Okay - who is going to admit to watching it? I usually love it but watching the semi-final last night made me cringe - they'll have to improve for tomorrow night! I think it will be better with Tel doing it!

I'll be watching! Best laugh of the year is Eurovision!! The question should be "Who takes it seriously??" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Thank God I thought I was the only one watching.
Ever since Sandie Shaw won
It's even better now with the semi-finals, its like having 2 Song Contests.
Tel is definitely better at presenting
What a weekend ESC :rolleyes1 on saturday and Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday.
Only 9 days to go to Sequoia Lodge DLRP ( 8 if you count going to Manchester airport hotel on Saturday night ready to be at check in for 0430)

I must admit I love watching it - especially the voting :)
It's about the only thing I like with Terry Wogan in! Mainly due to his sarcastic comments and the way he takes the mick out of the other contestants and foriegn presenters :)
I'll also keep a close on on Javine's costume incase of any accidents ;)

I quite like the UK song - the only problem is, no one in Europe likes us!! It's all political nonsense (but that's what makes it fun!!)

I'll definately be watching it, I love to watch it whilst getting nicely drunk (trust me it makes the music sound better!). There is plenty of rivalry in my house now that Albania takes part, my hubby had the last laugh last year when Albania came way above us!

Eurovision is great, it's so cheesy!! Javine's song is the sort of thing the voters have gone for in the last few years - upbeat song, scantily clad dancers etc. But who knows, maybe people just don't want to vote for the UK.
I will definitely be watching!!

Okay - what is to be done about the political voting?! It is hilarious - poor Javine! I had three of the top five in my top five (Greece, Malta and Israel - Israel should have won).
It is the most awful show but fun at the same time!!
I know its awful but I'd much rather see my licence money go to pay for it than the FA cup final (or any fooball)

Where did they get those two presenters from? - I was ROFLMAO everytime they spoke :)
As for the political voting - it really ruins the competition :(
I also think Isreal should have won. I also liked the Latvian and Danish entries.
Javine never really had a chance - on top of the political voting the song didn't really stick in you mind.

My entire knowledge of Eurovision comes from that episode of Father Ted where Ted and Dougal sing the most godawful song ever and then win for Ireland, beating Father Dick Byrne and Cyril. So, this is probably common knowledge, but I'm wondering why Italy doesn't participate. Were they banned or something? Or maybe it's just that they didn't make it into the 2004 and 2005 contests (for which I have the CDs). But it certainly seems like every other European country is represented ... even Israel which, when did they become part of Europe? :p

Not all countries in Europe can take part as there would be too many, so a few days before they have a contest for all the countries that want to take part and the final ones are chosen for the big night, I think thats right! The countries that pay for it always get thru (UK, France, Spain, etc) *** they need us but then we dont usually get very many votes! If we didnt pay for it we probably wouldnt even get thru the first round!

That is such a great Father Ted episode. And the version of "My Lovely Horse" that they wanted to sing, but couldn't, was fantastic!! What a video!!! :teeth:
