Hey, everyone! Well, if you were following along in my old journal then you already know quite a bit about me. But if you haven't been, then I will go ahead and tell you a little about me anyway. I am 24 years old and have been married for 5 and 1/2 years to Scott, my wonderful Dh who is 26 years old. We just had a baby girl (our first baby) 15 days ago. Her name is Kylie Noel and she is the love of our lives. I was WISHing before we decided to have a baby and was doing WWs online. I was doing pretty well with it. I was overweight before I got preg. and I gained 29 lbs during my preg. until the very last week and then I gained another 8 that was simply water weight which brought my total gain up to 37 lbs. I have already lost 27 lbs and have 10 left of the preg. weight and then I want to lose at least 50 more on top of that. I may want to lose more than that but that is my first goal. So that means I have 60 lbs to lose right now. I am not giving myself a time limit this time b/c I don't know how my body will do after having a baby. The weight may be harder to lose or the same as before...I don't really know. I plan to start walking on the treadmill again and I am currently doing WWs again (starting today). But I am not "officially" joining again due to money issues (for the time being anyway). I remember enough from doing it last time that I think I will do pretty well on my own. I may not do it to a tee but I figure I will do it pretty well anyway. Dh was told a few weeks ago that he is borderline diabetic so he is going to do it with me and exercise too to try to get that under control. Wish us both luck! Those of you with children will probably nod your heads in agreement when I say I don't have nearly as much free time as I did before DD was born so I am really going to have to manage what little free time I have during her naps, etc. Again...wish us luck! ;)

Thanks everyone! It's great to be back!

Well, I did really well with WWs yesterday. I can't remember how many points I was allotted last time on it but I know I didn't use all of them yesterday. I just am not as hungry right now since I had Kylie which makes sticking with it much easier. I didn't have time to exercise b/c Kylie is going through a phase (just started yesterday actually!) where she wants to be held constantly. You can hold her and she will go to sleep right away but within 10 min. of laying her in her crib or bassinet she wakes up crying. As soon as you pick her up she is fine. We were worried last night would be rough because of it but she actually went to sleep in her bassinet and only woke up once so that was a huge relief. It must be a daytime thing or something. Glad she hasn't started doing it at night yet. (KNOCK ON WOOD!!!) She has wanted to be held a lot today too, but I layed her down (for the 3rd time in an hour, might I add!) in her bassinet 30 min. ago and she is still sleeping so maybe it is going to be just a short-lived phase...hopefully!

Kylie's umbilical cord stub fell off yesterday and we gave her her first "real" bath today. She LOVES baths! She especially likes having her hair washed. According to my mother, I was the same way, so that is another plus. I know a lot of babies don't like baths at first so we are just very lucky. She is actually a pretty easy baby. She usually wakes up twice a night. We change her, feed her, rock her and she goes back to sleep really easily. Well, most nights anyway. We are fortunate so far. My grandparents came to visit today from Florida and they got to see Kylie. It was great. It is the first time in 4 years that I have seen them. It has been a nice day.

I am still doing fine with WWs today. It is really easy right now b/c I don't have much time to think about food with a newborn in the house. Most days I wouldn't remember to eat if Scott didn't bring it up. She just takes up a lot of time. I think I have found the ultimate diet. Have a baby! Of course you have to gain weight first...lol! But anyway, this morning I put on a pair of maternity jeans that haven't fit me since I was 4 months preg. that were too tight 2 days ago. Due to the c-section I haven't attempted wearing my reg. clothes yet since I was told to wear looser clothing for a few weeks. Well, I didn't expect these jeans to fit since they didn't 2 days ago. But they are actually loose on me! So I couldn't resist weighing myself. Dreaded scale always reels me in eventually! But I have lost another 4.5 lbs since 2 days ago. I now only have 5.5 lbs to go till I will be at pre-pregnancy weight! Woo hoo! So today has been a great day in many ways. Oh, and Scott has also done well the past 2 days. I haven't exercised today yet since we have had company and Kylie has been clingy but hopefully tonight I will score a few min. on the treadmill. I can probably get Scott to watch her for a little while if she is still wanting to be held the whole time. Have a great day!

Thanks everyone! :goodvibes

Well, I could have walked on the treadmill last night but didn't. We finally got Kylie to lay down in her crib around 8 p.m. Dh said, "If you want to go work out, I'll listen for her and take care of her if she wakes up." I said, "Do you mind if I take a shower and just unwind instead?" He said sure so I took a nice relaxing shower (I actually really wanted to take a nice soak in the tub but am not allowed to until after my 6 week check up due to the c-section!) and read a chapter in a book and just relaxed. I couldn't believe just holding a baby all day could take so much out of me but I was exhausted! I figured oh, well, at least I am eating okay. One out of the 2 is okay for now in my book. Dh did use the treadmill for a while last night though.

As far as today I have eaten OP once again and am not thinking about food constantly either. Like I said, I have to eat when I get a chance so it isn't constantly on my mind for a good reason! I have not worked out today yet and don't know if I will tonight or not. Depends on how I feel. I am just proud to have been eating OP at this point!

Scott's family is driving me nuts on top of everything else. They won't give us a break! Doesn't help that they all live so close! We finally told them Friday night that we (all of us-me, Kylie, and Scott) need some time to ourselves to just rest! But by this morning his mom had called to see if she could come over. Scott and Kylie were both sleeping so we told her maybe later. But Kylie has been fussy most of the day and wanted to be held again and I just got her back to sleep for a nap so I doubt today will be a good day either, since his mom will be going to church in a couple of hours. Oh, well. At least Kylie sleeps pretty well at night...KNOCK ON WOOD again! That's all that's happening here so far. Have a great day!

Hi, all! Well, this will be shorter than usual but I am sure that's a relief to some of you! ;)

I have stayed OP with my WW plan so far. Still haven't worked out since Kylie is still going through her phase and I am too tired by the time I have the chance. Scott went back to work today and she has refused to give me more than 5 min. to myself so I have been holding her since she woke up. I finally layed her down around 4 p.m. and let her cry just so I could eat lunch!!! I felt so guilty though. And yes, I know I should let her cry it out but like I said I feel guilty since she isn't even 3 weeks old yet. We'll deal with that soon I am sure. Dh is here now and holding her. I am too tired to do anything more than type this and take a shower so I probably won't work out again. But Dh has managed to do it 2 nights in a row so that's good. I weighed again this morning and I think my scale must be broken. It says I am 2 lbs lighter than BEFORE I got preg. I am having trouble believing that one. Guess I need to try on my reg. clothes to see if it is true! Well, that's all here. Have a great day!

Hi, everyone. Well this will be short and sweet since Kylie is sitting w/me and I have no patience for typing w/one hand. Today has been a better day than yesterday. Won't go into details but yesterday evening was rough. We just woke up from a much needed nap today. I am still OP. No exercise yet but oh well. I tried on my reg. clothes last night. Not only do they fit again, they fit better than before I got preg. They were getting tight and now they fit. So I guess the scale is right! Hooray!

Thanks for the support everyone! It means a lot! Have I told you how much you guys rock?! :goodvibes

Well, Kylie had her 2 week check up today (even though she will actually be 3 weeks tomorrow.) She was 9 lbs 6.2 oz at her last check up a couple of weeks ago. She is now 10 lbs 5.5 oz. My little princess: likes to eat! She is doing well and everything looked good so that's always a relief. She goes for her 2 month check up on July 22 but she will actually be closer to 3 months then. That's the soonest they could get her in though.

Today has been a much easier day than the past few were. Kylie is sleeping and I mean actually sleeping in her bassinet! Usually during the day she wants to be held nonstop! But she hasn't been that way today thankfully! So maybe that phase is over?! I hope so! She actually slept through the night last night too which worried me. I could have gotten a great night's sleep but instead I kept checking on her. I finally got her up at 4 a.m. to change her diaper and feed her and she went right back to sleep. Her dr. just laughed at me and said that he understood since I am a 1st time mommy but too bad I missed out on a full night's sleep! Oh, well. I'll know better next time. I am still OP so that's a plus. I haven't decided what day I want to start doing weigh in again. I am thinking Friday just like I did before I got preg. b/c that way if I slip up during the weekend I won't kick myself on Mon. morning and can just get back on track without ever knowing if I gained over the weekend. By Friday I should be able to undo any damage from the previous weekend. Yep, Friday it is then. Well, bye for now! :wave2:

Don't worry, Jen! Kylie is definitely the love of my life...aside from Scott of course! ;) ...so there will be plenty more pics in the future!

Well, Kylie slept ALL day long! She also slept all night last night. I hope she doesn't start getting her days and nights mixed up. We have been doing good about that so far and I don't want to have to worry too much about that. She woke up a little while ago and Scott said he would rock her long enough for me to get on here for about 15 min. I don't hear her so that's a good sign. Maybe he got her back to sleep. I know she slept all day but I hope she sleeps tonight too so she will be wide awake during the day tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Well, I was extremely proud of myself tonight. I was craving a mushroom pizza for some reason but I didn't give in. That would have really killed all this weight loss, that's for sure. I stayed OP despite it and the craving went away. I also managed to walk on the treadmill tonight. It felt great once I got started and I could have done more and walked at a faster pace but I didn't want to overdo it. Plus Scott wanted to walk so I didn't want to stay on it too long. So I only walked 0.5 miles and burned 45 calories walking at a speed of 2.5. I actually felt like that was too slow and I didn't walk long enough but I like I said, I don't want to overdo it. I am just proud to finally get back on the treadmill. I think it is the first time I have used it since I found out I was preg. a lifetime ago. Anyway, today has been a good day. Uh-oh! Kylie is crying so tonight may not be as great! It may be LONG! Wish me luck! Hopefully she will not be up too late or worst yet...all night! :earseek:

05-26-2005, 02:05 PM
Hey, everyone! Well last night went okay. She stayed up from 9:45 until 1:15 this morning but that was okay. I can handle staying up that late. Then she slept until 5:45 a.m. I fed her then and changed her and she went right back to sleep until 11 this morning. Someone told me she is probably going through a growth spurt (supposedly babies go through one around 3 weeks) which explains the sudden need for so much sleep. Then this morning Kylie had a poopy diaper explosion that got all over both her and me. (Note to self: Do not buy any more Huggies...they are the only ones that have leaked for us so far!) So I gave her a bath and then she went back to sleep. She was only awake an hour and a half total after she got up this morning. Now she is sleeping in her bassinet. It gave me time to eat lunch, shower, and wash some clothes which was a lot nicer than the other day when all she would let me do is hold her all day!

Anyway, I am a bit stressed today and could use some prayers. Dh's check was not as good as we were hoping it would be and we had some unexpected expenses so as of right now we are really hurting this payday financially. We don't have enough money to buy groceries next week and Scott doesn't get paid again for 2 weeks! Now it is not the end of the world...if worst comes to worst we can get by on a couple loaves of bread and make grilled cheese sandwiches next week or something (so much for doing well on WWs!) but it is still stressful. Kylie and I were also supposed to make our first solo trip to my mom's house tomorrow but she lives 45 min. away and I don't have any gas money. It is possible Scott has some that he can give me so I am probably making something out of nothing but still. This is not something we always have to deal with but this was not a good payday since Scott was off for 2 weeks and didn't earn commission on top of his salary. He got a really nice raise that went into effect Monday so things will start looking up soon but I am really stressed about this current payday. Scott was mowing the grass for his company and earning a little extra money on the weekends that he saved for hunting season but he quit doing it so he could be here on the weekends with Kylie and me but now it looks like he may have to do it again just so we will have food in the house next week! Well, I know it's not the end of the world but it is still stressful and I could use some prayers, if you don't mind! Thanks!

Oh...still OP as of right now.

Tasha+Scott
05-26-2005, 06:52 PM
Well, things are better since this morning financially. Scott is going to mow tomorrow evening and that will cover groceries next week. We are not going to my mom's tomorrow after all and that is okay. My mom is mad at me over something ridiculous anyway. Plus, I think Kylie has thrush and we are waiting for the dr. to call us to give us a prescription for antibiotics tomorrow. He wasn't in the clinic today. Just wanted to let everyone know that everything is okay afterall and that yes, I overreacted!

Hi, Sunny! Glad to hear from you! Hope things are going better these days! The light at the end of the tunnel is the fact that the teen years don't last forever...thankfully! ;)

Well, I made my first slip up today. My mom and brothers came over and they brought pizza (which I told you I had been craving)! So I did go off program today but oh, well. I will just have to do better tomorrow. Kylie has thrush so I have to start giving her medicine 4 times a day. The fun part is that I have to do 1 milliliter in each cheek. That should be interesting. At least it will clear up the infection. Well, on top of that the air conditioner in my car stopped working today. It is over 90 degrees here too so Kylie was sooo hot by the time we got home from the pharmacist. I felt terrible...esp. when I was trying to cool her off with a wet washcloth and she kept trying to drink the water off of it! I gave her a bottle after that to keep her from getting dehydrated. We just had the air conditioner looked at a week and a half ago so we are just going to have to put her car seat in the truck for the time being since we are too broke to have the air conditioner fixed (AGAIN) and it is too hot to drive her around in that car. Well, have a great weekend everyone!

Just a quick update to let all of you know that I am back OP but my appetite is starting to come back for the first time since Kylie was born so I am definitely going to have to add some food to this diet or something so I won't feel like I am starving. Oh, and God definitely answers prayers...my cousin sent us some money that we got in the mail yesterday! So we aren't hurting any more this payday! God is great isn't he?! :goodvibes

As far as Kylie and the medicine situation, it has gone pretty smoothly. She happens to love the medicine! The hardest part we are dealing with is that she doesn't want me to put it in her cheeks like I am supposed to. She grabs hold of the medicine dropper with her mouth and sucks it dry before I can even get it inside her cheek...lol! I figure that's okay. At least she is taking it! Well, have a great holiday everyone!

Call where you bought the medicine but usually medicine for thrush should be applied with a long q tip and applied to the inside of each cheek/side of the mouth to properly clear it up. Watch her diaper area as well because thrush loves to go there as well. Good luck.

Ok I just reread your post so you know it should be applied to the cheeks so bag calling the pharmacist. Actually Tasha it is not ok to just let her suck it down, it really needs to be applied properly for it to work and clear up the thrush. Good luck, you'll do great.

Okay, I guess I should have clarified that I do put it inside her cheeks! She actually gets most of it inside her cheeks like it is supposed to. She just tries to suck on it after she realizes what it is. By that time most of the medicine is already gone already anyway. I don't just let her suck on it or anything. I am very careful of trying to apply it exactly as I was told. I just don't think it will hurt her if she sucks a little of it since most of it goes in her cheeks. So don't worry. I am not doing it completely wrong. It is starting to clear up too so most of it must be doing what it is supposed to. I just don't want anyone thinking that I am not doing what I am supposed to. :)

Well, Kylie is definitely going through a growth spurt. It seemed like all she wanted to do is eat yesterday! And then today she has been sleeping all day. She has already outgrown several of her little outfits. Sad in a way for me. Maybe someday we'll have another little girl that can wear them. If not, then I guess we will just sell them someday. Anyway, I am still OP, but have decided that I can't remember quite enough about WWs to officially do it like I had planned. So I am just trying to eat healthier. It's like I am taking a little of everything I have ever learned about nutrition and diet and trying to combine it. It must be working since I am now 5 lbs lighter than before I got preg. That means I have 45 lbs till goal. Wish me luck! Hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day!

Hi, everyone! Well, sorry I haven't posted the last couple of weeks but it has been extremely busy around here. We are still receiving baby gifts left and right which is sort of surprising since Kylie is almost 6 weeks old, but we are grateful either way. So I have been making out thank you cards left and right as well. We have been to the dr. 2 times since Friday. Basically a couple weeks ago we were told Kylie had thrush. Well, we thought it was starting to clear up but the next day I noticed it was just as bad as before so we ended up needing more antibiotics and treating it for 2 weeks with no luck. So I made another appt. with the dr. on Friday and he said that Kylie doesn't even have thrush! It is exactly the same as when he saw her before though so I decided to go to a different clinic this morning and get a 2nd opinion just to make sure. Well, she doesn't have thrush...so we have been treating it for 2 weeks for absolutely no reason! Anyway, I was able to switch clinics and doctors and am now happy to say we have a pediatrician that I actually like. Kylie goes for her 2 month check up in 3 weeks and will receive her first set of shots. I dread watching that but I know it is for the best and she won't remember it when she's older anyway. Anyhow, other things that have happened around here is that Kylie has started rolling over as of last week! She has also started "talking" baby talk a lot! It is amazing how much she has changed already since the day she was born and things are getting easier than they were. Only thing is we still have lots of visitors and we have been going all over northeast Mississippi visiting all of the relatives that are spread out around here which is part of the reason I have been busy. That and I am usually holding Kylie during the day which makes typing harder. She is a really good night sleeper. She wakes up once or twice to eat and usually goes back to sleep afterward. A lot of nights she has gone to sleep and slept 4-6 hours at a time, so that's something that we're really lucky about. She fights naps during the day though even when you can tell she is really sleepy. It takes a long time for her to finally take a nap during the day but that's better than being up all night so I can't complain. She currently weighs 11 lbs 7 oz so she has gained exactly 2 lbs since birth. I am not sure how long she is now but she is really getting long since she is outgrowing all of her pants and pajamas. Weight wise everything still fits but is getting too short. She is in a size 2 diaper now though! They are a little big but the size 1 is too small so that's what we have to put her in.

As far as how I am doing...well I am not doing WWs anymore but I am trying to eat healthier. I am eating more veggies and have really not had any junk since Kylie was born. I have maintained my weight loss and am still 5 lbs lighter than before I got preg. but have not lost any more. I will probably lose more once I can start exercising more. Right now it's hard to do with Kylie. Scott and I want to start walking around the neighborhood with her in her stroller but it has been raining a lot so that's out temporarily. Anyway, I go for my 6 week checkup on Thurs. I was told I couldn't take any tub baths until after my appt. but I was bad and took a bath the other day. My back was hurting and it made it feel better. I made sure my incision didn't get too wet though and don't think it will be a problem since it has been over 5 weeks. I held out for 5 weeks but man, I hate not being able to take anything except showers. When I was preg. I sometimes took 3 baths a day! I am having major withdrawal symptoms...lol!

I have some really good news to report though. Scott's grandmother bought me a car yesterday. I pick it up Wed. It is a used car but it looks great and runs great. The guy that sold it to us is someone she has known since the day he was born and she said he only sales quality cars so hopefully it will be a good car. It is a '99 Bonneville. It has everything I want: radio/cd player, sunroof, power windows and locks, and childproof locks in the back and the a/c works! This is in no way a free gift or anything. We are going to pay her a little bit every month but no set amount. She is just helping us out. She has been very good to us and has helped us several times over the years. We should be out of debt soon b/c our 2 loans are almost paid. I have to start paying on my school loans next month though. There's always something, but it's only $50 a month which we can afford so things will be much better for us soon. But anyway, yay, I am FINALLY going to have a decent vehicle that will be safe for Kylie to ride in and Scott can have his truck back. We both win!

Anyway, I have some pictures of Kylie when she turned a month old last week but I haven't scanned them on the computer yet. When I get a chance I will post them. I plan to have her picture made professionally probably next month sometime too. And sorry I haven't gotten to journals in a while but it is harder lately. Just know that I am thinking of all of you and hope you are all doing great. I will get to them when I have some time...who knows how long that will be though! ;) Anyway, have a great night everyone!

Hi Tasha!

You sound like one busy mom! :teeth: I can't believe that Kylie is almost 6 weeks old already! Time goes by so fast!!

Just wanted to stop by and see how you are doing and to wish Scott a Happy First Father's Day! :goodvibes

Just maintaining is really good at this stage. You have to really go with the flow.

Hey, all! Well, not much new to report other than I had my 6 week checkup on Thurs. and everything was fine. I also had lost another couple pounds! YAY! We are done with doctors appt. until 2 weeks from tomorrow when Kylie goes for her 2 month checkup and gets her first set of shots. Can you believe she will already be 2 months in only 2 weeks?!

I got my new car and love it!!! We also have decided to go to WDW for Kylie's 1st b-day and visit my grandmother while we are there. Unfortunately Scott's mom was supposed to give us some money (long story but basically she has some money of Scott's and promised to give it to him to help pay off our loans) and has since backed out. She's really good at doing that though since she doesn't care for me! SO now we aren't sure if we will be able to save enough to go to WDW or not. Guess we'll see. We aren't giving up yet. We may just take a shorter trip if we have to. Hopefully it will all work out since it is still about 10 months away!

Tomorrow my mom, Kylie, and myself are going to Elvis Presley's birthplace. I have lived about 15 min. away from where he was born for over 10 years now and still haven't been. I couldn't care less about Elvis honestly and neither could my mom but we figured it would be good if we could tell people from other states that we have at least been there once. I have seen the outside...it is just a little shack, nothing special, but oh, well. After we leave there we are going to the buffalo park we have here so Kylie can see the buffalo, tigers, monkeys, etc. Should be fun! Have a great day everyone!

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by my journal even though I have been MIA the past few weeks! I'll try to update as briefly as I can.

July 3~ Scott, Kylie, and I went to my dad's new house an hour and a half away. It was dad's b-day. My sisters, bothers, and stepmom's parents also came. Dad has a beautiful lake that Scott and my brother (22) spent hours fishing on. It was a nice day! Dad was actually easy to get along with. I caught him feeding Kylie icecream off a spoon and she actually seemed to enjoy it! But we aren't feeding her anything but formula until she is 4 months so that was a one time thing! ;)

July 5~ Kylie turned 2 months old and had her checkup and shots. She is now 23.5 inches long (she was 20" at birth) and 12 lbs 11 oz (she was 9 lbs 7 oz at birth) so she is really growing! She smiles constantly now and I am able to set her down more during the day but not for very long yet. She sleeps through the night most nights now. :cheer2: And we have discovered she loves watching Sesame Street (I did too when I was a baby.)

July 9~ Had Kylie's first professional pics made. They will be ready on the 25th. I will post them then. She was so good and smiled during the first shot which we accidentally had the photographer erase! I am still kicking myself for that but the other pics are cute so it's okay. We spent the rest of the day at Nana's (my mom's).

Other updates:

I have not lost any more weight but I haven't gained either which I consider an accomplishment! I joined the July exercise challenge Friday but was gone all weekend so I didn't do any exercising. I hope to get some time in with the treadmill later!

My brother (almost 16) is deaf and was recently approved for a cochlear implant which will give him almost normal hearing if all goes well. He goes to Memphis for his surgery on the 21st. Dh, dd, and I will be staying at my mom's house from the 20th-22nd to housesit and take care of their animals while they are in Memphis. They live an hour away so it'll be like a mini vacation for us.

I was going to take some online classes this fall but was turned down for financial aid so that's put on hold for awhile longer. :guilty:

Other than all of that, we are looking forward to Kylie's 1st Christmas and then her 1st trip to WDW where she will celebrate her 1st b-day in May! We are busy these days but life is good! :goodvibes

Have a great day and I'll update again when I can! :wave2:

Just wanted to post that I finally managed to get some exercise in today. Dh is watching Kylie right now and I managed to walk 30 min. on the treadmill. I went 1.5 miles and burned 126 calories! I feel great! I hope I can keep this up. The July challenge is really motivating me so far! Well, gotta go shower and relieve Dh!

I walked for another 30 min. on the treadmill today! And Kylie even let me put her in her bouncer and watched a Winnie the Pooh DVD long enough for me to get a little cleaning done. All in all today was a successful day! :sunny:

ETA: I walked 1.5 miles and burned 127 calories. Thought I would keep up with this so I can calculate it all at the end of the month.

Hey, everyone! Well, I decided to join the walking to Disney challenge. I have to walk 722.32 miles. Dh has decided to do it with me. So far I have walked 5.01 miles this week (and all together in the challenge) and dh has walked 3.0 miles. Dh has also decided to join me in the July Exercise Challenge and wants to work out for 540 min. this month. So far he has done 60/540. I am up to 100/500. I do believe I am going to make my goal!!! Anyway, I walked on the treadmill tonight for 40 min. and walked 2.01 miles and burned 168 calories! I feel great! Have a great night!

Hi Tasha!

That is great that Scott is joining you in exercising and walking to Disney! I am doing the walking to Disney challenge too, but for me, it's more of an exercising to Disney challenge. Every hour I exercise is equal to 4 miles of walking. So far, I am headed in to North Carolina (from Northeast Ohio) and I have completed 37% of my journey! It's fun! :cool1:

I hope you have a wonderful day today! :flower: Take care!

Hi, Tracy! I am walking to Disney right now but if I ever do any other type of exercise (such as aerobics) then I will count that too. :)

Well, today Kylie and I did a lot of running around. We went grocery shopping and went to a few other places. I feel like that in itself was a workout...especially since we live in the hot and humid south! But anyway, it took a lot out of me so I didn't do as much walking on the treadmill tonight as I had planned. But I still managed to walk 20 min. at least! And I burned 84 calories and walked a mile. Scott walked 1.51 miles and burned 127 calories walking for 30 min. That brings him to 90/540 min. of exercise for July and I am at 120/500. Walking to Disney: I am now at 6.01/722.32 and Scott is at 4.51/722.32. I think we are both off to a good start! Wish us luck and motivation that we will keep at it!

Well, I didn't walk on the treadmill today but dh and I did a lot of walking this evening. We walked around the mall, etc. I am counting 60 min. of it as my exercise even though I am sure we probably did more than that. Dh also spent an hour and a half mowing today so he is now at 240/540 on his exercise challenge. I am at 180/500. Walking to Disney--Dh is at 7.51/722.32 and so am I.

Tracy~ Still haven't heard about dh's bonus. We're hoping to hear something on Mon. We have heard that if he gets one it probably won't be as much as they had originally said. Hopefully he'll get something though!

Okay, everyone, will you please pray for an old friend of mine? I haven't talked to her or seen her in about 3 years but her mom works with my mom so I get updates occasionally. Her Dh has been in Iraq for almost a year and was due to come home next month. He was killed 2 days ago! It breaks my heart to even think about the pain she must be going through! I was told that she is not doing well at all which I can completely understand! Her mom isn't doing well either nor is his family! Please pray for them if you don't mind! Also, please pray for several of my other friends whose Dh's are in Iraq still! Thanks, everyone and enjoy the remainder of your weekend!

Kylie is BEAUTIFUL!!! I just realized what her name is. My DNiece who is expecting in Oct is planning to name her daughter Kylie - but is thinking of spelling it Kiley. I like your way better.

Glad the exercise is going well. Hang in there. I'll be praying for your friend.

Hi, lillygator! I love, love, love being a mom so far! Kylie is such a good, easy baby and we are lucky!

Hi, goldcupmom! I had considered spelling Kylie's name either Kylee or Kyleigh but figured that Kyleigh would get spelled wrong all of the time and decided we liked Kylie better. I now know of 2 other Kylies but they both spell it Kylee so I am glad that we went with what we did. I never thought of Kiley but I worry that will get misspelled a lot too but hopefully not!

Well, I totally kicked butt with the exercise today! I was determined to make it to the halfway point of the July exercise challenge and I met that goal by walking on the treadmill for 70 min.! I walked 3.53 miles and burned 296 calories! I feel great! I am now at 250/500 for the July challenge.

Scott did another hour of mowing/weedeating, plus 50 min. on the treadmill. He is now at 350/540 for the exercise challenge and we are both at (I am guessing a little on this for dh but I am sure it's close!) 11.04/722.32 miles on the walking to Disney Challenge! I think we have done really well for the first week! I am hoping that this will continue from now on! I want to be a good role model for Kylie and I seriously need to get back in shape in order to do that! Plus, it never hurts to be slimmer when you go to WDW, right?! We are going for Kylie's 1st b-day so I have quite a bit of time to lose some weight before then!

This has been a sad week in my area. First my friend's dh was killed in Iraq (thanks for the prayers!) and dh found out this afternoon that our neighbors' baby died this weekend. We don't really know these neighbors well and didn't know they had a baby! Apparently their baby was only a few days younger than Kylie. We were told that the mom was cosleeping w/the baby and accidentally smothered it while she was sleeping! :guilty: I don't know her and don't even know if her baby was a boy or a girl but I am sure she could use the prayers just the same! I look at Kylie and can't even imagine what that family is going through! I get choked up just thinking about it! I am glad that we decided not to cosleep w/Kylie b/c that has got to be a nightmare to go through! Hopefully this will be the last bad news I will have to report for a very long time!

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by my journal, Chris! And thanks for your condolences (sp.?) And yes, Kylie has tons of hair and it just keeps getting longer and thicker, lol!

Well, tonight started off rocky but I am proud to say I remedied the situation successfully! Scott came home with pizza totally unaware that I was trying to do the 100 days cheat-free challenge! :earseek: He said he thought I might like a break and I thought it was so sweet so I didn't have the heart to tell him that I couldn't eat it. So I ate it and told him that I would be starting the cheat-free challenge tomorrow and tonight's the last night I can have anything like that. I didn't want to start over on the challenge though so I upped my speed on the treadmill and worked HARD! I walked for 30 min. and was sweating more than when I walked 70 min. last night. I walked 1.67 miles and it said I burned off 129 calories. I don't think the calories are accurate though since that is only 2 calories more than I burned off when I was going only half the speed I did tonight but that doesn't matter since the miles are accurate. So I am claiming today as a cheat-free day since I worked my tail off to burn that pizza off and I didn't eat tons of it anyway. Scott took today as a rest day.

On a side note, Scott's sister told us right before Kylie was born that they were going to be trying to have another baby soon after Kylie was born. They already have a 4 yr. old son named Channing. Anyway, she called tonight to tell us she is pregnant. She hasn't been to the dr. yet but is estimating her due date to be either late March or early April. I don't know how I feel about this right now. His sister has treated me terribly ever since the beginning of our marriage. On the one hand, I love babies so this is exciting news! On the other hand, her baby will be about 10-11 months younger than Kylie and will be in the same grade as her. I know his sister is talking about our kids playing together a lot as they get older which would be fine if his sister and I got along better. I feel this means a lot more interaction with his sister which might be stressful, esp. since she lives right across the street. Of course it may not be so bad and there is still probably a couple years before we need to even think about that. Plus we aren't sending Kylie to the same school she is going to send her kids to. Okay, I guess I am a little excited despite our differences! ;)

Have a great night everyone! :wave2:

Tasha -- I am so impressed with how well you are doing with your exercise and the cheat-free challenge. Keep up the great work!

Everytime I see Kylie's picture, she makes me smile - what a cutie! I remember when mine were that little -- DD is turning 17 soon and DS just turned 12. No matter how much of a cliche it is, there is no bigger truth than to say "time flies". I remember my kids at Kylie's age like it was yesterday.

BTW -- it sounds like your DSIL's child will end up a year behind Kylie. She will probably start school in August 2010 (when she is 5) and your SIL's child will probably start in August of 2011 when he or she is 5, so hopefully, even if they ended up in the same school, they'd be in different grades. And who knows, maybe SIL will mellow with the second child ;)

Have a great day! :grouphug:

Wow, a lot of people have visited my journal since I was last on here! Thanks for everyone's support.

lillygator~ I agree that babies are great so I am getting a little more excited as I am getting used to the idea!

Sunny~ You're such a sweet person and you've always been a great friend to me too! :grouphug:

Julie~ You're right! I am hoping things will improve some before she has her baby.

Cam~ Yes, you're right. They will be a grade apart. I don't know why I was thinking they'd be in the same grade! There's my duh! moment for the week!

Chris~ Yeah, my dh is a sweetheart! I got lucky w/him! ;)

Last night was interesting w/Kylie. Normally she is in bed by 10 p.m. and sleeps till atleast 5 a.m. Well, last night she didn't fall asleep till 1 a.m.! BUT she slept till 11:15 today! So I got plenty of sleep either way!

Dh told me that his sister is so determined to have a girl this time that she has already told Channing (her 4 year old) that he's going to have a sister! :earseek: Am I the only one that thinks that wasn't a good idea?! She'll probably end up having another boy just b/c she said that!

Dh, dd, and I are going to my mom's house tomorrow evening through Friday morning to housesit and take care of her animals. Mom, stepdad, db (22) are taking my youngest db (16) to Memphis to have his cochlear implant done. I am really excited at the prospect of my brother finally being able to hear if all goes well, even though it will take time and therapy! :Pinkbounc

I am going to try to walk for atleast an hour tonight and I'll post again after I do.

Tasha+Scott
07-19-2005, 10:02 PM
Hey, everyone! Well, I wasn't able to walk for an hour b/c I kept getting interrupted. I did get to walk (and even run some!) for 45 min. though. I went 2.4 miles and burned 199 calories. Scott walked for 25 min. and went 1.45 miles so he is now up to 12.49/722.32 on the walking challenge and I up to 15.11/722.32. For the July exercise challenge he is at 375/540 and I am at 325/500. I do believe I may make it past my goal this month!!!

On a sadder note, my mom called a while ago to tell me that my friend's Dh's funeral is this Saturday which would have been their 3rd year anniversary! :guilty: How sad is that?!

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's husband and your neighbor's baby. :( That is so very, very heartbreaking to hear about. We will definitely be keeping both families in our thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

Hi, Tracy! No, we still don't know about dh's bonus yet either! I am hoping we'll hear something today though! Hopefully you and your dh will hear something soon as well!

I do believe Miss Kylie has let all of the compliments about how pretty she is go to her head! I let her look at herself in the mirror this morning and she must have liked what she saw! She couldn't stop smiling at her reflection!

Well, my brothers, mom, and stepdad are heading to Memphis in about 2 hours. I hope my brother's surgery goes well. They go in for pre-op today and he has the surgery tomorrow. Kylie and I have to run a few errands before Scott gets home and then we will be going to my mom's house. I will still have Internet access there though. I will try to get to journals either tonight or tomorrow! Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Well, I am feeling really guilty right now. Last night Dh was late getting off work and my mom lives an hour away so it was late when we finally got here. I was doing well on my eating though. I had a salad but I felt like I was starving. So, I ended up eating junk food! I also was way too tired to even attempt to do any exercise! So I did terrible and feel terrible right now! On top of that we don't have enough money to pay our car insurance this payday (just found that out this morning) and I am feeling really stressed now! I am sure dh will come up with a way (he always does!) but I will stress until I know he has for sure! I could use any encouragement you want to give me!

The good news from yesterday is that Kylie didn't take a nap all day so she fell asleep in her bouncer while Scott and I were eating dinner. All I had to do was get her out of it after dinner and put her to bed. It's the first night I actually haven't had to put her to sleep by rocking her, etc. That was nice! Well, that's all for now ladies! I will be at my mom's until tomorrow afternoon!

Hi Tasha!

I am praying that your brother's surgery goes well. What a blessing that after the surgery, he may be able to hear! ::yes:: Please keep us updated on how he is doing.

I am also praying that Scott will get his bonus today. ::yes:: My DH is still waiting too. The waiting part of all of this is so hard. It reminds me of the verse in Isaiah 40..."But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint." I'm going to try and hold onto that promise today as we both wait for a blessing for both of our husbands. ::yes::

Thanks, Tracy! I am trying to be patient too but it is easier said than done!

I could really get used to having cable for my Internet like my mom does. It is sooo much faster than my pitiful dial-up connection at home!

I have a bit of a sticky dilemma I am facing here. My stepdad's cousin let his daughter move into their old house which is right next door to my mom. Well, she is my age but lives very irresponsibly. She has a son that was a result of a teen preg. that she doesn't take very good care of. She also does drugs and parties all night long. Since they have lived next door they have gone through owning quite a few dogs. All of the dogs either starve to death or get run over by cars. Now I am a HUGE animal lover so I can't stand to hear about it but witnessing it is much worse. They got a cute little puppy a couple of months ago. It is the sweetest thing but every time I see it it is skinnier than the last time! My mom told me that she kind of wishes that we would take it home with us so it won't die. I told her I would feel guilty STEALING someone else's dog. She said she understood but that it is literally starving to death and is going to die. She said she would take it if she didn't live next door and they wouldn't be able to find out she had it. Well, they are NEVER home and when they are they don't take care of it. I let my mom's dogs outside a while ago and the puppy came over and I about fainted. It is so skinny now it is nothing but bones! I did the only humane thing I knew to do and fed it! But now I am seriously considering taking the dog home with me! I don't know what would be the worse sin in this case: stealing someone's dog or letting it die knowing I could save it! Scott said that it's my call but he wants to save it. He figures that it will be weeks before the owners even notice it's missing and they will probably just assume it got hit by a car. We live an hour away so they wouldn't know we have it and it would grant me some peace of mind. Plus, even though we go through periodic rough pay periods we do get along pretty well most of the time and could easily care for it. If I wasn't a Christian I wouldn't even be wondering what to do. I would take it home. I guess I am wondering if God would forgive me for stealing if I was doing it for what I consider to be the right reasons. What do you think?

Okay, sorry for the long post but that is weighing heavily on me ever since I saw that the dog is literally starved!

Okay, I have decided my life is a soap opera! An hour ago I got a call from my stepdad's sister, looking for my stepdad. Apparently their mom isn't doing well and she was hoping to get my stepdad to come to the nursing home asap. Their mom is in her 90s and they have been expecting her to pass away soon for a year now but she hasn't yet. She has her good days and her bad but the way his sister made it sound she is on her deathbed right now. Hopefully I'm wrong but that's the way it sounded. I keep waiting for my mom to call and make sure everything is okay here but so far she hasn't and I don't know how to reach her since she didn't leave a number or anything. I hope his mom will hold on till he atleast gets to see her since they are very close and he usually visits her almost every evening. Her passing really won't come to a huge shock to anybody but it will be tragic if she passes during the one day my stepdad can't get to the nursing home to see her. Pray that doesn't happen please!

Okay, ladies, wish me luck! My weigh in is tomorrow. I have not done too well the last 2 nights since I have been at my mom's. She doesn't have anything healthy in her house right now and we are too broke to go get something if we don't have to. The good news is we did manage to come up w/the money for the car insurance but have nothing extra this payday and have very little for groceries but we do have enough to make do and next payday will be better so that's okay. I am going home tomorrow afternoon so tomorrow should be a pretty good day for me to get back on track again with the food and the exercise. I am hoping I will have lost something despite the past 2 days but I am not holding my breath!

My mom called and my brother's surgery went well. He has to get his bandages checked and removed in the morning. And it will be atleast 4 weeks of letting the scar heal before they can do the "mapping" and before he will be able to start using the implant to hear. But so far everything is going according to plan. :goodvibes

My mom also has a nice, big garden tub in her bathroom. We already knew Kylie likes baths but she has never been in anything other than her baby bath. Well, Scott and I took a bath in my mom's garden tub with Kylie and she LOVED it! She kept smiling, cooing, giggling, and splashing. We stayed in it for about 45 min. with her and I don't think she was ready to get out even then. She is definitely like me with the water. I was a water baby too and still am!

Good morning, Tasha! Wow! You have so much to deal with right now. First of all, I don't know that any of us is in a position to judge which is the sin, but I would have to take the dog home, even if it was for the purpose of getting it healthy and finding a new home for it. BTW, I don't even know Scott and I adore him for wanting to save the dog. He's a keeper. :)
Second, I hope everything is okay with your stepfather's mother. Did you get to talk to him when your mom called?
I am so glad that things seemed to go well for your brother. How exciting to think in 4 weeks his whole world will be different!
I hope your weigh in goes well this morning. You had 5 good days in the past week, right? Even if the weigh in doesn't go great, you have established healthy habits and know how to implement them going forward. Good luck! :)
Thinking of Kylie's first "swim" in the garden tub makes me smile. I bet she was adorable! Geez, I miss those days. Hey, maybe that is why my daughter takes 20 minute showers now! Maybe we should not have cultivated her love for water when she was a baby! ;)

Thanks Tracy and Cam!

We didn't get home until nearly 6 p.m. First things first...my weigh in. I forgot to weigh this morning since we did a lot of visiting w/my family and running errands. I weighed this evening and I haven't lost but I haven't gained either. Of course I normally weigh early so it may not be what it would've been had I weighed earlier. I will weigh again next Fri. and hope for better results.

As for the dog situation...well, I am sure God will forgive me (considering the circumstances) and I brought her home with me. She is "getting to know" my other 2 dogs and sleeping with them right now. She is a very well-behaved, sweet puppy. We have decided to name her Penny b/c she is an auburn colored Dachsund and it made me think of the coppery color of pennies. My other 2 dogs are a miniature pinscher named Sassy and a beagle named Trixie. They are all very sweet and so far all 3 dogs are getting along great and my cats aren't having any problems either. She fits in rather nicely with our family so far and her and Kylie seem to like eachother too. I know this dog is going to be much happier, much better off this way.

I was at my mom's house when they got home and witnessed part of the situation w/my stepdad's mom. Apparently my stepdad visits his mom every single night except these past few nights when he was in Memphis b/c of db's surgery. Well, the night he left some new nurse's aid decided to switch his mom's medicine b/c she freaked out when his mom started yelling "Mommy, help me!" When they don't give her her medicine on time she doesn't know who she is or where she is or anything. The medicine keeps her mind at least a little normal. So the nurse's aid didn't know what was going on and did something to her medicine that made his mom start urinating on herself and she went pretty much into a catatonic state which freaked stepdad's sister out. Well, when he got home he called to get it straightened out (I witnessed the conversations he had) and the one woman was very friendly and said she would take care of it. Ten min. later the phone rang and another woman asked my stepdad what gave him the right to demand they fix her medicine?! Oh, that was not very smart. :rolleyes1 So, anyway, I got to witness my stepdad blow up and screaming at this witch of a woman (they have had other problems with this same woman in the past) for several min. Finally, she told him she couldn't care less whether his mom stays there or not. He had enough and asked for the nursing home's owner's phone number. She refused to give it to him and hung up. He called a lawyer and they are meeting Mon. or Tues. and they promised to help get the phone number for him and get everything taken care of. He was headed to the nursing home ready to cause a scene when Kylie and I left so I don't know what happened with that. I am sure my mom will call me tomorrow and let me know what's going on. But basically his mom was fine until they messed with her medicine and will probably be fine if they straighten it out. I'll let you know what happens.

As far as our financial burden...God is so good! I received a check in the mail from a company that I take surveys with. That helped a lot even though it wasn't much so we're okay now!

Kylie and I took another bath together at our house tonight. She is so much fun to give baths to. LOVES the water! She is almost too long for her baby bath now and probably won't fit in it anymore in a couple of weeks so I think I am going to start giving her baths this way from now on...atleast until she can sit up by herself. It was easier and it was relaxing for both of us. Well, I need to go to bed but thought I would give you an update. We are going to Dh's grandmother's tomorrow so I'll try to post more and get to journals tomorrow night!

Hi, everyone! Well, it is almost midnight so I won't be on here long. Just wanted to let everyone know that today went very well for me. We went to Dh's grandmother's for a few hours this afternoon, then went grocery shopping. Then, I cleaned Kylie's room and packed up the clothes that are too small for her now. Tonight is the first night that she is sleeping in her own room. She usually sleeps in the bassinet beside my bed but she turns too much in her sleep and the bassinet isn't big enough for all of the tossing and turning she does. So far it is going well with her in her crib.

It has been 100 degrees here today (not counting the humidity!) so it has been too hot to work out until 11 p.m. and even then it was still 85 degrees. It is supposed to get up to 105 tomorrow!!! Anyway, I am so proud of how well I did today. I managed to walk for 30 min. on the treadmill tonight and walked 1.68 miles and burned off 133 calories. I am really proud that I was able to get back on track after being gone for 3 days and not working out those days. In the past, if I missed a day or 2 it would really mess me up which is why I am proud that it didn't this time.

The new puppy is very smart and is easy to housebreak so far...no accidents at all yet! I am really glad b/c I was dreading the stress of puppy "accidents" and it looks like it isn't going to be that bad so far!

Scott weedeated at his work this morning (yes, in 100 degree weather! :faint: ) so he added 60 min. to his July challenge min. bringing him up to 435/540 and his walking to Disney challenge he is at 13.49/722.32. You can look in my siggie to see what I am at. But I do believe I will not only make my goal but surpass it!!! I think Dh will too!!! I am hoping for great results during weigh in this Friday. Wish me luck! It is late but I will try my best to get to journals tomorrow. I have a lot of cleaning to do but surely I can find some time...hopefully!

P.S. Tracy, we STILL haven't heard anything about dh's bonus! :sad2: How about you?

Hi!! With all that heat it sounds like you are in Florida!! Great for you getting back on track...:) Have a great week!

lillygator~ I used to live in Florida...that's where my family is from. It is just as hot here as in Florida but it seems more humid here! I actually prefer the Florida heat to this believe it or not! It was 110 with the heat index yesterday! It is supposed to be somewhere in that range today too!

Well, yesterday wasn't as good with the exercise for me. Our electricity kept going out for some bizaare reason. With the temp. being 110 degrees and the electricity being out (which meant NO a/c!) we decided to go to my mom's so Kylie wouldn't get too hot. By the time we got home it was late. So I didn't get to exercise and I didn't get any cleaning done either! I will try to do some of both today.

Kylie's pictures that I had made earlier this month should be ready today. Right now Kylie is sleeping in her crib. Although it sounds like she is starting to wake up. Whenever she gets up we will go get her pictures.

The puppy had a couple of minor accidents in the house yesterday, nothing major. Dh isn't used to housebreaking another dog since our other 2 are 2 and 3 years old now. I told him that the puppy is going to have a few accidents but at least they aren't too bad and that he better get used to it since Kylie will have to be pottytrained eventually too! :rolleyes1 ;)

Anyway, I have a lot to do today (weather and electricity permitting!) so I probably won't get to journals today, but I will try to get to them tomorrow! Have a great day everyone!

Hey Tasha! :wave2:

I hope that the electricty stays on for you today! I can not imagine 100+ degree heat w/out an air conditioner! :scared: Whew!

