I tried SBD about this time last year, and had to stop due to the fact that phase 1 was kicking my butt...I was nearly passing out at the gym.

1 year later, I'm lazier (I know - not good) and don't work out as hard...and I need to start dropping some of this extra weight I've put on since quitting smoking. My mother and father have had phenomenal results on SBD...so I need to get back on the wagon.

Phase 1
I have my SBD book and "good fats good carbs" guide that i bought last year - just wondering if anything has changed.

can I have a splash of skim milk in my morning coffee?

can I have those sugar free/fat free/calorie free drink mixes (the ones that are made for dumping into a bottle of water...the "to go" mixes?

is it still 30 pistachios? (ahh...counting out those precious little buggers)

thanks all!

Hi
There are several changes since the origional book was published. These are summerized at http://www.southbeachdiet.com/updates.asp.

For Phase I, you are allowed 2 serving of dairy per day from 1% OR skim milk or low fat yogurt. Also, tomatos and onion are no longer limited in phase 1.

Sugar free kool-aid type drinks should be fine during Phase 1. Just like the sugar free Jello is.

Good luck. Try to stick with it to phase 2. For me it got easier around the end of phase 1 start of phase 2.
