back on to Central Plaza, and no one was there from first time I was in the area, before I first got booted.

There was just a long line of people and NONE of them were really very helpful. The one in front just keep saying "Everyone get in line!" And everyone else was "WHY!!"

Then the little blue box popped up and told us to go look for some one. But I had no idea if I could leave the Central Plaza area or not. And when I tried to go to Main Street, it said it was too full anyway. So I decided to go to Adventureland, and the little blue boxes keep popping up telling us to look for some one else. But my computer was going so slow, I was just to scared to try anything, thinking that I would be kicked off again.

So I didn't find any one. Did any one here find anyone??

After it was offically over, I thought I would go and play the fireworks game. But it wouldn't let me play. I would wait for the clock to time out, then I would get the black screen then the next thing I know I am in the Fireworks lobby again. Tried this twice! SO, I have just given up for the night. I got my extra points for finding all the charcters, and a made some new music, and played a few tunes. Will just have to try again tomorrow or later tonight. I think it's because their is just so many people on tonight. I saw once whene I was trying to sign in their were over 1,000 people sign on!

This is so you can't give out personal information. The game is geared toward younger kids. It is to keep them safe. And even with that I have still heard from young people that would make you :faint: if they were said to your kid.

There are many "instances" of each room. When you go into a room, it will put you in an "instance" of that room. It may or may not be the one with your friends.

My connection was not lost, but I got kicked out of the "instance" that I was in and could not get in any where on mainstreet.

PinkTink won an Explorers Tent Room - I went to see it, it was cool!

There was a VMK member there asking questions and taking notes. Most people were polite, one wasn't and PinkTink booted him. VMK_Mocha was very nice and wanted to know all the problems we had. She was writing them down and was very patient with all the new people coming into the room and repeating the questions.

On the other hand, I was disappointed in the beginning. I suspect they had a different plan but people were too confused and they gave up on the parade idea. We stood around and chatted like at the real parks. lol People were saying they were thirsty, I offered gum and "passed it down". My room never really got ugly.

I have a big problem with the pirates game. Once the game is over, I must leave the instance ASAP or get booted. And I can't play level two alone or O get booted. :badpc:

Thank you eveyone for the well wishes. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I acutally would have loved to have one of my kids win the room but I knew by the time I could have gotten them there someone else would have found her.

In VMK, however, there's no current great way. BUT... if the haunted mansion room becomes publically available, I believe you can post pictures pretty high on the back wall, so maybe I can take pictures of the owners, label the pictures, and put them on the back wall.

the PArade was a special event VMK producers planned for last night at 7pm est and the rooms you mention were prizes given away after the parade...but I should say non parade because there really was not one.

You probably placed 1st? People are saying you need to score >240k points, but still manage to lose to someone else in order to get the fireworks pin. Certainly seems like you'll have it soon (unlike me, high score ~180k)! Good luck!

Edited to add: scoring over 200k and placing first gets you the the gold fireworks pin (non-magical)

YES! My answer is here! This is perfect! I almost did it today but I beat StarryNight at the last second (argh!!) so she got her second fireworks pin. Sheesh, why do I have to be so good?!? LOL.

Ok, after playing MANY games of Fireworks today, I decided to really make the most of my vacation! LOL

I have earned a lot of credits coming up with these pointers! Now these are just observations and not really "rules of play". I cannot tell you they will always work due to gitches in computer, speed of play, ect.

1). As we know there are 8 total symbols by the end of the 5th round.
2). In rounds 1-3, you always begin with the gold/yellow sun (2nd symbol from left).
3). In rounds 4 and 5 you begin with the purple pretzel (3rd symbol from the left).
4). I have noticed that if you only have one firework on your screen, wait until another appears to click on the original firework, and then only do it after a few seconds.
5). Wait until the firework is begining to flicker rapidly to click on it. If you time it just right (yes, i also listen to the music, LOL) you will get a "flawless" score.
6). As we know, there is a bug in the system that you only get the firework magic pin if you score above 240,000 points but still lose to somebody! :sad2:
7). This one was said before, but you need to click on every firework, even if it means getting a "good" score. Ex: Two fireworks appear on screen away from each other. Instead of timing it and only clicking on one firework to get a "flawless" score, go ahead and click on both to get "good" scores. I can usually time it and get a "good" on one and an "excellant" on the other ;)


Below I have typed out what my last scoring was at the end of each round. I also use this guide as I am playing to make sure I am staying focused and on track. I am hoping it will help you all out too!

The times I get above 240,000 I am generally ahead of each of these rounds by at least 800 points. When I come up with more tips I will post, or anyone else is free to give us their pointers as well :)

I have earned a lot of credits coming up with these pointers! Now these are just observations and not really "rules of play". I cannot tell you they will always work due to gitches in computer, speed of play, ect.