On Saturday, DH's boss told him that as soon as the work is completely done, he will receive a bonus. No word on how much. The thing is.... it's really not my DH's fault that the job isn't completely finished. It's a matter of waiting on others at this point. So, we are continuing to keep praying and believing that God will bless us with this. Any news on Scott's bonus yet?

I hope you have a wonderful day today! :sunny: Will you be posting Kylie's new pictures? princess:

Thanks, eeyore! Yes, she does have a very expressive face! Some of the looks she gives us just crack us up! As for me, I woke up with a sore throat but was okay other than that. The temp. outside has been 111 w/the heat index and the electricity flickered off for a few min. again today! On top of that by this evening I felt really lousy. I think maybe I am getting a sinus infection due to this sudden heat wave. I felt too miserable to get any exercise in which is disappointing b/c if I don't feel better soon I won't make my July exercise goal! I am not beating myself up over it though b/c I know it's more important that I get to feeling better so I can take care of Kylie. I will get to journals tomorrow if I feel better. lillygator~ I had these pictures of Kylie taken at 2 months and don't plan to have more made until she is around 6 months b/c that will be in Nov. and close enough to Christmas. I want to add her pic to my Christmas cards this year.

Well, I woke up the same way I did yesterday w/ a sore throat. Other than that I feel okay and I took some Dayquil. I am worried today will go like yesterday and I will feel terrible by this evening. I always feel worse in the evenings when I am sick for some reason. Hopefully I won't feel too bad and can get some exercise in. I'll update later if I do.

I think the heatwave is over for now. It's back to the lower to mid 90s here, which is certainly better than the 105 degrees (111 w/the heat index) we had the past few days. It is supposed to rain for the next few days and cool things off some. So far no sign of rain yet though. Our weatherman only gets the rain part right about 40% of the time though.

Still no word about dh's bonus. His boss keeps saying he'll find out but I think he mainly blows dh off. Guess we'll find out eventually!

such control you have! (WITH PICS I MEAN) LOL...when my kids were babies i had their pics taken 1 time per/month for the first 12 mo in a studio...then the second year 1 time per/3 months....til age of 2, then 2 times a year, and now I still get their school pic each year, plus have pics made at least once a year....i'm a PSYCHO when it comes to pics of my kids! lol...my husband swears I just loved to spend money, not so, i'm actually quite frugal, just not where pics are concerned! lol

Hi Tasha,

I hope you get to feeling better!!!!

I agree with Jen, you have such control with the pics! I don't have children, but I have 8 nieces and nephews, I only get to see 1 though. Anyways I took tons of pictures of him!! And my sister gets his picture taken like every month! But she is crazy too!!!

Hope you are having a great day other than the soar throat!

Tasha+Scott
07-27-2005, 06:36 PM
Actually I wouldn't call it having control so much as not having enough money to have her picture taken more often, lol! I do take tons of pictures with my own camera though! I love taking pictures and she is just the perfect subject, don't you think? ;)

Well, we finally heard something about dh's bonus. He is getting one but the boss said that the main office is trying to rip them off on how much and he is fighting to get more. So it will be 2 weeks probably before we know exactly how much it will be. We do know what the very least he will get is now though and it's not much but it's better than nothing! I am hoping his boss will win this one and get them more money!

Okay, the weatherman was way off today! It was over 100 degrees again and it only rained for a few min. about an hour ago! And it has gone as I predicted. I am not feeling well again and I really think I could use a few more hours of sleep. I am going to try to workout later if I think I can. I am not going to push myself if I don't feel well but I am hoping I will feel well enough to walk for a little while. I'll let you know if I do or not!

Well, although I still don't feel great, I did feel well enough to get some time in with the treadmill! I feel better knowing I did that despite this sinus cold. I managed to walk for 46 min. and 2.50 miles and burned 205 calories. My total July min. is now at 401/500. I think I will make goal if I can just make myself walk these next few days! Scott walked for 30 min. and 1.53 miles. He is now at 465/540 for his exercise challenge and 15.02/722.32 for the walking to Disney challenge.

I am calling my clinic tomorrow b/c I still have not started my period since I had Kylie and she will be 3 months old a week from Friday and I am not breastfeeding so I think I should have started it by now. Hi Tasha....my doc put me on BC soon after I delivered as he said - you never know when it will come whether you are bf'ing or not...were you on BC before?

Tasha+Scott
07-28-2005, 11:57 AM
Yes, I was on bc pills for several years and didn't stop taking them until dh and I started trying to have Kylie.

But here's my update on that:

Okay, now I am just annoyed! I called my clinic this morning and explained what was going on and asked if I could start my pills to help get my periods started back up. Well, apparently my NP "accidentally" gave me the wrong info. and should have had me start them after my 6 week checkup 6 weeks ago! I asked if I could go ahead and start them now and was told no, since dh and I have resumed having sex since then. They want me to come in this afternoon and take a preg. test. If it turns up neg. (which I am certain it will) then they want me to come back in a month and take another preg. test just in case I was preg. this time but not far enough along for the test to work. If that one also comes up neg. then they are going to start me on progesterone to help my periods start back up. Only after my periods start back up may I go back on the pill! I wish my NP had told me the correct info. from the start! It would have saved me this hassle! Anyway, like I said I know I'm not preg., but it never hurts to have some PD just in case! ;) I'll let you know what happens after my appt.

Well, back from the clinic and the test was neg. I was 99.99% sure I wasn't preg. but I have to go back on Aug. 29 for one more test before they will start the progesterone. Of course if I get my period before then I can just start the bc pills and not have to go through any extra steps. I am hoping that I will start before then! Wish me luck!

It is only 84 degrees outside today but it feels hotter b/c of the humidity. But atleast it's not 111!

Tasha+Scott
07-28-2005, 10:48 PM
Well, I managed to walk again tonight! I walked for 34 min. to bring my min. up to an even 435/500 for the July challenge. That means I only have 65 min. left to do in 3 days to meet goal. That should be easy enough as long as I walk some every night this week! I also walked 1.90 miles and burned off 153 calories. I plan to increase my exercise goal for Aug. since I plan to start at the beginning of the month and not the middle like I did this month. I will probably aim for 750 min. and increase it to 1000 in Sept. We'll see how it goes in Aug. first though! Scott took today as a rest day b/c he had a busy day at work and was exhausted. Doesn't matter anyway. He mows this weekend and will easily meet his minutes just doing that! Anyway, I will get to journals tomorrow b/c I still need to take a shower and then I am going to bed! As thrilled as I was to have lost a lb yesterday my day got pretty stressful and rough after I posted. I don't want to type it all out again so I am just going to copy and paste what I typed on another thread last night. Here goes:

I am having a really rough day! Kylie has been screaming and crying a lot today which is not like her at all! First of all she is teething. Second of all she was really tired but didn't want to sleep. The teething ring has helped tremendously with the teething issue but getting her to stop crying and take a nap has been a real struggle. Dh came home for lunch and was able to calm her down and get her to sleep (yeah, she's a daddy's girl already!) but she woke up right after he left. Well, I let her take a bath with me and she loved that so she was fine for awhile. About an hour later she started screaming and crying again. I tried feeding her, changing her, rocking her, giving her her paci, singing to her...you name it, I tried it! Finally out of desperation I layed her in her crib and let her cry for about 10 min. I felt terrible! She's crying and I'm crying! Finally she calms down some and I pick her up. I try to make her a bottle and she starts screaming again. I pick her up and take her with me to fix her bottle and she has a tantrum and ends up kicking her bottle over before I can get the top on it! So now dd is screaming, formula is everywhere! I have to set her down by this point to clean up the mess. This makes her cry/scream louder! So now dd is throwing a tantrum, I am cleaning up the mess and crying again too! I finally was able to get her to sleep! She slept for about 30 min. and just woke up. She is much happier and smiling as though nothing ever happened! I hope tomorrow goes much smoother than today! Dh is supposed to be home any min. and I have never been happier to have him here!

That was my day yesterday! Dh came home and was a huge help as always but little miss Kylie was like that till 7 p.m. when she decided to finally go to sleep! At least she slept most of the night after that! This was very rare but she was just sooo tired and cranky! The stress had me so exhausted that I didn't exercise and I also did not eat very well! I was too tired to cook so we ordered pizza! Yes, I am a stress eater and am trying to break that cycle but it's hard! I shouldn't have joined that cheat-free challenge just yet b/c I am not at a point yet where I can really do it successfully for 100 days straight and then I feel like a failure when I cave just once in 8 days! I feel better when I cut myself some slack so I am officially not worrying about that challenge until I am better able to do it!

The good news is Kylie is back to her sweet, smiling, happy self today!Thankfully! So hopefully I can get back on track w/the exercise! Dh's boss let him know he should receive his bonus check any day now, but he wasn't able to get them any more money! That's okay! We'll take what we can get! Have a great day everyone!

Tasha - what I'm going to tell you I'm sure some people won't agree with me on. It's okay to put her in her crib when she is screaming. Sometimes it's best. They can feel your stress and tension and sometimes it makes them worse. Having her lay there screaming and crying, with you out of the room, let's them get their screaming out and relieve their tension some as they aren't feeling it from you any longer. Britt use to do that, once in a blue moon. I let her scream and within 10-15 minutes she had worked herself up so much that she exhausted herself to sleep. And generally slept an hour or so. But sometimes when they are teething they are in so much pain and so tired of the pain that they just don't know what to do. Get some baby Anbesol and keep in on hand. If she is teething and gets like this again, rub a little bit on her gums where her tooth is coming through and it will help sooth the pain and hopefully help her relax some.

Sorry you had such a bad day yesterday, just remember - they are only little for a little while and then it DOES get better (at least until they are teenagers :) ).

Keep on

Thanks everyone! And I wholeheartedly agree w/everything you posted, Chris! I do think it's okay to put her in her crib and let her cry when nothing else works! I let her cry until she calmed down some but it was still hard, lol! I don't think she was really hurting so much as just being tired to the point where she was having trouble sleeping but I bought some anbesol just in case! Her teeth aren't actually coming through yet. She is still in the early stage and she is literally chewing on everything she can get her hands on and drooling like crazy. My mom said I did the same thing and started just as young as Kylie and had all my teeth by 7-8 months! They say teething early is a genetic thing so Kylie will probably get her teeth early too.

Yesterday was just the opposite of Friday! She was such a little angel yesterday! Scott and I took her out to the mall and several other places yesterday. We got in atleast 2 hours of walking just by doing that so we both made July's exercise goal!!! :cheer2: I took Kylie to walmart and went to the toy section. She fell in love with a stuffed Baby Bop (from Barney) that sings. Scott bought it for her and she loves it! She also likes a book that makes noise that my dad bought her. They are the only 2 toys she has shown any interest in so far!

I felt like I looked so fat yesterday but I kept that neg. thought to myself. Well, this morning Scott told me I look like I am losing weight. He said he really noticed it yesterday which surprised me since I felt I looked fat. But hey, I'll take the compliment! It made my whole day! Have a great day everyone! We are going to Scott's sister's house in a little while so I'll try to get to journals tomorrow.

Hi Tahsa!
I have to agree with Chris on putting the baby down while crying....sometimes it can be a charm. We are lucky with Haley that she has such easy cues to read. We know when she wants to lay down, sometimes I am just loving to hold her but she will start getting cranky and want to go to bed...now with Samantha that was another story...being a first time mom I am sure I was so nervous and jittery anyway and I am sure she could feel it. I put her down crying several times! :) Hope she is doing better. Haley's first tooth is poking through and she is just chewing away on everything!
It is awesome to hear DH's compliments isn't it? I love it when they notice!!

Well, have a great day!

