How does dining work in DL now with 2 parks?

I'm in the planning stages of my first trip to DL and there definitely does not seem to be as well an organized system for priority seating as WDW. The following link may be helpful to you:

We have been to DL many times in the past.....but not since DCA opened and I know everything is different now.
But I printed out all the phone numbers anyway.

Hi Kim!

Anyone can make advance dining reservations at the Disneyland Resort Hotel restaurants.

Those staying at the Disneyland Resort Hotels also can get advance PSs at a few of the theme park restaurants, including the popular Blue Bayou at Disneyland.

The number to call for dining is (714) 956-6755.

We just went to DLR but did not stay in a Disney hotel because we were traveling with our dog. But we were able to make PS's at Guest Services in each park. At 11 am we got a 4 pm PS at Blue Bayou on Sunday at the Guest Services inside City Hall at DL. At DCA, around 11 am, we made a PS at the Guest Services desk near the entrance for a 2:30 pm seating at Soap Opera Bistro. All PS's were for our party of 6.

We were not able, however, to make a PS for Wolfgang Puck's Avalon Cove. Guest Services said that this restaurant is not officially Disney operated and they have not yet allowed Disney to take PS's for them. We inquired at Avalon Cover later and they said they only take reservations for parties of 8 or more. We came back at 8:30 pm and they seated us right away. This was Monday night and the restaurant was less than half full at that time.