Tasha+Scott
08-01-2005, 03:31 PM
Thanks Jamie and lillygator! Well, Kylie's cues are easy to read too but I just am a first time mom who has trouble laying her in her crib while she is awake, lol! I am giving it a shot today though! Kylie is starting to get cranky so I just put her in her crib a few min. ago. I can tell she is ready for a nap. So far I can hear her talking to herself in the monitor but she isn't crying (yet!) so that's a good sign! Hopefully she'll fall asleep. This is a first time thing for us so I'll let you know how it goes!

Dh is starting an Aug. promotion type thing at work for his customers so he is probably going to be working late all week. I dread it b/c I really like having him here early in the evenings with us.

Okay, Kylie is crying now. I plan to let her cry for atleast 15 min. before I go to her. Hopefully that will be long enough for her to fall asleep. Well, hope everyone has a great day!

Hi, everyone! Sorry I haven't been around the past 2 days. Seems I may be MIA more often, at least for the time being! Kylie has decided she doesn't like to share Mommy with the computer anymore! And since she will only be little for a very short amount of time I feel I should spend more time with her and less time on the computer. She is taking a nap now which is why I am able to type this! I will try to get on here some during the evenings or when dh is home but not as often as before. So if you don't see me around as much that's why! Hope you all are doing well. I'll try to get to journals sometime this week. Right now I need to do some cleaning!

Remember, after Kylie is grown and on her own, you will have plenty of life left. (or at least that's my philosophy). Enjoy her while you can. I'm having trouble with the fact that my BABY is in 8th grade and next year is HS. Wow! Time flies - and I feel SO OLD!!!

Hey everyone!

Kylie turned 3 months on Friday! Where is time going? Just wanted to thank everyone for your support and to let you all know that we are all doing well. Sat. was Kylie's 1st time in a restaurant and the first time for Scott and me since before she was born. We ate at Olive Garden and had a great time. Kylie was extremely good and loved the change of scenery.

Then yesterday dh, dd, and I went to the movies early in the afternoon. I knew Kylie would enjoy it since she is fascinated w/things like that right now and Scott really wanted to see Dukes of Hazard. Kylie seemed to enjoy it. She sat on my lap and watched the first half of the movie w/us. She slept through the second half. The little girl behind us kept crying and yelling though. She was around 5. I think a lot of the other people in the theater thought Kylie would do that too. I didn't think she would and she didn't, but if she had we would have left early so we wouldn't disturb everyone.

Anyway, I need to get some cleaning done but just wanted to give an update.

Hey, everyone! Glad you like the pictures! Well, here's a quick update. The crying it out plan was a lifesaver. She cried the first few nights but doesn't even cry anymore! I put her to bed at 8:30 and her little body has adjusted to that apparently b/c by 8:15 she is ready to eat, get changed, and go to bed. I will definitely be doing the crying it out thing w/any future children as well. Kylie actually seems to like being on a schedule and so do I!

Well, this is TMI but I finally got my period today! It is a relief and a burden lifted off of me but man, I forgot how crampy and terrible it was! It's been a year since I had one so I am not used to it! :guilty:

Scott and I had been planning to take Kylie to WDW next year during the week of her 1st b-day but we have now decided to wait until she is 2 instead. We want to save a little more money so we can stay at the Poly 1 night and POFQ the remainder of our stay. If we go next year we would only be able to afford a value resort so we decided we'd just postpone it a year. We'll probably go to the beach or something next year. I figure it will be better to take Kylie when she's 2 vs. 1 anyway. She'll be off the bottle, potty-trained (hopefully!) and able to sleep in a bed. So we won't have to bring formula, diapers, a diaper bag, or get a crib. It will work out better on us. Plus, I think Kylie will get more out of it when she's 2 than when she's 1. We also want to start trying for baby #2 around the time Kylie turns 2 so maybe we'll bring back a little Disney souvenir! ;) Scott has suddenly decided he would like to take a Disney Cruise someday too. So after our next WDW trip, I guess we will be saving for that. Who knows? It's all a long way off still. Anyway, nothing new other than that. I'll post again when I get a chance. I hope you are all doing well!

Tasha+Scott
08-25-2005, 01:06 AM
Hey, everyone! Wow! A lot has changed since I posted yesterday! Scott and I have been talking everything over and he wants to go to WDW next May afterall and just stay at POP so that is what we are going to do as long as money permits. We also have been discussing what we want as far as our future plans are concerned. We only plan to have 1 more child and we want them pretty close in age. My brother and I were only 29 months apart and were best friends and still are. I know it will be hard having 2 so close in age at first but I really want them to have the bond that I shared with my brother growing up. My 2 half-sisters are 25 months apart and they fight constantly but they are also very close. Scott wants them to be close in age for the same reasons that I do but he also wants to have all of our children while we are in our 20s so that we will have a lot of time as a couple when the children are grown and we will still be relatively young. So anyway, to make a long story short we think (if all goes well) that we are going to start trying for our 2nd (and last!) child around Sept. 2006. That is another reason we are going to just go ahead and go to WDW next year instead of 2007. Call us crazy but it sounds like a plan that will work for us. It is nice to have a plan even though it may not go according to schedule due to unforseen circumstances or something. Anyway, we also really want to take a Disney cruise someday and it will be nice to know we can do that in a few years since we won't have any little babies anymore. After our kids start school I am going to finish my degree and get a job. Doesn't it sound like a nice plan? Hopefully it will go the way we want it to if God agrees! ;)

Hi Tasha,

We took our DD, Caley, to WDW when she was 10 months and 14 months (Emily was 2 years old at the time.) and both trips were amazing! We drove down both times and Caley and Emily both slept through the majority of the drive down to Orlando. Once we got there, she was fascinated by all the people, the sights, and the sounds. She loved the rides too! I know that she probably doesn't remember those trips, but when we took her at 14 months, she got so excited when she saw Cinderella's castle. princess: I bet you, Kylie, and Scott will have tons of fun and like you said.... maybe you'll bring home a "little souvenir" too. ;)

Hey Tasha - we also wanted kids close in age...our girls are 27 months apart...sure it is hard at times but it is great fun!

We've taken Samantha to WDW since she was 18 months and Haley since she was a month old....as far as not needing diaper bags etc when they are two...we still always took a bag in with snacks, change of clothes etc...with kids you never know what is going to happen.

We also took Samantha on a Disney cruise at 18 months and this December we are taking both girls who will be 3 and 10 months at cruise time...I am sooo looking forward to it.

Pop Century is great...we have stayed there a few times...your DD will love the huge icons everywhere....so much to look at!

You guys will have a great time! When are you looking at cruising?

Hello, everyone! Wow, thanks for keeping up with me even though I have pretty much been MIA the last few weeks!

A lot has changed here. I will try to update as quickly as I can since Scott is rocking Kylie right now. Good thing I type pretty fast. Anyway, let's see...

Well, Scott's raise was much better than we had anticipated so we are now going to stay at the Wilderness Lodge when we go to WDW next May. I have already made our reservations (got a package with the tickets and dining included) and have paid a good little bit on it already. Things are definitely improving financially! I can't wait till Kylie's 1st b-day since we will be at WDW then!

Kylie has now started rolling over both ways, talking non-stop, trying to sit up, and eating cereal. She is majorly growing. As of Sept. 8 she weighed 16 lbs 8 oz! She is about 25.5-26 inches long. She was kicking so much they had a hard time getting her length so I am not sure exactly what her height is right now. Problem we are having now is that she has gotten to where she will roll onto her stomach in her sleep which wakes her up and crying it out doesn't work when she does that. She knows how to roll back onto her back and has been doing it for over 3 months now but for some reason doesn't do it at night so I end up getting up with her. So much for the crying it out doing wonders. It did for several weeks at least. We aren't completely giving up. We figure eventually she will figure out that she can roll back onto her back and go back to sleep. Plus, she is getting her first tooth. It hasn't broken all the way through yet but we can see it. It has been bothering her some which may have something to do w/why she isn't sleeping as well as she did before. All I know to do is give her infant tylenol, baby orajel, and wait it out.

Anyway, for those of you that don't already know I live in Mississippi. I had my location under my screen name at one point but I received some pretty nasty "redneck" comments for living in MS so I decided to leave that blank so nasty, snippy people wouldn't have ammunition to verbally attack me b/c of where I live. I am not actually from MS but Scott and Kylie are so I do tend to take attacks like that personally. Sad that some people are that way but oh, well. Anyway, I live in NE MS about 20-25 min. from the AL line and an hour and a half from Memphis, TN. We were not affected too badly by Katrina. Most of the state lost electricity for days. We didn't though. We were in the 5-10% of the state that didn't lose power. The rest of my family did lose it. Trees and limbs were knocked over but were cleared away fast. Unfortunately I know all of you know that the southern part of the state wasn't so lucky. We opened quite a few shelters here and have had quite a few evacuees from southern MS and NO staying here. When I was not too busy I did what I could to help like donating things, etc. The state has really come together to help those that need it. It has been a blessing to see how people have helped.

Well, I am sure much more is going on here but that's all I can think of right now. Thanks for keeping up with me. Someday I will get to all of your journals again, but right now Kylie keeps me on my toes! She's becoming mobile which means less computer time for me! I have her 4 month pictures but haven't developed them yet. (She turned 4 months Sept. 5). I will develop those tomorrow and post some when I get a chance!

Hi, all!
Just a quick note to say that apparently we are back on track with Kylie's sleeping...hopefully! I guess it was just a fluke b/c of her teething. I know she is definitely teething and has been for 2.5 months and I am 99% sure that is a tooth I see coming in but who knows? I could be wrong! Anyway, she went to bed on time last night and slept pretty well. She woke up once to eat and then I layed her back in her crib. She talked to herself a few min. and went right back to sleep and slept till 9 today so we seem to be getting things back to normal. I figured out a trick to keep her from rolling onto her stomach. Right now she rolls to the right and hasn't really figured out how to roll to the left side yet so I lay her really close to the right side of her crib so when she tries to roll she can only get on her side and doesn't have enough room to roll all the way. Granted she can move all over the crib and undo that if she wanted to but so far it has worked. Don't know what we'll do when she starts rolling to the left. Hopefully by then she will start rolling back onto her back before she wakes herself up too much. Just thought I'd share!

P.S. I still haven't developed Kylie's pictures. I plan to do that tomorrow evening while I am Christmas shopping. I'll post when I get a chance. Don't know when that will be though! :confused3

Hey, everyone! I think I told you earlier in my thread that my little brother who is deaf was getting a cochlear implant, right? Anyway, I posted an update to it on another thread and thought I would copy and paste it here so you all could see it too:

Just to let everyone know my brother's cochlear implant seems to be going really well so far. He is able to hear things that he has never heard before. He heard my family talking and thought it was background noise or something. The dr. had to tell him he was hearing people's voices. He heard the fry daddy the other day and thought that his implant wasn't working right. He explained what he was hearing and it was the fry daddy and he was in awe that he could hear it. It's really awesome that he is starting to hear things he has never heard before even though it is a big adjustment for him! He seems to be happy that he is hearing things now too. He still has a long way to go though but this is such a drastic change...it is truly a miracle! He has to start speech therapy (he's used to it since he has been going to speech since he was 2 anyway) soon because he is learning to say words correctly and pronounce sounds correctly but he is still having trouble with the "sh" sound and words such as invitation, celebration, etc. But it's only been a week and he has improved probably 60% already! And ftr, he will be 16 years old in a month and a half. I didn't know if I had mentioned how old he was before or not. Thanks for the continued prayers everyone!

Have a great weekend everyone! :flower:

Hi, all!
Well, we just received our invitation for our childbirth class reunion. We attended it for 6 weeks from Feb. 28 (my b-day :teeth: )- Apr. 4. We were told there would be a reunion sometime in Sept. and I was wondering if they were still planning to have it. It is scheduled for Oct. 1 and I am excited! Kylie loves other babies but very rarely gets to see any. All of my friends' kids are 2+ years old. As far as relatives she has 2 cousins. Both are boys. One is 11 years old and the other will turn 5 in Dec. My SIL is due to have a baby on March 29 but that'll be awhile. So anyway I am thrilled to have this reunion so Kylie will have other babies her own age to play with for a couple hours. It will also be interesting for dh and me since we haven't seen the other couples in 6 months almost! And I can't wait to see all the babies!

So now I am really going to have to get in gear w/the exercise! I plan to start walking on the treadmill for atleast 30 min. every night starting tonight until the reunion (well, hopefully longer, but that is my mini-goal!). I know I can't lose a whole lot between now and Oct. 1 but I also know that I am more than capable of losing a few pounds between now and then. And now that Kylie goes to bed between 7-8 p.m. every night (and is sleeping through the night now might I add! :cheer2: ) and is taking her naps on a schedule...sort of...I have no excuses not to do it! So wish me luck! I would like to firm up just a tad between now and then. I also need to buy a new outfit since I really don't have anything nice to wear anymore! My wardrobe really hasn't been my top priority while staying home taking care of a baby...esp. when you deal with being drooled on or spit up on every day! :teeth: So I am also excited to use this as an excuse to buy something for myself. I buy things for Kylie and Scott all the time and rarely anything for myself! It's time for a treat, wouldn't you say?!

tasha-
you definitely deserve to treat yourself!! the reunion sounds like fun--itll be nice to see everyone again im sure, and of cdourse, the babies!!
the mini goal for the treadmill sounds good..and now that kylie is sleeping through the night (yay!!!) hopefully you will be able to fit it in!!
dont worry too much about it and just have a good time at the reunion!

Don't worry, Jen! I would love to lose just a couple of pounds before next weekend but I won't stress about it if I don't. I plan to have a great time either way. Besides, these women have all seen me at my absolute heaviest I have ever been in my life! I had quite the belly when I was 8.5 months preg. which is the last time I saw them. I couldn't even see my feet over it and no, I am not joking! Scott had to tie my shoes toward the end! :rotfl: So I probably will look good to them either way since I don't have quite as big a tummy as I did when I was preg. And there were several "larger" women in our group so it's not that big a deal I guess. I'd just feel better about myself if I atleast made some sort of effort this week. It's motivation for me. I am excited though!

And I did well tonight. I managed to walk on the treadmill for 30 min. So the first night was a success! Hopefully I'll do well every night this week! I'll keep all of you updated! Okay, I really should try to get some sleep. I am such a night owl which is not good now that Kylie goes to bed early (she was asleep by 7 p.m. tonight) and gets up early (I am guessing probably by 6 and it's midnight now). I really need to try to learn to go to bed earlier. Oh, well, one more goal to work on! Night, everyone! :wave2:

Tasha ~ Wishing you lots of luck on your exercise schedule for your reunion. I know that you are going to lose weight before then and as you said it does help to have a goal to aim to. Hope you find something lovely to wear, you so deserve a treat. Perhaps you could post a piccie after your night.

Hey Tasha!

Wow, there's been a lot going on with you. I haven't posted in anyone's journals lately as I've been busy myself.

So glad everyone is ok from Katrina. My DD's best friend at college is from Baton Rouge, and I know he said the same about his parents, they've been helping others who were evacuated and doing what they can, and people are really pulling together.

Great news on the raise, and your trip next spring sounds like something to look forward to!! :goodvibes

Kylie's pics are so cute, I sometimes miss having a little one around (my baby will be 11 this year!) My best exercise when my kids were small like that was walking everywhere pushing them in the stroller. They loved getting out and about, and it was a good workout for me!

Keep up the good work!

Hi, everyone!
We went to our childbirth class reunion yesterday! It was really nice. It was great to see all the babies and hear all the stories. I even won a prize for giving birth to the biggest baby of the class. (Kylie weighed 9 lbs 7 oz when she was born.) I knew her size would pay off one day, lol! ;) Anyway, there were 6 other couples and babies there besides us. We were missing 5 couples but we were told that all 5 of them had boys. Out of the 6 other couples that showed up only 1 had a girl. This means that out of 12 couples only 2 of us had girls! Kylie hit is off w/one baby boy in particular. His name was Adam and his mom and I joked about them maybe dating in college. Well, later we were talking and discovered that we live in the same town as they do and our kids are going to be going to school together! Plus, her dh is the band director at the school! How ironic...so it looks good for her and her future boyfriend, right? Just kidding...or am I?! :teeth: Everyone had a great time and we are planning to meet again next year if all goes well so we can see how much the kids have grown, etc. It's possible I will be preg. by this time next year but we don't know for sure yet of course (that will depend on how we feel when the time comes, lol). Plus, most (if not all) of our kids will be walking by then so that should be interesting! Anyway, I took pictures and I thought I'd share. The last 4 pictures were taken today (well, I guess I mean yesterday since it's past 1 a.m. now!) and are Kylie's 5 month pictures. Yes, it's a few days early (she'll be 5 months on Wed.) but I wanted to finish up the roll of film. Here they are. The group ones are probably not easy to see on here but here goes nothing:

This is Brandon (the only baby I have met w/more hair than Kylie and he has already had a haircut! Isn't he adorable?!)

This is Adam (Kylie's future boyfriend ;) ) and Jake (Adam is sitting w/Jake's mommy and Jake is sitting w/Adam's mommy)

The rest were taken today and are Kylie's 5 month pictures:

Hey, all!
I apologize to any of you that haven't seen the pictures I posted earlier and can't see anything but a red x now. I don't like to leave pictures online (other than the ones I use in my siggie) for too long. Especially if it is of other people and their children. So that is why they are no longer there.

Anyway, Scott's company was just bought out. Scott is currently at a dinner/meeting to discuss how this will affect them concerning benefits and any other changes. From what we know this should be a good change. This is supposed to mean better insurance at a lower cost to us, more vacation time (he is supposedly going to start getting 3 weeks of vacation starting summer 2007!), more frequent raises, etc. So it sounds like it will be a good thing. Of course I won't know more until Scott gets home but that's what he had been told before the meeting. The only bad part is that this happened suddenly and his company had to switch their pay periods over to the new company's pay periods. So he was supposed to be getting paid today and instead will not get paid until a week from tomorrow. This hurt us a little on bills this month since it was so sudden! I had already put quite a bit of money into Christmas, our upcoming trip, and some other odds and ends. Who knew they would delay his paycheck? Anyway, after this month things hopefully will be back on track so we will basically just be on a tight budget this month to make amends. We'll manage.

As far as Kylie, she is now eating baby food. She is using her walker which she loves. She is almost able to sit unsupported. She can for a min. or 2 but not for a real long time yet. But she will be before long. She has so much hair now that I can put it into a ponytail! It is too cute! Anyway, I just finished carving a jack-o-lantern earlier today. I plan to put Kylie in her cute little bunny costume/pajamas and sit her with the jack-o-lantern and take her picture.

The only bad news (well, not bad, but frustrating to me) is that I can't seem to find the time to clean the house! Every time I try something happens. Tonight I was going to try to get a lot of cleaning done before Scott came home but Kylie was difficult at bedtime. I tried everything! She would not cry herself to sleep tonight. She just cried and cried till I finally gave in and went and got her. There is nothing wrong with her. She simply did not want to go to bed! So I ended up rocking her for an hour and finally got her to sleep. And today was pretty much the same. So many little things on top of naps, feedings, bath time, etc. By the time all of that was over the day was gone! And now I am so freakin' tired that all I want to do is go to bed (and it's only 9!)! I don't have the energy to clean! It's a good thing Scott loves me b/c I have had absolutely no domestic skills since having Kylie. She is the light of my life right now but she is also very demanding and time-consuming! Don't get me wrong! I love her and her laugh nearly makes me cry it is so sweet, but she can be hard work too. For anyone that has ever said being a SAHM is easy...they have obviously never been one or they had the most perfect child on earth! Anyway, I am just exhausted and thought I'd share. I am ready for Scott to get home and tell me about his meeting and then I want to go to bed!

Sorry for all of the spelling/grammatical errors that I am sure I have made. Like I said, I'm really tired! And I guess I must sound crazy b/c even after everything I posted above I still want to start trying for another baby next year! Hey, noone said it would be easy but trust me the good outweighs the bad, no matter how tired I am! :)

Hi, all! Well, as tired as I was I didn't get to bed last night until after 3 a.m.! Dh didn't get home until around 10:30. We stayed up talking until after midnight. Then, I stayed up looking over all of the health insurance information, etc. We have not had health insurance in almost a year b/c my job is the one we had it with and of course I quit after I learned I was preg. with Kylie and worried about the stress at my job affecting her. We got on medicaid at the time but I have really wanted health insurance since we have dd, Scott has an infected toe that has been treated twice with no luck and we worry his toe may need surgery so insurance would be good for that, and we want to have another baby around the time Kylie turns 2. I want to be able to pick my dr. and I would feel more secure having medical insurance. We were planning to get it anyway during dh's open enrollment period in Feb. but since they were bought out he his now able to get the insurance with the new company now and that is great! It would go into effect starting Dec.1. The insurance is a lot better and more affordable than what his old company was offering so that's another plus! I am having trouble deciding which plan to sign us up for now though. I of course want the best insurance but it is also the most expensive so I may go with the middle plan. There are 3 plans. But anyway, we will finally have health insurance! :cheer2: And dental insurance and his company is providing life insurance on Scott, Kylie, and me at no cost to us unless we want to add more to it. He will have a pretty good 401K plan too. He didn't get sick or personal days at his old company, now he will! He also got 2 weeks vacation but will be eligible for 3 weeks soon. The best part about that is that he was only allowed to take vacation time from April 1-Sept. 1. Now he can take it from March 1-Oct. 1 which is better! Anyway, seems this is going to be a great change for us! I only wish it would have happened sooner but I can't complain! At least it's happening and when we can afford to buy insurance and put money into his 401K plan, etc., so it really has worked out for the best.

Well, Kylie and I need to run to walmart and then I need to call my mom to get her opinion on all of the different insurance plans, and then Scott will probably be home and my day will be nearly over. And I have not accomplished squat today! Hopefully that will change soon too! Kylie and I slept for 3 hours this afternoon (which is extremely rare!) which is why I have done nothing today! Well, until next time... :wave2:

Hey, everyone! Anyone interested in the latest Kylie developments? Well, here they are!

We have discovered that it seems that Kylie all of a sudden either has separation anxiety or stranger anxiety or perhaps both. She won't let anyone hold her except me or Dh or she screams and cries and just acts plain miserable! She wouldn't let MIL or FIL hold her and made sure that dh and I never left the room! Poor thing even reached her arms out to her "dada" when his mom was holding her! Then, a friend of dh's tried to hold her earlier and she went crazy! Ey yi yi! I know that this is common in babies and that it can happen around this age but still! We are supposed to see my mother on Monday in the first time in over a month and I hope she won't be afraid to let my mom hold her! And she is supposed to get her 6 month/Christmas pictures made the end of this month so I hope this phase won't affect that!

But there have been some exciting things going on here too. She is now almost sitting up on her own. And today she raised up onto her knees several times and is trying to crawl! I couldn't believe it! Dh and I were just in awe! She's so young still so we were surprised. She isn't crawling yet though or anything but at this rate she will be by Christmas (possibly sooner)...just in time to get into all the presents and into the tree! :earboy2:

Just thought I'd share! I'm off to bed now. Night!

Sounds like you have some exciting stuff happening in your life. That is great about Scott's job. One thing I would recommend (and I know I'm late in this) is looking at how much it costs you to pay out of pocket to see the doctors for the various plans. Two might let you pick your own doctors but the rate they pay and you pay may be different. That's how I chose my insurance. I knew where I wanted to go and two different plans covered the same clinic - it was a choice between me paying $10 per visit or $80 and the rate I paid into the insurance was the same (or a bit cheaper depending on dependants). So I chose the lower one that I'd have to pay and I've never been sorry. Good luck!!!!

Very exciting on the things Kylie is able to do now - just wait, she'll be crawling in no time and then walking and then talking and then.... :) It's very fun!!!!

Keep on

Hey, everyone!

I'll just give a few updates and then I'll give you some pictures.

1. We decided to cancel our WDW trip. We didn't have to but we decided it would be wise to invest it in savings instead. Especially since we are planning to TTC baby #2 next November when Kylie is about 18 months old. So we probably won't be going back to WDW for a few years but I am okay with that. It was my decision after all.

2. Kylie has outgrown her infant carseat so we had to go to the next size. She now weighs 18 lbs and is 26.5 inches long.

3. She has her 2 bottom teeth coming in.

4. She will turn 6 months next Saturday (which I still can NOT believe!) and is going to have her 6 month/Christmas pictures taken then. I will post when I get those back.

Here are some recent pictures. The last 3 she is in her Halloween costume (a bunny rabbit). Scott is the one holding her in the last one. They are standing in our front yard. Another current picture is the new one I just put in my siggie! Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi, everyone! Hope you are all doing well.

Well, 1st here are the updates on Kylie.
1. She has her 2 bottom teeth now.
2. She can raise onto her hands and knees and is very close to crawling.
3. She can sit up pretty well by herself now.
4. She is really fast in her walker now. She can pretty much run in the thing. I didn't expect her to make me have to constantly chase her or wear me out until she started walking by herself or at least started crawling but she can really move in that thing so I am getting a bit of a workout anyway! :teeth:
5. We are attempting a sippy cup now but she likes to chew on it more than suck on it. I figure that will come eventually and I am not rushing her. If she wants to play with it that's fine with me. At least she will get used to it.
6. Her hair is just getting so long and it is nearly blonde now! I love to put a ponytail in her hair now. Too cute!
7. We had her pictures made on Sunday. They turned out really good and she smiled in all of them. We didn't have to redo any of them as she was very cooperative and happy. It literally took less than 10 min. to do them. We get them back 2 weeks from tomorrow and I will post them then. I put her hair in a ponytail for those too.

I am sooo blessed to have such an easygoing, happy baby! I hope my 2nd is like this, but I am afraid he/she will be the exact opposite! Is it possible to get 2 children that are this easy? Just doesn't seem likely to me. Keeping my fingers crossed, lol! ;)

Anyway,as far as Scott and me, we are doing well. Scott is excited b/c hunting season starts Saturday. He will be gone a lot to hunt this winter.

Our 6th anniversary is a week from Sunday (the 27th). We are not celebrating until that following weekend though since it is the weekend after Thanksgiving and everything will be crowded. Plus, Scott and I want my mom to babysit Kylie and the following weekend will work out better. We plan to go out to dinner and a movie. I am sooo excited! It will be the 1st weekend Scott and I have gone out together without Kylie. It will be nice to have a little time alone together!

I have gone out a couple of times by myself now (usually meeting my mom) and left Kylie with Scott for the day though. It isn't as hard on me as I thought it would be, especially since I know how good Scott is with her. He is seriously the best daddy I have ever seen and I am not just saying that. He is a natural with her and she adores him as much as he adores her. I love that (since my dad was nothing like that) and it's nice to see Kylie has a great father! It's just strange not to have to lug around a nearly 20 lb baby or a diaper bag though.

We are going to my mom's for Thanksgiving. Usually we go to Scott's grandmother's an hour away and then have to rush to my mom's an hour away in the opposite direction! It is really stressful. This year we changed things per my mom's request. It is just too much now that we have Kylie. We visited Scott's grandmother Sunday after Kylie's pictures were made and we are not going there for Thanksgiving. We are just going to my moms. Then next year we are going to Scott's grandmother's and skipping my mom's. We plan to alternate from now on. Unfortunately we have 3 get-togethers for Christmas though. One for breakfast, one for lunch, and one for dinner. We are hoping to end that next year. This year is Kylie's 1st Christmas and we know it will disappoint if we don't bring her to all 3 but next year we are changing it up. Not exactly sure how yet though.

We are putting up our Christmas tree on Thanksgiving night and I can't wait to see Kylie's reaction to the lights. Of course I know I will have to try to keep her out of the tree this year too which I don't look quite as forward to! I also have the added bonus of trying to keep my cats out of it again this year!

Anyway, I seriously have decided I need to get back on track and lose this extra weight. I miss my size 8 and size 10 clothing! Kylie is past the majorly clingy, always needing to be held, stage now. She likes to play on her own a little more now that she is becoming increasingly mobile so I think I can do this a little easier than before. Plus, unless the plan changes (which I reserve the right to change it any time and for any reason, lol!) we are planning to start ttc baby #2 next fall and I REALLY don't want to go into that preg. as heavy as I did with Kylie. I was so out of shape and it really took its toll on me physically. I would like to lose a little before then. I would really like to lose about 50 lbs but I will be happy just to lose 1-2 dress sizes at this point. I need to really start exercising again. I also need to limit my junk food which is going to be hard during the holidays. I have already decided that I am going to eat whatever I want on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the night we go out for our anniversary. That way I won't feel tempted to binge later on. Other than that, it's time to really do something. It's easier said than done, of course, but I am going to give it my best shot. I have true motivation this time since I want to be a positive role model for Kylie and since I want to have a healthier preg. than I did last time. Plus, being heavy did not affect my ability to conceive Kylie but who knows if it will this time? I'd rather not risk it.

I don't get on here as often as before since I find once I do I have an increasingly hard time getting off the computer! It's too addicting! Sooo, I will probably only post in my journal once a week or so. I will just give brief (and yes, I do mean brief...nothing nearly as long as this, I hope!) updates for the week and how I did. I also signed up to have a buddy to do this with. Glad I found that thread since signups end tomorrow and I just found it today! Maybe if I have someone to buddy with I will stay more on track. Here's hoping! Anyway, WISH me luck (pun intended!)! I will let you know how I did probably next weekend. Hoping to have good news to report next weekend! Have a great week! :wave2:

ETA: Oh, I don't think I mentioned this before since I don't update my journal often...my SIL found out last month that she is having another boy! You might remember me mentioning how obsessed she was with having a girl this time and that she had told her nearly 5 year old he was having a sister. I knew that would come back to bite her on the butt and that she would have a boy. Oh, well. She is starting to freak me out though b/c now that she knows she will never have a girl (this is going to be their last child) she keeps saying things about how she hopes Kylie will look just like her so she will somewhat have the girl she always wanted. It's creepy since Kylie is my child and sometimes she acts as though she wants to make her her own child! :earseek: She says a lot of weird things though and always has so this is no new thing! And Kylie will not look like his sister anyway b/c she looks exactly like my baby pictures other than her hair and eye color. I had brown eyes/dark brown (nearly black) hair. Kylie has blondish brown hair and blue eyes. Other than that you can't tell her apart from my baby pictures.

Oh my gosh about your SIL Tasha - she hopes Kylie will look like her - OH DEAR!!!!!!! You may have a handful there eventually but hopefully not for your guys' sake.

How cool that Kylie is almost at the crawling stage. I didn't have a crawler - Britt went straight to getting on her knees to walking. No crawling at all. I was looking forward to that piece and she disappointed me :rotfl: :rotfl: . She was walking at 9 months also so that was a shock too. This is now the fun time with Kylie - enjoy it!!!! It had to have been one of my favorite times of Britt growing up because you can really see the various changes in them. Have fun!!!!!

Have a good weekend and a Happy Thanksgiving if I don't see you before that.
Keep on

Chris, I also skipped the crawling and went straight to walking. And I started walking at 9 months too! It looks like Kylie will be a crawler though at the rate she is going which is fine with me...I guess it just means she will do things more normally than I did. Now if she is left-handed like me at least she will have gotten one backwards trait from her mommy which will make me sooo proud! :rotfl:

Hi, everyone! Wow! I didn't realize it had been so long since I last posted. We had a majorly busy holiday season. I won't bore you with the details but we were gone here and there a lot. Kylie has changed in so many ways since I last posted! She is now crawling, able to get into a sitting position on her own, and is attempting to pull herself into a standing position. Once she masters that she will have mastered everything except walking! I can't believe she will be 8 months old on Thurs. and I definitely can't believe how much she has grown and changed over the last month alone!

Scott and I have been married for over 6 years now and I am still so in love with him. Seriously ladies, I don't think there has ever been a more perfect husband. Oh, I know he has plenty of faults but they are nothing compared to his good points. We recently found a new church and are planning to become members soon. I am sooo happy and content with my life right now and thank God daily for all the blessings he has given me. We have decided we are going to wait until Kylie is 2 before we start ttc our 2nd. She is at an age where we are just enjoying her and I think we want a little more time with her alone before we add a 2nd child to the mix. There will be about a 3 year age difference which will be perfect IMO.

Anyway, I am determined to make this year MY year when it comes to my weightloss/health goals. I am feeling so much more motivated than I have in the past and I have more energy now, which is ironic considering how tiring chasing Kylie all over can be! I am not on here as much as in the past b/c I really cannot take my eyes off Kylie for too long as she has a VERY curious mind and gets into everything. I am afraid getting on here too much would distract me and she would get hurt. So basically I am only going to post in my journal once a week from here on out. I will cover how I did each day of the week when I do though.

Anyway here is how I am recommitting myself to this roller coaster ride of trying to lose weight and keep it off!
1. I am giving up junk food except on special occasions!
2. I am going to start eating less.
3. I am going to start eating more nutritiously.
4. EXERCISE! EXERCISE! EXERCISE!

The goals are obtainable and I feel I am finally ready to make it happen. My first goal is to lose about 15 lbs by Kylie's 1st b-day. I won't beat myself up too bad if I don't AS LONG AS I stick to my goals and work hard at it. I want to get to my goal weight by the time is Kylie is 2 (only 1 year and 4 months so a pretty good timeline) so that I will be at a healthy weight when we do decide to start ttc baby #2. I would like to lose at least 50-60 lbs. I wouldn't mind losing more but that is my main goal right now. Okay, well, I will post more next week and let you all know how I am doing! Wish me luck! :wave2:

I just realized I never did post Kylie's professional Christmas pictures. One of them is in my sig. I don't have the rest online anymore but here are some pictures from her 1st Christmas if any of you are interested.

Kylie with her nana (my mom) on Dec. 17 at our house during the Christmas get-together I hosted. She is studying the new toy phone my family gave her.

Kylie with her grandma (my stepmom, Suzie) and her aunts (my halfsisters-10 year old Kaylan and 8 year old Loagan) at my dad's at his Christmas get together on the 23rd.

Another of Kylie with her grandma and my sisters playing in the floor with a toy they gave her. And, if you can see it, my sister stuck a Christmas bow on Kylie's head!

We ended up spending the night at my dad's due to the bad weather, the distance, and how late it was. Here is Kylie and my dad (aka Grandpa) right before bed.

Here are some of the things Santa brought to our house. ;)

Kylie with her cousins, 11 year old Jay and 5 year old Channing, Christmas morning at Scott's mom's house.

Kylie with her mamaw (Scott's mom) at Scott's grandmother's house on Christmas afternoon. You can tell how tired she was in this picture but she refused to take a nap. She was afraid she'd miss something!
